I do manually create the QP file with the chapter creator feature.
It does appear to either not be accurate with the actual frame number I set it to, or the fact that my video is not 25fps is the issue.

Are there any plans to add support for QTGMC deinterlacing into MeGui? I just managed to get it to work and the difference is night and day, compared to yadif (which is what gets selected by default all the time).
Just look at these:
yadif (http://i.imgur.com/CtLujh6.png) and QTGMC (http://i.imgur.com/IWL519H.png)

do we still need to install net framework 3.5? will it work with 4.5?

iirc, the megui compiled by Zathor is targeted for the Framework .Net 2.0. So, yes it should work with 4.5...

Yes, but I plan to update to 4.0 (Client Profile) in the future as .NET 2.0 is not included within Windows 8 by default. But therefore some changes / checks have to be made so that the change will run without any problems.

Feature request:
Would it be possible/feasible to add a "full screen" option to MeGUI's video preview?

Feature Request:

Sometimes I want the queue to Autostart, sometimes I don't - so the "Autostart Queue" setting is not suitable.

How easy would it be to add a "Start Queue" checkbox to approiate tool dialog boxes? (e.g. File Indexer, HD Streams Extractor, etc)

Similar to the "On completion load files" and "and close" checkboxes.

Me too. I've made a similar request a couple of times as I feel like I spend half my life switching to the Queue tab and right clicking on jobs.
I'd prefer to auto-start individual jobs though, so my solution was to make a job autostart, or automatically run in a new temporary worker etc by holding down the Shift key while clicking in the Queue button, but something similar to the "On completion load files" checkbox would do.
To start the "whole job queue" running, I don't mind switching to the Queue tab and starting it manually though.

I seem to be getting a crash when running 2 workers and they both are doing a oneclick in the queue. I've added the files in folder mode in the one click encoder.

Fixed in 2423. But you need to delete the MeGUI\allprofiles\x265 folder while MeGUI is closed.

2423 [x265] fixed default encoding mode
2422 [x265] added basic x265 encoding support
2421 [Log] do not log progress messages from the FFMpeg encoder
2420 delete devil.dll in the MeGUI root folder if avisynth.dll is not available also
2419 [Update] added possibility to use display names for the update files
added possibility to use .NET requirements for the update files
improved error handling and log output

My patch (http://sourceforge.net/p/mediainfo/patches/78/) is still pending though.

There are several x265 updates daily; may not be easy to define a "stable release" (which is not the same as reaching another milestone).

Kurtnoise

I don't care about stable release (the last one doesn't have presets)...I meant at least a build which fixes this bug (https://bitbucket.org/multicoreware/x265/commits/a85c5f4187948982e44f308174e4ac2130894c7f?at=default).

I've found an easy way to reproduce this OCE 2 worker crash.

1. Make sure 2 worker are enabled.
2. Load 2 files via the OCE.
3. Postpone the 2 oneclick sub jobs.
4. Start the queue and wait for both ext and idx sub jobs to finish.
5. Change the 2 oneclick sub jobs to waiting.
6. Start the queue, MeGUI will crash.

Maybe the oneclick sub jobs need to be limited to only 1 job at one time like how the audio encoding is?

Hello,

x265 encoding works but there is an Frame Rate issue.
My video source is 50 fps and the output is 25 fps.
Some questions :

What kind of muxing system have I to take? MP4, MKV?
How can I have the output frame rate equal to the input frame rate?
Does automatic mode are supported ("One Click Encoder" and "AutoEncode")?

MP4 for the moment...

How can I have the output frame rate equal to the input frame rate?
By using the MP4 Muxer and specify your fps manually...The routine to detect fps from the source is not perfect because MediaInfo, the library uses for this, is not able to detect fps from hevc streams yet. I'm working on this.

Does automatic mode are supported ("One Click Encoder" and "AutoEncode")?

it should...unless I miss something. But note that this encoder is not recommended yet for backups. Use x264 instead...

Hello,

I tried to mux a .mp4 x265 video (50fps) with a .m4a AAC audio track.
I use the MeGui MP4 muxer (Ctrl+5) but the video still play in 25 fps : the video is 2 more longer than the audio.

Any idea of what happen?

[...]
Maybe the oneclick sub jobs need to be limited to only 1 job at one time like how the audio encoding is?

Please try this build:
http://megui.org/test/MeGUI.zip

EDIT: I can reproduce the problem with AVS 2.5.8 and FFMS 2.19 (10 out of 10). When using FFM r687 (~15 months old) or AviSynth+ there is from 10 attempts only 1 crash. It seems MeGUI (or AVS/FFMS) will crash if more than one thread is opening avisynth. Therefore I have limited this now to 1 - you will not notice any speed differences or that only one worker is running.

Could you retry with this mp4box version (http://www.mediafire.com/?2dea8gtuvc61ru5) (just overwrite the current one in the mp4box folder from the tools repository)?

