1. Sometimes MPC-HC doesn't capture the current frame (Alt+I), instead it captures few frames back/forward.

Backward has never happened to me. Forward - yes, frequently. What is funny is that the second (third, fourth...) try without changing the current frame usually gives you the snapshot of the frame you want. It's with madVR.

That is a driver bug. Disabling hardware acceleration can be a workaround.

Which video renderer are you using?

Mostly EVR, sometimes EVR-CP.

Yes, Forward :D

is it possible for mpc-hc to capture frames, or to use higher resolutions than display resolution?

Since I know, it's possible with EVR-CP but EVR, at least for 4K :(

Another problem, both windows media player and MPC-HC show wrong album art for songs that don't have album art

If two players are doing it, something else is at play. They probably do have album art, you just can't see them in Explorer as it won't read ID3v2.4 tags.

File probably has embedded album art.
You can extract it for example using
ffmpeg -i file.mp3 file.jpg

No no, a certain album art has stuck somewhere in my system.
Then for any songs without album art, it shows that stuck album art.

LigH

Where do they show that? In the File Open dialog, using an Explorer control for displaying directory contents with icons? If so: It's probably an Explorer extension building icons from embedded album art. Not the duty of any player.

Hello all,

I am able to automatically switch the audio renderer device by setting the selected device as default via the sound control panel. As long as I have the system default audio renderer selected (on the output options page), the audio automatically switches during video playback.

Now with the internal audio renderer selected (on the output options page" with "System Default" selected as the device (on the Audio Renderer option page), the audio no longer automatically switches. I have to go to the Audio Renderer option page and select the device I want (stereo speakers or HDMI). Then the audio will switch while playing a video, but I have to do this manual step.

If I want to use the internal audio renderer, is there a way to automatically switch the audio device while playing a video? For example, is there a way to set up shortcut keys to select the audio device for the internal audio renderer, or is there a way to have the internal audio renderer automatically switch and automatically play the audio to the selected default device like the system default audio renderer does?

Thanks.

Strange, it works for me this way (when I turn on my TV a new audio device appears in the system and the AV receiver device vanishes from the system).

Options, Playback, Default track preference. ENG as the default subtitles and audio doesn't make it switch automatically. Does this apply only to certain containers (e.g. no AVI), or is a different language code required in some cases?

Preferred subtitles (external) are also broken in latest nightly and it doesn't matter whether the "allow overriding external splitter choice" is ticked or not, it loads them in alphabetical order, it works with v1.7.10 .

Thanks for the new build (x64), but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem with preferred subtitles (it doesn't matter whether the "allow overriding external splitter choice" is ticked or not).
You can try it out with the following naming:
foo.mkv , foo.en.srt , foo.ge.srt
And put this in under Playback -> Default track preference -> Subtitles: "ge en"
(Prefer external subtitles over embedded is checked.)

ge is not a valid ISO language code. It will work if you use foo.ger.srt instead.

However, it used to be possible to use non-ISO tags in the past, so that is still a regression.

I don't think so. Maybe is some version 3+ years ago.

Yes, and the languages are recognized, both with 2 chars and 3 chars ISO codes. (it , ita)
I'll create a screenshot later if it's important.

As I reported: it's working fine in 1.7.10 version, only latest nightlyes break it.

Why, have you tried it and does it work for you?

is the best for HEVC?

LigH
16th April 2016, 08:52
MPC-HC (using LAV Filters as decoder) is a versatile player. It is certainly good for HEVC. But the best? ... The best "HEVC player" may be one I don't know, which plays HEVC only but no other formats.

You may buy UHDecode from Multicoreware, if you like. Their HEVC decoder may be even a little faster. But MPC-HC and LAV Filters are free, and already very good for many formats, including HEVC.

Here I test nightly version 1.7.10.172 with all subtitle provider checked. From download subtitles window, it only show subtitles list from OpenSubtitles and Napisy24. I also test again with previous version, 1.7.10.130, it shows all subtitle from all provider I checked on options page. I test on two movies I have here many times and still same results. I hope it just a temporary issue at my end.

Hi, I just realized after previous post I don't get any subtitles list from 2 provider, ysubs and SubDB, test with .107, .130, and .172. I don't really understand the mechanism. As I read, SubDB use hash for search, so that could be the reason, but ysubs, I can access the website and found after search manually. I hope someone could confirm both are working for you. I also try rename the filename and same result. Sorry I don't have much file to test. Thanks. Regards :)

Some correction from what I sent to you, that build shows completely unrelated results from podnapisi after rename those file.. Also forget to tell that I test with all provider checked in the options. I still don't get anything from ysubs and SubDB from any build I test (probably caused by movies itself?), thats what makes me curious. :)

Finally SubDB shows a result on another movie I just got. Now only ysubs, maybe need another movie just for test :)

Yes, everything is scaled, except for the toolbar. You can put a custom toolbar.bmp in the MPC-HC folder to get larger buttons.
