I have same 2 movies in the queue. What is the best way to proceed?

If make report does not tell you where the error lies then there should be a easy button say create log which shows up as option after a encode. Just a suggestion

if you got an error, re add your work to queue

Well I posted make report and am watching the folder HDC and no job or temp folders like before. when I saw earlier it also said something like x264 cannot find job/XXXX/ etc. But when I close the error and went to check the HDC folder I could not find anything I could actually post to show this

Well I dont know I clicked start queue and nothing happens. I clicked just the encode and still nothing?

I think you introduced the queue bug again... in latest beta. I am not even sure whcih version I should be using. I downloaded from last link you posted of beta

I think chapter extractor was working fine even though it was chapter extractor error. I saw in the dos window when I saw the error message come up saying cant find job folder etc. Since the job folder was not created it could not find the reference. This is what I think

Mrsash, you can try to take out each batch command and run them separately, to see which fails and then you will be able to record the error msg. Look in the file "hdconverttox.bat" in the HDC folder.

OK using the beta version 2.0.423.3351

started queue with DVD. Queue works but it is 8 hours on a quad core and still not finished the first movie. Usually conversion takes about 3 or so hours for a 2 pass encode on my machine.

Assume 23.976 fps

use the free avs string for video
and use eac3to with slowdown for audio
Audio and video encode perfectly but muxing fails for MP4 and MKV.
All works well if muxed with YAMB or MKVmergeGUI.

Hi

First, thank you very very much for this nice software :)
I really appreciate to be able to choose many audio tracks along with many subtitles

But is there a way to choose the number of threads x264 runs ?

I have an I7 920 overclocked to 3,8 ghz, along with 12GB of ram, to run seven 64bits, but when using HDConvertToX the x264 thread takes only about half cpu ressources and thus it takes over twice the time that ripbot264 takes to encode the same movie using the same codec and bitrate

Don't take me wrong, I still prefer your software for much greater flexibility, I'm just wondering if there is a way to speed it up by enabling full power of x264 multithread encoding

Thanks

can you write the error on muxing ?

@Mrsash AND @harycover

hdc isn't slow, since it's a gui.

you must check profile used and avsynth script
x264 is used in automatic thread detection (cores*1.5), so there isn't any need to change it.

More over HDC SUPPORT Avisynth MT, just install it and check the appriate check in advanced options (latest beta)

more over you can compare gui, just x264 versions, x264 options used and avisynth script ;)

BHH

Thanks :)

Can your gui be used with x264 64 bits ? apparently ripbot264 includes one, I've tried switching the exe but it doesn't seem to work, maybe if you add some encoding options for x264 (since it's the most popular codec these days) I used to use command line for my very first encodings (dvd) but since then my brain have became lazy and now I prefer nice guis and leave the hard work for smarter persons like you :)

I use no filters (denoise etc) so I'm pretty sure the settings are the same

I have to go off for the moment but I'll do a bit more serious investigations and tell you

btw : how to know the x264 version ? a right click to check properties doesn't tell

Cheers

Adub
10th July 2009, 19:59
To check the x264 version, simply navigate to the containing folder with the command line, execute the executable, and read the output. Version number should be near the top.

buzzqw
10th July 2009, 20:02
or do x264 --version

about 64bit: should work , but i haven't a 64bit os.. so i cannot test
just try it and report any errors

There are no error messages but the audio is out of synch.
The video is muxed back to 25 fps while the audio is correctly left at 23.976 fps.

I did notice that mkvmergeGUI will prompt the user to manually input the framerate since ...
You're adding an AVC/H.264 elementary stream to the output file. mkvmerge cannot determine the number of frames per second for such files itself.
Therefore you have to set this parameter yourself on the 'format specific options' page.

If you don't do this then mkvmerge will assume 25 fps.
I had no problems with YAMB eventhough the audio framerate setting is greyed out ... having no entry at all
(the video framerate is correctly reported as 23.976).

It's all good

Assume 23.976 fps

hdc don't parse freeavs for checking change of framerate, and so mux is done at 25

you should use the framerate changer already present (srestore)

i will add in future update the possibility of changing framerate

i can only suggest now to tweak manually the muxing line

Is there any chance that HDC could automatically reduce the framerate of PAL movies downto 23.976 fps
(in a similar way that it performs IVTC on NTSC movies) ?

I'm new to this tool and looking to create an M2TS file that I want to copy an AVC video file, encode a True_hd 5.1/7.1 audio file to LPCM or other lossless audio and keep the AC3 core from the True_hd audio as a second audio track. I can see where I can copy the AVC file and I see an option to keep the AC3 code only but does that mean I can't get the converted Lossless track in addition to the AC3 core? Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I plan on using these files for streaming to a PS3 if that is possible.

I plan on using these files for streaming to a PS3 if that is possible.

hdc apply the same audio codec to all tracks.

i suggest to use flac , since it's lossless

What is Avisynth MT? I have Avisynth 2.58 which is presently installed on my PC is that what you mean?

