Could the "Free AVS String" be extended to allow insertion of a multi-line script?

Not sure if this is a bug:
Each tame a re-save a configuration the Multitemp=1 is reset to Multitemp=0.

buzzqw

maybe i fixed the multitemp.. could you redownload latest beta ini ? (i will check tomorrow)

free avs: try joining line with "." like undot().blur().sharp()
(anyway i will check it too)

It also seems that "Insert chapter every" remains always checked, even though I set AutoChapter=0 in the .ini.

ok, thanks.
I enabled colormatrix now for a test. Encoding starts as expected, but only the 1st vob out of 7 is encoded.
(Audio and subs were demuxed for all vobs as expected).

This is a continuation of the AutoMKV problem I had with a video.

After using HDC, the encoding is also messed up, but in a different way. eac3to will say video overlap over 8 (or 9) frames at time (after around 00:55:00). It also exceeds the playtime (01:44:15 vs 01:47:28)

The video is correctly encoded all the way to that point, then it just messes up in the framerate.

Using other decoders don't work, it is more like I didn't test it. The reason is there is a strange problem when I use other decoders. x264's speed is GREATLY reduced. I'm getting around 18.5fps with eac3to, but with the other decoders I'm getting around 3-4fps. Also, there are 4 ffdshow icons on my tray for some reason. Is that a possible cause?

have you checked some "filters" inside ffdshow ? like post processing, resizing ?
these could slow down encoding.
And.. btw for avi/mkv input hdc will select directshowsource as decoder, you can try forcing directshowsource2 or ffmpegsource

I did uncompressed movie only rips with DVDShrink and in that, turned off the unwanted subs.
Both the manual extracted subs and the HDC runs were done from these movie only rips.

While HDC was running I checked the hdc_subs.idx and compared it to the manual extract.
I then renamed the manual extracts to hdc_subs.XXX and replaced the sub files in the working folder with the manual extract and it actually worked.
I have had one successful run with this so far but I'll try it again tomorrow.

isn't nice to reauthor subs in ifo...
please post the hdc_subs.list and the ifo

your analysis is very interesting

hdc will list (for selecting) all subs, wide or not

from your first code i can see you have select the 0,1,2,3,4 listed and not the 0,2,4,6,8
the number 0,1,2,3,4 is taken from subs. look in hdc sub list, after language, you have a number. I take this

please mail me directly the ifo, thanks

but hdc should report in hdc.list all numbers you select.. it's vsrip that don't extract the 0 you want.. but other 0 track ...

HDC CAN convert from avi/mpeg1/flv... just select as decoder "Use DirectShowSource"

I tried this but did not work. I tried all in the decoder list and hitting analyze did not bring up the audio

and ... for automkv problem... post on automkv thread... (anyway on avi/mkv source you MUST specify the muxing AR in advanced settings)

This fixed up anyway after I picked --engage keep_bitstream_ar_info. Hoping this is not a bad thing?

A question. I was advised if I wanted automkv to encode at best quality and not care about the size to pick Pure constant quality mode. Does such a feature exist in HDC?

I do remember it not working correctly sometimes since I ended up with a file 1.5x the original.

In any case if it does exist in HDC has this been resolved? Just checking

Also do I understand this correctly. HDC and automkv have same capabilities but HDC is easier for us Noobs. The initial page tells us what it does but does not quite make it clear about the difference between these gui's.

thanks again

good idea, since x264 signal the ar

just select the 1 pass quality

I do remember it not working correctly sometimes since I ended up with a file 1.5x the original.
select the 1 pass quality , with the preset "extreme quality", and be surprised

Also do I understand this correctly. HDC and automkv have same capabilities but HDC is easier for us Noobs. The initial page tells us what it does but does not quite make it clear about the difference between these gui's.

hdc now have more features and less errors then automkv (expecially with the new full build)

HDC can do all automkv does except few very advanced avisynth manipulation , like QTrim and HGAVS

HDC has a more advanced queue support, audio and subs handling (thanks to Acid-Burn for latest bug!) , very good m2ts support... and so on

do.. get stick with HDC, Automkv is a deadhorse

No, really, thank you for this GUI but sure, this is a good bug fix and I'm only glad I could help on this small part of the GUI :)

