19:36:58 FFmpeg Encoding Audio: "D:\AutoMKV091_NORIP\exe\BeSweet\ffmpeg.exe" -vn -i "D:\temp\fixed1.ac3" -f mp3 -ac 2 -ab 128 "D:\temp\audio.mp3"
19:36:58 Unable to encode Audio even with DirectShowSource and FFmpeg!
are you sure that fixed.ac3 is playable ? it's quite strange that even ffmpeg is unable to encode it!
@murrsturr
movie = mpeg2source("D:\mcbob test\temp\movie.d2v")
function getOrder(clip c) {
order = GetParity(c) ? 1 : 0
Return order }
MCBob()
here the culprit, you are calling mcbob... but source is movie...
so write in deinterlacer movie=MCBob(movie)

Appreciate this buzzqw. Am about to leave on 3 day business trip, so won't be able to test straight away. Not that I don't think it will work of course. :thanks:

This is a follow up to my first post quoted below. I've just tried an MKV encode with AutoMKV 0.91 and the problem persists. I've tried with both AAC (using two different versions of neroaacenc) and MP3 and both produce problems (re-encoding of AC3 stream always falls back to ffmpeg). Now at least finished MKV files are being output, but the resolutions are wrong and the playback choppy. I'll post the AAC-MKV encode log first, followed by the MP3-MKV encode. Hopefully someone can spot what's wrong! Thanks again --

Original Post:
Hi all,
I've had success encoding x264/aac .MKV movies from DVD source files with past versions (0.89) but success has been patchy (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!). Will try 0.91 soon, but thought I'd try and figure out what's going on anyways:
I'm using Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and considering I've successfully encoded in the past, that doesn't seem to be the problem. Encoding audio with neroaacenc.exe seems to be problematic - the encoding process breaks down before the video encoding stage. I'll post the a sample .log file so that people that know much more than I do about AutoMKV can spot the problem :-)
CPU: Core Duo T2400 / RAM: 1526Mb
Thanks!!

This is the same problem I have seen. Install "Haali Media Splitter " and see if you have the same problem.
Yep, I installed Haali Media Splitter and still got the problem. The thing is, AutoMKV 0.90c used to work perfectly. Possibly before I upgrade my K-Lite Codec Pack to 3.50 (previously it was 3.30 and may have worked with AutoMKV).
Now I uninstalled EVERYTHING: K-Lite Codec Pack, AVISynth, ffdshow, Koepi XviD, and reinstalled AutoMKV 0.90c, AVISynth 2.5.7, ffdshow b3 r1324, Koepi XviD 1.1.3 final. Trying again, but this time WITHOUT K-Lite Codec Pack installed..... crap! ... I still get the bautodeint.exe error.

buzzqw: I change the <BQuantOffset> to 100 and still my xvid files are 50%-60% larger than when I do them with autogk, avi.net and StaxRip. I am using cq quantizer of 3.0.

the other thing I did was uninstall avisynth and install the correct version again.

Currently am on 2nd pass... so it's looking good so far. I installed K-Lite Codec Pack 3.30 (the first version that I remember worked with AutoMKV).
Will let you know...
PS: K-Lite Codec Pack contains AVISynth, ffdshow, Xvid, already, so not sure whether it's good/bad.

I still can't encode the audio. Yes, the fixed ac3 audio is playable. For more info, I don't have avisynth installed if that matters. I do have the ogg codec installed though, both the video and audio.

Hi all,
I wanted to reencode an avi file, I got the expected size 200MB.
I set up this value, but the result was 200MB+the size of the audio stream.
(Should I always know, how big will be the audio??)
What made I wrong?
:thanks:

yea.. i am adding A.I. to AutoMKV ;)
I got this file in the target dir:

that's not correct, are you able to replicate and tell me how ? THANKS!
@BobGray
First of all Welcome to the Forum!
automkv take in account audio when computing size.
Can you post the log ?

Currently am on 2nd pass... so it's looking good so far. I installed K-Lite Codec Pack 3.30 (the first version that I remember worked with AutoMKV).
Will let you know...
PS: K-Lite Codec Pack contains AVISynth, ffdshow, Xvid, already, so not sure whether it's good/bad.
Apparently it worked! K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.30 + AutoMKV 0.90c solved the BAutoDeint.exe (The instruction at "0X027d1468" referenced memory at "0x027d1468". The memory could not be "read".) problem. I was able to encode a couple more videos 100% with no problem.
Then a new error sprang up (on a different video file):
VirtualDub Program Failure
Oops -- virtualDub has crashed. Details are listed below which may help you pinpoint the problem. If a third party driver is implicated, try using another driver and see if the problem goes away. For reproducible problems in VirtualDub itself, use "Save..." and email the problem report to <phaeron@virtualdub.org> along with a description of what you were doing.
Crash details (best guess as to cause)
An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'SoundOut'.
Please see attachment for more details:

I just checked, K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.30 (old version) actually contains nearly the same versions of the recommend ffdshow, Xvid, etc. that you state/linked to on your first/front page post, your linked versions in brackets:
Xvid 1.1.3 (1.1.3)
ffdshow r1371 (r1324)
So AutoMKV 0.90c worked better.
Whilst the latest version of the codec pack has Xvid 1.2.0 & ffdshow 1576, which never worked with AutoMKV.

