We have 2audio at the same time like this :

#1: English 1.0ch FLAC
#2: English 1.0ch AAC @ 192 Kbps (Commentary by Michael Powell and Martin Scorsese)

if we encode with "nero aac", Megui choose "Commentary track" for defaul track audio, when this happened ? when commentary track and audio encoder is = AAC

This is one of the oldest bug in megui, and hope the problem is resolved in future updates. thanks.

After updating MeGUI to 2748 and x264 to r2833, MeGUI claimed it couldn't find 10 bit x264 & embarked on a never ending request to install it. Even when I told it not to, every time I started an encoding job the updater would open and try to re-install it. I'm using the 8 bit version though. I just thought I'd mention that in case it's not expected behaviour, but the x86 version of 10 bit x264 is named "x264-10b.exe.exe".
Removing the additional ".exe" from the file name stopped MeGUI from wanting to re-install it.
Thanks, fixed

Every time I uncheck and check "Use x64tools if possible" option, it "extracts" the tools.
Does it have to re-extract them everytime I switch between 32-bit and 64-bit?
This is necessary as the 32bit and 64bit share usually the same file name. So if you select 32bit the 32bit ones have to be extracted (+ downloaded if not available yet). If you switch to 64bit the 64bit files have to extracted to replace the 32bit ones. Out of interest - why do you switch between them so often?

Could we not have the entire "Add pre-rendering job" text be an active selection area for the checkbox? I find myself accidentally clicking there and wasting hours filling my drive a little too often.
What do you mean with "active selection"? A message box to pop-up as a warning? Or to hide it by default?

Zeranoe's FFmpeg v3.3.1 is available now
https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
MediaInfo v0.7.96 is released.
Thanks, updated!

Please provide more details. I do not know where you do have that problem (OneClick) and how to reproduce it. Also a (small) sample file would be nice.

@Zathor,

Is this something that can be fixed regarding the shift in audio track positions?

Also with the files mediainfos I posted before, the input file is FLAC1, FLAC2, AAC but output becomes FLAC1-transcoded, AAC, FLAC2-transcoded?

Is there a reason why the audio tracks shift position in the output file? If not, would be nice to keep it in the same positions as the input file

@Zathor,

Is this something that can be fixed regarding the shift in audio track positions?

How is it shown in the OneClick GUI? Are the tracks there in your desired order?
if yes, please upload a (short) sample file with your MeGUI profiles.

2754 [MKV Info] switched to the JSON format as the old switch is deprecated (requires mkvmerge 9.7+)
2753 [Chapter] improved chapter handling
all MediaInfo supported files and TXT/XML files can be used as chapter files
!!! existing jobs have to be recreated as otherwise the chapter information will not be added !!!
[Muxer] use chapter information from the input video file if available
[Muxer] + [OneClick] disable/enable the chapter selection box based upon the selected container and device type
2752 [MKV Muxer] ignore invalid subtitle files
2751 [HD Streams Extractor] improved handling of audio tracks with unknown parameters
2750 [Worker] fixed rare invisible progress window (regression of 2743)
2749 [Update] fixed a rare crash when a restart is required and MeGUI is already closed
Especially please test the chapter handling. I could likely not test all use cases.

Hi all:

Seems that after the last couples of updates downmix multichannel to stereo is
somehow deprecated, although conversion don't crash it last forever and must be cancel.
No problem in doing the downmix outside Megui, with the Eac3to in Megui folder.

Thanks.

Thanks for the report. Could you please post a log and/or more details? I did several 5.1 to 2.0 encodes and all of them worked.

would it be possible to implement better x265 GUI support? currently you can only choose between the presents or use the cmd line. there are no nice windows with knobs to play with (for people unfamiliar with the cmd line options) like there are in case with x264

LigH
7th June 2017, 07:32
I believe, previously Zathor hesitated to implement more basic parameters while x265 was in heavy development, and the set of command line options changing a lot. Already in v2.4 now, I hope that the most common parameters are quite stable now, I would dare him to be a little bolder too. ;)

sneaker_ger

It doesn't really make much sense. There are a bazillion "knobs". People who are too lazy to read the documentation and just want "to play" will only shoot themselves in the foot.

LigH
7th June 2017, 09:47
Then why did it make sense to support so many for x264?

I don't recommend to implement all of them. There is still the "custom command line". But a few commonly used, similar to x264, could be added?