Aeon flux is running right now. Got an error in the extract from my movie only rip, probably an problem in the new IFO, so I changed back to the complete rip and for now it seems to work perfectly. The .list does capture the subtitles I want to keep and VSRip seems to extract it perfectly into the .idx.
hdc_subs.list and hdc_subs.idx is in the attachment if you want to see it for yourself :)

ok, thanks buzzqw...HDConverToX become better day by day
For my purpose, 720p/h264/mkv to 720p/xvid/mkv Xbox-compatible, it's already virtually perfect.
Making small changes in the file queue.bat, i can go over the few limitations, such as the different enconding of the audio tracks, or the adding external subtitles...che figata (cool)

I like HDC too much! :D

How do you have 720p/xvid/mkv working on teh xbox 360?

Why would we need to re-encode for xbox360 the video - I thought only the audio?

EDIT: hdc will propose a % to analyze (proportional to length of movie) , but user will be able to change it

StaxRip is a great software, my kudos to Stax

Staxrip has a very clean and clever interface, it's just do what is proposed, but with an engine able to do near anything. StaxRip is very modular.
I must admin that i never used it for "full" encoding but i used it in several tests

and.. since you know StaxRip feel free to suggest idea you would like to see on HDC too

@Sharc

directshowsource("c:\users\user1\movies\there_will_be_blood_deu\video_ts\vts_05_1.vob",audio=false)

directshowsource cannot join multiple vobs. DirectShowSource isn't to use with dvd input (or at least with more then one vob)
(well.. avisynth CAN join several video.. but this is another story)

maybe i will add a warking when input is a dvd and DSS is the preferred decoder

Hi buzz, perhaps the only thing I miss in HDC (compared to staxrip) is the "clever" way of the Compressibility test, meaning :
1) You choose your desired output filesize.
2) You let it run the compressibility test.
3)) The program suggests the best resolution (resizing down) for getting a great output quality (it will also show the final estimated bitrate for this reso, + horizontal/vertical Modxx values, and the error% of the resized resolution compared to the original input resolution.

buzzqw
27th May 2009, 19:39
... well.. this features is somewhat already present!

just set the quality/speed slider... go in utilty and check the compression test

it will use your "quality" to make a compression test. at end it will report how big the final size will be (hdc will do a constant quality compression test)

then you can tune hdc (lowering resolution/using a "slower" profile) and make another test

on automkv i have "optimized" the routine.. and it's like staxrip

maybe i will "upgrade" the CT too in HDC

The problem is, I tried using DGIndex at first, however it corrected something in the .d2v index file (renaming it to .d2v.bad) and created a fixed .d2v. The x264 encoder however created a terribly looking blended picture based on the fixed d2v.

Here the fix which DGIndex applied:

It looks as if the mess was created at the transition from the studio intro to the movie.

My issue has been fixed with DSS. The fps problem was my own stupidity (I forgot to change the resolution).

One thing that I noticed is that DSS is slower than eac3to! I'm hitting high 16fps with DSS, but encoding with eac3to, I'm getting 18.5fps.

One thing that I would like very much is subtitles. Is it possible to make another option, where the subtitle is extracted, but it is not muxed, but as a separate file. My Archos 5 doesn't support subtitles muxed in a container but supports it if it is as a separate file. It is a pain to use mmg's command line to extract the subtitles, and it is very time consuming. I don't get why do they have to go through the entire file for a 50KB file.

Adub
28th May 2009, 01:52
They have to go through the entire file because the subtitle is indexed throughout the entire movie. It's not like one little file in a folder at the very beginning of the MKV.

As for the commandline issues, have you tried MKVExtractorGUI?

Yes.

For some reason for some files it would just not extract it. Then I have to use command line.

please post a sample
Where do I upload a sample?

good idea, since x264 signal the ar

I feel like a dumba$$. It worked with a sample I used for the same video which I cut with virtualdub but did not work with the movie itself(scratching head)

just select the 1 pass quality
thanks will try this

select the 1 pass quality , with the preset "extreme quality", and be surprised
Again will try

hdc now have more features and less errors then automkv (expecially with the new full build)

Will do thanks

Note that this features isn't supported by official x264 build and should be used only if you manually substitute the x264.exe with one supporting this features. This option will force x264.exe to create a x264log_XXXX.txt in temporary folder. This option will be no mentioned in manual since it's totally unsupported. AKA try yourself but don't report problem.
