you should pass the good FPS
how is good "47.952fps " ???
try with
"C:\HDConvertToX_2.3.566.3972\applications\eac3to.exe" "d:\movies\the hurt locker\bdmv\stream\00020.m2ts" 2:"C:\HDConvertToX_2.3.566.3972\job1\hdconverttox.mkv" -seekToIFrames -23.976
then open the hdconverttox_00020.avs in virtualdub
and check the file information
you can also play the script with mpc and look at duration
but don't know the best way to do that with such a large m2ts.
use neuron2 dgsplit
split at 100mb size
EDIT: if possible please send me (mediafire.com) the sample!

The last plan that I tried WORKED. Setting it to either HALF the number of frames or setting to 23.976 FPS in the deinterlace filters works ..... the video is normal now with normal running time, audio, and in-sync subs

Frozen-Figo
3rd February 2010, 13:30
I think Frozen-Figo is talking about that "popping" sound (sounds like popping a cork from a wine bottle?) when the HDC encode starts. This might be HDC and it might be one of the programs it uses. But I think that's the sound he's talking about.
Yes that's what I'm talking about
i think it's eac3to

Thanks for clearing that, anyway, not a big deal.

Hey, obviously since it's worked for so many people the problem is on my end, just wondering if you could help me out of my mess.
I've been using the app for quite a while ago until I hit a snag. I haven't been using HDConvertToX for a while and just recently decided that I want to see if it could be good for me so I should fix the problem.
The problem I have is that when I load an ifo from a dvd file I've extracted using dvd decryptor and analyze it, I get the correct Run Time, and Display Aspect Ratio but the Movie AR is way off. For some reason it wants to crop over 200 px from every side.
I've tried uninstalling it, ffdshow haali splitter and reinstalling each but to no avail. I'm using Win 7 64-bit, ffdshow tryouts 2010-01-23, and Haali media splitter 19.12.2009.
I've updated to the newest version btw.

make sure in ffdshow you don't have set any resize
i have uploaded a new hdc version, for dvd it will analyze frames starting from 1 minute , should be better

make sure you have used the latest dgindex
you can also open the script (without the tfm()) and check if dgindex has indexed all but not first frames

HDC support TS as input
it will process it with eac3to, and so it's possibile to copy/extract audio

buzzqw,
Ever since I upgraded HDC from 2.2 to 2.3, the interlace pattern test always reports 100% progressive. In 2.2, it was correct with the %ages for interlaced/progressive/telecine.
What changed?
Source is declared tff by a margin of 26/29.
Analyzed 163 sections of five frames
Found Interlace Sections: 0 0.00%
Found progressive Sections:163 100.00%
Found Telecined Sections: 0 0.00%

The Movie is declared to progressive
Source is declared tff by a margin of 42/41.

I keep encountering a bug upgrading from 2.3.566 to 2.3.570 - it says it has downloaded new file, I click OK to close the application, wait the seconds, the .exe is replaced, yet when I run it, it still says 2.3.566. Any thoughts? I'm running Vista 64bit, tried "Run as Administrator", didn't help. Previously updated normally.

Still nothing - the new version is 2.3.571.etc, but still doesn't update.
A question from another sphere: when I analyze a file with the interlace-pattern utility, and it reports the file to be some 90% interlaced, 7% progressive, 4% telecine and some other percentages, which de-interlacing options should I choose? Previously I've used automatic, but since that's removed, I'm at a loss a bit. Maybe mixed progressive/interlaced or interlaced/telecine depending on the second largest part of percentage (the largest is always interlaced)?
And yet another question: since I'm running Vista 64bit with 64-bit capable CPU (Phenom II), is there any advantage of using 64-bit version of x264?
By the way, I'm also interested whether I have to keep the %applications% content up to date myself. Have managed to do that with x264, not much else.
By the way, when encoding the audio file (I chose AC3 format) I always get "Nero decoder doesn't seem to work, will use libav instead". Does that affect the audio quality (or anything else, for that matter) in any way?
buzzqw
10th February 2010, 15:13
make sure you have hdc not running
about analyze : with 90% interlaced i will surely go for Interlaced.
only if results isn't good i will select mixed interlaced/telecine
remember.. you can also try the preview button
And yet another question: since I'm running Vista 64bit with 64-bit capable CPU (Phenom II), is there any advantage of using 64-bit version of x264?
yes ! a gain till 5% in speed. but remember most depends on filters used
By the way, I'm also interested whether I have to keep the %applications% content up to date myself. Have managed to do that with x264, not much else.
the applications within this folder are update with full package, you can always update x264 manually
By the way, when encoding the audio file (I chose AC3 format) I always get "Nero decoder doesn't seem to work, will use libav instead". Does that affect the audio quality (or anything else, for that matter) in any way?
no, quality is the same (or 99% the same).
don't worry.. unless you got very expensive audio equipment you will not ear/notice the difference
BHH
Queelis
10th February 2010, 15:51
Ah, one more thing about deinterlacing: when encoding the command line says [n frames where n is double the amount of the source frame count] @ [twice the frame rate of the source, e.g. 50 instead of 25]. And when I test interlacing pattern, I get ~90% interlaced, and if I choose Interlaced (I think I've only tried Interlaced HQ), it produces double amount of frames, so when I get the exported video (in .mkv), it is twice slower than the sound. Any solutions?

