Is there a quick way of converting multiple episodes of a TV show without having to analyse each episode?

I've tried using the check box for multi episode DVD but there's something wrong with the DVD and it's coming back as only having a 1 second long title.

If I select each individual IFO it will take me forever to copy the entire series. Is there any way select multiple IFO files and output them to separate files with common filesize and codec settings etc?

The source, a HD-PVR file, plays flawlessly, but when I run it though this is the notation I get as it converts it.

The video is fine, but the audio is slightly out of sync when the avi is played back.

Any ideas?

The report is attached.

**** update *******

Ran the Mpeg2/TS file through mpeg2repair which, when the conversion is run, the are now no errors, YET still an audio lag.

I have another problem. I'm trying to convert a DVD to MP4, x264, Nero AAC, and english subtitles. However, when the process is finished, all the subtitles from the DVD are included (there's about 13 tracks).

The only workaround I've found is to rip the DVD again but only extract the english subtitle stream.

Hi all!

1. I'm having a strange problem encoding my VMWare video captures. When I analyze the file, HDC sets ForceDirectShowSource. The problem is that the resulting MKV file runs too quickly, as if I sped it up, although it reports the proper framerate and duration. If I set Force FFmpegSource before encoding, it runs with the correct speed (FPS and duration are same as with ForceDirectShowSource), but the mouse cursor that was captured in the original video is no longer visible.

Here are the sample file, reports and resulting encodes:
http://www.multiupload.com/5SL69MVUTA

2. If the original file has no audio, but I forget to turn it off in the options, HDC starts encoding but finishes without a resulting file. Could this be fixed by automatically disabling audio in the encoding options if no audio is detected, or give some kind of warning?

3. I'm using the latest 2.5 version - v.2.5.649.4295. and have these same problems:

Hey. Great software.

Although, why not put it default to x264 in MKV? :)

And perhaps, too, to "copy (original) audio." More importantly, I think the de-noise filters should best be put to off by default. Unless I'm wrong. ;)

Yours,
twipley

@twipley
You can create your own profile with your preferred settings and then load this when you start the program. That way you can always be outputting to H264 in MKV (remember x264 is a compressor, not a standard) and keep your original audio.

twipley
20th July 2010, 17:18
Ye. I've already done that. Although I still wonder why the denoise filters are put on (though at "slight") by default.

check your dss configuration (namely ffdshow) if something is "wrong"
or change decoder for your capture

ffdshow has default options set. It wasn't loading when I watched the original file in ZoomPlayer or WMP. It did when I enabled Raw video in ffdshow codecs, but no change in encoding results. Could you take a look at the sample?

Thanks for the reply, but this isn't a dvd rip (unless I missed something) and I simply can not fix it in VDub, which is what I've been doing for donkey's years.

Interestingly though, when I allow Beyond TV's Divx conversion to run, there isn't a problem.

Leads me to believe there is a problem with HD-CTX.

@*Touche*

there is something very weird with your files

all the samples have 25 fps, but there is a speedup on dss decoding

you can try opening the hdconverttox_testni1.avs in mpc and let's play it (or virtualdub) and check for information

another try is to force for dss decoding the changefps to 12.5 or similar

anyway i doubt that's a problem of hdc

could you post the original sample ? (since Testni1.avi don't have cursor i don't think it's the original)

Hmm, it is the original. I have the cursor when I play it.

"you can try opening the hdconverttox_testni1.avs in mpc and let's play it (or virtualdub) and check for information"

What information should I check for?

And how come FFmpegsource doesn't speed it up?

buzzqw
22nd July 2010, 16:37
ffmpegsource rely on ffmpeg, directshowsource rely on... directshowsource!

these are two different kind of decoding, each one with pro and cons

Two questions, when I am accepting PGC and select Multi Episodes, would there be any way to have all multi episodes added to queue as individual encodes?

Can I set a fixed width to use so that once file has been analysed and cropped that all adjuetments are made to the fixed width? Eg if I set width to 720 and I want it to stay at that regardless of analysis but leave height adjustable.

flebber

Would it be easy to enable a set Fixed height option in the profile text.
#Crop&Resize
Crop Obey to AR=0
Follow ITU Resizing=0
No Resize Crop=0
Anamorphic=0
Set MOD Width=16
Set MOD Height=16
Set Height = 720
Set Width = 400
No AutoCrop=0

Could be useful for specific device profiles that need set display size options Or leaving the Width Variable = Off could allow for automatic cropping and resizing.

Ever since I upgrade to latest version, I find that the final file is not made onto wherever I save it, and I have to mux the .avi and .mp3 from jobx folder manually.

