i had the code for integrating a full non linear editor, with 4 video and 6 audio tracks, with transitions... but

Quite right... sounds interesting... what is it ?

I'm trying to run this and only getting about a 1/2 second video as output. Is this a problem with running on Vista? Here's my log:

I have a problem with the audio when changing the frame rate. I want to have a ac3 track compatible with Encore CS3. Aften is able to generate one, but I need to reencode the source track but because I change the frame rate of the movie, I'm not able to keep the audio sync.
I start a new thread to see if there are suggestions about changing the frame rate

in advanced audio options you have the possibility to "strech" the audio .. :)

Hi,
I have problem with the outputsize.
I set 2 cd size on the first tab.
Then I set instead of 2cd 75% on the second tab.
In the log:
08:47:19 Selected Size: 2 CD / 1
...
08:47:19 Specify Quality: 75
I think, if I set the quality, the 2cd shouldn't be used.
(It should be 'grey'?)
:confused:
Thx.

the second tab is to set number of media
you have asked 75 * 2 CD ;)
also
08:47:19 Specify Quality: 75
checking this will disable any bitrate computing based on disk settings (i agree that disk settings should be disabled when specify quality is checked)

I suppose this includes the option to "shrink"... since
origi movie = 10:54:00
new movie = 10:53:21

@buzzqw
I didn't see the strech/skring options in Advanced audio menu.
I choose me input .avi
choose AC3 /original for audio track 1: bouton!!! -> choose frequence : 48000 , tempo : 24 -> 23.976
choose profile : mkv / x264 fastest 1 pass
the audio track is encoded and remove, but that's it.. I dont have a mkv or any mkv script. and the audio length didn't change either.

Enabled FFMPEG Encoding: AUDIO ac3 5.1ch
why this ?
you have select to use ffmpeg to encode the file only for audio

@buzzqw
I didn't know. I though it was to force 5.1 audio encoding.. not just the audio.
and Why the tempo was not done ?

@RandomEngy
can you confirm that vobs belonging to
like VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB ...
exist ?
also USE LATEST BUILD! the 0.92c
thanks
BHH
Well through trial and error I got some episodes to encode. The wiki help really is terrible. Now I've got a problem where in some scenes the lines look jagged and broken, like it used line duplication for deinterlacing or something. Been trying different options but none of them fix it.

@buzzqw
is it possible to add a basic function in the advance menu :)
Change fps to xxx. that will be apply to video and all audio track. Now I think we have to choose fps for the video and audio in separate menus.. and I don't know what is the difference for all the options : convertfps, assumeftp,mv..
An option just t change the fps the basic way.. and if the user know what is doing, he can change the settings.
what do you think ?
and can you add other profile.. a more advance profile. like
Bluray complain profile. H264 720p 720x480 23.976p, 29.97i, 59.94p
1080p 1920x1080 23.976p, 29.97i, 59.94p (that the profiles in Encore CS3)..
AC3 448kbits
you can add the same thing for Ipod, xbox.. like that the user will be sure to have something that will play on there devises without concern..

Yes! Finally got it working under Vista without the cscript.exe WMCmd.vbs error.
I tried all of the suggestions in the thread, but nothing worked. The last thing I tried was using the 0.92d release.
The result was a 720p 5.1 surround sound WMV :)
Thanks for making a great program!

I tried to encode in mkv avc1 a short 2 minutes soccer game ripped from Rai Uno from sat in ts format. The final result not seems really good. because video is deinterlaced but is not smooth and it's jerky.
What is the best config for sport event to obtain a progressive material and a good result. is it possible?

Now I've got a problem where in some scenes the lines look jagged and broken, like it used line duplication for deinterlacing or something.
please post the section of log about deinterlacing routines

you can add the same thing for Ipod, xbox.. like that the user will be sure to have something that will play on there devises without concern..

