Even when I enable <Force DirectShowSource>, DGIndex (or DGAVCIndex) is launched. I this intentional?

Any possibility to use the NV CUDA version of the DG tools? Perhaps with a Hidden Options file pointing to the directory of these tools?

Could you add a hidden options file for <x264+m2ts>?

Any possibility to customize the default type of resizing filter? (I could possibly edit the hdconverttox....avs during the audio extraction phase, right?)

about nv cuda: while i have the license from Neuron2 (i buy it several weeks ago), my building environment is LINUX or a WIN2003 Server without discrete video cards

Just wondering: You are using eac3to for demuxing audio and subs - and it works flawlessly. I just noticed that tsmuxer seems to be much faster - about twice as fast / half time for demuxing.

Also, for some reason, all m2ts encodes crash WMP12, and Media Center, but play just fine in VLC. Anyone have a solution to that one?

On wmv encoding, I still get the Cscript error that I posted above, but eac3to works ok.

On muxing divx with ac3, AVIMuxGui Crashes. Here's the report.

EDIT: Actually AVIMuxGui Crashes on launch no matter what. Double clicking the app in a folder causes an insta-crash.

Also, it seems the AC3 file that got split from the movie was only the AC3 file of the 1st vob. Its only 25 minutes long, vs 1:47 for the whole film.

Can I suggest that when you hit the make report button, that the report automatically opens in notepad. Saves time when trying to navigate back to your HDC folder.

buzz, i know your final output size calculation is still in beta, well iirc thats what you stated last time, set final size to 8192mb, movie turned out just over 11GB, using copy audio with dtshd-ma, with an AVC stream. Just letting you know, also, avimuxgui crashes within utilities, 1.17.7 works ok, have you added 1.17.8 in your package? As i know this crashes as a stand alone program, in vista 32 anyway.

Im out of town for work for a few days, back on friday, I will check audio bitrate then. avimux 1.17.7 works fine, the latest 1.17.8 always crashes for me when using it as a standalone program, and from launching it within HDC utilities. could you use 17.7 in your package to check if this solves the issue? Im sure it will, as i have read in several places 17.8 crashes upon launch for everyone.

It looks like HDC used the figure of 8192MB as the video size, and then adds the audio to it, resulting in 11GB total. I know DTSHD-MA files vary between 3GB-4GB, depending on length of track.

buzzqw, why does HDC have to extract the video out every time it encodes? It is a waste of time and space. If I'm encoding blu-ray for example, the movie itself is 30GB. I have to rip it to my HDD first, and it HDC extracts it again, I need about 60GB of HDD, which I don't have. Not only that, copying 30GB again would take enormously long.

OK. I tried WMV encoding again. I didn't get the CScript error like before, but it still bombed out on an error message, but the window closed before I could read it. It gave an error code, with no explanation. Sorry I can't be more specific.

also, I tried launching AVIMuxGui 1.17.7, and it bombed for me as well.

Is it possible to have the option to use vdubmod for avi stream muxing? Thats what I use when AVIMuxGui dies on me.

Great update :D, forcing directshow seems like a good idea if you do not want eac3to to demux streams (less time taken for overall job),but, im guesing forcing directshow for hi def tracks such as truehd and dtshd-ma will be ok as the arcsoft filters will be used as the decoders (if you have it installed)....correct?

ok, that being the case, i don't see any point in spending more time and effort into final output size calculation when using dtshd-ma copy audio? It will save you work, and, all that is required is a final output size calculated for video only, taking into account an overhead of 3GB-4GB for the audio track in the end. This way, the user can estimate the final output file size themselves using 3GB-4GB as a guide line.

The manual still refers to v1327.
For some reason you have deleted under "Compression Test" that for 1-pass encodes the crf (or quant) as selected by the user in the Video Encoder Tab is used for the compression test.
I find this to be a useful feature because it allows to estimate the expected video file size of a 1-pass (crf) encode. With 2 or 3 quick trial-and-error compressioin tests one can estimate the resulting crf (or quant) to approximately fill the target medium with a fast 1-pass encode (actually these iterations could even be automated....) ;)

buzzqw, why does HDC have to extract the video out every time it encodes? It is a waste of time and space. If I'm encoding blu-ray for example, the movie itself is 30GB. I have to rip it to my HDD first, and it HDC extracts it again, I need about 60GB of HDD, which I don't have. Not only that, copying 30GB again would take enormously long.

If you're using AnyDVD, you should be able to access the files directly off the disc without having to rip them to HDD first.

Otherwise, I'm not sure how else to go about doing this. Even commercial DVD ripping tools required at least twice the DVD's capacity in available HDD space for the exact same reason.

And how can you expect to deal in BR discs if you don't have at least 100 gb of free disc space? Even an external USB disc can be cheaply aquired for use as temporary working space.

I'd like to ask a stupid question.

What is the difference between HDC h264 at crf 0 (for lossless encode) and the lossless h264 profile in autoMKV? I ask because the AutoMKV profile produced nice high quality encodes at only slightly higher filesize than crf 18, and was about twice as fast at doing it. I'd like to be able to replicate that behavior in HDC.

Everyone says CRF 18 is transparent, but it really isn't, especially in scenes with lots of fog or smoke. And CRF 16 increases the file size exponentially, as well as the encode times, and doesn't produce much better of a picture. Lossless encodes (from AutoMKV) looked great, and were a great filesize to boot.

Any possibility of getting that profile, or something close to it, in HDC for h264 encodes?

Edit: I think I figured it out. I just took the command line from AutoMKV and copied it into the HDC profiles file. Encoding now. Got a few warnings:

Mayhaps someone with better knowledge of x264 can help me sort out these warning. And filesize too, because it seems obvious from that bitrate that I'm going to get a huge file. At least the encoding is quick.

It seems there shouldn't be a CRF value if we're using x264 lossless encoding.

Edit 2: On a new issue. I fixed my problem with WMP12 crashing when trying to open an M2ts file. Also fixed the annoying com surrogate crash that MS blames on Haali media splitter. I had this software called AVSYOU that had crappy conflicting codecs that were messing me up, but I digress.

Anyway, since I had m2ts playback fixed (included BR content decrypted with AnyDVD) i decided to give BR conversion a go again, and here's what happenned:

Media Player classic says "Cannot render the file." FFDShow already has VC-1 set to wmv 9. However, media player classic will open the file directly, instead of trying to open the avs.