Is there any log file I can post to help identify the problem?

you must select each episodes and add one at time

Can I set a fixed width to use so that once file has been analysed and cropped that all adjuetments are made to the fixed width? Eg if I set width to 720 and I want it to stay at that regardless of analysis but leave height adjustable.

you can always say yes to assume same properties to all file
in this way no change is made on width/height

hello,
Ever since I upgrade to latest version, I find that the final file is not made onto wherever I save it, and I have to mux the .avi and .mp3 from jobx folder manually.

Is there any log file I can post to help identify the problem?

Jackkoho (numerous time donor)

this problem is fixed in next release
you can download the "beta3" package build (some post above)

The only issue is that with multi episode DVD you are reopening the same ifo which means re-analyzing to access the other PGC's. Unless I am doing it wrong?

For Each PGC it seems I need to reanalyse the ifo to access the next PGC.

yes, you are right, you must reopen the ifo

Buzzqw but that then resets the sizing as its re analyzed, thats why i questioned either being able to fix width or import all pgc's from a multi-episode at once.

Hey Mate. just writing in regards to Linux compatibility. I remember a few years back you had said that Automkv will run on Linux using Wine (limited)

wine 1.2 was released a few days ago http://www.winehq.org/announce/1.2

Loads and loads of changes here. I can play most modern games fine using wine and am wondering what you think about using hdconvertox on wine??

I am going to try run an encode using WINE however Ii am not an expert. I know there are many options in hdconvertox, some which when turned on may trip a bug in wine.

If we get good results running on Linux, maybe it could get mentioned it on the main page. I would be happy to help attempt a tutorial for getting it running on wine although I have never done one before, but I’m sure I’ll be able to sort it out..

Cheers!!

@alter4

in next full update hdc bitrate will put files in standard analysis folder

@technoir1

:(
at home i have only linux computers (fedora and ubuntu).. consider this..

until eac3to don't work on linux.. i cannot resolve

BUT, don't worry, for sure i will do something for linux too :)

BHH

wine 1.2 runs eac3to with a "platinum rating"

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=11844

would there be a way to make a hdconvertox linux version and WINE to run the eac3to program since it does not run natively in linux??

I am not a programmer but the idea seems possible right?

I'd like to try the Beta version but I don't want to search through the entire thread to find the beta package and then the latest updates. I don't want to miss any crucial updates. What do you think about adding the beta package and beta updates to the first post? I think with a warning message people will understand that it's just a beta. This might get you a few more people trying it out and providing feedback for you.

Thanks,
Garth

Buzzqw I have been testing the latest beta but have a serious issue. Beta-3 is crashing after analysing file.

I select analyse file, check multi episodes and accept pgc. HDC at this point is crashing it doesn't give me the opportunity to issue a make report as it has already crashed.

Edit is version : 3.0.667.4452 and note that the last stable version handles ifo file fine.

I am using version 2.5.649.4295 and have tried to convert a bluray to avi xvid and in the video settings say that I want a 10,000 bitrate and it is outputting only a 500-700 bit video

I've also tried setting the output video size to be 10 GB and it's again giving me only 500-700 MB file sizes

I've tried setting size to 0 or 10 GB (10000 MB) or setting bitrate and all combinations, but I always get this horribly low outputted video size/quality.

What am I doing wrong ?

Here is the report output - in this case I tried setting the output size to 8000 MB (8 GB)file size and only got a file with only 512 kbps bitrate - amounting to an output video size of 573 MB

I'm lost on this issue... why isn't it giving me what I want?

Actually probably know what caused my error, I just placed the latest beta.exe in the 2.5 HDC folder. There probably is a new HDC app folder as well isn't there.:)

@TraumaDoc

xvid_encraw don't handle correctly bitrate over 10000.
You must use a bitrate of 9999

@flebber
hdc 3 has a different folder structure!

@Buzzqw,

Another user directed me to the current BETA versions.

I have a few items for you based on my first test.

1) Thanks to your helpful NVtools check, I decided to download the latest nvtools package (2023). Since version 2021, there is only one .dll included in the release dgDecodeNV.dll does the multisource stuff now and doesn't need dgMultiDecodeNV.dll anymore. I just copied the first and renamed it to satisfy your check, so this isn't really a problem. Just something to be aware of for the future.

