Exactly. Sorry, I was probably unclear.
The source is anamorphic with black borders. I select Anamorphic Shape. Then I run Analyze file, which will provide some cropping values like (2,76,-2,-76), which influences the --sar in combination with the resizing. All correct so far.
Now I decide to select "No Resize & Crop". The crop values are now greyed-out, but the --sar is not updated to reflect the actual new situation, but sticks to the former --sar as if the picture would still be cropped and resized.
Perhaps the easiest solution is to force the crop values to (0,0,0,0) when "No Resize & Crop" is ticked instead of just greying them out, or simply reset the --sar to the --sar of the original picture (64:45 etc.) when "No Resize & Crop" gets enabled.

Just thought I would pop in and let you know, buzzqw, that I have successfully converted my first Blu-ray using HDC, and everything works 100%! Subs, chapters, audio, the works! Excellent work!

Edit: Also, I have started to work on a guide for encoding Blu-rays with HDC. I'll post a link to it when I have it finished. Oh, and do you have a higher resolution version of the HDC logo by chance?

Okay I must admit to be confused. I have read the new manual and whilst I like the idea of being able to save configuration now all hidden options aren't working and aren't selectable?

I use these hidden options they didn't load and there doesn't appear to be an option to select.(My apologies if your still working in this and I am jumping the gun).

dvdinfo isn't a hidden option :) just a temporary files from dvd analysis

buzzqw. I downloaded the package yesterday after u suggested it in Automkv thread and have some problems which may have been covered

I tried loading a vcd mpeg 1 file which was remuxed through tmpg 2.5 and it does not detect the audio in it. Yes its a old video I am working with

I tried a 2.20GB Xvid since I wanted to convert it to a 1.46GB Mkv keeping the quality. When I loaded it,
Hdconvert first converts through some kinda audio conversion dont know why? This becomes a pain if you need to go through and add more conversions in the queue since you have to sit there intil it finishes. Wondering if this process can be done later? I am new to x264 than a lot of people. This video with ac3 6channel sound can be converted to Nero AAC but to preserve some quality/size what is the bitrate which would be just right for the audio?
After the audio converted and I clicked on analyse file I got this in errorlogfile.txt

mpeg1 files aren't directly supported. Sorry you must check "Force DirectShowSource" on top panel

even avi isn't directly supported. So, when HDC ask about remux.. say NO

for nero.. keep a vbr preset of 0.4 (channel= Original)

BUT if dss isn't unable to detect framerate ... try Force FFmpegSource

HDC is better suited for m2ts/ts/mkv/evo conversion .. not avi :o

TEsted with 2800, I tested two short SD DVD samples (IFO) and they worked very well, AR is correct now, I see you added it to the mux cmd line. I came across these issues, they seem minor, but I wanted to let you know:

- When the encode is complete, the status bar still says "Starting Encoding!!"

- With No Resize and Crop checked, after DVD the analyze, the values for Manually Set Width and Heigth are 720x400 while the Resolution field shows 720x480. If I click the No Resize on and then off, the Manually Set Width and Heigth are then 720x480. This does not seem to affect the encode, but I thought I would point it out.

- I have found a way around the FFDshow-analyze issue using FFDshow autoload profiles. I set up a profile just for HDC for MPEG2 decoding (libmpeg2) and the autoload uses the *AND* conditon on app name (HDConvertToX.EXE) and decoder match (libmpeg2).

Great improvements over the last couple of days with DVD, much appreciated. I've been using AutoMKV for awhile now, I believe this latest build of HDC will force me to make the switch. Thanks.

about ar: remember that hdc insert aspect ratio in mkv mux only when

otherwise hdc will not flag your mkv

Hi,

I am playing with Save setting and INI file and I have two problems:
1. Basic filter (in my case RemoveGrain) is not saved correctly. It is set in INI file by line Basic Filters>RemoveGrain(mode=2), but it is not really preset, i.e. it is always set to NONE

2. When I set Allow CRF + 1 pass encoding=1 manually in INI file, it works fine, but when I make some other changes and save INI file from HDC GUI, it will change it back to 0 and then INI file contains incorrect combination Encoding Mode=2 pass (CRF+1pass)
Allow CRF + 1 pass encoding=0 where encoding mode is set to mode, wich is not allowed. I mean that HDC GUI should not touch such options like "Allow CRF + 1 pass encoding", or if it touches, it should check for the correct value

Third problem is not related to the new INI functionality:

1) I have 2805 now and it still doesn't work for me. Do I correctly expect, that when INI contains line "Basic Filters>RemoveGrain(mode=2)", I should see it also on GUI on startup? I see there always NONE.

3) With current build (2805) slider does not change CRF for neither 1 pass CRF nor 2 pass CRF. In some older builds (e.g. I have 2586) slider is changing CRF for 1 pass CRF, but not for 2 pass CRF. I do not understand encoding methods and therefore I do not know, what is the correct behavior. I have only noticed the difference ;)

first of all i would like to thank u buzzqw for the work your putting into this.
ive been lurking around this thread and testing as the program has evolved.. it would appear to be becoming the answer to my problem of bluray/dvd to mkv for backups/storage/serving.

