by command line isn't possible to tell to dgindex to index only a section

BUT you can manually build the d2v, trimming as you want, and feed automkv with your d2v file :)

Was just commenting on vOjToL's observation:
BTW, "elapsed time" is strange...

First of all thank you!

I have downloaded the special build, created the empty file "klicker4546" in the automkv folder and started it.

Here are two snapshots of the settings for the test run.

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/993/settings1vq6.th.jpg (http://img408.imageshack.us/my.php?image=settings1vq6.jpg)

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/6353/settings2to7.th.jpg (http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=settings2to7.jpg)

Everything went fine until BAutoDeint was starting. :-) An exception was thrown, but it did its job. Really strange, isn't it? (See image)

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2231/bautodeintcrashcp5.th.jpg (http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bautodeintcrashcp5.jpg)

I left the error message open until the BAutoDeint process finished, pushed the error message's OK button and automkv didn't do anything although it consumpted 99 % CPU power. It was irrespondive. And I closed the application finally.

This test was under XP, when I tested it under Vista in the details for the crash of BAutoDeint there was something about "unloading of xvidcore.dll" was not successful. If you want I post more details. I'm writing this under XP now and didn't made screenshots under Vista.

Edit: Anyway, I will post a screenshot of the crash under Vista. It might be helpful.

You see, so far no luck here on my side. :eek:

@klicker4546
... the change made to bautodeint launch make it near bulletproof.. but in your case.. seems not..

download this "special build" http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV090a-klicker4546.exe
and create an empty file named "klicker4546" (without quotes and extension) in automkv folder... then start this build and look at deinterlacer routines
NOW if crash is something on your pc

please report any problem

but for me elapsed time isn't "strange"...

something is going wrong on your side... try disinstalling xvid, remove xvdvfw.dll and xvidcore.dll form your windows\system32 folder
AND reinstall xvid

Ok, I will do.

But under Windows Vista I just installed Koepi's Xvid build 1.13 final, Avisynth 2.57 and ffdshow. I just installed Vista, so there haven't been previous installations of those.

I'm really confused now... What's the fu**ing problem? :confused:

xvidcore is used by bautodeint as yv12 decoder... ("problem unloading xvid...")

look at registry

and search for

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"VIDC.YV12"="xvidvfw.dll"

from my test xvidvfw or divx.dll are both good

Ok, now we are catching it! It's a problem regarding XVid. I used the Koepi 1.1.3 final version.

The xvidcore.dll you have in the automkv\encoder folder differs the one in my Windows\System32 folder. Yours is from 25.07.2007, mine in Windows\System32 folder is from 28.06.2007.

Where did you get that XVid-build from? Could you email it to me or upload somewhere?

I opened regedit and mades changes from:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"VIDC.YV12"="xvidvfw.dll"

to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"VIDC.YV12"="divx.dll".

Now everything is fine. OH MY GOD! I'm really happy now. Thank you a lot, especially for your ongoing patience regarding fixing it. It was a problem here and not automkv's or BAutoDeint's fault . :(

So I'm terribly sorry for bugging you over and over with it. So it was good that I ran also tests under Vista to get closer to resolve the problem.

@Mtz
no.. SAP is two passw BUT you have selected
18:50:32 Selected Resizer: HybridFuPP Anime LQ Source / Automatic
so automkv will do a 1 pass only (compression test) at CQ 2.5 for determine the WIDTH
After this pass automkv will do the 2 pass

about the error ..is due to ffmpeg.. please OR you remove from your system32 folder these dlls
avcodec-51.dll
avformat-51.dll
avutil-49.dll
postproc-51.dll
swscale-0.dll
OR you update these dll by coping the same dll from \exe\encoder folder to \windows\system32
OR you download from http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127037 the ffmpegsource 1.11 and unpack the rar to your system32

hope to be understud :)

Thanks for the new release buzzqw. Whats provides better quality when comparing WVC1_2_pass_better and WVC1_2_pass_best? I'm asking because WVC1_2_pass_better takes longer than the other setting and I'm assuming that longer encoding time means more complex algorithms and better quality output :)

Here is my timed results on a 60 second 720p mkv sample file. I got the times in the log file.
WVC1_2_pass_good = 7mins
WVC1_2_pass_fast = 12mins
WVC1_2_pass_best = 21mins
WVC1_2_pass_better = 26mins
WVC1_2_pass_insane = 36mins

FFmpeg.exe keeps crashing during the x264 encoding process of a 28GB transport stream file (1080p). Weird thing is it always crashes at around frame 210000 of the first pass (2 pass insane quality) or at around 12GB. I've tried 3 times now, already cost me 2 weeks worth of electricity/laptop use. I'm this close to just giving up on this whole encoding thing and deleting the source file.

