last one.. if you have installed avisynth 64bit

just delete in analyze.avs the loadplugin of dss, is you will use the 64bit of your installed avisynth

otherwise.. i suppose is more a Win7 issue than 64bit

I am using 32 bit avisynth, just been reading about 64bit, seems all plugins and filters would be required in 64 bit as well, ill leave this for another time, not worth 10% IMO. Thanks though, ive gone back to 32bit x264 :D

How is it actually supposed to work?
I define a workfolder path in workfolder.txt. I also have multitemp.txt in the HDC program directory.
When I start up HDC, it shows under Set working directory the path which I have defined in workfolder.txt. Correct.
Now when I open a source file (by drag'n drop), the workfolder path is immediately overwritten (why?) by the path of the input folder, and all temporary files are copied there, which I don't want. I want to have them in my workfolder which I defined in workfolder.txt. I don't want to change to the input folder and disregard my workfolder as defined in workfolder.txt.
Do I miss something?

I have some problems with AVIMux_GUI.

At the end of encoding HDC wants to mux files (avi container), but I got error that there is 0MB free space on disk (I have a lot of free space). AVIMux_GUI ask me if I wish to continue and when I agree muxing is finished normally.

Another strange thing is that AVIMux_GUI makes it's output in HDC_1.6.beta\applications folder! :confused:



Another question:

When encoding dvd - which file is best to select as input? video_ts.ifo or vts_0X_1.ifo?
How about .vob? (sorry for stupid question)

try not giving ANY output file name

and.. if you select video_ts.ifo, HDC will select the main movie (so.. if you don't know what ifo to process.. just select video_ts.ifo)

I have WinXP. I think I left output blank.

When I have film dvd I select corresponding ifo, but in this case I have bonus dvd with addons, comentaries... and I want to encode all of them. :rolleyes:
If I choose as input VIDEO_TS.IFO there are 126 PGCs to choose! :eek:
If I choose as input VTS_01_0.IFO there are 4 PGCs.
If I choose as input VTS_02_0.IFO there are 14 PGCs... and so on

There are 9 IFO files: VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_0X_0.IFO (where X goes from 1-8)


Should I select PGC one by one and encode all of them seperately (except PGCs with menus...), or is there any shortcut maybe? :rolleyes:

This may be similar to encode dvd with more episodes?

when selecting video_ts, HDC will select the biggest ifo, .. so you have an ifo with 126 pgc...

you must select the pgc you want to encode, no shortcut

OR if you select the vts_0X_1.VOB , HDC will process all vobs belonging to this vts, and so you will have a big movie, of many pgc..

xvid is SMP optmized, BUT avisynth script.. not always

if you install avisynth MT (2.5.8 MT version) , and copy mt.dll into your \windows\system32 folder

you will got a boost of speed

Every user can chose his "configuration" without edit .ini file.
I think it's a good metod, especially for not advanced user .

well... i could add an application for creating persolized ini.. but is somewhat crazy :eek:

more over is very easy to copy a file for activating an option.. then delete it/rename it when not needed

even is easy to handle a big configuration file from developers perspective, for a newby or someone than't don't want hassle himself , it's better to use one hidden option at time.. and when users have educated themself use all hidden options wanted

I see that you've learned your lesson but you don't have to include all options on first page (main window). Those options could be hidden under ADVANCED button or something similar.

It was required at the lunch of PSP. Later sony removed all stupid restrictions.

Yeah, I would rather see that also, perhaps just a tab named "Hidden Options" since the count of hidden options have grown so big, that people will start to loose count, and will end up forgetting about creating this or that "hidden" file.
It could be done slowly, replacing 1 at a time, but of course i think it will be one hell of a job if you need to replace .txt files with data with a respective tab.

Anyway, my perspective is that some .ini file will be the most "user secure" method, to make sure people don't forget this or that with every encode, and perhaps also for easier checking when, sometime, somewhere, there is a problem.

well.. since hidden options aren't mean for default users, it should be used only "cum grano salis" (with salt in brain, translated from latin)

maybe i will try the one ini for all.. but .. again i think that copy files from hidden to main folder is a lot more easier than editing a ini

It will be very useful if you please add an option to add external srt subtitle in HDC.
I dont like to manually demux with DG Indexer first.
I want to input an mkv or avi file and then add an external sub.... is it possible???

Given that the proposed tab would be under "Encoding Options" perhaps the phrase "Advanced User" would be more suitable?

I found a bug re: the filenames for eac3to and mkvmerge. I've ripped out 2 chapters with DVDShink, and I'm trying to encode to MKV. Final muxing fails because HDC has the file name wrong for the mux:

Notice in the call to eac3to, it uses "PID2" but in the call to mkvmerge, it uses "PID3" for the AC3 file (copy audio option selected).

Loving the updates, buzzqw.

One thing. When testing on my Blu-ray sources, I noticed that the Colormatrix option is on by default. Normally I would think this is okay, but upon inspecting the generated script, I noticed that you are converting from Rec. 709 to Rec. 601. The general consensus on this forum is that this is incorrect. Rec. 601 is okay for SD H.264, but Rec. 709 is for HD H.264.

The quick fix is to just uncheck the option, but for those who may not know about this fact, it may cause color issues.

Well, with all due respect, I believe the layout of AutoMKV was much better. Any user reading this forum and using your program is familiar with ini files, and in my opinion, they are much easier to edit and understand than the multiple file method currently in HDC. Having advanced tabs is even easier. Although with AutoMKV, I could make most of my main changes on the first page - setting profile, subs, audio, etc. With HDC, I have multiple tabs to go through just for a simple encode.

I saw your last post on the AutoMKV thread, but as I mentioned before, I can't move to HDC until it has the same functionality as AutoMKV. I haven't tested it lately, but I think the only thing missing is the ability to hide subs.

I have to agree. My success with HDC has been sketchy at best.. What I like the most about AutoMKV is the ability to save current configuration and make it default. That way I do not have to go through the tabs and make all the correct changes each time I start it. HDC has great possibilities, but save configuration is truly necessary for me. Thanks Buzz!

I would second the wish for saving the settings, possibly as profiles (Save as ....), or to extend the list of hidden options (or .ini file) to pre-set more paramaters, like no_noise_filter, no_color_matrix, audio settings, etc.)
I would be reluctant to overloading the very nice GUI with too many tabs and buttons.

Interesting proposal. Just some quick thoughts:
- The Default Options Tab is already rather full. More options will soon require another tab, and it may not be so easy to maintain the concept
- I would prefer to include in the defaults for the Video Codec not only the codec but also the Encoding Mode and the Bitrate (or crf ..) similar to the settings in the current Video tab
- Same for the audio: Codec, Bitrate and Audio Channels should be included in the defaults settings
- The current Filters tab may be moved to the Advanced Options
- Shutdown, Reboot, Suspend should probably be in a pulldown menu as they are exclusive. Probably the same applies for the MOD4,8,16 selection

As I said, no criticism, just some first thoughts on the suggested concept.
