this doesn't happen here... have you used the new CQ/CRF window? (even if you haven't encoded in cq mode)
I dont know what is "new CQ/CRF window" mean , but after deleting automkv.ini file, I create the new one and problem with segmented avi not happened nevermore :)
Fixed!
REDOWNLOAD this www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV087a.exe
:thanks: Its working!

EUREKA!
@jefrey
download from here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127037 this package http://ivtc.org/new/FFmpegSource.rar
put FFMpegSource.dll in \exe\filter folder
AND all the others file in your \windows\system32 folder (it's safe!)
download this build of automkv 0.87b (http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV087b.exe)
start it, load your file, IN ADVANCED SETTINGS SET (near ffmpeg encoding - sourcing) set USE FFMPEGSOURCE, set the manual crop as you want
--- ---- DON'T USE AUTOCROP !!!!!!!!!! - -- - -- or it will break again!!! (or filter that seek fast)
set codec video/audio .. and ENCODE!!!
keep me informed

ok i will try it :)
autocrop<--- i didnt use that,
jefrey
17th July 2007, 15:30
ok it runs, set USE FFMPEGSOURCE, <--what have i to take in the dropdown menü ? "none" or x264 high...? nothing just set the option under the dropdown menü, right?
buzzqw
17th July 2007, 15:37
set only "use ffmpeg source" leave NONE to FFMPEG!!!

compression test and bitrate have nothing to spare
compression test is used to estimate the width/height that could guarantee a good quality
so that' use for autocrop ? If enter the size manually I should uncheck "Use CRF for autosize routine" ?
the only variable for bitrate are lenght of movie, audio bitrate (or size) and disk settings
most probably you have saturated (basing on settings)
try analyzing your file with avinaptic (search in forum) and look at drf
I'll try avinaptic tonight. It's working on Windows2000 at my job :(
So, if I understand, the bitrate is calculated from the movie length.. and you don't do a pass to see how the movie is encoded with a sample.
I don't remember, but there were few divx converter that I use long time ago , and they were encoding a sample like 20% of the movie and calculted the result file size to see if it's smaller than anticipated, if so.. th bitrate was adjusted.

ok automkv is running:)

@survivant
so that' use for autocrop ? If enter the size manually I should uncheck "Use CRF for autosize routine
autocrop is for ... auto crop!
autoresize (Automatic on Width) is for auto resize!
when you leave automatic on width, automkv will use the CRF for autoresize (not autosize!!!).
It will do and encoding at max quality of a sample being 5% of full movie. Based on size of this sample automkv will calculate the proportion for a good resize (width/height)
If you disable "Use CRF for autoresize" automkv will again do the autoresize routine BUT encoding in simple bitrate mode, not on quality mode (much preferred)
nd they were encoding a sample like 20% of the movie and calculted the result file size to see if it's smaller than anticipated
this is useful only for pure quality encoding where the final size is unknow (features supported by automkv)
if so.. th bitrate was adjusted.
again ... the bitrate is fixed , ever! having xx minutes long movie, having zz file audio (or audio bitrate) there is a formula to compute the bitrate.
Why encoding a sample would modify the bitrate computed ? (well there would be some reason.. but is too technical :) )

Why encoding a sample would modify the bitrate computed ? (well there would be some reason.. but is too technical :) )
I'll try to find some documentation about that, when I 'll have too much free time :)
but the principle is basic. if your movie is 1h15 and your target size is XXX. you can calculate the bitrate needed..
but that suppose that the movie will be encoded at a fixed size for a frame, but something a frame can be more easily compressed than the previous. (maybe x264 don't use something like VBR in the encode process.. don't know)
it's like images. You can have 2 images with the same WxH, but the images compressed won't be the same size. So If an image could be compressed more you could increase the quality for this image and have the same size of the other.
Is what I thought.. maybe it's not that easy in movie encoding.
If I refers again, to programs that I use before, they were able to get few kbs near the target size.
I remember now that it had a setting, in the end of the movie, the program could increase the compression to be able to fit in the target size..