I'm using FFDshow + Haali Media Splitter
and 0.92d found here (When you open the program it'll say 0.92c, just ignore that)
http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV092d.exe
I'm not sure exactly what fixed it, so I'll list out all the things I did.
1. Turned off DEP
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1261/vista_disable_dep_noexecute_protection_fix_explorer_crashing
Didn't work.
2. Updated WMCmd.vbs file
http://www.citizeninsomniac.com/WMV/#WMCmd
Didn't work.
3. Changed FFDshow audio decoder setting to 3/2/1 - 6 channels
*Open up the ffdshow audio decoder configuration and select Mixer in the left menu*
Didn't work
4. Applied hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929182
Didn't work.
5. Moved my source file to the AutoMKV directory and encoded from there.
Didn't work.
6. Installed Avisynth 2.5.8a
Didn't work.
7. Installed Avisynth 2.5.6 (still have this installed)
Didn't work.
8. Tried "cscript.exe WMCmd.vbs" from the command line, and this worked, but I still couldn't encode. This is when I thought the problem might be with AutoMKV and not WMCmd.vbs, so I tried AutoMKV092d from the link above and it worked!
I will do some testing to see if I can figure out what exactly fixed it.

I quick way could be that selecting convert fps to xxx, the video and audio setting are setted, and we the user modify one of these settings, that disabled the automatic setting..like a overright.

I tried with HQ Deint without result.
The file is not jerky but is not smooth seems 25 fps is not enough for a good play.
the same broadcast watched on a Panasonic Plasma 37PV60 and
a Sky Box in hdmi (so deinterlaced by Skybox decoder
576i->576p) is better. My htcp is Zoom Player. the filtergraph is CoreAvc+Evr.

I don't think so.
Ts is recorded by a Sky Star 2 so should be the original sat stream.
But anyway this is the original stream.

I have continual problems where the audio fails to encode w/ nero aac. It then tries "directshow" and then tries ffmpeg (but not aac, mp3 it seems).
Anyways, in looking at the output aac file that was generated in those "failed" runs, everything looks normal and it plays back fine in mplayerc.
It doesn't seem like a bad file, as many times I'm able to rerun it and it generates the aac file w/o a problem.

no one knows why audio fails on encoding? Another data point is that if I click the close button (that counts down at the end of encoding) instead of letting it close automatically, it seems to have a higher success rate.

I'm experimenting with new settings (800 width, Q20) and encoding Ferris Bueller's (http://www.idiotsavant.com/bueller/) Day Off (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferris_Bueller's_Day_Off) .
It has one AC3 5.1-surround channel.
I converted to m4a stereo for the 1st audio track and 'copy-original' for the 2nd.
The stereo encodes fine but AutoMKV then tries to transcode the same track to MP3 and fails...

Thanks for helping me with my x264 problem a week ago buzz. One question though..after I have converted the x264 to xvid (1280 x 720p) the audio is always slightly out of sync when dts is stored in the original container. The even odder thing is when I put the converted xvid through AutoGK the file output after is in sync! I have DSS x Video and DSS x Audio checked and using Sharktooth's EQM v3LR.cqm. Using 2 pass insane quality for the xvid.
Thanks.

I should add, that many times it works, and even when it fails I can rerun it and it usually works. The bug I think is it misinterpreting some return value as error when its not a real error.

Hi,
I have a problem. I used to have the 0.89 version of AutoMKV and everything was working just fine. Then I updated to 0.92 (the 0.91 base and the 0.92 .exe file update) and now, using the exact same settings, trying to encode the exact same movies, I get a 150% increase in size. I can't detect any difference in quality. Any idea why this may be? I have CCCP and K-Lite installed, as well as the latest AviSynth and VirtualDub.
My second question is - is it okay if I have both K-Lite and CCCP or do they conflict with one another? Should I get rid of CCCP? The reason I have both is because CCCP is mainly for playback and K-Lite is for encoding as well, so I thought I needed it to get the latest codecs for AutoMKV... But on the other hand AutoMKV has its own codecs so... Please, advise.
Thank you.
Victor

@Bladeforce
autogk extract audio with virtualdubmod then encode it, automkv use the directshowsource and soundout for encoding audio
the problem could be in dss not able to parse correctly the beginning of file.. don't know..
i will try converting with AutoMen (in sign), mencoder is more stable when dealing with mkv/h264 files
@spotter
maybe your antivirus stops vbs script ?
just for fun, try disabling it and relaunch an encode
@Encoder888
decoder pack like cccp/k-lite usually don't mess with encoding
I get a 150% increase in size
make sure you have selected the same disk settings / same constant quality
also.. a log of encoding could help :)

@delacroixp
already fixed on automkv 0.93 beta
I was wondering if we could signal an increase in height for MKV files (eg, 800x336 -> 800x340).
Perhaps you could include a custom "Force Mux AR".
... not another option... ;)
How does 'Automatic signalling' work... does it signal in Resolution or Aspect Ratio ?
Just curious.