Could this be due to the celeron 1.4Ghz in my laptop? I highly doubt it as it's a completely fresh WinXP installation.

I'd post a log file excerpt, except mine's 23MB and opening it crashes notepad.

First of all Welcome to the Forum!

the main problem is that ffmpeg SHOULD not be used for this conversion!

AutoMKV used ffmpeg only if x264.exe crash!

i suggest to post the log file, remember also to install avisynth 2.57, xvid (koepi build), and ffdshow, all link are in first post of this thread

I've tried out v0.90a at it still crashes when you try and encode x264 with show enc stats unselected.The application, E:\AutoMKV090_NORIP\AutoMKV090a.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 09/15/2007 @ 16:09:43.140 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 004B999B (AutoMKV090a)
I'm encoding the the same dvd that crashed v0.90a with xvid with show enc stats unselected and automkv doesn't crash.

i have tried 3 different dvd's

Hi Buzzqw,

when i said before that the automkv didn't crash using xvid, it actually did but very late in the first pass, not at the beginning like when using x264.

I've just gave your 0.90b build a try with the same dvd with xvid and it crashes straight away on the first pass.Faulting application automkv090b.exe, version 0.90.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000111de.

I am testing out x264 right now and i'll let you know if your fix works

I wonder if it's easier to just remove the option to unselect show enc stats?

EDIT, well Automkv crashed when encoding with x264, but time it was a silent crash, the error message in the event viewer was different aswell.
The application, E:\AutoMKV090_NORIP\AutoMKV090b.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 09/15/2007 @ 19:48:39.812 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C93426D (ntdll!RtlInitializeContext)

Thanks, and another thanks for the swift reply!
the main problem is that ffmpeg SHOULD not be used for this conversion!
Ah I see, I was starting to wonder if this:
BREAK ! FILE NOT SUPPORTED ! LAST TRY WITH FFMPEG!
...was normal, heh.

By the way, the crashes occurred with 0.89a, and I'm going to try 0.90b now. I hope Amed is right and x264.exe doesn't crash (though perhaps I'm going to try a smaller test file now instead of the whole 28GB .TS)
AutoMKV used ffmpeg only if x264.exe crash!

i suggest to post the log file, remember also to install avisynth 2.57, xvid (koepi build), and ffdshow, all link are in first post of this thread

BHH
Yeah I had all those installed. Btw which ffdshow build do you recommend using? The 2004 'original' one or one of the more recent builds?

Oh and one more question (sorry for my newbness :o); Should I enable anamorphic encoding in this case? The source TS file is 1920x1080, but I'm cropping it (70T 2R 4L 76B) to get rid of the black borders resulting in 1920x816 (it's one of those uber-widescreen films). If I understand correctly, anamorphic encoding just re-adds those same black bars to the encoded end-result I want to get rid of anyway, but I don't think I understand correctly :P

Again thanks for the instantaneous support ;)

Oh and if it's any use here is the 0.89a log file;

Though it doesn't explain anything to me, x264 just crashes and it moves on to ffmpeg (any way to disable ffmpeg altogether?)

the script and log seems ok

please open movie.avs in virtualdub, do you see any errors ?

the errors in encoding come as fast as x264 first pass is launched or after some times ?

about the anamorphic.. i suggest to use the preview button to adjust any anamorphic aspect you want :)

x264 crashed again with .90b, I'm guessing I should enable ProjectX in AutoMKV? (if the entire file is demuxed first, x264 shouldn't have a problem with it) Will that make the .TS file 'compatible' with x264? Only problem is I'll need to clear even more disk space (or will the 28GB ProjectX-demuxed file be deleted before encoding begins, or will I need 28GB free space + free space for the encoded end-result?)

