@gasnyder
update hdc
the previus version will read the fps of dgi input by parsing dgi files.
now it will rely on decoding

I've downloaded the new version (2.3.577.4004) but I don't notice any difference.

My example is a short (48 second) grab from an MPEG2 vob using DGIndexNV (dgi). After analyzing the file, HDC reports Frame Rate 29.970, Total Frames 1129 and Run Time 0:0:38.

The same sample (+/- a few frames) from DGIndex (d2v) results in Frame Rate 29.970, Total Frames 1436, Run Time 0:0:48

If I choose ForceFilm in DGIndex, I get Frame Rate 23.976, Total Frames 1137, Run Time 0:0:48. Since it appears that DGIndexNV is indexing with ForceFilm, I would expect to see similar numbers from the dgi input. For this source, using No Deinterlace is required to get the correct output.

For the dgi case, if I use the NVTools ForceFilm deinterlace option the video ends up ok. Using No Deinterlace results in a 29.97 FPS .mkv file with 1436 frames.

Maybe I just don't understand how the index file relates to the encoding job. Since I know how to make things work, maybe this isn't really important but it would be nice to understand what I'm doing.

Thanks

open the hdconverttox_nat geo hd20100212-06_35_13_cut_cutkk.avs with virtualdub

do you get the good framerate or not ?

@gasnyder
you can open the analysis.avs in analysis folder with virtualdub and check for framerate
i don't know how dgnv handle the ivtc
i can only say that hdc open the dgi and reports back what decoder say

Yes same thing, but I did more test and used FDSS2 and things now almost are okay. because picture stop for 1 second ( sound is running ) then it run,
and the strange thing is synchronizing still right ( same problem happen with raw file ). Now if I use FDSS slow motion the bug occur, but picture run from the beginning, also if I try any HD mkv already downloaded everything seems okay.

Tnx Buzz, great!

I noticed one strange thing though. It's not something major, but anyways...

When saving settings to default profile (HDConvertToX.ini) everything was saved allright (I checked), BUT when opening HDC (new full package and also old ones!) audio settings are NOT restored as in default profile! Other settings are restored correctly.

Strange is that if I later manualy load the same profile audio settings are loaded correctly too.

Any idea what could be problem?

When I use VBR for audio with Nero's encoder, the size of the audio is not being taken into account in the total MKV filesize. So while I have MDC set for 230 MB files, the encodes with ABR audio are 230 MB, but the VBR ones are 248 MB.

I hope I haven't missed something, but I can't get my default video settings to load automatically when HDC starts. Here are the settings in hdconverttox.ini:

Video Codec=X264 in MKV
Video Quality=7
Encoding Mode=1 pass quality

But, HDC will not automatically load these at startup, I have to choose them every time. Same with my audio defaults (Copy Audio).

feanor12
14th February 2010, 14:13
Did you save your profile with default name (HDConvertToX.ini)?
... because only that profile is automaticaly loaded when you start HDC.

Everything works ok, except automaticaly loading audio settings (as I said few posts above).
In my case HDC should set audio encoder to Nero AAC, 64kb/s - but it stays on MP3, 128kb/s

I've seen posts about putting nVidia cards to work, but nothing about ATI. I have an ATI Radeon 4800 series card, is there any way I could use it to make encoding (talking specifically about HDConvertToX, don't want to use anything else :) ) faster? Or is it planned for the future maybe? I don't really know who it is up to do that, but I figured I ask here :)

nx6
14th February 2010, 17:06
is taken in account , but since it's vbr.. HDC can only guess the final size
But the size difference in size is the same size as the audio stream when I demux the file.

Since audio is the first thing to get encoded, couldn't HDC get that final value after it's finished and recompute the video bitrate to match the requested final size?

Also, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but when I try to enter a filesize that starts with a "1" HDC freezes and then crashes. Like I'll type the 1, then everything stops, and the main HDC window just goes away. But if I type "75" and then add a "1" to the front it's okay. Is HDC crashing because it's trying to recompute the bitrate while I type? I always load and analyze the input file before I start setting options.