2) My first job was to encode a .mkv file to a .avi file. Everything worked until the mux. The program crashed with two errors posted. Here is the mux.amg file that was generated:
CLEAR
LOAD C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta2\job1\hdconverttox_movie.avi
LOAD C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta2\job1\hdencodertox-pid2.mp3
SELECT FILE 1
ADD VIDEOSOURCE
SET INPUT OPTIONS
SET OPTION MP3 VERIFY CBR ALWAYS
SET OPTION MP3 VERIFY RESDLG OFF
SET OUTPUT OPTIONS
WITH SET OPTION
OPENDML 0
RECLISTS 0
AUDIO INTERLEAVE 1 FR
AVI ADDJUNKBEFOREHEADERS 0
PRELOAD 512
END WITH
SET OPTION CLOSEAPP 1
SET OPTION OVERWRITEDLG 0
SET OPTION DONEDLG 0
SET OPTION ALL AUDIO 1
SET OPTION ALL SUBTITLES 1
START D:\HDC\MainMovie\Movie\VIDEO_TS\D2_movie.avi

It gave me errors about CBR checking and resdlg checking. I compared a .amg from HDC 2.X and noticed a line "Set Options Input" that wasn't there in the Beta version. I added the line in the .amg file above (in red) and the mux worked fine. I really don't know what I'm doing, so I hope this makes sense to you.

I'm using version 3.0.667.4452.

@flebber

What do you get if you copy the ChapterGen.exe line to a command window and run it? Do you get an error? Does it create a file?

Buzzqw to kid proof HDC would it be possible to be able to minimize HDC to tray so my kids don't click on it whilst its encoding. Less important but could the console be hidden as well, maybe just have a basic progress monitor in HDC instead?

since i have kids too ( 2.5 years, 1.1 year !) i fully understood your problem :p
hdc can be closed and encoding can run
hdc has no way (actually) to get a progress report..

about hidden console.. could be done.. but you will not see anything till end of queue

Better Idea: Keep a separate user account on Windows for the kids, and require a password to get into your own account. You can log into your side, set up and start encoding jobs, then switch users into their side. They wont be able to mess with what's running of your side (or get into your personal files, website favorites, etc.) without your password.

The only danger at that point is them turning off the PC.

Knew you would understand with the kids :). I am using new beta4 and its working without error for me, I was wondering though how you would incorporate new GOP and multi slice options?

beta 5

http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX-beta5.rar

what's new ?

totally changed audio handling for mkv input
now on mkv input hdc will use mkvinfo for analyze the audio/subs part

and will use mkvextract as preprocessor for eac3to since the new header removal option is incompatible with eac3to

please, try it and report back!

@edit: what should i change for opengop and multi slice options ?

I was doing an encode with latest beta and my system felt more sluggish than usual. I brought up the process and x264 was running at 357000. I don't usually look at this is this usual?

mem usage is due to script/encoding options...

@buzzqw

I found a couple of problems with Beta5.

There is a path error in the line that tries to extract the .ac3 file from the .mkv file...

"C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\applications\mkvmerge\mkvextract.exe" tracks "d:\hdc\mainmovie\testmovie\video_ts\testmovie.mkv" 2:"C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\job1\mkv_audio_2_.ac3"

It should be ...applications\mkvtoolnix\mkvextract.exe

After fixing that, I ran into another error when eac3to tries to convert the .ac3 file into a .mp3 file.

"C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\applications\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\job1\mkv_audio_2_.ac3" 2: stdout.wav -down16 -down2 | "C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\applications\audio\lame.exe" - -h --cbr -b 160 "C:\HDC\HDConvertToX_3Beta5\job1\hdencodertox-pid2.mp3"

This gives an unsupported audio format error. By changing the :2 to :1 (or removing it) it makes the encode happen. I'm guessing the :2 is leftover from processing the .mkv file instead of the already extracted .ac3 file.

And I see Beta5 fixed the Chapter extraction problem I was going to report on Beta 4... Thanks!

@Buzzqw

Before you publish beta6, I think I have one more for you. I still see issues with chapters in Beta 5.

If I start HDC and setup an encode from DVD Vob to MKV, it picks ChapterGen.exe in Beta4 or ChapterExtractor.exe in Beta5 to get the chapter information. That seems to work like it should.

If I happen to setup an encode from mkv to avi (just have to 'add to queue'), then open up the .ifo file and setup the DVD Vob to MKV encode, it tries to use mkvextract.exe to extract the chapter information. This doesn't seem to be valid and doesn't work. I clicked "NO" when it asked "Assume same properties as previous file?". I also loaded my mpegToMkv profile to do this, although I don't think the profile load affects it. It appears that some "processing mkv" flag is left on that causes this.

After an overnight encode, I found no output file, I traced it back to the bad chapters.txt file and was able to run ChapterExtractor.exe from Beta2 to get the chapters and then ran the mkvmerge.exe line to get the mkv file without having to redo the entire encode.

Thanks for the quick turn around on fixes. I know there are too many options for you to test every possible encoding method before each release, so I don't mind helping kill the bugs.
