I cannot get HDC autoupdate.
I downloaded http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX.exe manually.
I ran downloaded HDC. It reported version 2.0.425.3359.
Did you upload old version by mistake?

bhh:
Just a quick fyi, I just upgraded to the latest full pkg. The drag-n-drop bug with the IFO is still there.
If you DnD the IFO to the filename field and hit analyze, the crop does not calculate values (0,0,0,0). If you use the Open File button to load the IFO, the crop computes the correct values.
I'm just using a standard DVD ripped.

@alter
you should have 2.0.440.3383 version as latest one
@noee
please post the analyze.avs (in analyze folder)

Could someone please explain exactly what "NMT Compatibility" (under Video -> "Hardware Compatibility") actually does? I have searched both this thread and the helpfile but can't find any info.
I have already used HDConvertToX to create about half a dozen x264-encoded files with this option UNchecked and they playback just fine on my Popcorn Hour ("NMT").
Thanks,
Fork.

Buzzqw, something has been bothering me a little bit.
The manner in which you use eac3to for audio encoding is a good one, yet inefficient in terms of disk I/O.
Take a DVD source for example.
What you are currently doing is forcing eac3to to scan the entire DVD (4 GB or more), in order to normalize and encode it. This is one way to do it, however, in so doing, you are reading 4GB or more.
One solution that would (I think) speed up the process would be to use DGIndex to demux an audio stream during the indexing process, and then feed THAT file (significantly smaller, usually around 350MB) to eac3to for processing. If my theory is correct, this should significantly speed up the processing time, as you are dealing with files that are greatly reduced in size.
Just an idea. I would present some numbers, but I don't have a dvd source to test on at work.
buzzqw
13th July 2009, 19:15
that's approach is good, and used in automkv...but will required a total rewrite of audio detection
more over eac3to is a lot more easy when dealing with NO VOB sorce (like ts), no pid to hassle...
i can just optimize some extraction ... but the workflow will not change

i can just optimize some extraction ... but the workflow will not change
What do you mean by this? Just use the dgindex demuxed ac3 on dvd sources, but leave the rest?
If so, then that's just fine. If not, then can you elaborate a little?
buzzqw
13th July 2009, 20:16
when you copy 2 or more audio tracks, hdc will run two times eac3to... not only one time with 2 audio extraction simultaneously
about dgindex/eac3to: audio mapping are different, so i must show on hdc the audio list as dg or eac3to handle

That's weird, i just updated to .3397 and i tried to encode a DVD.
I select the ifo file, i set the target name, and i click on the analyse button, ok all working fine.
Then i click the add to queue button and the start queue and nothing happens. I tried several times, and nothing...
i tried to save the batch file and launch it and the process starts, but it fails quickly, here is the log :

But suddenly my ADSL connection died, to my surprise HDC report me all is ok, bla-bla download completed, Please wait 5 second...
I went to HDC folder and saw HDC HDConvertToX_new.exe was only 300k size. Next I pressed ok, and got non-working HDC exe file 300k size autorenamed to HDConvertToX.exe

Just to add on the disk I/O inefficiency.
eac3to extracts the .264 file for every encode. What bothers me is HDC won't take a .264 file! It has to mux it to a MKV, then it extract it again! A huge waste of time and disk movement.
buzzqw
14th July 2009, 14:27
it extract if IF you encode the video
or it extract it if you caopy the video
where is the waste ?

@buzzqw:
Thank you, this is a fantastic program which is really helping me to convert my DVD collection to X264 so I can watch them using my Popcorn Hour (NMT).
Would it be possible to add the current setting for "X264 Tuning" (None, Film, Animation, Grain, psnr, ssim, Touhou) to the INI-file so it can be saved & loaded accordingly?
Thanks,
Fork.

it extract if IF you encode the video
or it extract it if you caopy the video
where is the waste ?
BHH
P.S. remember.. you can always force to use DirectShowSource
I worded it badly.
I meant, I have an extracted .264 file. When I use that as input, HDC muxes it to MKV, then uses eac3to to extract it out again! Doesn't make sense for me.
BTW, where is the option to disable crop detection? I'll kill myself if I have to wait for almost a minute for every video to analyze when I build a queue.
Also, a little bug.
If I press no resize & crop and change the resolution, the second (vertical) resolution's number does not affect the aspect ratio calculator.
Is it possible to set a default destination folder and name it the same as the source like in AutoMKV?
Also, can you add a feature to automatically delete the temp folder? The new version, with the multiple temp folders, will eat up disk space VERY quickly for people that encode a lot.

I also tried saving the queue.bat and running it. The audio began encoding but the video did not encode.

De-selecting "Use Multithread AviSynth" changes the .ini correctly to "Use Multithread AviSynth=0", however the .avs script still includes
#Enabling MT
SetMemoryMax(512)
SetMTMode(2,0)
and avisynth runs multi-threaded.
i'll check monday, thanks
The script opens in Virtualdub okay.
With shorter path i am not getting an encode to start.
i have a doubt.. how have you upgrade to latest hdc ?
trash the old folder and unrar the new hdc. don't mess the new folder in older one's
you can also try lauching x264 command line, you should got an error

ok, that's mean something :)

afaik in hdconvertx.ini there is an option

you are right, but is only a cosmetical error

The AVI Import Filter error usually occurs when VirtualDub is trying to access a codec's .ax file that hasn't been registered. What codecs do you have installed Mrsash? Uninstall any codec packs and re/install ffdshow-tryouts.
I did have codec pack installed and working fine, but for this experiment I uninstalled it and setup everything right and still no joy. I was working withe the codec pack fine, so why suddenly it would be a problem is beyond me??

How do I set the no crop analysis and delete temp file options in hdc.ini?
Never mind, I found out.
Another problem, I changed no auto crop to 1, Clean Temporary files to 1, and AutoAnalysis of input files to 1. Now the add to queue, start queue, and start encoding buttons are grayed out!
Second edit, the problem is autoanalysis. If that is turned on, you can't encode.
Also, HDC can't encode from an AAC source. It says WAV can't be parsed.

Last update in hdconverttox.exe it corrected this error, the least for me.

I never obtained to convert aac with eac3to. you are using this option?