Anyway, it seems like the file itself is not supported as input, I'll try the ProjectX switch in AutoMKV and see if it works then.

edit@buzzqw;

Well I just restarted the encode (it's currently doing it with ffmpeg again) but I'll end the encoding and open the file with vdub.
edit2: I interrupted the encode and opened the movie.avs file with vdub but it said it couldn't open the movie.d2v file - although that could be due to me interrupting the encode.

Virtually instantaneous, a second maybe. Right now I'm leaning towards the explanation that the .TS file I'm inputting isn't supported as input by x264.

Thanks will do that!

ni, the first work automkv do is to launch dgindex so you haven't interrupted this.

i think this could be the KEY

break ffmpeg and realunch and use projectx enabled

Well I tried doing it with ProjectX enabled, but the same thing happened; X264 launched for just a second, and then again (for the second pass), but then it said the same;

I don't understand why for example the preview function is able to read/play the file just fine (and the whole of AutoMKV for that matter) but x264.exe just rejects the .TS, even when ProjectX is enabled.

Is there anything I could do to the .TS file beforehand to make it more 'acceptable' to x264.exe?

Thanks for your time!

Hi, I have a strange problem which has persisted through versions 0.87, 0.88, 0.89 and now even 0.90! :confused:

I am trying to encode a short (20 minute) anime clip direct from a VOB file. Everything encodes fine.... but the audio is always out of sync. I'm assuming it's because there is a brief message at the start of the clip, without any sound, whereas in the encoded versions the sound starts right at the beginning of this message.

I've tried playing around with various interlacing options as well as disabling DelayCut. The log actually seems to show there is no audio delay (file names "...delay 0ms" and both original and adjusted audio track are the same length) but still, the de-sync won't go away.
Any suggestions as to what I can do? I've tried encoding both with x264/AAC and Xvid/MP3.

Thanks for any advice!
Mikity

open your vob file with dgindex

move the slider right till your video start, mark the start

now create your d2v and audio from this point

in automkv as input file use the d2v and the demuxed audio

This will give me a resultant movie without the silent message at the beginning, correct?

Thanks again.

But what if I want to keep the message at the beginning? Why is it so difficult?
Do you have any idea what could be happening?

Thanks, Mikity

try building a simple avs like this

directshowsource("c:\myfile.vob")

where myfile.vob is your vob file

then use this file as input for audio and video

Do you have any idea what could be happening?

bad muxing/bad ripping. and so dgindex is fouled about audio delay

hope better news !

this may have been asked before im still looking around. is there any advantage of having a dual core and encoding x264. is there anything i have to set or will it automatically utilize both core. i just got a opty 170 the other day havent done any encoding yet tho.

Look, I was too tired to make a constructive comment on why I liked StaxRip more. Overall, the program is great, only the interface is a bit too cluttered up (for me). Maybe if you were to split it all up into tabs, menus and windows... And I think most of those annoying message boxes you like to throw at start time should be removed to a more appropriate options window.

Hi,
in AutoMKV 0.90b if # of threads = 0
xvid_encraw say for my:
detected cpus=2
threads requested = 1
threads in use =1
the same happens if # of threads = 2
I believe that threads requested would have to be 2, but it seems to me that it is a problem of xvid_encraw, if # of threads = 3 threads requested, and in use is 2 :confused:

Note: sorry by my English, but I speak Spanish :D

Hi,
I think that anime_denoise.lvl is not OK, since it seems me that they deen (“c3d”, 1,3,4,2) uses the parameters of beta 2 and you (in AutoMKV) use beta 1, to be clear the second parameter = 1 in beta 2 talks about the soft matrix used for anime, but in beta 1 it is the radius is a low value for hard filtering. :confused:

somebody can correct it for deen beta 1

you cannot simply update deen to beta 2, since it uses different parameters that the beta 1 and HybridFuPP use deen beta 1.
to do is change to the parameters of deen in anime_denoise.lvl to the format of the beta 1… I I am doing it and testing :p

I'm trying to encode a vob file (from the ancient series "COMBAT")
When I analyze this vob with GSpot it reports back the video as Interlaced with Top Field First. But when I run "Test Deint" BAutoDeint says that the video is progressive.
Which one of those must I trust and continue with the encoding.
Thanx in advanse 4 all
