@zygo

please redownload hdc update, m2v extraction should be fixed

and chapter in audio too

BHH

no worries, my current encode has another 34 hours to run so ill try it then.

what happens if i edit the batch file thats currently running (can i???). otherwise i can see it is going to try and mux in the "chapters/ac3" file that was created wrongly quite a few hours ago???

also, for any1 running windows7 64bit edition, the java.com site automaticly installs the WRONG version of java on your system. this makes the java lines in the hdc batch file fail (subtitle conversion)
you have to manually download the 64bit version of java and install it over the top (then the java calls work again)

cheers :)

have you copyed audio or encoded ?

BHH
I have encoded. I did some work. The problem is here:
manulaly extracted ac3 audio by DGIndex.exe is 2:50:33 length- ok,
wav audio extracted by eac3to.exe is 2:50:27 length - wrong

Another issue. I have found HDConvertToX_profile.txt in the root of HDC folder and in "applications" folder. The content of these two files is not equals. But it is not the high spot;-)
All x264 profiles in HDConvertToX_profile.txt from the root HDC folder (and only this file is used I think) have psy-rd switch
but "X264;7;Extreme Quality" doesn't have!! Often I use this profile and suppose I get some quality regressions without psychovisual optimization enabled.

Another question @buzzqw. Why do you use in HDC experimental kAVAQ x264 build)?

buzzqw
21st June 2009, 14:56
extreme quality don't use trellis, and psy-rd requires trellis...
about kAVAQ build: i like it, it gives in crf encoding very good results

ok.)
So I want to add suggestion about my problem with audio and video synchronization. Could you make an alternative mode when DGindex extract both audio and video and only after this encode audio with eac3to?

I just tried using your program last night. It looks really great and I love the features, but I have 1 problem... Where is the output??

I tried feeding it "A bugs life" & "Ratatoullie" BRs ripped by MakeMKV into an MKV with 1080p AVC video, DTS-MA & subs. I set it to transcode audio only to FLAC.

It ran through the FLAC encode then make a sword-like schwing sound the CLI closed and there were no error messages or output files.

I tried looking for a logfile in the program but couldn't find one.

I assume I'm doing something wrong, but I looked through your manual and wasn't finding it of much use with this issue. I also used the search function on this thread. It looked like I did everything correctly... but I dunno.

Thanks for what looks like a very promising program and help in advance!

@Karkas: "Make Report" would be helpfull! ;)
Go to: Advanced Options > Utilities > Make Report

About output:
Was conversion succesfull?
Did you select path and name under "Save File ..."?
Did you check your work folder and program folder?

@Karkas: "Make Report" would be helpfull! ;)
Go to: Advanced Options > Utilities > Make Report :rolleyes:I must have overlooked that in the options... thanks!

Was conversion succesfull?I dont know. It never gave me a message saying that it was sucessfull, just reached the end of the audio encode, gave the sound then the cmd prompt closed out. Never saw a message it was remuxing video & audio back into MKV.

Did you select path and name under "Save File ..."?Yes, and the file was definately not there. Even tried twice by saving to different folder.

Did you check your work folder and program folder? I did check the temp folder (I think it was called) and the flac file was there and playable.

Sorry, I'm a tad fuzzy on the details & names as I am currently at work and away from my computer.

BHH, I have a feature request:

I have many MKVs with MPEG2/AC3 that I have created in the past. Now, I'd like to transcode them to AVC/MKV. All of my testing is successful except chapters extraction. Apparently HDC does not recognize the chapters in the MKV. I can use MKVExtract to get them myself and mux at the end, but it would be nice for HDC to handle this scenario.

Thanks.

buzzqw
22nd June 2009, 14:33
please noee, send me a sample (50mb) with your mpeg/ac3+chapter

EDIT: no need. i have replicate the issue.
the problem is due to eac3to not able to detect/extract chapter from mkv

i will look further

Just comparing resizing and wondering if you know where the difference comes from. The below files info is from mediainfo I have used autocrop in Megui without anamorphic option and have done the same in HDC but the results are greatly different. Curious Why?

The original files resolution is 720x480 Megui cropped to ( 34, 0, -32, -2) resolution LanczosResize(656,480) and HDC LanczosResize(512,336,0,0,-0,-0) and asxgui Lanczos4resize(656,496).

hdc haven't detect crop.. so the ar is different, and resolution too

if hdc wasn't able to detect crop, manual put 34, 0, -32, -2 and see what resolution hdc propose

also, try saying NO at mkv muxing

BHH

flebber

When selecting no it did detect crop. It gave values of (640,464,40,8,-40,-8). Which definitely brings it closer to the other results. It seems to be overcropping a bit but I can always check this in visual crop :)

Glad to know now what I was doing wrong previously to get that strange result. The values I got from the visual crop were ( 34, 0, -34, -2).

buzzqw
22nd June 2009, 16:09
with your cropping values, the ar should be similar and more near to 4/3.

i am sorry about forcing/not forcing mkv muxing, BUT you can follow this simply rules:

- if your video file has more then one audio streams, allow mux in mkv, otherwise say no to mux

that's a 5.1 AAC SBR encode
not all application are able to decode the full channels spectrum

if you want not SBR you should rise bitrate or quality of audio

That does seem to be a bug, as he included x264.exe in the applications folder.

Another is that .avi doesn't seem to be on the accepted files list. And it muxes my avi to mkv as soon as I select it! Is this the desired behavior

That does seem to be a bug, as he included x264.exe in the applications folder.

what do you mean ?

Another is that .avi doesn't seem to be on the accepted files list. And it muxes my avi to mkv as soon as I select it! Is this the desired behavior

yes, it's intended, BUT you can say NO to muxing (when hdc ask about)

if you click YES: you will be allowed to select more then 1 audio tracks, otherwise, if you select NO, you will be forced to select only the first audio track

Copy mode work if choose "no", buzz?

buzzqw

copy mode works only for avc codec, and not for avi input

Thanks, Buzz. I used Spyware Terminator to scan my pc, and he found the .dlls of HDC, the spyware "Backdoor.Hugipon.DGDG" in Applicattions\hooksurcode.dll.

that's a 5.1 AAC SBR encode
not all application are able to decode the full channels spectrum

if you want not SBR you should rise bitrate or quality of audio

BHH

I used Nero AAC 0.4 VBR. This is what you suggested??

buzzqw

0.4 should be enough to be not sbr

anyway, it's a matter of detection, if your player play it correctly i will not hassle too much

buzzqw, the Archos 605 (and the 5) can benefit from a much better setting. This is the maximum setting (not the most sane) playable on the 605 and the 5.

--keyint 250 --bframes 8 --mixed-refs --trellis 2 --ref 10 --deblock 0,0 --subme 9 --direct auto --me umh --no-ssim --merange 32 --weightb --b-adapt 2 --b-pyramid --partitions all --aq-strength 1.0 --psy-rd 1.0:0.4

I personally use this setting for my 5.

--keyint 250 --bframes 4 --mixed-refs --trellis 2 --ref 6 --deblock 0,0 --subme 9 --direct auto --me umh --no-ssim --merange 32 --weightb --b-adapt 2 --b-pyramid --qcomp 0.8 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --aq-strength 1.0 --psy-rd 1.0:0.4

Mate more trouble.

Did some videos last night came out perfect with telecine from 29 to 23 fps. This morning did some more. Must have ticked something I was not supposed to.
Cant figure it out but all videos encoded this morning came out with lenthy video. Eg: video/audio length before encode 2.23/2.23. After encode 2.59/2.23 length. So audio seems fine while video was extended??
thanks

Queue doesn't work when there are multiple encode each with different settings in the "free avs string" or change in avisynth filters.

queue works, BUT if you use the same input file, HDC will create the same script, overwriting the previus generated.
you should use different input name

Buzz, it would be interesting that the bar profiles were also chosen as the decoder of the video, let people create their own profiles, if so desired.

I think is good advance/ideia. Buzz, how i edit + one line in "free avs string"?

buzzqw
25th June 2009, 12:17
you can join multiple string using dot "."

unfilter().undot().blur()

EDIT: use the live update ;)

I finally found out why HDC was putting a green frame at the beginning of every video. The culprit was MT avisynth. If you don't use MT, there will not be a green frame added to the beginning of the video.

BTW, the "use multithreaded avisynth" box doesn't work. It will always use MT if you have MT.dll in system32.

buzzqw

i never got this green frame, and i use mt always

maybe related to other filters you use ? or decoder ?

I striped avisynth lines and filters one by one, then tried it on virtual dub, I removed almost all of the filters and imports. Then I got frustrated, took out MT avisynth mode, then green frame is gone.

I'm using eac3to, on ffdshow build 3013 (or something like that)

so.. edit your hdconverttox.ini and set "Force AviSynth MT=0"

Question: How do you load a queue.bat for me to start later?

Also the temp folder is not cleared after a job!
