Queued Job always start with audio encoder NeroAAC(even "1'Audio Codec" is set "Lame")and ignore many other settings...
The input file is .avi. If encoding starting by press "Start", not "Add to Queue" - it's ok.

no need manual cropping.

just set with to 720 and on advanced setting better to check Force ITU Resing and Anamorphic Encoding


Nice in theory, doesn't work in practice. Source is 2.35 PAL DVD, which obviously has black borders.

I have "USE CRF for autoresize [3]", "force ITU resize", "anamorphic encoding" selected and "resize filters [NONE]". I'm using CQ XVID MKV.

The black borders are kept in the encoded file, it's 576 pixels high.

2nd problem, DTS audio is fubarred. In the TEMP directory I have 475MB "fixed1.ac3"-file, and 244kb "audio.ac3"-file. Apparently MKVmerge-command is using the audio.ac3-file..

Does this only happen because my temp-directory was not empty? Rename fails?

I'll answer myself:
a) Yeah, cropping will not happen if resize filter is "NONE". After I enable laczos4resize, black borders are cropped.
b) Looks like the problem is indeed with the temp file not being empty to start with (unchecked delete temp files for testing)

Ok, I agree. In this case, what is the comptest (resmovie.avs) doing for? In log file the new resolution is set after test, but in movie.avs is set nothing (sorry about my english, I am learnig...).

The problem is that if you un-tick "del temp file" and then compress files several times in the same directory with AC3 audio, the step where fixed.ac3 should be renamed to audio.ac3 fails.

In the mpeg cut file I made for testing..

Maybe check if the target file exists before rename operations? Or, heck, just *delete* the target by default! (In the temp directory). In any case you'll only ever see that prob if you want to keep temp files, so :rolleyes:

BTW, dct filter didn't do anything for file compressibility on q=3, hqdn3d appeared to slash bitrate by about 10-20%.

Are you specifying the XVID PAR switch for anamorphic avi/xvid encode? Looks like that would allow anamorphic files without using the MKV container? Can't figure out the logic for the pixel aspect ratio, thought.

So all right, having fooled around with the ac3 audio, here's what happens with DTS audio. Nothing. It's not even in the mkvmerge line and like a fool I told automkv it's OK to delete temp files.. Oh well, good thing the computer doesn't get bored processing the same movie several times..

I checked the -par parameter with an avi file and it works just fine. At least with the five presets and xvid decoder filter.

Media player classic and actual windows media player both displayed it with correct AR. Dunno if any SAP is going to honor that, thought.

just demux your ts file to m2v (video) and mpa/ac3 (audio) elementary streams

Open AutoMKV, as input choose the m2v file, automkv will ask to browse for till 2 audio files. Make your choice or click cancel at seconda audio track.

could it be, that when "Shutdown PC when finished" the PC does actually not shut down but only log off (or restart?) - at least when enabling this I find myself in the login screen

some further improvements I can think of:

selecting 2 audio tracks that way, you still have to choose the second - this could be enabled by default when chosen
mp4box does support setting names for audio tracks - could you maybe provide input fields for that beneath the audio chooser?
x264 is supported in avi as well (?) - would be nice to have this opportunity, too (especially because mp4 editing tools are quite rare)
as far as I know, AC3 can not be part of an mp4 compliant container - an error message before the actual muxing process would be nice, if such file is to be integrated (saves computing time - especially if "Del temp file" is on you'd have to do it all again :( )
same for lame not supporting more than 2 audio channels


I know it might be difficult to find out about program features dynamically since that would be the best way to implement the latter 2 improvements, but maybe there is a way - otherwise it' just a minor improvement that would be nice but is not that important if you know the tricks

One Question to the Xbox Freaks out there ...

I converted TS files to XVID_Normal Profile ... Audio : 3 Tracks with Nero AAC ... AC3/Stereo/Stereo ... everything goes with mp4Box to an MP4 Container.

My Problem now is that when the Video starts everything is fine, but after ca. 30 seconds the Video gets "Croppy" until its look like a slideshow.

So i thought its the CPU Power of the Xbox ... BUT :

When i set the Cache on XBMC to 4096 the video goes to 1 Minute without error and then starts to get croppy ... so it looks like a Network Caching problem i think ...

Networking no Problem - 100 MBIt - no error on other Xvid AVIs from Internet ...

XBMC - Newest version ... 17.12.

Does anyone here has the same Problems ?

Is there the posibility that XBMC has a problem with mp4 Containers ... ?

AC3? That's HD? Xbox simply cannot cope with 1920x1080p material.

