Well I did some more testing, AutoMKV failed to convert one of the DVDs it read well. As for the latest dvd I mentioned earlier, it read and encoded it without a problem, while HDC gives me the same 'one 37 minutes pgc' result.

It is not an HDC bug, but perhaps something with my system:
HDC cannot start AVIMux_GUI (for muxing a XviD encode). I am on Vista, and the author of AVIMux_GUI is well aware of the incompatibility since long (home page) and recommends to run AVIMux_GUI in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. I tried this, but without any success. Do I miss something?

I am missing an useful option in HDConvertToX....
Is it possible to add external subtitle in HDC?
If not then why not.... It was possible in AutoMKV, AutoX264, etc.

All is well so far. I second the idea of being able to load external subtitles.

Speaking of subtitles - I did a conversion to mkv. When doing the setup it listed my subtitles available but in the final product in the mkv it listed my Korean subtitles as being German - the subtitles shown in the video were Korean, but they were called German.

I also noticed it for the subtitles : BDSup2Sub create idx/sub as german by default.
But the muxing line overrided it and put the good names in my testing. (english and french subs).

I'd like to alter the "Slug" or "Infinate Time" x264 profile to a "QuickTime" profile - I know, I know, but it has to be done (for my work) :scared:

It's a big ask, but are you able to advise me on suitable "Encoder Settings" please?

I guess it would make life easier if I knew what AVC elements QT7 player does not support....

buzz, just ran rock n rolla m2ts ripped from disc through hdc....everything was ok, but this time, it did not mux the true hd track with the video when it finished encoding, i manually did it using tsmuxer...just thought you could check it out...regards :d

P.S, when using copy audio function, did you specify a bitrate to use like you did with dtshd-ma, as true-hd is also variable. I think the problem lies in teh meta file, no audio is stated to be used in there, only the video. extention is thd+ac3.

I just started testing this over AutoMKV and so far it doesn't work at all. I'm not getting past the very first step in an encode. DGIndex comes up but doesn't do anything. My queue is just sitting there.

In need of a little help if possible. First of all, thanks Buzz for your excellent work on your software, it's the perfect solution for our needs. My needs are simple, and this is shaping up to be exactly what I'm looking for. Hopefully I can help out by submitting a few bugs and get some help with some other objectives. One minor problem that affects both HDC and AutoMKV is the interface. This is what I see when I open HDC: (see attached image)

Any clue as to what is happening with that? I have to use the arrows to navigate the tabs and see words cut in half on all screens. Just a minor annoyance.

Since the last full package release, I am able to successfully create a video file, but have a problem with a certain type of audio track. My goal is to rip all my DVD's to MKV files for use with my WDC Media box. Some of the DVD's I try to convert have the audio track identified as MPEG1. Neither HDC nor AutoMKV will work with it. Is there any way to get it to simply copy the track? Basically I only copy the audio tracks when creating the MKV. So far nothing I have tried works.

Also I'm getting mixed results using HDC and several of the files I have created end up with audio way out of sync with the video. (like 30 seconds off) Using AutoMKV it works fine using that same rip. Thanks again for all your hard work and any help you can offer.

I was going to use megui profiles, for my n82, i think 3.1 pda is correct, but, i will have to test. I have started working night shifts, so need movies to keep me occupied :D

Would it be possible to use me-gui pofiles? I guess you would have to ask.

I am beginning to test HDC on my HD DVD's, but unfortunately the files are not being analyzed correctly.
Here is what I get after analyzing the file.

Eac3to when run from the commandline can read the aspect ratio just fine...
VC-1, 1080p24 /1.001 (16:9) with pulldown flags

Is it due to the fact that I don't have a native evo splitter installed on my computer? I didn't think it would matter, as eac3to should be handling it. Or is the x264 process the one that is causing all the trouble, and confusing HDC?

I had the same problem with a blue-ray, only it was an m2ts instead of evo. I used TSMuxer to split the audio and video (which produced a file of extension .ac3 and .vc1), and then used HDC to convert the .vc1 track to the h264 track I wanted. Then used TSMuxer again to mux the original .ac3 with the .h264.

For some odd reason, HDC doesn't like (or for me didn't like) VC-1 video in m2ts, but it would read VC-1 streams directly if that was the only stream (it converted it to "fullmovie.mkv").

Not an ideal solution, but a workaround that worked for me. Don't know if TSMuxer supports .evo though.

Thanks Buzz, I have uploaded the capture and now it should show properly. After updating to the latest executable, here is the new image:

After comparing it to the image from another post, it appears that the font being used is larger, or more bold than normal. I have no idea what's causing this, My windows settings use a normal font, not bold. Of course I am using Vista..... Seems like there must be a way to make the font normal, but I have not been able to discover it.. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since the GUI is not a normal window, there is no way to increase it's size, and nothing can be edited. Seems that increasing the dimensions of the GUI is the only way to get everything to "fit".. any ideas?

On AutoMKV thread I saw that HDC is the newest thing you are working on and you are suggesting using it.

Here I am now, switching to HDC. :D This program looks very nice and simple to use. I'm eager to see the results... :)

1. In AutoMKV is link that opens AutoMKV thread on doom9 forum. Is something like that in HDC also? If not, I think it would be very handy. ;)

For my purpose, 720p/h264/mkv to 720p/xvid/mkv Xbox-compatible, it's already virtually perfect.
Making small changes in the file queue.bat, i can go over the few limitations, such as the different enconding of the audio tracks, or the adding external subtitles...che figata (cool)

So, I'm trying to convert some DVDs to h264 in mkv and everything is working except the very last part. The program doesn't mux the *.h264, *.mp4, chapter list and subs in a mkv container. All files are just in the temp folder and I have to do it manually. Is that normal?

your report is missing the vsrip line, the extraction of subtitles :confused:

and so the muxing bombs because it not found the sub

is hdc_subs.list created in \temp folder ?

have you reathored the dvd ? (like from dvd9 to dvd5)

could you email me the VTS_01_0.ifo file ?