Who said it did? :p

(though I believe x265 is more complicated than x264)

Im just looking for some rather basic stuff like deblocking options to set, number of reference frames and blu-ray compatibility. these could be useful even for people knowing not that much about encoding.

I'll confess I like the way the advanced options are implemented in the x264 encoder configuration, because when you change a speed preset or tuning etc the appropriate advanced options are changed to their new defaults, making it easy to see which settings they use. If ever I need to know for some reason but I can't remember, that's where I look.

Hi Zathor, I hope you're well :) . Please, would you return "L-SMASH Works" as an indexing option for VC-1 video? It used to be possible but currently it's grayed-out. Thank you.

That's interesting. Some years ago (Edit: it was May 2015) when I first tried to encode VC-1 video with MeGUI I had trouble with both FFMS and L-SMASH. Muxing the VC-1 as an .mkv led to artifacts in the output using either indexer. However, after much trial and error, I learned that muxing VC-1 as a .ts file then indexing with L-SMASH output artifact-free video (not the case with VC-1/.ts and FFMS; this output still had artifacts). So that's been my goto method for VC-1 sources. It's been about a year since last I did this, but a couple new-to-me Blu-rays are VC-1 and I'm again encountering artifacts using FFMS and .mkv. I realize that this isn't an issue with MeGUI, and it might not even be an issue with FFMS but instead an issue with my specific setup (multi-threading, perhaps?). If it comes to it I could single-thread any new VC-1 sources, but I'd prefer not to. Is there any way in MeGUI you can still have VC-1 video defualt to FFMS but also allow L-SMASH as an option? I find myself curious to check if VC-1/.ts/L-SMASH still works for me. Or is there any way you know to index a VC-1/.ts with L-SMASH independent of MeGUI (not to veer off-topic ;) ). Thanks for your help.

LouieChuckyMerry,
Both FFMs and L-Smash will index automatically if no index file is found. Simply create a script yourself such as
LWLibavVideoSource("D:\video.mkv")
and video.mkv will be indexed the first time you run it.

Are you limiting ffms2 to a single thread (there's an option in MeGUI's settings)? In my experience it fixes a lot of ffms2 problems. ie
FFVideoSource("D:\video.mkv", threads=1)
and remove any fpsnum & fpsden stuff MeGUI is adding to the script for ffms2 if you haven't tried it already.

I'll try this as soon as I can demux then remux the videos as .ts files. Thanks :) .

Update: After indexing several of the VC-1/.ts files with FFMS, then changing the "LoadPlugin()" line from ffms2.dll to LSMASHSource.dll and the "FFVideoSource" to "LWLibavVideoSource", I ran some 2000 frame Trim tests. The results are great, no artifacts. So, as a workaround I created a new profile by adding these lines to an existing profile and renaming it accordingly. I still hope that Zathor is willing to return "LSMASHWorks" as a non-default option for VC-1 video :) .

FFMS is limited to a single thread and I'll run a Trim test with the fpsnum and fpsden and threads additions removed. Thanks for the idea.

Update: I'll run some tests ASAP and post the results.

UpdateUpdate: I was finally able to run some tests. An FFMS/.ts combination resulted in much more (and worse) artifacts, with or without the fpsnum and fpsden and threads addition; an FFMS/.mkv combination resulted in the same artifacts (and frequency), with or without the fpsnum and fpsden and threads addition. Also, the results were the same regardless of indexing the source with video and audio or only video. Still, thanks for the thought :) . Ahhh, were you suggesting removing the "fpsnum" and "fpsden" additions but keeping the "threads" bit?

MeGUI sometimes completly crash for me when I encode some audiofiles.
It does preparation fine, the encode is fine, even the final outputfile is complete and plays fine, but the finish step makes MeGUI crash. For some reason not always.
Currently I observe it for mp3 and ac3 output and 32-Bit and 64-Bit version of MeGUI.
The log is not that helpful, it ends at the encoding step:

__film = last
__t0 = __film.trim(67380, 75020)

The Script Creator's Preview's frame count and duration calculations are off by a frame. The frame numbers and timings are correct, but the totals are a frame short.

http://preview.ibb.co/bS2Z05/preview.gif

I normally wouldn't have noticed or cared, but I've been encoding some BBC NTSC videos where I'd been de-interlacing the video sections and deblending the 25fps sections with SRestore and encoding as VFR. I was using MeGUI's preview to check the SRestore sections had much the same duration as if I'd simply de-interlaced, then adjusting the Trim lengths a little if need be. ie

Yadif(mode=1)
Trim(1,114).SRestore()
Would ideally have the same duration as:

Yadif(mode=1)
Trim(1,114).SelectEven()

For that example I think MeGUI's preview said the difference was 11ms while Avisynth says 19ms. Not much variation there I'll admit, but it can add up and I'd been so anal about it, only to put Info() at the end of a script and discover MeGUI had been fibbing.