1280x720p might and might not work. I've seen some xvid encodes with about 900xSomething resolution that work OK.

Another issue might be that the AAC decoder is probably quite cpu intensive, especially if it's been encrypted as 6-AAC channels instead of straight AC3.

I found the Bug - and a temp. fix ...

I analysed that Cache was going down to 0 % ... only recovering when i was presing pause and then play ... raising to 8 MB didn't work ... so :

I DEACTIVATED the cache function .... evrything works normal now ... perfectly... strange bug ....

YES, automkv (when codec video is xvid) will make an movie.avi and then mux it with audio into mp4 (like you say mp4box -add ****.avi -add ***.MP4 .... )

xvid are encoded with packed b frames ! edit the profile and set <PackedBitstream> to true ( <PackedBitstream>true</PackedBitstream> )... but i don't think this is the problem...

So i found out that it has to do with the Nero AAC file .

Playing automkv plain mp4 file works great on xmbc. but when i am adding an audiotrack with mp4box the xbox goes down as discribed.

Think there is a bug ... but it has nnooooothing to do with automkv .... !!! 8)

I'm still beating the DTS horse. Looks like the audio will be out of synch even when everything else works OK.

For some reason when I tried it again automkv included the dts audio in the mkvmerge command line. Weird.

I'll check encoding the same movie with AC3, let you know when it's finished if that worked OK.

Is it possible to not autoresize but do a autocrop of "back lines" in the MIDDLE of the Film ?

My Ts files are all 720x576 even when 16:9 films are send. So it would be wonderfull to get full width but only crop the black lines(high).

Because of some comercials or trailers in front and at the end of the film it would be good to decide the autocrop in the middle of the film.

0ms delay at least does not seem to be correct. Audio is out of sync from the very beginning. Maybe this is thrown by the company logo sequence in the beginning? I checked with latest (1.49b7) build of DGindex but same result (0ms delay). I also tried muxing in the dgindex output file but it had the same problem.

If so; here is the process that I use to overcome that problem.

> Rip the COMPLETE DVD using anydvd, dvdfab decrypter, or RipIt4Me into a directory.
> Open those files in DVD Shrink 3.1
> Re-author the movie:
--- Select only the angle you are interested in (generally the first)
--- Set the Compression Settings:
----- to select only the audio and subpictures that want.
----- set video compression to "no compression"; ignore warnings
> Backup to second directory (ignore "too big" warnings)
> In AutoMKV open the files in this second directory and process as normal.

Most programs don't get around it since they rely on dgdecode which has the problem.

Some disk will have multiple angles and copy-protection. That is why it is a good idea to use one of the rippers that I mentioned and not dvd decrypter alone.

Let's see what autogk does with that rip.

I use dvdfab when there's a copy protection, otherwise usually always dvd decrypter. Especially nice on episodic DVDs because you can make batch files to rip all the episodes on the disk without having to wait next to the PC.

In any case I think there's angle processing on DVD decrypter, I just didn't figure out it's a problem.

Ed: Apparently in IFO mode only angle 1 is retained. In FILE mode you can pick the angle you want.

i still have some difficults with Audio Tracks in TS Files ...

i tested different programs converting all Tracks to Nero AAC ... best thing worked out is converting with Besweet with new bsn.dll and following command line

Just wanted to thank you for creating a wonderful GUI for x264. You seem to be standing right on that fine line of easy-to-use and still being a very powerful program in the hands of an experienced user, so huge congratulations to you. One suggestion to make, if I may. When selecting an MPEG-2 transport stream (.mpv) as the video source, and then selecting the audio stream in the pop-up boxes that appear after, the Audio Track 1 selection always seems to default to 'None'. This is easily corrected by selecting the chosen audio source from the drop-down box, but it might be handy to have it automatically select it.

Is there any chance of getting the statically linked versions of Removegrain.dll and Repair.dll for the stable package instead of the dynamically versions. when i was using the dynamically linked versions from the 0.63 package, the compression test onward was failing because the avs script couldn't import removegrain.dll and repair.dll. i manually changed the dll's to statically linked versions and the error stopped.

also is there any chance for some simple error checking as Automkv goes through the conversion process. e.g. when you get to the conversion of the audio and the resulting audio file equals 0 give a error or when you do the compression test and the resulting filesize = 0 etc.

BTW do you know what other library is needed to get the dynamic removegrain.dll and repair.dll to work? I've had a look at the removegrain website and it says it that the dynamic versions need a library but fails to say what it is. :confused:
