The movies encoded with new xvid_encraw.exe(-altpass2) are permanently undersized. I test it with many others resolution and bitrates, always 2pass average bitrate is less then bitrate set in command line and never rich it. It's looks like a bug in xvid_encraw?

That is an old post, so I don't really expect a direct response...

I was prompted by a discussion in the xvid forum to do a search across all of doom9 and came across that post. As the author of the 'altpass2' code, thought I'd point out a non-obvious change that might affect some users.

The altpass2 overflow control parameters are handled somewhat differantly.
In a nutshell:

1) If you used the value '0' for any overflow param replace it with '10'. '0' means 'turn off' in the altpass2 code, and means 'use default of 10' in the pass2 code.

2) And as a guideline, if you use 5/5/5 (encraw's built-in defaults) for overflow params, you might need to bump them up a little for some encodes with altpass2.

for more info and/or feedback, see vbv constraint vs undersize avoidance (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=118419&page=3)

@plugh

thanks for your work and information, actually in automkv profiles the -altpass2 is disabled but i will inform user

thanks a lot!

No problem. The thought hadn't occurred to me about tools layered on encraw (I use VDM and xvidvfw), so I did the search looking for reports.

Of course (as pointed out in that thread), you can still get 'undersized' files with altpass2 if making it larger would violate the vbv constraint (which is important for many SAPs). It is just a more subtle case of saturation.

So?? :D
I can download the exe right now and it will work?
Or the next version?

Another question. What happens if i import my personal profile from Megui to the program and use it?
It's compatibile? Or i have to do modifications?

buzzqw
9th September 2007, 18:52
you can download this build
http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV089a.exe

don't use this build if input is a ifo or a dvd to rip

the option is in advanced profile editing, just below show enc. stats

obviusly you must select an already 2 pass profile..

about megui profile: isn't compatible, i have added/changed several parameters
is easy to "translate" but you must do it or automkv will probably crash

Ok, i'm downloading and trying right now.
I have a suggestion.

Can you possibly make optional the initial warning on "Nero Audio Recode"? It appears to me every time i start the program.

Can you possibly make an option to auto-rember the status of all the controls?

I can find the variables you use in the profile in the manual?

Thanks

Can you possibly make optional the initial warning on "Nero Audio Recode"? It appears to me every time i start the program.

from changelog

0.79 19/03/2007 Full Package
ADDED: In next update if a file named "noneroAacEnc.here" is present in \exe\besweet folder , AutoMKV will not ask to download nero

Can you possibly make an option to auto-rember the status of all the controls

you can have 2 options

or hit save default settings or you can even do more settings tuned for different file
in advanced settings, at botton you save asve/load configuration, you can save several option files.
NOT al value are saved! , check please

I can find the variables you use in the profile in the manual?
no, but should be easy to understand
some are
<Width>false</Width> -> to force a width at start (used for ipod)
<Sar>false</Sar> -> to force a sar
<aq-strength>false</aq-strength> -> you know it
<aq-sensitivity>false</aq-sensitivity> -> you know it

I see.
I have tried to save to a different configuration and indeed some values are not saved.
I tried "Save default setting" but i can't find the button.
Where is it?

EDIT:
More, can i suggest to make it optional to open the double dialog request for the audio soundtrack?
and in this matter can you auto select the menu item to the audio track just added?

I tried "Save default setting" but i can't find the button.
it's "Save Setting" , just below Add to queue in main panel, but it save near the same options as save configuration

More, can i suggest to make it optional to open the double dialog request for the audio soundtrack?

just hit the ESC button at request..

can you auto select the menu item to the audio track just added
 i don't understud...

Yes, i know, but i'm quite "precise" in what a button does :)
Don't worry anyway just suggesting :)

i don't understud...
I mean that when i select an audio track (after the file dialog) in the dropdown menu below i see "NONE" when i'm expecting the audio i just selected.

EDIT:
If i use the "Disk Setting" feature i don't have to put the bitrate isn't it?
(sorry if these are pheraps Newbie question, but i'm starting using the program right now :))

I mean that when i select an audio track (after the file dialog) in the dropdown menu below i see "NONE" when i'm expecting the audio i just selected

that's happen only when selecting second audio track
i know it... but i prefer to leave it at none and let user select it if truly wanted

If i use the "Disk Setting" feature i don't have to put the bitrate isn't it?
yes! :)

OR you specify quality/bitrate or you use disk settings and so the bitrate is "computed" by application

remember that you can write waht you want in disk settings

if you write 56 you will got a final media size of 56MB
if you write 56 3 (3 in box at side) you will got 3 piece of 56MB each

sorry if these are pheraps Newbie question, but i'm starting using the program right now
as latin said "repetita iuvant" , so don't worry!

no... (but i will look at mkvmerge documentation)

yeah because in mkvmerge it seems to be possible the option should be, after selecting the sub, "Track Flag" and set it "off"??

but even using this, sometimes in different players, they are displayed anyway

You don't think that if i press the dialog button i *already* want it?

the bitrate is "computed" by application
Good :)

So a little (apparently strange request).
Because of Matroska doesn't support a "dummy" empty subtitles of his own (in other word if you have one subtitles you can't do anything to not enabling and hide it by default in the player) and you have to create an "Empty" sub file and put it as default, and because sometimes it happens to me to need two sub (and so three with the dummy i have to create), can you add a "third subtitle" section in wich i can add the dummy subfile too?

PS: I know it's quite asking, but i though if i had done 30 i could do 31 and obtain a final file :)
I can understand if you don't add this last :)

PPS: Oh you're talking of this right now, i hadn't seen :D

buzzqw
9th September 2007, 21:24
i have donw a little test ... if i add default-track:no for subtitle, on mpc with vobsub the subtitle aren't ON by default...

i will try to add the option

--threads auto

Mmm, i see, but don't you think it's better for the user to let him decide what's better for him?

On my system for example, setting --threads 4 gives visible better performance than setting it to --threads auto.

Hi,
I'm encode avi with xvid on AMD 64x2 4400, and the cpu usage is betwen 12 and 30 (simpleresize Removegrain(2)), but when close automkv the treath xvidencoderaw still active and the cpu use is betwen 60 and 70 ... I Know, i can kill the xvidencoderaw task, but the point is because what it apear go faster (more cpu usage) when i close automkv

Mi encode is slow a 50 min video take aroun 2 hour for pass, i dont know if ist a problem with windows, but I think cpu use of 30 is too low

:thanks:

Note: with h264 encode is fast 30 min for pass

I love this tool, really like the DPL II mix. (Best I can do till XBOX360 can take 5.1 aac audio do something like convert to DD 5.1)

Just trying to fix one thing:

How can I control the MAX video bitrate when encoding H.264 video? I have noticed that when I play back my video in Nero ShowTime shows a bitrate that can go as high as 15 mbps. This rate is too high for the XBOX360.

Any way to cap this a say 9 mbps?

Hello.

Thanks for this wonderful program!

I've searched this thread for information to no avail.

I'm using the latest AutoMKV v0.89.

What I have:
10 seconds VOB video file from a DVD.
1. The video is PAL (Progressive)
2. Video dimension is 720x576.
3. Its actual content is anamorphic @ 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

What I wish to have:
1. I wish to maintain the video's original 2.35:1 aspect ratio
2. No cropping to be made = leave the original black bars in the video.
3. Have it at a new containing "frame" dimension of 640x480 - obviously, the net video size inside this 640x480 "frame" will be 640x272 - this is what I wish for.

I've tried playing with "Anamorphic Encoding" / "Force ITU Resize" and their respective "PAR in XviD/X264" settings in all combinations as far as I remember.

All the settings I've tried have produced either a stretched video, making it non-cropped @ 640x480 or an extended width video - while retaining its 480 height dimension.

Thank you very much for your help

I Know, i can kill the xvidencoderaw task, but the point is because what it apear go faster (more cpu usage) when i close automkv
killing automkv will not kill xvid_encraw, because the thread is already started

you can "suppress" the encoding window information by de-select in advanced profile editing the option "Show Enc. Stat" with will surely made faster xvid_encraw

in next update will be present a new xvid_encraw optimized for multicore processor :)

@jntaylor63
How can I control the MAX video bitrate when encoding H.264 video?

you have 2 options
or you open with notepad the profile and seek for <VBVMaxBitrate> and change the value to 9000000 like so <VBVMaxBitrate>9000000</VBVMaxBitrate>
or in automkv in advanced profile editing you edit the profile AND THEN check "Use this profile"

@samuelal
i must say i am not an expert of this area.. sorry.. but i can suggest to use the "preview" button for making all adjustment, and use the "preview resized" for checking the result
even more you can use in advanced setting the "force mux w*h" and write here 640 272

@AMED
that's strange since the autoresize was done succesfully
could be possible that you have played with settings while automkv was running and encoding ?

Try using the trim function in preview. Itīs on the "Advanced Settings" tab.

buzzqw
13th September 2007, 08:03
the trim in preview panel is for cutting last part of video

you can also use the "Last line avs script" and write Trim(1500,5000) ... for example

Update 0.90!

please referr to first post for download link

0.90 Full Package 13/09/2007
ADDED: PGCDemux and DvdDecrypter support. Reworked how episodic dvd is engaged.
1) FIRST CASE: WORKING WITH DVD TO RIP
the ripping will be done by dvddecrypter, in case of "difficult" ripping i suggest to use ripit4me or dvdfabdecrypter (after this you can mount the iso to simulate "dvd to rip")
On PGC list select your pgc (episode) and DVDDecrypter will rip only this pgc
2) SECOND CASE: WORKING ON DVD ALREADY RIPPED (laying on hd)
If selected the first pgc, dgindex will start directly, else PGCDemux will "demux" the selected pgc and this will be used for encoding
Don't strip audio from dvd or dgindex will be fouled when demuxing audio tracks!
ADDED: CFilter folder in \exe folder. In this folder put plugin that need LoadCPlugin (like yadif)
ADDED: VirtualDubPlugins in \exe folder. In this folder put VirtualDub plugins that want to load (example DeLogo.vdf). The filter will be loaded as this (for example) LoadVirtualDubPlugin("c:\VirtualDub-1_4_10\plugins\delogo.vdf","delogo"), attention to filter name "delogo". The filter name is based on plugin name!. So if plugin is called "awesome_deinterlacer.vdf" the filter will de called "awesome_deinterlacer". To use DeLogo plugin (and other virtualdub plugins) remember to converto rgb32 before. like this ConvertToRGB32.delogo(1, "500-999", "D:/2.bmp", "D:/2.bmp", "D:/1.bmp", "D:/2.bmp", 34, 56, 0,0).ConvertToyv12(interlaced=true) , apply this string to Last line avs string or base.avs
ADDED: If .chunks is present in original folder, before launching VSrip these file will be deleted (suggestion by vOjToL)
ADDED: In Xvid Status encoding the total time estimated and % of worked frames (suggestion by connex)
ADDED: Even in xvid 2 pass encoding the average bitrate is displayed in window
ADDED: FFmpegSource to queue saving
ADDED: DGDecode_Deblock in Advanced Profile Editing
ADDED: More X264 profiles, made by Kurtnoise13 PD_Apple_iPhone.xml,PD_Apple_TV.xml,PD-ATV.xml,PD-iPhone.xml,PD-Archos605.xml
ADDED: MVDegrain1
ADDED: MP4 as allowed audio input (suggestion by tha_reaper)
ADDED: In X264 encoding window the bitrate (suggestion by bleedingum)
ADDED: In Advanced Audio Options the possibility to encode with SoundOut with OGG/FLAC/WAV Extended/MP2
ADDED: In log the use of Specify Quality and Specify Bitrate
ADDED: Workaround for "Field Order Transition Detected" on Dgindex. The d2v is now checked against TFM and if movie-fixed.d2v is generated, then AutoMKV will use it
ADDED: Check , in Advanced profile editing, for allowing third pass with x264 (suggestion by 3ngel)
ADDED: In Advanced Settings "Hide Subs". This option is to use only for mkv container and will force player to not show subtitle
ADDED: Option to force first pass with the same value as second pass. Check "HQ first pass" in Advanced profile editing (suggestion by 3ngel)
ADDED: XviD_Sap_Scure to use for SAP compatibility when dealing with high compressibility source
FIXED: Using preview with d2v with HD movie (thanks to bisdelf)
FIXED: Spelling (thanks to InorganicMatter)
FIXED: X264 profile and use of deadzone-intra/inter (thanks to peter_h)
FIXED: Using the preview without filter enabled (thanks to edwardt)
FIXED: Missing parsing of Width parameter for x264 profiles
FIXED: No more need to copy ffmpeg libraries, libsndfile-1.dll or fftw3.dll in \windows\system32. Anyway is always preferred to copy these dll.
FIXED: AutoMKV will wrongly apply TFM/TDecimate on avi input. (thanks to AC84)
FIXED: In 2 pass encoding the default subme for first pass is now 2, look here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1035385#post1035385