It may help to change the masking settings. If not:
The last version with support for that ancient xvid version was MeGUI 2546. Either use xvid 1.3.x with the recent MeGUI or xvid 1.2.x with MeGUI 2546 (or older).

Btw why do you want to use such an old version?

Anything new about my crashing MeGUI at the step "[job1] Finalizing encoder" for audiofiles?
Preliminary log file only. During closing of MeGUI the well formed log file will be written.

Crashdump of MeGUI 32-Bit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9p0ydkx4w2gqcxy/MeGUI.exe.10376.dmp?dl=1

example script I used:
global MeGUI_darx = 4
global MeGUI_dary = 3

AVISource("1.avi", audio=true).AssumeFPS(25,1).Assumetff()

ConverttoYV12()

__film = last
__t0 = __film.trim(75033, 95033)
__t0

QTGMC(Denoiser="dfttest", Preset="Slow", EdiMode="NNEDI3", EdiThreads=8, Sharpness=1.0) #Preset="Slower" "Ultra Fast"

Or it's my PC? :confused:

Sorry, I cannot help much with that as AviSource + DirectShowSource may lead to unpredicted behaviour. Test it again with a simple script - e.g. lsmash with the extracted audio track and report back.

There is error at HVS Masking: Lumi setting. I using Megui 2760.
I changed xvid_encraw folder with this link
http://megui.tmebi.de/test/xvid_encraw-2009-05-30.zip
The HVS Masking error is related to Job 1, see later.

The error in Job 4:
-[Information] Log for job4 (video, VTS_01_1.avs -> )
...
"C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\MeGUI-2760-32 X121UOF\tools\xvid_encraw\xvid_encraw.exe" -i "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\NYZGL\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.avs" -pass1 "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\NYZGL\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.stats" -bitrate 1593 -max_key_interval 250 -chigh 30 -clow 15 -max_bframes 1 -bquant_ratio 162 -bquant_offset 0 -vhqmode 4 -bvhq -qmatrix "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\MeGUI-2760-32 X121UOF\matrices\eqm_v3lr.xcm" -nopacked -imin 1 -bmin 1 -pmin 1 -threads 2 -par 1
...
--[Information] [2.7.2017 02:12:02] Process exits with error: 0xFFFFFFFF (-1)

I can't reproduce the error in my system (W 7, last Avs+, your xvid_encraw) and this .bat encode:

xvid_encraw -i "test.avs" -pass1 "test.stats" -bitrate 1593 -max_key_interval 250 -chigh 30 -clow 15 -max_bframes 1 -bquant_ratio 162 -bquant_offset 0 -vhqmode 4 -bvhq -qmatrix "eqm_v3ulr_rev3.xcm" -nopacked -imin 1 -bmin 1 -pmin 1 -threads 2 -par 1
pause

I used "eqm_v3ulr_rev3.xcm" from https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=551562#post551562 because I don't have any ...megui\matrices folder and don't found eqm_v3lr.xcm

Do you have MeGUI-2760-32 X121UOF\matrices\eqm_v3lr.xcm?

Try to make a .bat file with:

"C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\MeGUI-2760-32 X121UOF\tools\xvid_encraw\xvid_encraw.exe" -i "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\NYZGL\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.avs" -pass1 "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\NYZGL\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.stats" -bitrate 1593 -max_key_interval 250 -chigh 30 -clow 15 -max_bframes 1 -bquant_ratio 162 -bquant_offset 0 -vhqmode 4 -bvhq -qmatrix "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\MeGUI-2760-32 X121UOF\matrices\eqm_v3lr.xcm" -nopacked -imin 1 -bmin 1 -pmin 1 -threads 2 -par 1
pause

And run it. If also crash is not a MeGUI problem.

-[Error] Log for job1 (video, VTS_01_1.avs -> )

This job crash showing xvid_encraw HELP because the -masking parameter is not supported by this old xvid_encraw, yes with the MeGUI default:

Anything new about my crashing MeGUI at the step "[job1] Finalizing encoder" for audiofiles?

