Hi Buzz,

Thanks for the comments. I will note and apply that.

I have an trouble with the conversion. I convert the video and audio make so fast step (movie stop to move and continue in every second).

Could you tell me what i've made wrong?

Here avs file info:

What the make report filename.extension?

It shouldn't matter once you create report you could save it as .txt . You will find it in the advanced options tab and then utilities.

"could" be a problem of audio.. look here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=990423#post990423

this settings " -a_setting 440_48_6_16" seems to not fit..

you could try change to "-a_setting 440_48_6_24" or different values

@Crono141

the ripbot log don't report anything strange, the audio lag seems introduced by eac3to process
... you could try forcing audio to use dss

Did another encoding test with the same movie, preset Faster:

HdConvertoX with CRF 19, Preset Extreme Quality: Bitrate 1900
HdConvertoX with CRF 19, Preset Fast: Bitrate 2300
HdConvertoX with CRF 19, Preset Faster: Bitrate 3700
HdConvertoX with CRF 19, Preset Very Fast: Bitrate 6400
AutoMKV with CRF 20: Bitrate 3900

Preset Faster onwards have mb-tree disabled, which makes the bitrate and therefore filesize go much higher. I compared a few scenes and could not really see a difference between the different encodes. mb-tree really seems to be a massive step forward in video compression, couldn't believe that you get the same results with so much less bitrate...

ok, seems it is related to that.

I've tried several 6 channel variations, none of which seem to be working. 2 channel variations seem ok.

i'm going to go through the list of settings and see what I can find.

I have an issue with aspect ratio, encoding the movie Iron Man.
It has a format of 1920*800, so I checked anamorphic and the size to 1280*528 which is the same format. Preview within HDC also looks fine.
The result has 1280*528 but MediaInfo shows an aspect ratio of 16/9 and the format is indeed wrong, black bars at top and bottom are way less, looks wrong. So what went wrong, someone have an idea?

But in VLC, while the source looks fine, this encode is wrong, and also MediaInfo displays a format of 16/9...

@buzz

I'm able to encode the video portion to WMV without any more issues. Quality is good. However, I have not been able to find a 6channel wma combination that works. No issues with 2 channel, though.

I'm currently experimenting with just encoding the video, mux out the audio separately (to wav files, to 5.1 wma), then remuxing the video and audio together. I'll update once the first test is completed.

buzzqw, for the multithread avisynth, can you make an option to choose the number of threads we want? I find that setmtmode(2,0) causes slowdowns, probably because of some sort of latency. I find setmtmode(2,3) 30% faster (I have a quad core) than (2,0).

VC1 is very "difficult" to decode. i can only suggest to update your windows media player and ffdshow,
best solution will be using NVTools by Neuron2

is E:\temp\job1\hdc_subs.idx existing ?

i will try to replicate (i must admit that mp4 isn't my preferred container)

BHH

Yes of of course! E:\temp\job1\hdc_subs.idx exists! I will post report when I will be at home, now I am in trip.

FYI. I did not recode the movie again, I just changed the container type to mkv, cleared query, added to query, copied last string (where was mkv muxing command) and ran this command in HDC temp dir and got well muxed mkv with subtitles.

I do have Haali Media Splitter, but VirtualDub gives this error:

---------------------------
VirtualDub Error

Avisynth open failure:
LoadPlugin: unable to load "C:\Users\Rick\Downloads\PortableApps\HDConvertToX_2.1.458.3528\filters\SoundOut.dll"

@buzz

I found a bug, I think.

When I am encoding to WMV, if select no audio (under audio, as well as check no sound under audio/subs tab) - the avs script still has the audio commands in it.

Let me know if you need a script or report.

@whipdancer

fixed, use live update

you must select No Audio as audio codec

@rickatnight11
copy libsnd dll from encoder folder to your system32 folder

btw this isn't the problem...

buzzqw

I don't have an encoder folder. Do you mean to copy the "libsndfile-1.dll" file from the "applications" folder to "system32"?

buzzqw

yes, \applications (sorry)

open the avs in notepad
delete the line of loadplugin(".....\soundout.dll")

and open the avs in virtualdub

Huh, looks like you may have been right about the resize:

---------------------------
VirtualDub Error
---------------------------
Avisynth open failure:
Resize: YV12 width must be even.
(C:\Users\Rick\Downloads\PortableApps\HDConvertToX_2.1.458.3528\job1\hdconverttox_wta.2004.kremlin.open.finals.dementieva.vs.myskina.avs, line 79)
---------------------------
OK

I thought it was, though. I got "green" in all of the crop fields.

rickatnight11
14th October 2009, 15:38
Ah, the issue wasn't with the cropping, but with the resize value. I had it set at a width of 555. I bumped it to 556, and it's working great. Thanks for all your help, buzz!