thanks buzz,

I was wondering if the new Apple profiles for the apple tv and ipod will actually play on the apple tv? Strange question but I remember something a few months ago that they wouldn't; something about a package problem I think.

I'm still having crashing problems if the show enc stats is unchecked. I tried v0.90 out on my work computer running vista (previously is was using my home computer running XP SP2) and here is the crash log that happens a few seconds into the first pass of the encode.

update 0.90a

FIXED: Keyboard shortcut form HCEnc/Avs2Avi (previusly could break some games.. like PES6 when played at in windowed mode)
FIXED: Better thread optimizations

i have worked on how threads (encoding and windows) are collaborating. In this build i have re-enabled by default the encoding status windows.
On XviD encoding, with encoding status window, the speed are over +15% and some point % for x264

I suggest all to update to this build

Hi buzzqw!
Something is wrong with the new xvid_profile_balanced(maybe with the others profiles too)
Look at this:

new profile/old profile

http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/3880/profile2ro4.jpg
and this:

http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/8457/profileuc1.jpg

Average bitrate firstpass
new profile ~7000kbps
old profile ~1700kbps
Average movie bitrate: 1044kbps

the change made should bring more quality to 2 pass profile...

here is the old profile pack http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV_profiles089.rar

but.. it's strange!

could you do some test with other source too ?

thanks!

From memory, since I've been using AutoMKV the reported elapsed time has always only ever been the time taken for the second pass. So while "strange" or of dubious value it's not a new development.

I've just tried to run another encoding job and it seems to me that the problem is not fixed yet!

BAutoDeint is still crashing here for me! Ran tests under Windows XP and also on a fresh Vista installation.

What is it????

Maybe buzzqw can tell us a little more on that issue.

Also their was that problem with BAutoDeInt.exe errors. Were those fixed?

@vOjToL
it happen when using autoresize fuction.. and autoresize decide that source need less b frames..

BUT the "decision" is taken to next encoding too...

fixed in next update!

@zacoz
i don't fully understand... are you speaking with me ?

@klicker4546
... the change made to bautodeint launch make it near bulletproof.. but in your case.. seems not..

download this "special build" http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV090a-klicker4546.exe
and create an empty file named "klicker4546" (without quotes and extension) in automkv folder... then start this build and look at deinterlacer routines
NOW if crash is something on your pc

please report any problem

you can also use the "Last line avs script" and write Trim(1500,5000) ... for example

Thanks for the reply. It works!! (although it takes a long time to build index before encoding.) If this function can be implemented in DGIndex step, it could be much faster - I guess.