Hi Buzzqw (and any others using DG NVtools...Sharc?)
I've recently gotten a new laptop with an NVIDIA chip so I'm trying to use the DG NVtools. I have the 2006 build and I'm having a few issues.
Based on this report file, you can see that the wrong filename is used for the audio file.
Here's the .ac3 file it's trying to send to MKVmerge..
"C:\HDC\HDC_APP\job1\hdencodertox-pid1.\HDC\MainMovie\StarTrek\VIDEO_TS\TEST T80 3_2ch 48KHz 448Kbps DELAY -492ms.ac3"
It looks like it added the wrong thing between pid1. and ac3
It does this in a 570 and 574 build of HDC.
My other issue is that I wanted to try a quick test before encoding an entire movie, so I used DGIndexNV to create a .dgi file.
The audio file has a length of 1:37 but the dgi file analyzes to only 1:07. It looks like DGIndexNV might be doing a decimate operation? Since 23.97/29.97 * 1:37 =~ 1:07.
The normal DGIndex has ForceFilm and some other options that I don't see in DGIndexNV.
I assume this problem is user error of some sort. If somebody could tell me what I'm doing wrong that would be great.
Thanks!

movie.d2v doesn't exist. Is HDC supposed to copy it there or is this just an incorrect file. If I change it to the original .d2v file
the encode works just fine.

I have (yet another) issue, this time with audio and video synchronization. The start of DVD playing has some splash-screen like introduction of probably the releaser, and then continues with the concert. But when I convert the DVD to an .mkv, the audio of the "splash screen" is skipped leaving me with a difference of audio and video of 17.44 seconds (when encoding audio it says audio overlap detected of 16992ms at 0.00.00 and 448ms at 0.00.00, leaving me with 17.44 seconds of silence). What is the easiest way of making audio start that much later? I don't mind having just silence in the beginning, just don't want to manually adjust the audio every time I play the video.
Edit: BTW, the update is just wrong. It detected a newer version, and then downloaded an even older version than I had (downloaded 2.3.566 again!).

- you can open the mkv with mmg.exe (mkvtoolnix) and insert here the delay
- clean your ie cache
my site is ok

I think the update server does not send the correct cache headers, so your browser, or which one the live update uses, fetches a cached file from the browser cache, and thus copies an old version.
I have this problem with Live update for a long time now, After a lot of browser (FF & IE cache clearing) I finally have installed v4002 and still the update button keeps telling me a new v4001 is available....

@All,
I'm looking for some guidance on using the DG NVtools. I've read this forum and the NVTools forum but I haven't found what I'm looking for yet.
1) Shouldn't an Encode with the NVTools (using DGMultisource) be faster than using MPEG2Source?
From my testing they are equal or MPEG2Source is actually a bit faster. I'm using the following filters: FluxSmoothST(7,7).FFT3DFilter().RemoveGrain(mode=2) while encoding to a CRF 16 single pass MKV file. I get about 23fps encoding, regardless of which method I use. I have a Laptop with the Quadro FX 2700M chipset. My processor is a core 2 duo T9900 (3.06ghz). The harddrive is 7200rpm. This is already 3x faster than my previous laptop's encoding speed, but I thought the NVTools would buy me even a little bit more performance. Maybe I need to configure something in the NVidia control panel?
2) What is the proper way to use a .dgi project file for an MPEG source?
DGIndexNV seems to be doing the decimate for me. Opening the dgi file in HDC tells me it's 29.97 framerate but the duration is too short. Using the Film NTSC deinterlace rountine results in video that plays too quickly even though the sound is ok. I found that I can choose NVTools ForceFilm causes the video to be correct. Is this what I'm supposed to do for a .dgi source? It's a little confusing because HDC is telling me the input is 29.97 but the index file appears to really be done as 23.97. Also, should I use the NVTools Force Film option if I'm using a video_ts.ifo file as the input to HDC?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
EDIT: It appears that my Nvidia chip has only partial acceleration for MPEG2. I did some tests using an h.264 MKV source and the NVTools processing was indeed faster than the "Use Best Decoder" settings.
And another question. Can I use AVS MT in conjunction with the NVTools or will that just cause trouble?
Thanks again.

Actually, it is telling you that 2.3.5744.4001 is available (typo in 3rd number), which is why it thinks it is greater than 2.3.576.4002

please update HDC
it's already fixed

Still not working with 4002.
I tried again with 2.2.526.3840 and got the following. One thing I do notice is that the older version takes longer to run the test.

@gasnyder
update hdc
the previus version will read the fps of dgi input by parsing dgi files.
now it will rely on decoding
Also, should I use the NVTools Force Film option if I'm using a video_ts.ifo file as the input to HDC?
"should work" . just gives hdc the video_ts ifo as input
hdc will concatenate vobs in command line
@romeyo007
you must embed subititle in avi (first option on subtitle)
avi don't muxing of graphical subtitles
for muxing problem.. post the make report
@IndianaRed
numbering fixed. thanks