@jefrey
ok... now that's is proven to work
it's time to fix (obviusly the first build was fulled of bugs!)
http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV087c.exe
fixed the framerate always 30 (bugs of ffmpegsource)
fixed the deinterlacer routines (with ffmpegsource)
fixed the movielenght (with ffmpegsource)

oh new one :) my automkv encode will be ready in 2hours (its now the 2nd pass) then i can tell you more
buzzqw
17th July 2007, 19:11
glad that first pass was done succesfully!
most important is audio/video syncronization, check it with attention
the 0.87c should be more reliable on synch
when finished tell me about and what build you used
hope that help

so, finally the file is ready and the size of it is 1,9 gb instead of 4.2 gb why/what goes wrong.
file is on the way to the ps3
jefrey
17th July 2007, 21:00
mp4 works, but the audio doesnt match and the size of the file doesnt match too, 2 gig instead of 4.3
i've used automkv 087b

Add a new button : Encode.
I had to cancel the encoding process with X reasons. If I just want to start to encode I have to start it again. It take a long time to rid the subs, convert the audio.. all that before the start process.. I want to start again from that point..

How estimate the bitrate ?
I try the bitrate calculator from megui.
movie length : 1h30
b frame activated
audio track : 588 megs (AAC)
fps=23.976
target : DVD-5
Average bitrate : 6042
in the command line from automk is 5996
how the bitrate is calculated in automkv ?

Well, it's been a while since I've posted, and I'm glad to see how much progress appears to have been made on AutoMKV.
Good Job Buzzqw!
I'm on a new box, with a fresh install of Vista now and I've just installed AutoMKV (had to install Win-rar, just for it :p).
running AutoMKV the first thing it does is tp tell me:
"libsndfile-1.dll must be in your C:\Windows\system32\ folder, otherwise wouldn't possible to encode audio! Can i copy to C:\Windows\system32\ ?"
Now, I love AutoMKV as much as the next guy, but I don't like it strewing files about
1) When there is no uninstall that will remove them.
2) When I don't really know what the file is from, and why it needs to be a specific spot.
Doing some searching I find that it's from BeSweet, so I'm curious now. Why does it need to be in System32?
edit:
I see that this was added on 3/22/07 in version .78, http://automkv.wiki-site.com/index.php/Changelog for the new SoundOut that replaced the usage of the .NET framework.... hmm....
I still don't like random files being thrown about... what to do, what to do.

I still don't like random files being thrown about... what to do, what to do.
Does vista still have a system32 folder?
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. It's perfectly safe and it's not gonna make your computer explode :) (plus it only gets use when it's called for so it's not like it's always loaded or taking up ram.
It's probably a dll file <1mb and it's probably used by a few programs so throw it in there and get some use out of it :)
Wasn't sure if AutoMKV worked on Vista. Hmm, I guess it does (if you have the right dll's ;))
And I wouldn't call it random files being thrown about either. If you want to see random files you should come over and have a look at my computer. I probably have the same file in 5 different places. It's a file that you need for a program. Whats so different about it compared to say something needed for a windows program. (like directx for games).

Yes, Vista has a System32 folder.
My concern is that there is no removal process, in addition, nothing to indicate that it is used by AutoMKV due to the details on the file being blank.
Every other program I install, at least attempts (though not always successfully) to remove it's own files on uninstall.
Every other program I download and unzip does not require me to manually place files in the OS folders.
This is not a normal process.
In addition, a bit of research shows that winamp uses this file too, but without requiring it be in the \\windows\System32\ folder. Doing something similar would be nice.
TheRyuu
18th July 2007, 06:24
It's a standard library (lib) file.
Looks at your standard windows system32 folder. It's full of them. There's probably 100+ in mine. Loads of programs use them. I guess I just don't understand why someone would hesitate like you are. :p
Obviously automkv needs it. Why not just put it in there.
I guess there's no convincing you eh?
Look at it this way, AutoMKV is probably a program you'll have on there till you probably have to reformat again. So the file will always get use.

simply launch, in temp folder, the bat for encoding

You have saturated! Better quality is only lossless
Average bitrate : 6042

yes, you got me... i use 1% less of bitrate for sanity pourpose
just for do not oversizing (1%...)
@Shark_jlc @wizboy11
i like you boy! there are always something that could be better... AND from next release neither libsndfile-1.dll or fftw3.dll or all library needed to ffmpegsource will be need to put in systems folder!
the avs script will be ok on automkv, BUT if open in virtualdub (after extiting automkv...) will throw errors

Is there a way for the user to specify the CPU parameter in the mpeg2source filter? like mpeg2source(cpu=4) for full pre process deblocking and mpeg2source(cpu=6) for full pre process deblocking and deringing?
If i add those to the filter area, i get errors

Can yo explain what that mean please. qpmin=10, is it a good thing or not ?
I open a few other x264 rips and saw Max DRF : 25. Which is better ?
I wasn't able to find documentation telling was best and why the qpmin=10.. if it gives better quality.. can we put qpmin=1 ?