Try this script:
AVISource("1.avi", audio=true).AssumeFPS(25,1)
trim(75033, 95033)
KillVideo()
SSRC(48000)
Normalize()

Morku

Try this script:
AVISource("1.avi", audio=true).AssumeFPS(25,1)
trim(75033, 95033)
KillVideo()
SSRC(48000)
Normalize()

Gives error: Error parsing avs file
Input audio sample format to SSRC must be float. line 4

Without "SSRC(48000)", finalizing step makes MeGUI crash, too.

Next try, adding "ConvertAudioToFloat()"
AVISource("1.avi", audio=true).AssumeFPS(25,1)
trim(75033, 95033)
KillVideo()
ConvertAudioToFloat()
SSRC(48000)
Normalize()

MeGUI crash already by trying to open the avs file.

I also tried changing 'Prefered Decoder' from LWLibavAudioSource to NicAudio and DirectShow, but it still crash at finalizing.
There I found a little cosmetic bug. Changing to FFAudioSource, DirectShowSource and BassAudio and close MeGUI normally, the Prefered Decoder keeps saved. Changing to NicAudio, MeGUI changes Prefered Decoder to LWLibavAudioSource after restart MeGUI (currently testing with 32-Bit version).

Soooooo last try. I extracted wav with VirtualDub, put wav into Audio Input, Queue, Start, Encoding, Finalizing and crash...
Preliminary log file only. During closing of MeGUI the well formed log file will be written.

It may help to change the masking settings. If not:
The last version with support for that ancient xvid version was MeGUI 2546. Either use xvid 1.3.x with the recent MeGUI or xvid 1.2.x with MeGUI 2546 (or older).

Btw why do you want to use such an old version?

Encode is better quality with the sharpening filter in the old version

And run it. If also crash is not a MeGUI problem.

This job crash showing xvid_encraw HELP because the -masking parameter is not supported by this old xvid_encraw, yes with the MeGUI default:

-masking [integer] : HVS masking mode (None:0, Lumi:1, Variance:2) (0)

i deleted -masking 1 value and added -lumimasking.
problem fixed. now i am using xvid_encraw-2009-05-30.
thanks:)

... I extracted wav with VirtualDub,..

Maybe the audio is not a PCM WAV.

To extract audio from avi use ..\megui\tools\avimux_gui\AVIMux_GUI.exe

- Load avi
- Select avi
- Generate data source from files
- Select desired audio track (remember Delay if any)
- Right click mouse button
- Extract binary

Gives error: Error parsing avs file
Input audio sample format to SSRC must be float. line 4

SSRC (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/SSRC) must convert the audio to float automatically.

I extracted a .raw file like you described with AVIMux-GUI.exe. It can't be loaded in MeGUI. Renaming to .wav doesn't work neither.

SSRC must convert the audio to float automatically.
Hm... seems like, it doesn't.

Do you have a avi file of 58 GB?
That can be a problem.

Try:

...\megui\tools\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe -i "1.avi" -vn -acodec pcm_s16le audio.wav

Hm... seems like, it doesn't.

Yep, seems a Avs+ bug, I must report it.

Work fine with AviSynth 2.60

BTW the input is already 48000 Hz then the SSRC(48000) is not needed.

Filesize is 68,1GB, but it never was a problem in past.

Now I think we are on the right track.

I replaced AVS+ with AVS260 ICL build.

When I load my avs and start encoding, I get an error:
--[Error] [03.07.2017 14:48:08] An error occurred: Input audio sample format to SSRC must be float.

Your example script still won't load, because of float error. So you are sure, it's a bug in AVS+?

This is interesting, because like you said my input already is 48000 Hz.
I wonder why it is a problem to keep the option "Sample Rate: Change to 48000 Hz".
When I check the log, MeGUI is able to detect when no change is needed, like this:
--[Information] [03.07.2017 14:48:07] ignoring downmix as there is only 2 channel(s)

So, I changed the option Sample Rate to: Keep Original Sample Rate.
Loaded my avs files and every audio encoding is fine! No Finalizing crash anymore!
Hz output is as input 48000 Hz.
But I like to keep the option Change to 48000 Hz for the case if input is not 48000 Hz and I don't need to check if I have to change the option.

So, going back to AVS+ r2508
now, keep the option to "Keep Original Sample Rate" and tried all my scripts in Queue twice. No crashes anymore!
