but pressing the abort button by mistake does...
is there a way to reopen the status window after you closed it (by mistake or not, doesnt matter)
since the MS dos prompt window is hidden, you have no clue how far the encoding is.

hi guys a friend of me has some trouble with auto mkv and his PAL ps3. He has encoded a lot of hd and blu ray rips most 720 and 1080p into mp4 (dvd5) but his f*** ps3 will not play the files ;(.
what to hell is wrong with his ps3 or his ps3_41 profile ...
Could it be that his bluray and hd rips had not the real 720 resolution? 1920x817 instead of 1920x1080. also he have to make an addborders (132.0.132.0) to his script in automkv?

but one thing i've forget to tell is, that if he convert a sample, like 2 or 5 minutes with the same profile, this shit still run on his ps3 but the full movie (4.3 gb) dont run, it says file not supported or corrupted ;(

your PS3 will play movie encoded with the ps3_41 profile fromt he automkv 0.87. but the audio had to be AAC (Nero) and the max file lenght is around 2.2 gigs by file. So if your movie is 4.5 gigs.. split it with YAMB.

I try all the past 2 weeks to try to get it work for the ps3. Try with a sample of 30 sec.. take 10-15 min for a test.. it's easy and fast. I use Tversity to share the mp4 movie from my Windows to PS3.

but listen, if i encode and burn the file(encoded with ps3_41 and automkv 085) on an dvdr with mp4 and nero aac sound. This file works fine on my xbox360 but his xbox and ps3 give him a black screen, so he cannot play this movie too. wääh :( crazy

hm, are you shure, that the size is the reason ? because we encoded an DVD movie into mp4 (3.6) and this BIG file run on his ps3 ... (i'm still splitting the mp4 file:) )

just write in disk setting 2000 2 so you will have 2 slice of 2000mb each

Normally means that something got screwed up somewhere along the line of encoding.
First thing I'd so is reinstall avisynth and ffdshow.

Second, Why not post your log file? See what we can find out. :)
(get the details, what was used, what filters, etc...)

I asked him to send my his config and a sample.

he could start by splitting the file with YAMB.. maybe he didn't configure automkv correctly (I didn't try yet in automkv).

and Jefry can you tell us which version of automkv did you use ? The profile in 087 is correct.

Can you confirm which encoder was use ? without a log we can't do much.

Hello, I would like to thank you for this great tool. It is now my default encoding tool for video.

I have one question: I usually use the 2 CD disk setting in the Output File Size options. I noted that, for some of the movies I encode, if I keep the audio in its original format (5.1 AC3) the resulting MKV file does not fit in 2 CDs. I need 3 CDs (mkvtoolnix splits to 3 files and the last one has little over 1MB). Is this the intended behaviour of the tool or is it a bug? When using AutoGK this didn't used to happen....

Any help is appreciated.

First of all Welcome to the Forum!

(mkvtoolnix splits to 3 files and the last one has little over 1MB)

it isn't a features, that's for surem,remember that video file could not be cut in the middle of a scene but is needed a key frame (I frame)

Maybe the problem is related to computing space requirements (video+audio+subs should fit in 2 CDs ~ 1400MB). I am not sure though, because I am not familiar with AutoMKV internals.

Observation :

I have a 3.5gigs movie(didn't include the sound) and it played well on the PS3.. but when I put the sound.. the limit will be around 2.2gigs.

I read that the PS3 had a limit bitrate in a file.. maybe the video + audio bitrate is too high in a complete movie, but in smaller part it's ok.

I'll like to found more about that.. but I wasn't able.

so If someone had this problem.. I hope this observation can help.

hm, where did you get that infos, with limited data? and how do you encode your aac files? just stereo or DPL or 5.1 Aac?

I searched this post but did not find the answer.

I ripp all subs (for example 20) but just add 2. When I play the mp4 file, dvobsub shows the complete list of subs. How can I only set Automkv to only shows the subs that are really there ?

Is there a way to set a default track for audios and subs (mp4 container, I know there is one with mkv)

I would prefer number 2. But bear in mind that for newbies that use your program (like myself :p) when selecting 2CD for the encoding process the final result should fit in 2 CDs. Otherwise people get confused.
I don't know if that is easy to implement, but if you can it would be awesome.:cool:

Possible issue: "Custom %Comp Check" not saved in queue-x.ini

Last night for the first time I changed the "Custom %Comp Check" from the default 5 to 25 while doing some testing. The job was then queued along with a second, also set to use 25%. On running the jobs however the default of 5% was utilised according to the log (see next post - wouldn't fit in one post).

i dont know why the tiny files , like that i've send you, works fine on the ps3, but if i encode the same file, as a full movie(nothing changed, only the lengt and the size) it still suckz and will not run. Could it be an error of the mp4box and the muxing routines?

Sorry, I spoke about idx/sub and added from list. I used to add two sub tracks from a large list (almost 20 subs). I checked the idx file, there are a lot of unused subs, for example :

... with no time stamp. I could erase them by hand, but I like to have the job done in a click (and I have a bunch of jobs queued).

this doesn't happen here... have you used the new CQ/CRF window? (even if you haven't encoded in cq mode)

I encode my first dvd-9 -> dvd5 in mp4. but the result size was 4.08gigs. what are the settings to try to get a size more accurate ?

I'm trying right now the option : Check %Comp and adjsut CRF .. but I didn't find documentation about them in the wiki.

I'll like to run a longer sample to estimate to bittrate to fit the size.

compression test and bitrate have nothing to spare

compression test is used to estimate the width/height that could guarantee a good quality

more compression test will lead to more accurate resize... not bitrate

the only variable for bitrate are lenght of movie, audio bitrate (or size) and disk settings

most probably you have saturated (basing on settings)
try analyzing your file with avinaptic (search in forum) and look at drf

the "Adjsut CRF " is to be used only for CRF/CQ encoding, on 2 pass encoding or 1 pass encoding is not to be used