Hello, I've another question.

When I want to set up a queue of several different sources, I think things might go wrong with the analyses. When I analyse first file, everything goes into 'analysis' folder, including movie.d2v file. And when I analyse the second source for interlacing, I assume it overwrites the 'movie.d2v' file (since there are no "job1" or "job2" folders in "analysis" folder). Then the first source is left with the analysis of the second source, as there is a command line in the queue for the first source "copy *****movie.d2v****". Now, I've no idea what the "movie.d2v" file is for, but I'm not sure this is right.

nx6
14th February 2010, 21:33
The d2v file lists info about what VOB files make up a movie, aspect ratio, frame rate and the analysis of source type. It's done so you have this information to use for the settings you choose for cropping, etc, when you set up the job for HDC's queue.

I'm pretty sure this analysis gets done again at the start of the job run. So it doesn't matter if the d2v file is a different one when you start the queue, because those files will get overwritten anyway when the job comes up with ones that pertain to the job you're about to run, and then all the work files get created in the "job#" folder.

nx6

@Buzz:

I just started something new this morning, and I'm looking at deinterlacing issues.

Source is NTSC, interlaced.

When I did a quick test encoding with the regular "Interlaced" setting I didn't see anything weird, but then I did the final encode with the "Interlaced HQ" setting now I'm seeing what looks like very clear Telecine artifacts (three frames normal, two combed).

Do I have to use both InterlacedHQ and Telecined to get the corrected frames now?

Hi, sometimes i've a problem with some mkv files. Its the known Roundingerror. If im starting the conversion eac3to says that the inputframerate is not supportet. Mediainfo says its 23,976, eac3to says its 23,975...(look at atachements)

Its not at all files but at the most.

I've the latest Avisynth 2,58 and the newest ffdshow from xvidvideo.ru

my hdconverttox version is 2.4.591.4073 but the problem exists since a longer time.

the problem is within eac3to... not of HDC

you can try adding to eac3to the -23.976 parameter (by editing the queue)

@Frozen-Figo

have you edited/deleted/renalyzed files after saving queue ?
maybe the "job1" folder is missing ?

look at error at dos prompt
(add a pause at end of queue)

I just reinstalled everything and updated to the newest HDConvert 2.4.580.4029>>>

When I use H264 MKV on 1 pass quality, then it crashes.
When I use my old version 2.1.458.3528 (in the new folder) it works. I followed the Windows 7 install with K-Lite codec.
I've been using the tool for months to convert VC-1 Blu-Ray rips > mkv for PS3 streaming.

Thoughts on the crash?

NEVERMIND: The newest update from within corrected it/

try remuxing the mkv with mkvmerge forcing the fps value

then use as input the new mkv

I have already try that. I've extract the 264 videostream and ac3 stream. Than i speedup the ac3 with beesweet to 25 frames. After that i mux all together in a new mkv. at the videostreamoptions i fill in 25FPS...

The errormessage is the same. As u can see at the picture eac3to means that the videostreamframerate (23.975) dont match to the containerframerate (23.976 or after mux/remux 25).

EDIT:
Ive found a way to fix that problem:

I demux the mkv with tsmuxer. The only config i do is the option to change the fps info of the 264 stream directly in the header. see here:

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/6108/zwischenablage01gu.jpg

after that i remux the ac3 and the 264 stream into a new mkv without any other changes and it works fine.

My result is that there is a problem of ac3to to read the correct pfs info of the 264 stream (not the mkv fps info).

Sorry for bad english....

Damn, big thread, and i havent read all of it, but i was wondering when having a dozen files in the queue, to see how far the queue is advanced/ which file it is encoding at that time?

ah, so job2 means the second encode in the queue.
Now to remember how many encodes i put in the queue

Or is there a way to find out without browsing the queuelist?
