buzzqw does AutoMKV support anamorphic encoding into MP4 ?
As it only seems to work if I use the MKV container in AutoMKV but MeGUI does it for MP4 + MKV.
:thanks:

the anamorphic encoding is done with the avisynth script and by the par signal
i suggest to force the par signal in advanced settings

so you cannot ear audio ...
even in media player classic...
a lot strange since is a wav file...
have you other audio decoder beside ffdshow ? (like ac3filter...)
BHH
I can only play the wav file from the temp folder with winamp.
Media player classic and virtual dub will not play it.
When I try to play it in virtual dub the error says "it cannot detect the file type"
Audiograbber can't convert it,neither can Easy CD-DA Extractor.
It seems that the wav file that was created in the temp folder isn't a true wav I guess.
Yes I do have ac3 filter.
I have ffdshow installed also but do I need to configure it?
There are alot of settings for it.:confused:

Out of curiosity, why do you use the Color Matrix script that you use?
"Rec.709->Rec.601",
Why not "Rec.601->Rec.709"?
Isn't the latter (601->709) suppose to be the one used when you convert a DVD to a mpeg4 file?
Just wondering. I suppose I should have asked way back when I suggested the "no color matrix" thing, but to be honest I really had no idea what each color matrix script did. :p :)
BTW, I like the preview file thing. Nice feature. A tad sluggish though when a video is playing. What about an option to hear the audio during playback too (even though it really wouldn't matter) :p

I don't know if there is any point... you wouldn't be 'cropping' or otherwise making any changes in realtime that would be in any way observable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observable).

I had initially tried that but with bad results as the video was stretched to the wrong proportions and not at all like the MeGUI version.
After more testing today I eventually realised I had to use the manual resize/crop option (no automatic/autocrop) then forcing the ITU resize to 16:9 PAL gets me similar results to MeGUI, so it seems to be working out now.

Great shot, though the AutoMKV version could do with a little more cropping on the left... and you are probably aware of the 'save image' and 'save thumbnail' option in Media Player classic'... VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) has the option to save a (lossless) PNG snapshot which can be usefull for fine detail comparisons...
It could also help with your DAR calculations... according to SeeMoreDigital and Aspect Ratio Signalling (ARS) Calculation Tool (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=107039) ...

After encoding a test episode of a TV show DVD set I've ripped off my discs (in individual episodes folders) then queuing up all the episodes to run overnight, I've encountered a problem.
I'm telling AutoMKV to make a MP4 file, fixed file size, yadda yada. The video encoded perfectly, and the FIRST time, the audio too. I am using the Nero AAC codec. The episode I did manually generated a 15 MB .MP4 file which sounds perfect, and it integrated into the final video file just fine.
The second one (the first in the queue of 22 more episodes) did a perfect job yet again for video, but the audio is now only an 880 kb file!! I can re-run the .bat file for mkvmaudio and it regenerates exactly the same tiny file every time with no errors. I've checked the "fixed1.ac3" file that it's reading from, and it sounds perfect in VLC. Does anyone know what the heck is going on here?
I've tried opening the mkvmaudio.avs file in Media Player and/or VirtualDub, but all it seems to do is start the encoding again (launching AVISynth!) and plays nothing except a loud 'snap' at the beginning for the ~22 minutes of the audio file.

...just a couple of annoyances: "prepare phase only" checkbox does not get saved in custom .ini configuration file; <ChromaMotion> and <ClosedGop> in xvid profiles are "boolean-reversed"... I mean: "true" value makes -nochromame (and/or -noclosed_gop) in "command line"...

g except a loud 'snap' at the beginning
seems that some audio samples are corrupted. please try open the delaycut log (movie xxx.log), are errors reported ?
you can also try to re-rip the audio (just re-demux it)
EDIT: "prepare phase only" checkbox does not get saved in custom .ini
that's wanted, could be dangerous if checked and forgotten ;)
if true the "-nochromame" or "-noclosed_gop" are applied, else not applied
would be better in profile if spelled <NoChromaMotion> and <NoClosedGop> ... i will check !

I certainly did... and it's concise, precise and very well articulated...
My father was a jewellery wholesaler before he passed away in '99 and my mum, being a very earthy person enjoyed working in the garden... She could never understand why he consistently refrained from mowing the lawn...
He simply said, 'it was better to pay someone to mow the lawn so that he could spend more time runnning the business and use the time more productively' ...
My computer science professor (Latin: "one who claims publicly to be an expert") enjoyed saying that 'life is about priorities... if your project is late, possibly because of more important matters or subjects, then 10% off per day' ... It was quite an eye-opener since you have the choice to choose your direction and to decide what you are actually doing on this little planet of ours and what is most important to you... life is too short to be living someone else's dream...
We focus and become experts in our field... which is perhaps better than everyone becoming equally expert/clueless about everything/nothing...
It's not unheard of that certain people have no idea of how a car actually works and can't even change a tire... with even less inclination to learn or even to be interested... or for that matter, there being more than just a few adults in New York, not even having a drivers licence... which is good !
You really don't want too many experts in the kitchen anyway... Those who are talented and interested should be encouraged to read further, write their own software, study software engineering and attend university to design micro-chips, OS's and computer systems...
Teamwork is a good thing while it works...

...esatto! :)
I was not sure if post on the italian forum, since (I guess) this is the "official" thread.
anyway, here another small annoyance ;): I've created a new XviD profile named Xvid_SAP_2.xml "forked" from Xvid_SAP.xml; now, when I re-launch AutoMKV and re-load custom settings, on "basic settings" tab I see "mine" profile is selected (Xvid_SAP_2.xml) BUT switching to "advanced settings" tab shows me XviD_Normal.xml's content inside text-area and "command line" params are in agreement of that.
hitting "reload profile" corrects both.
...hoping to be a :helpful:
ps: can I "suggest" a new slogan?

I redid one of the episodes that didn't work with Nero using the Coding Technologies encoder instead - it works fine, although the resulting file is larger than the other Nero one that actually worked correctly. A bug in the Nero encoder maybe?

The wav file produced when I let Automkv do the whole process is about 2.02 GB (2,172,629,080 bytes) in size.
The wav file produced when I run the DGIndex program that is within the Automkv folder turns out to be 1.01 GB (1,086,314,540 bytes).
I don't know what that means or if it helps but its exactly twice as large.:helpful:

@sunflash10
YOU are right!
when checked cartoon mode in xvid is used both cartoon mode AND greyscale !
Fixed in next update! Thanks!
@wizboy11
from colormatrix readme...
The reason this is useful is that MPEG-2 streams typically use Rec.709, whereas most computer software (XviD/DivX decoders, etc...) assumes Rec.601. Thus, if you take an MPEG-2 stream using Rec.709 and pass it as YUV to a decoder which upsamples to RGB using Rec.601 the colors will be slightly off. In this case, you could use ColorMatrix to convert the video from Rec.709 to Rec.601 and then pass it to the decoder.

I'm sure that you know what they do... I'm just fascinated with colour, matrices and cartoons in general so I was hoping for some free info...
The only cartoon I've encoded to date is The Aristocats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aristocats), though my nephews are nuts about Bleach and DragonballZ.
While The Aristocats is pretty old (1970)... animations are now, perhaps, more popular than ever before... mostly on TV I guess...
I suppose, true 3D computer animations, like Shrek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek) and Shrek2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek2) are the next step... with the possibility for absolute photo-realism...
