please try update hdc (download the exe)

could you please post more info about the crash ?

like input source type ? (ifo/vob...)

BHH

IFO file input. I updated again now and downloaded the new exe from the first post to compare version numbers and make sure it actually updated from the auto-update. It matched. I just ran another interlace test now and it finished. :)

Results say it's declared progressive. I can frame advance on DVD and see two telecined frames out of every 5. Which deinterlace setting would I chose?

Seems there is a problem with save/load settings.

e.g.

i am starting with a fresh install without any *.ini
starting HDC and do my changes on the settings for my standard-projekts

Crop&resize-Tab:
"no resize &crop"
"anamorphic shape"

Video-Tab:
x264 in MKV
1 pass quality
CRF 22
choosing a profile (for the test "x264 Rip Standard..." , Profil #35)

Audio-Tab
"copy audio"

Audio&Subtitels-Tab
Embed Subtitels in Videostream

Saving the settings under "test", closing HDC and reopen.
Load my saved "test" and getting this result (erros in red):

Crop&resize-Tab:
"no resize &crop"
"anamorphic shape"

Video-Tab:
x264 in MKV
1 pass quality
Final MB size 700
Profile "x 264 HDC fast ; Bitrate= +infinity" (Profil #13)

Audio-Tab
"copy audio"

Audio&Subtitels-Tab
"Mux subtitels in ..."

after just hitting the "load custom settings"-button again the profile is now the right one, but all other erros stay the same.

hope you can sort this out :)

Greetings
OLP

P.S. This worked without problems with Version 2.2.492.3692

another question, maybe wrong place....

when using x264-32 bit the estimate % and time is shown while encoding.
with x264-64 bit both are not shown.

Is there any switch to get this 2 things shown up with 64.bit version?

Hi, just thought I'd give your new prog a go, Was wondering about the quality settings, at 1345Kbps X264 in MKV on the placebo setting I was getting 4FPS with a core i5 750 @stock but when I put it at very slow (one notch to the left) I got 25FPS which is more what I expected. Should there be any significant quality loss by going from placebo to very slow? Or is placebo just that? A setting to give the impression that the extremely long encode time has some benefit when infact it does nothing? Thanks alot. Liking your new program.

EDIT: Also placebo was using all 4 of my cores but very slow is only using 2 cores, how can I make sure that it uses 4 cores all the time?

buzzqw
27th January 2010, 13:11
placebo is named as is for a reason. it's a placebo.

use slower or the extreme quality. it's enough

also.. some options on x264 aren't very optimized for multicore, that's why some profiles works better on quadcore

On 7 Sep 09 this was posted:

"When I click the Analyze file button I get "please check media properties" message with a frame rate of 0.000 with ANY video file I open. The resolution and total frames are also 0. Run time is 0:0:1. The Video format, Container, and Display AR are filled in. The eac3to.exe program opens for a few seconds in a DOS window. Clicking the Preview button open the Classic Media Player with a file not found error. The media player can play the source file.

ffdshow, haali media splitter, AviSynth & XviD are installed.

What should I look for?"

I'm new to this program but ran across the same problem. The wierd thing is the first time I analyzed the m2ts file it did fine, but I didn't set the final mb size properly (still not sure on this one, I have a 31.3 GB file so should my final size be 31300 MB's). The finished result was unacceptable so I tried to do it again and ran across the same problem as above. No matter how many times I do it it does the same thing. I deleted everything and re-downloaded, ran it as an administrator, and ran the previous version but nothing worked to get it to analyze. I tried other m2ts files and they did fine (they are h264, this one is vc1). I'm streaming to a PS3 so I've got to get it converted over to x264, running Windows 7. If anyone could give some help on figuring out this problem that would be awesome.

buzzqw
27th January 2010, 20:51
first of all make sure you don't use a protected (by uac) path. install/unrar HDC in c:\HDC
then verify if analysis folder is created upon analysis of files and there are files inside this folder

Try using a multithreaded build of AVIsynth. I get all 8 threads going on my machine (Core i7) and I've used "Placebo", "Very Slow", and "Extreme Quality" so far.