Every other program I install, at least attempts (though not always successfully) to remove it's own files on uninstall.
I've come across many a program that purports to have completely uninstalled itself but doesn't even attempt to remove the .dll's it's inserted into the systems folders - even in cases when they are clearly program specific and would never be used by other programs.
The beauty of many programs around here at doom9 is the author's respect of your desire to know what's going where.
And even better still are Buzzqw's lightning fast feedback reflexes
OT Frustration venting:
After 14 hours of encoding I've just been confronted with "22:07:44 Final Muxed size: -1 bytes" and of course stupid me had delete temp folder ticked and shutdown on completion selected. Of course this happened when I was out of the room so don't know what actually happened  Guess I'll download 0.87c and start again.

too bad, because those values are by far the best way to dering and deblock your source because it all happens before any actual encoding took place. Not a single filter can match that. I dont know what a combobox is, but you could make a preprocessing part where the user can chose radiobuttons none (no cpu= value), Deblocking (CPU=4) and Full deblocking and Deringing (CPU=6). other values you dont need...
if its not possible, then i think its possible for me to edit the movie.avs file in case i really need some deblocking or deringing.

Something else was at play as from the log "Only Movie Size: 1193537532 bytes" so was under 2GB, and the *.mkv file wasn't actually created. The log also terminated early as can be seen below. I had aborted an earlier encode and not restarted AutoMKV so it's possible the problem was located between the chair and the keyboard.
And if that's not enough, explorer has been touchy lately - time for a clean reinstall - when I make the time.

Try encoding normally.
Then go in the temp folder and take out the movie.avi. Put it somewhere else.
Download besweet (http://besweet.notrace.dk/), then belight (http://coreforge.org/projects/belight/). Put belight in besweet folder. Select the audio from the temp folder. Encode in mp2.
Download Virtual Dub Mod (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_All_inclusive.zip?use_mirror=superb-east) and patch (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_b2542.zip?use_mirror=superb-east) (put patch into original Virtual Dub Mod folder and overwrite). Open up movie.avi you took out. Then go to Streams->Stream List and you should be able to add the mp2 file from there. Just make sure that under "Video" that it is selected to "Direct Stream Copy".
That way all your really doing is muxing them together.
The movie.avi file shouldn't have any audio streams in it already. If it does, I guess just delete it and replace with mp2 file you encoded.
Simple stuff really :)
Good luck.

I did some test with mp4 box. Indeed mp4bnox is adding all subs, not only the one with timestamps.
No problem with mkv.
I did ask on mp4 forum.
thanks

requested feature : TRIM
I'll like to cut the end of the movie like :generic(term in french) or the preview at the start.

As a side note, you can also manually open it in dgindex (if it's a vob file) and use that to trim it. Then just save it as a d2v and it should also demux the audio too.
Then just select the d2v and audio from automkv. And then you'd have a trimmed movie.

TRIM
@buzzqw: should it be possible to obtain (a sort of) that using a trim() inside Last Line AVS Script IF used in mkvmaudio.avs, too?

On my fresh vista box, I let AutoMKV copy the 2 files it wanted into my system32 folder.
I then tried to create a wmv file from a ripped cartoon DVD.
The status bar has been at : "Preprocessing audio to WAV for feeding Windows Media Encoder - Frist Normalizing Audio... wait" for over an hour.
I'm guessing that I need the Windows Media Encoder software installed, and that AutoMKV did not check for it?
Edit:
I've since installed it and things have progressed further.
My suggestion would be to have AutoMKV check for the Encoder, and if it's not present, do not give me any WMV options... or something :)

so i'm back again, also the mp4 doesnt work on the computer and the ps3 too.
my last try now, can you make an ps3 profile that have only that commandlines for the encoding?(because, by the spell from a guy, his , also this settings/commandline and x264 works perfekt with his ps3 and dvd9 DVDR)
--pass 1 --stats "E:\Temporär\.stats" --bitrate 10000 --sar 1:1 -A all --aud --level 4.1 --ref 3 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --direct auto --analyse none --me dia --subme 1 --threads 1 --progress --output Null "D:\Scripte\Video_720.avs"

So I had a crash in cscript.exe, and installed the WME hotfix for Vista.
Upon restarting AutoMKV, it asked to copy those 2 files to \Windows\System32\ again (Running it, a 3rd time, as Administrator actually copied the files, and opening AutoMKV, now a 4th time :), these pop-ups are gone.)
I then tried to encode my movie, twice (once running as Administrator), and while everything went smoothly, the actual encode window merely flashed on the screen and did nothing, and I have no wmv file.