The first movie has been done and took about 11 hrs

here is the multithreaded avisynth http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144852

and , moreover you have selected as deinterlace "Mixed interlaced/telecine" and this routines must check for BOTH interlace and telecine.
this must be slow.

just use Interlaced or Film NTSC (29.97->23.976), you will have a huge boost of speed (but not in quality of deinterlace)

I had chosen the same filter for these movies before so I dont understand why it would take 4x longer with this beta. Anyway did you mean the difference in quality is not visible between Interlaced and Interlaced/telecine?

Anyway went to the site you advised for avisynth MT but am a bit confused what it does and what benefits it has?

Also HDC is working on the second movie and I see in task manager it only is using 25% of CPU where earlier is was using the rest of the CPU after the usual process. I tried setting it to high proirty but it still stuck at 25%. Hope this helps

just copy (overwriting) the avisynth.dll and mt.dll in your system32 folder
on hdc, on advanced settings check Use multithreaded avisynth (and save setting)

cpu usage depends on x264 options and script, if you are using the latest beta YOU must manually update to latest x264.exe too

on monday i will publish a new full package

@Buzzqw

@Tiberiust @Acid-Burn

please try this build : http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX_beta.exe

it should rip subs and pgc correctly, edit when working with multiple dvd in queue
for any problem remember to post the report

thanks

BHH

Sorry it took me so long, I had to get the original DVDs back from my mate I was encoding for.

But complete success!. That new build ripped the individual PGCs from multiple DVD queue entries and put the finished files in the right place perfectly. Only thing I noticed was that during x264 encoding it did not report the usual progress timer and percentage of completion.

Tks a lot - this GUI looking more and more awesome every day!

Buzz as you said I only used interlaced and it now 8 hrs and the movie is still not done? Is something wrong with the beta. I was using the same filters before without taking so much time to encode?

@Tiberiust

thanks! i asked this because i have upload too many beta.. , but i am glad.. you have tested the latest one :)

@Mrsash

1) are you using beta build or new build ?
if you are using the beta build , Do you have update the x264 to rev 1179+ ?

and How a gui can be slower ?
it's just a matter of preset used, and the new beta required the new x264.exe AND the new profile.
and , of course of deinterlace used.

so, sorry Mrsash, but i cannot help on "slower" encoding

Ok that makes sense. I have not updated. Can you tell me how to update to latest version? Any instructions I can check somewhere.
I was so focused on the fact that you have fixed the AR bug by using seperate folders I completely forgot update x264
thanks

I had that, but dont work. I try re-download package.
I discovered what he occurs. With activated the AutoAnalyse option and exactly thus I have that to analyze the archive to be able again to make the conversion, even though this becomes autoanalyse useless:)

I will use the new version. However dont you think need instructions on default setup on the first page need to be updated since you want everyone to test it.
I downloaded latest package of x264 and it was about 1 mb and ran it. All it did was show me a cmd screen for a micro second and then it was gone. Anyway I how to check if latest version of x264 was installed correctly?

thanks

the full package HAS always the latest x264.exe

You don't need to donwload any other software (aside avisynth/ffdshow...)

Wow cool

Some questions finally

1. As you advised before if I do this does it will do mutithreaded encoding right?

just copy (overwriting) the avisynth.dll and mt.dll in your system32 folder
on hdc, on advanced settings check Use multithreaded avisynth (and save setting)

do I need to download this and instal this still or is it included in package

2. I dont need to update to latest ffdshow do I?

3. As Tiberiust mentioned he did multiple PGC ripping. IS this still choose each PGC for each episode on a episode disc or is there a way of adding all easily?

thanks

- Avisynth must be first installed, then "just copy (overwriting) the avisynth.dll and mt.dll in your system32 folder
on hdc, on advanced settings check Use multithreaded avisynth (and save setting)"

- updating ffdshow don't break anything.. (usually) so, update

- you must select each pgc one at time, no multiple pgc selections are possibile

Do I need to update ffdshow. Everthing works now so dont really want to do so just in case

Also downloaded custom dlls and build and extracted the avisynth.dll and mt.dll in system32 folder but it did not ask me overwrite anything. And I have avisynth installed already.

OK did a search and found it under "Dlls and Buildlogs" folder in system32

There are some issues in update functionality in HDC.
1) When I pressed "update" button, НDC told me about new version availability, bla-bla-bla then downloaded HDConvertToX_new.exe. I manually deleted old HDConvertToX.exe and renamed HDConvertToX_new.exe to HDConvertToX.exe. Is it possible to do it automatically?
2) is concerned to 1). If I do not rename HDConvertToX_new.exe and run HDC via launching HDConvertToX_new.exe.
I press "update" button, НDC tell me about new version availability, bla-bla-bla. I press "yes", then HDC without any downloading immediately report me "Download completed! Please use HDConvertToX_new.exe"