Hello,
I have changed the MP4BOX.
It's working if I mux manualy the .hevc file (temporary item of MeGui) with the MP4 muxer.
If I take the .mp4 (only video .hevc muxed with the MP4 container) no change; the file plays at 25 fps.
Can you have a look to my logs; there a issue for find ?

Regards.

Please try this build:

....

Thanks Zathor, this build works fine.

Not sure if this got missed amongst all the x265 chatter:

Feature Request:

Sometimes I want the queue to Autostart, sometimes I don't - so the "Autostart Queue" setting is not suitable.

How easy would it be to add a "Start Queue" checkbox to approiate tool dialog boxes? (e.g. File Indexer, HD Streams Extractor, etc)

Similar to the "On completion load files" and "and close" checkboxes.

As said earlier,

The routine to detect fps from the source is not perfect because MediaInfo, the library uses for this, is not able to detect fps from hevc streams yet. I'm working on this.

@Shevek: it might be a good idea to create this feature request on the megui tracker. Hence, we will not forget it.

Good day to you guys.

I can see is that the MeGUI running x265 encoder does not seem to follow ABR (say, 300kbps) that I have set. It will somehow mysteriously go way below that value, even way below 100kbps. I do not know if this is issue with how MeGUI handle the x265 or it is an issue with x265 itself. Please advise.
:thanks:

Please stop cross-posting. Complaining in only one thread is enough.

Forgive me but I have posted on x265 thread but a guy over there said the issue has something to do with MeGUI instead of x265. That is why I post the question here, at the Bug Reports thread.

Anyway, I thank you guys in advance.:thanks:

Well, so I will try to repeat the hints given elsewhere:

At the moment, x265 is in such an early development state that there won't be any warranty for correctly working implementations of all features. Target bitrate prediction is a quite delicate issue, it depends a lot on the techniques to remove redundancies and efficiently spare bitrate; when the encoding methods change, the rate control techniques may have to adapt to these changes.

Try again with new binary releases next week, and it may be better. Try again in the next month, and it may already be satisfying. Or accidently broken again. Who knows.

MeGUI can only serve the video to the encoder, but only the encoder is responsible for controlling the bitrate.

Thank you for your informative reply which a not-so-technical enthusiast like me can easily understand. In that case I guess I just keep on giving the latest build a try until maybe after a couple of years x265 will become more and more reliable and better.
:thanks:

Now a question from me: Is it correct that MeGUI wants to downgrade tools (mp4box: r4908 => 4872; tsmuxer: 2.2.3b => 1.12.14b; qaac: 2.27 => 2.25) while updating from core r2418 => r2424? Their server date (10/2013) appears to be older than the local dates (11/2013).

Sorry, that was my fault. It is now correct again. Thanks for the hint!

And a different issue:

My updater now shows me (as third-last entry) a nameless package, version 2358. I believe the name of the package should be "x264_10b". The AutoUpdate.xml contains a matching Name tag for this tool, though...

I do not have this issue. Also in the upgrade.xml no entry with 2358 is available.

I plan to release a new stable build soon. Likely it will be an old development build (4-8 weeks ago) to reduce the probability of unknown problems and also I think that the current x265 build confuses more than it helps. Maybe it is a good idea to hide x265 by default (like with x264 10bit).

Also I will introduce an improved update tool in the future (eta unknown). These are the planned changes (and some may not be implemented at all):
- all update packages will only be applied during shut down of MeGUI
- new full automated mode of update handling (download, install without any user interaction in the background). The old mode will be still available (popup that there are new updates and after you confirm the updates the download will start).
- full switch to 7zip for all update packages
- if the update has a dedicated directory the directory will be completely wiped before the update (removing not needed files). Only exception will be the license.txt of DGIndexNV. Do you know other files which should not be deleted?
- all files in the tools\avisynth_plugin directory will be moved into one package (including yadif+bassaudio)
- better backup handling if enabled (compressed folder content stored in a backup structure)
- better error handling of download failures
- the GUI will be more or less the same. The platform information will be removed.

Any other things which should be changed in that area? Also feedback to the points which I want to change is welcome.

- all update packages will only be applied during shut down of MeGUI

Not so sure about this one... If, for example, a new x264 is available I want to update it on start and then be able to use it straight away.

The way you suggest would mean having to restart MeGUI in order to use the new packages.

- if the update has a dedicated directory the directory will be completely wiped before the update (removing not needed files). Only exception will be the license.txt of DGIndexNV. Do you know other files which should not be deleted?

I like this idea. I always add MKVExtractGUI-2 into the mkvmerge folder so can that be excluded from deletion?

MKVExtractGUI2.exe
MKVExtractGUI2.ini
MKVExtractGUI2_readme.txt

Yes, of course. One of the reasons is that if you currently update x264 while the process is running it will fail.