Right now, I reverted to 0.91, and while the first attempts sometimes (actually very rarely from scanning the logs) fails, the directshowsource always works after that.

@spotter
could you try the 0.93 beta ?

I was using 0.92b, I can look at 0.93 later, but have many things I'm trying to encode right now, so might take a while, as 0.91 seems to need no babysitting like 0.92b did.

with 0.91 I'm now having an issue where the nic source doesn't seem to work (the aac file produced is with 3kbps, and basically silent) If I switch the avs file to use the directshowsource, it works fine.
and it's the default script, (trying to encode main track and commentary, main track works fine, commentary doesn't, even if I switch the main track's avs file to use the "fixed" commentary ac3 file)
any way to force this?

your audio files have some problems
for forcing directshowsource use in advanced settings "DSS for Audio"
you can also try besweet to encode audio

Since I discovered the joy of smaller and faster encodes (almost realtime) I'm re-encoding The (http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/bbcdvd1003) Planets (1998) (http://www.amazon.com/PLANETS-4PC/dp/0767025520) @ 800x364, Q22, RemoveGrain.
I set up the first four episodes from ISO to batch... came back 5hrs later and AutoMKV has encoded all the episodes into one, not-so-humongous, file.
It's pretty kewl... I'm leaving as-is !!
I'm going to do the same with Disc2 and append with MKVmerge.
It's a pity that there are no chapter points or menu system !

btw
How do you "hide subtitles" with MKVmerge ?
Sometimes I manually encode the audio tracks with BeSweet (takes forever) and mux-all.
Lastime I encoded Ferris Bueller's Day Off (http://www.amazon.com/Ferris-Buellers-Bueller-Bueller-Special-Collectors/dp/B000BNX4MC), I got the German subtitles active on playback, without fail !

I wonder if i could get a feature added that guesses the movie name from the folders the dvd files are in, of course with an optional check box.
E.G
IF current folder name = VIDEO_TS
go down one folder and use that folders name for movie name
Else
use current folder name
End

Hopefully I won't get flamed too bad for asking this...
I've been trying for a couple weeks to get the results I want using this program. For brevity's sake I won't go into details on all the options I've tried but instead state my desired end results. If someone can help me get what I want I would really appreciate it.
I'm trying to find a solution to backup my DVDs and be able to stream them to my xbox 360. I want the video to look exactly like it does with the DVD and I want 5.1 audio (if the DVD supports it). If the video is widescreen I want the stream to be widescreen.
Any xvid/divx encoding I did ended up being choppy with the video, so I've been trying wmv. It's not choppy and seems to be clear, but I can't get the aspect ratio correct.
Can anyone help?

It's a shame that Xbox 360 don't support MKV... it lets you signal a modified aspect ratio... especially
usefull since "cropping, resizing and MOD 16 layout" usually cause a change in the AR !

I have 2 questions about Constant Quality profiles:
1) The quantitizer box/button only shows up when I'm using the pure Constant_Quality profile, but I'm not allowed to use it when I'm encoding with any of the other constant quality profiles, like AQ_Constant_Quality or Constant_Quality_QP. I was just wondering if that was normal... Are the other ones not real constant quality profiles?
2) In earlier versions of AutoMKV, when using a constant quality (of any kind), even if I manually specified the quality percentage from the advanced settings, it didn't make a difference. I thought that was normal, because with constant quality, it's the quantitizer that matters and you can't change the quality percentage manually. However, from 0.91 on I've been able to do that with constant quality profiles - I've been able to change the percentage quality manually from the advanced settings and it does affect greatly the time/size/quality, no matter which constant quality profile I'm using... I don't know if that's a good thing or not, I was hoping you could explain why the difference :)
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