2 things i am wondering about (and please forgive the nubie questions if they have already been covered, i may have missed it)

first, chapters in the created mkv... (not the 1 every 5 min kind) taken from the original source if possible (not sure of the mechanics of doing this).. is this likely/posible to be implimeted?

second, any chance that there could be a "size" column in the subtitle tracks list? i can then easily spot the "forced" english subtitle track (its considerably smaller)

As I understand zygo's question about "size", he did not mean size of the column, but the new column in the table with different subtitles, that would contain size of the particular subtitles track, so that user can distinguish between "bigger", usually full subtitles, and "smaller", usually forced subtitles.

the speed/quality slider "simply" change encoding provile. it will move thru the hdconverttox_profile.txt
and every "tick" in slider is a different encoding settings, from fast to slow (simply read the profile.txt for checking it)

about subs: sorry, i don't know subtitle size/weight (mb), eac3to don't report from m2ts the language, while from mkv i got all info

from dvd info i don't know other information then kind of audio...

Another small bug (seems to be on GUI only and does not influence resulting command line parameters):
When you move with slider on 1 pass CRF mode, in editbox below slider you can read for example "X264 Insane Quality ; Quality= 16" according to settings. But when you move with slider in 2 pass CRF mode, then there is for example "X264 Insane Quality ; Bitrate= -189" or some other incorrect number. But as I said, command line in queue seems to be correct.

yep, extreme quality is tuned for low size and good quality (and works well at high bitrate too), higher profiles are just tuned for slowness..., quality gain is ridiculous while encoding speed is cumbersome

Notice the PID of the EAC3to and the MUX line are different.

Also, another more insidious problem. If you start an encode, the "Generate Encode" button is still enabled. If you press it while an existing encode is running, it screws up the .BAT file and ruins the running encode.

mkvmerge took subtitle language from the subXXX.idx
you can open the .idx and search for language

but i think that problem is on vsrip subs extraction

try manually loading the ifo to vsrip, what is showing ?

The run just finished with only the first 6 subtitle tracks 2 Danish, 2 English and 2 Dutch of the 12 tracks I chose.

I did a manual extract and it looks nothing like the idx from the working folder.
The timestamps of the one in the working folder comes right after the first Danish subtitle and it's a weird mix of subtitles and timestamps.

I have attached the 2 idx files, so you can see the difference :)

Another subtitle issue though. When I check of the subtitles I want to keep on the list, it disregards my choice and keeps the number of subtitles I have chosen but counting down from the top of the list.
Same problem here.
In the Report (post_this_file.txt) however the correct subs are ***marked.

Ok will try when I get get home but for AVI should I go back to Automkv? Does Hdconvert not do the best job for conversion from says a HDxvid to HDx264-MKV(basically keep as much quality as possible and gain space is the motto...)
I had a problem with the video with Automkv. This video was lets say a certain resolution 720x302 dont remember exactly when conversion was done with automkv it produced a video with same frame size but when played it was vertically streched, which was weird. I did not find any instructions on resetting Automkv to original settings since I thought I had picked a wrong option by mistake somewhere and hit save. My head hurts now... I know I might be posting in the wrong topic but I do wanna resolve this for 1 particular video. Dont mean to be a pain.

HDC CAN convert from avi/mpeg1/flv... just select as decoder "Use DirectShowSource"

and ... for automkv problem... post on automkv thread... (anyway on avi/mkv source you MUST specify the muxing AR in advanced settings)

just want to report that i returned home tonight to find 1 bright shiny new .mkv in my workin folder, complete with ac3, chapters & forced subs only.. all straight from a mounted bd iso.... cheers buzz, and all contributers :)

now if i can just work out how to get the size of the different sub streams (to pick the small forced ones) without having to extract them all from the m2ts first....... any ideas?

If I want all PGCs from one ifo file I have to analyze (and add to queue) them one by one.

Is there a way to make HDC to encode ALL PGCs at once (with same encoding options)? Maybe I can modify queue.bat or something?
If dvd has 100+ PGCs it would save me a lot of time! ;)

just use as input the first vob of vts, HDC will process all vobs belonging to this vts

so if you have 9 vts, you will have to queue "only" 9 job (vts_01_1.vob, vts_02_1.vob ....)

HDC CAN convert from avi/mpeg1/flv... just select as decoder "Use DirectShowSource"

and ... for automkv problem... post on automkv thread... (anyway on avi/mkv source you MUST specify the muxing AR in advanced settings)

hi, one question not directly concerned the HDC development.
I'm trying to make a my own profil for xvid_encraw.
The question is, how can I impose Xvid_Encraw to not go over a determinate bitrate?
for example:
-bitrate 4500
impose the (i suppose) an average bitrate 4500 kbps
...But I would also require that it do not exceed a peak of 5000kbps
Is it possible? Has Xvid_encrav a switch to do this?

only the usual problem extracting the vobsub from the mkv...but this is an eac3to problem...i'll do it manually with mkvextract ;)