Note to everyone: If you use ZoomPlayer (as I do) for a video player, this build of ffdshow tryout HDC uses is not compatible. You'll just get a memory access error if you try to play video files. You will need to go into ffdshow's settings and move "zplayer.exe" from the whitelist to the blacklist so it doesn't load. This will allow Zoom Player to work normally again. You will have to make changes to decoder settings from within Zoom Player's settings after that.

The latest update still does not show with the speed/quality slider all my x264 profiles immediately after loading the custom settings. It only activates all my 18 x264 profiles when I once again select the encoder.

Here the detailed sequence:
1. I load custom settings (*.ini)
2. All parameters load fine, except the speed/quality slider which shows only the first 12 of my total 18 x264 profiles
3. I have to select again the 'x264 in m2ts' encoder (which unfortunately resets the 'Final MB size' to 700)
4. But now the Speed/Quality slider lets me select all my 18 x264 profiles

About the "Unsupported File Error Popup" for some MKV Files, I think I found the problem:

Seems HDC behaves different when using dragnDrop for Fileinput or using the OpenFile Dialog.

The message comes only while using DragNDrop (my prefered way), but I can work with all these Files where I got this error when using the FileOpen Dialog.

Seems youre Using redundant coding instead of using the same routine for both ways, so maybe it happened you corrected one and missed the other?

Hey!

Thanx for a great program.

I have been using it for a short while and run across some issues. All of these are with the latest version.
All of these happen using a DVD source, either ripped as folders or mounted ISO-images. I convert to x264 in MKV, choosing two audio tracks and one video track.

Everything I test for interlacing ends up progressive. My test ISO is interlaced, and the version from around 20th of january reported this correctly. Now it doesn't work.
When running an interlace test the movie.d2v-files gets created in the analysis folder. An encode with the same file after an analysis fails because the d2v files are left in the analysis folder and not moved/recreated in the correct job folder.
Also only when encoding directly after an analysis: When selected multiple audio tracks, only the first one is muxed. Both are extracted though.

Two minor wishes too :)

How about adding a pause at the end of the queue when starting it. That way its easy to see the tasks and progress after leaving the computer encoding by itself.
I'd like to be able to reorder audio tracks and set the default track. I have to reconstruct the mkvmerge-command to accomplish that now.

Wish

I agree. I always add at the end of queue this two lines:
...
color 0a
pause

That way I can (after queue is finished) easily see if everything was successfully completed (or where was error).
Colorizing is just for me to quickly notice when all jobs are completed.

I've finally gotten the program to fully complete a conversion of a m2ts from a blueray. It would ONLY get past 30% or so when I put it on the fastest conversion speed. IT ALWAYS stalls on any other speed. However, there is a new problem (using latest version). I converted the single m2ts of 32GB ... to a 1.8 GB x264/mkv. The problem is, that the single file (full movie) is 2h 10min in length. THE FINAL converted video was the ENTIRE movie - but put into a running time of 1h 5minutes ....... the entire movie was there, including subtitles and audio, but the video, when watching it was moving slightly fast forward and the entire movie was showing in 1h 5 min .......... what's up with that ?

Hi wishyou and welcome to the Forum!

Everything I test for interlacing ends up progressive. My test ISO is interlaced, and the version from around 20th of january reported this correctly. Now it doesn't work.

the test deinterlace routines isn't changed. it was fixed because previous test deinterlace could bring wrong results. i can suggest to rise the % for source analyzed (like 10%)

anyway i have put some sanity checks around deinterlace routines. please use the live update :)

When running an interlace test the movie.d2v-files gets created in the analysis folder. An encode with the same file after an analysis fails because the d2v files are left in the analysis folder and not moved/recreated in the correct job folder.
should be fixed (at least for mpeg source)

-seekToIFrames -376128 also causes that "376128" is not a proper command

If I just do -seekToIFrames 376128 there is not a command error problem, but there says: Track 3 is used for destination file "376128".This audio conversion is not supported.

What if I just use a deinterlace filter to force half frames or force 23.976 fps ?

And all the commands are clearly different using mkv or avi and codec, right?

So, I can't seem to find a good way to ensure proper output regardless of the codec and package chosen for the video !!

I'm going to try the following. This sucks because it takes HOURS AND HOURS even at the fastest selection. If I had a small sample of the video with the SAME properties, framerate, etc. I could try it, but don't know the best way to do that with such a large m2ts.

Here is my next attempt plan:
