update beta build: explicited in deinterlace list the fieldop 1 or 2 (or 0)
Hoo! I'll have to check out this beta build. I was just about to ask where I would specify field order, as I forgot how I did it in AutoMKV before it existed as a preference (probably an AVISynth line added).
Bonus Question: Is there a reason we have to use AVISynth version 2.58? I'd heard multithreading was much better in the 2.6 builds.

I use SEt's 2.6MT build without problems
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=148782
All HDC's filters seems to work OK with it. On my i7 though I get full power across all cores when transcoding MPEG2 with SetMTMode(2,0), however when doing HD content I have to lower this to SetMTMode (2,2) otherwise 32bit Avisynth runs out of memory and the process crashes. I'm no expert on this, but that's what works for me. Jeremy Duncan's 2.5.8 MT build also worked OK but I found SEt's a tad quicker for some reason beyond my comprehension

hi
sorry i am just beginner...
manual is dated and not detailed about it...
would need please some kind of help to choose right deinterlacer and filters settings by encoding standard movie dvd > mkv (x264)..
1-FILTERS
>BASIC FILTERS
which to choose for optimal quality
NONE
RemoveGrain(mode=2)
FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5)
FFT3DFilter(sigma=3)
or any other?
>QMFfilters-which to choose?
none
QMLF_3_motions_Fast_Degrain.avs
or other?
>MXDegrain
which to choose ?
none
mvdegrain3 or other
>x264 tunning
film? or other
>use color matrix or not?
2.de-interlace
which to choose for optimal quality..
NONE
automatic
telecine(what is it?)
one of my dvd says by test interlaced pattern that dvd is progressive so which to choose also?
also why x264 is using high profile 3.1 instead of 4.1,by choosing slower option?
how to change it?
thanks guys...

@Deejay.2001
Each source material is different so it's impossible to generalise. Best way is to cut a section (abt 30 secs, close up face/fast action scene) of the movie (try mpeg2cut.exe) and test test test. If this is yr first go and the movie is good original quality then don't try too much to improve it bcos yu won't. Use x264 in MKV, 'Film' option and maybe light denoise, everything else off or none. Color Matrix can be useful for transcoding MPEG2 so maybe give that a try, 1 pass quality CRF 20, Slow if yu have time but Medium is usually fine. If interlace test reports movie as progressive then yu don't need to deinterlace so select NONE in interlace box....and go for it. Should be indistinguishable from original.
Descriptions of the filters are in Program files\HDC\filters\readme\ . They are Avisynth filter plugins written by various, and very talented :), enthusiasts. Incorrect use of them can make a complete mess of your encode and they will nearly all slow the process down a lot.

When can we expect an new full package of HDC with all corresponding tools at latest build?
(I don't want to update the tools one by one myself because I don't want to break my working one and also I have no Idea which versions of the different tools are supported) Please also include x264-64bit and Avisynth MT
thanks in advance...

Hi,
i have a 16GB m2ts source file encoded with VC-1. When i convert this file with HDC to a MP4 with x264 and CRF 20 and medium profile, the encoded files grows up to 25GB. OK, that could be normal, but when i mux it with mp4box to a MP4 file, mp4box end up with an I/O Error. My HDD is ok.
Is the 25GB file corrupt because of encoding with x264?
While encodinh i noticed thas the cmd shows suddenly a bitrate of 132579 ! I Ithis that's why the file grows up. But how can i prevent this ? Or is it an bug?
Other VC-1 Source files has been encoded without this problem.
Ciao

tried the new package analyze is much faster, great :-)
but after audio processing avs2yuv.exe crashes  on my win7 64bit System when using x264-64bit.
Maybe it has to do with using x264-64bit, so I'll try it with the 32bit one when I'm at home again.

After starting the new version (3913) of HDC and loading my 'Custom Settings', it does not adapt the 'Speed / Quality' according to my customized 'HDConvertToX_profile.txt' but keeps the default profile. Only after I select again the 'x264 in m2ts' in the GUI, the actual 'HDConvertToX_profile.txt' is activated (but then other parameters like the 'Final MB size' is reset to 700....)
This problem is new in 3913.

few points from beginner:
1.new build still gives nod32 alert about trojan
2.after coding finishes, program still says starting encoding in that info bar. can we have some pop up or change info in that info bar so we know it has finished properly whole job.
3.in automkv i could see how much time encoding took in log(time was nicely shown).
dont see it in this program somehow-is it somewhere shown?
4.which profile gives me better quality x264-extreme quality which uses high profile 4.1 or x264-slow which uses lower 3.1 profile?
(x264-slower and very slow takes 14-24hours to encode dvd on my 2.4 ghz dual core so that is not an option for me)

Okay, I just completed my first job with this new version and I have a problem.
Everything seemed to run fine but the final file is twice as long as it should be. The audio is fine, file size is fine, but it's like all the frames got doubled so the video plays in what appears to be slow motion.
Also, I chose the Network Media Tank compatibility option so that I would be able to use DXVA acceleration, but Media Player Classic is not using that mode when it plays the file back. I checked with a known DXVA-compatible file and it's working fine there.