After nero finish the job and x264 build fame.txt (x264 crash everytime in this step but make the file with a few lines), automkv make the 2 .bat files for 2pass x264 and start the first pass, but AutoMKV exits without message and the last log line is:

simplekid : 1st, welcome to doom9. Let's hope you have a good time here.
2nd, would you mind giving us more details about what source video's AutoMKV chokes on ? Maybe try uploading a sample somewhere and posting the logfile for everyone to have a look at ? Chances are some of your DVD's/video's have something particular that hasn't been handled correctly yet. It's just the sort of thing that happens. If you're kind enough to provide some info that would help track the problem down faster, everyone will be able to profit from it :)

Hello,
what is the correct setting of AutoMKV to encode a whole disc separated by its PGCs ? Is there a chapter-setting or PGC-setting ? So at the end there are as many files (MKVs) as there are PGCs or Chapters on the disc ?

I miss that. The source file AVS script with MPEG2Source filter from a VOB. Audio file is AC3 2.0

Hi guys,
After trying a bunch more stuff, including uninstalling all codec packs and trying different codec packs, I'm still running into the same problem: audio and video encoding is falling back to using ffmpeg and ffmpegsource. I'm not sure why!
I'm using 0.91b under Vista x86 (Core Duo T2400, 1536Mb RAM) and have tried encoding with no codec packs installed, then the latest CCCP release, then with the latest k-Lite pack.
I've played fixed.ac3 and there seems to be no problems with it.
To save time I've been testing with a smaller (300Mb) VOB file from a larger IFO DVD rip. I ran into the same problems attempting to encode the full IFO rip.
The following log lines may shed some light on the issue, but I'll post the full log separately as well.

I just start a job with 0.91c and I still have the same problem reported here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1063044#post1063044
After create a new job and put in queue when start the queue after the first x264 call to build frame.txt (Why do you need this?) AutoMKV start the x264 first pass and exits without any message. X264 is running in my computer but AutoMKV not. Here is my automkv.ini:

I use Nero AAC with Advanced Audio Options:
Track Language: eng
Nero Options
- Profiles: LC
- Encoding Mode: -CBR
Global Audio Options
- Normalize Audio (CHECKED)
- Frequency: 48000
(everything else default)
Do you know any other options in the command-line other than these above that are used in AutoMKV?
Can you tell me the command-line that would be generated from the above options please.

Hi guys,
After trying a bunch more stuff, including uninstalling all codec packs and trying different codec packs, I'm still running into the same problem: audio and video encoding is falling back to using ffmpeg and ffmpegsource. I'm not sure why!
I'm using 0.91b under Vista x86 (Core Duo T2400, 1536Mb RAM) and have tried encoding with no codec packs installed, then the latest CCCP release, then with the latest k-Lite pack.
I've been having the same problem with Vista and AutoMKV falling back to using ffmpeg and ffmpegsource which causes Automkv to crash. When loading movie.avs in VirtualDub, it will crash VirtualDub also.

... try adding a convert to yv12 to end of your script
frame.txt is used for extracting information
.. is your avs file playable in virtualdub ?
since is x264 that's break encoding ... try encoding your file with x264
and tell me any errors

Due to delays in attachments being approved by moderators, it's generally better to paste log into body of the message - between CODE tags (e.g. as acrespo has done). Note that you may have to split it across two posts sometimes.

Just a newbie question, but how can you add your ows Avisynth lines before the encoding ?
Also, Is SimpleResize a good resizer for DVD -> 700MB AVI ?

I don't have any problems when encoding with MeGui or AutoMKV 0.90. This problem have introducing in 0.91 but I have the problem with crash x264 during frame.txt creation since the first version of AutoMKV I tried (i guess it was 0.87).
When AutoMKV exits without message, x264 already started and run the first pass and finish. If I start the second .bat x264 start the second pass and create the final raw file and I can create the final MP4 with YAMB and MP4Box.

I've been playing around with this cool program just since two days. I compress VOB's to x264 / MKV files, and using two audio streams (uncompressed).
Sometimes Automkv091c would just finish and I'd have a file, or there would be only a partial file. I never understood why.
Now I just looked while the 2nd pass was being processed (65% done), and Automkv091c.exe had 1 Gb (!) of memory in use acc. to task manager! And every second 16 kb would be added to it. Then for some reason x264.exe would die away, automkv091c.exe is still in memory but doesn't react to input anymore - I had to kill the process manually.

@avdw
yes. since you downscale , simpleresize is a good choice!
@MichaelAnders
first of all Welcome to the Forum!
is your input file an avi/mov/mkv... or mpeg4 in generis ?

@buzzqw: Thanks :)
The input file is the DVDs (MPEG-2) ".ifo" file. Output file was x264 in an MKV container ("2_pass_extreme_quality").
Now I just had it running over night with "2_pass_better_quality", and there was no problem. AutoMKV091c.exe was at 140 Mb right now after the complete process was finished.
I don't know if it's really related to the quality that I chose, it could just be a bug that occurs sometimes as well... But if it does it's nasty ;)
I still have tons (120?) DVDs to convert, so if you want me to try some special build of automkv to find the issue: I'd be more than happy to!

found the leaky
it's the encoding window!, the xvid/x264 display of encoding stats
temporary i suggest to de-check in advanced profiles editing "Show Enc. Stats"
i will look at this issue ..but ... i haven't big ideas... :(

AutoMKV suffers from the same problem as AutoGK, cutting of movie contents horizontally.
Only 2 frontends keep them intact : avi.NET & StaxRip.