I set the program to convert to x264 in MP4, Nero AAC, with a file size of 175MB. The program decides to ignore this and it ends up being somewhere around 360MB. Also, the MP4 that results from it is aut of sync by about 100ms. The input files are .m2v and .ac3 (due to me getting annoyed with AutoMKV not working properly) and I'm on Windows 7, but I've follew the guide and installed all the extras needed for it to work properly.
P.S. For some reason x264.exe is crashing during the analysis, telling me the video is only 11 minutes long, then it's 22 minutes long. This may actually be part of the problem.

try playing your file with VLC
It's not a slowdown. The file is playing at normal speed, it's just twice as long as it's supposed to be. It's a 24 minute episode and the encoding is 48 minutes long. The audio plays normally and ends halfway through the playback.
I'll try it with VLC tonight when I get home. I tried in ZoomPlayer and MediaPlayer Classic earlier.

No, I haven't specified any name, so that the program autoselects the name. In queue there is the same name. Every job use it's own folder inside my defined folder (so it's c:\folder\job1, c:\folder\job2).
The problem is that the final file is not inside c:\folder\jobX, but inside c:\folder, so that all final files are overwritten.

I wouldn't waste time with Placebo - I read an IRC once between the x264 coders that suggested that only daft people would use it - I got the impression they put it in as a bit of a joke/waste of time, which is what the word Placebo means

not sure what's going on, but every time I try to convert 5.1 audio (from dvd vobs) to nero aac and keeping the 5.1.. it always comes out sounding "hollow".
never had this problem with automkv.. it ripped it as ac3 instead of wav. Just wondering if that's what is causing my problem? (2 channel usually sounds ok, rarely has the hollow issue)
Other than that.. love the program!

Where's the make report at? I'm in the job0 folder but there are several log files in there and none are clearly marked as make report.

@ALL
use the live update
>fixed mispelling label of codec settings when loading custom configuration
>fixed Deinteralce test on dvd source
>fixed nmt check. Now HDC will force a specific number of bframes and ref frames.

Still got "file not fully supported" error when opening some files in MKV Container. HDC teels me only encoding of one audio stream is possible, already tried to remux in MKV before opening in HDC without success - MediaInfo says x264/VC1 - AC3/DTS so nothing special, you solved this issue for most files in an earlier fix, but seems some still left, what information about the files do you need for solving this issue?

I just tried the new package, and on a Windows 7 x64 machine, avs2yuv will always crash.
I already told this buzzqw, suggested to use different x264-64bit version, haven't tried already -> tried to use 32bit to verify its a problem with the 64bit x264 but in 32bit mode after the first-pass the cmd-window hangs and the second pass won't start.
Will try the new Update when at home again, maybe it fixes the issue...

I wouldn't waste time with Placebo - I read an IRC once between the x264 coders that suggested that only daft people would use it - I got the impression they put it in as a bit of a joke/waste of time, which is what the word Placebo means
I've tried jobs in the past with both Placebo and the level right below it and I've noticed the HUGE difference in rendering time. I mostly wanted to test my new system compared to back then. ;)
>fixed Deinteralce test on dvd source
That still isn't working for me. DGIndex runs its course but then whatever's supposed to happen next crashes and I get "the Easy converting HD Movie to SAP and NMT has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
>fixed nmt check. Now HDC will force a specific number of bframes and ref frames.
It's also worth noting that some of the X264 tuning modes add extra B-frames (like the animation one I was using).

1) don't use automatic deinterlace. I will remove it in next update.
2) audio is vbr. this will cause HDC to don't know the exact audio size. this will lead to incorrect size.
use cbr factor for precise file size

@buzzqw
Now it loads the custom settings correctly according the the codec selection. However it loads only the first 12 profiles. I have defined 18 profiles for x264. I have to select the codec again to activate all 18 profiles.
(well, I could delete some of the profiles because I don't really need that many, but I report it because it might be a bug nevertheless).
