Is there a support for BD-J via dslibbluray in mpc-hc 64?

I've been out of the loop regarding some recent changes and had some questions I hope someone would be able to answer. :)
1) Has the MPC-HC internal audio renderer improved enough to the point it should be used or should I continue to stick with "system default"? Using MPC-HC 1.7.9.165 x64.
2) Is the LAV stereo mixing dolby standard still 0.71/0.71/1.58 for Center/Surround/LFE with just clipping protection enabled?
3) Is hardware acceleration (dxva copyback) bad to use for 10-bit encodes / anime?

1. it's not broken and i don't know any issues.
2. standard for me is 0.71 0.71 0.00
3. 10 bit h264 can't be decoded with DXVA.

1) Great. I'll switch over to it. :)
2) Right, that's my understanding. But isn't there a standard value amount for if you wanted to mix in LFE? As well as are any of the other settings recommended or just the clipping protection?
3) Could you elaborate? I can playback 10 bit h264 perfectly fine with DXVA hardware acceleration enabled. Does it fallback to none automatically if it isn't supported?

@Devs
I have for some time been using my own builds of MPC-HC. No problems. But I just I just tried building the packages with the build script. No problems there either except there was no crash reporter, even though the DLL did compile. Was that an oversight, intentional, or a screw-up on my part?
EDIT: This was version 1.7.9.165

Crash reporter is not meant to be packed in unofficial packages. This is intentional that it does only work with official builds.

You mean you don't want to get crash reports on someone's hacks? Smart move - I don't blame you at all for that. And that was pretty much my guess, but I just needed to know for sure.
Thanks for the prompt reply.

It feels very inaccurate compared to some other players, like e.g. MPDN.

is 3d bluray disc playback supposed to work with 3d being displayed? Obviously its not a bug if its not supported so Im asking.
I've done some searching around and I've found some vague references to 3D bluray disc playback being possible with this stack set
Can anyone confirm if it is indeed supported?
Thx

Im trying to find the answer to this too, its also an important feature to me.
The best I have found so far is back in 2014 a bloke provided a proof of concept patch and that seems as far as it went? its discussed here:

Drag&drop from a CD/DVD acts as a "copy" operation. Drag&drop on a regular drive acts as a "move" operation. You can change that to "copy" by holding Ctrl button. Then it also fails when dropping onto MPC-HC.

Thanks mate. I guess it is what it is. Its a great shame though, bluray menu support and 3d bluray disc support would greatly extend the use cases for the software.
I might look into VLC or the black edition MPC fork, The problem last time I looked at the black edition was that all the commit logs in their GIT was in Russian and I cant understand what the changes are.

In other words, lack of man power. 'Patch' that is provided is just a concept, far from finished and the reason why it's not pushed into repository is that mpc-hc devs don't push unfinished things anymore (like it was the case before 4-5 years)

Some questions I always wanted to ask regarding MPC-HC
- Is internal LAV filter just as updated and as functional as the real LAV Audio, LAV Video, and LAV Splitter? It seems to have very limited options
- I disable all internal filters and just add LAV Filters as External Filers and select "Prefer". I also delete the LAV folder in MPC-HC folder. Is that OK?
- I know MPC-HC was made for simplicity and raw performance and I know there are a few Toolbars available, BUT is MPC-HC going to go through graphical overhaul and/or get skin support? It looks bland...
- Could MPC play Netflix through HTML5 like IE11 or Windows Store Netflix App? Not the Silver light version - it does not offer Super HD.

Believe me, I'm delighted to be wrong about that. I think one reason why the subject is being bought up more frequently as of late is that libbluray is approaching version 1.0 and I've seen a lot of the commit activity trail off over time leaving the impression that it's largely complete. At least I'm probably not the only one who's noticed. As to the man power available, if I had the time I'd learn to code well enough to contribute to it myself. So I look forward to a time in the future when I can use Blu-ray menus with MPC-HC and madVR.
Then all we need to do is get mosu or someone else to develop mastroska spec far enough to make menus possible in mkv files :sly:
Thanks for the feedback.

Not sure why you would disable the internal filters and then add the same filters that you disabled and prefer them.
The interface is basic and always has been. I'd like it to stay that way.

MPC-HC nightlies may include current LAV Filters; if not, it should not be a big issue to exchange them manually. At least I do not believe they differ from the release.

Since the LAV filter shipped with MPC-HC ARE the real LAV filters and are current, that makes your exercise of disabling and adding OK but pointless.
As far as skinnability goes - we had a big debate here on just that subject several months ago. It became quite heated on both sides with the final consensus being that the devs don't need to be wasting their time on skin nonsense. Watch the movie, not the player.
Lastly, don't hold your breath waiting for Netflix support on open-source software.

1) is it unique to "new internal renderer"? (try using system default from options -> outputs -> audio renderer)
2) is it unique to shared or exclusive mode? (is exclusive mode checkbox ticked or not)
3) accidentally, bitstreaming?

Thanks, but it didn't help, it was my fault.

2) is it unique to shared or exclusive mode? (is exclusive mode checkbox ticked or not)
3) accidentally, bitstreaming?
1. no, it was the same with the system default as well
2. using exclusive mode
3. bitstreaming
It was my fault: previously (couple of months ago) I have been playing around with different audio renderers based on file extensions, these registry entries caused the trouble, but only with ts files, not with mkvs.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc.mkv\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\MPC-HC\\game64.exe\" /audiorenderer 6 \"%1\""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc.ts\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\MPC-HC\\game64.exe\" /audiorenderer 6 \"%1\""
I have reverted back the original values (deleting the audiorenderer part), and now all's good.
Sorry for the false alarm, and thanks for both of your help.

Hi,
MPC-HC is actually limited to ps3.0 compiler (pixel shader) which belongs to dx9c.
Did you plan to support ps4.0 which is A LOT less restrictive than ps3.0 ?
For example, ps3.0 is limited to 512 instructions slots and 32 temp registers whereas ps4.0 can manage up to 65536 instructions slots and 4096 temp registers.
Thanks a lot

As long as the renderer is still D3D9 in general, it cannot do any higher pixel shader level. 4.0 requires D3D10.

I'm curious. What pixel shader are you trying to use or write that could really use the level 4 semantics and onward? I only have two examples that really hit the instruction limit of level 3.
As far as I know, the level 4 semantics and onward are just more efficient at a few tasks, such as independent texture sampling, reading and writing. On top of that, the minimum requirements for DirectX 10 and onward make some programming tasks easier due to not having to write some types of legacy fallback code (e.g. a huge list of texture formats is required for hardware support in DirectX 10 and onward, but only very few formats are required in DirectX 9).

I've got this message (ps 3.0) from MPC-HC (pixel shader debug mode) :
"error X4505: maximum temp register index exceeded"
ps3.0 : up to 32 temp registers
ps4.0 : up to 4096 temp registers
I'm trying to use kernels 7x7 or 9x9 (sobel, prewitt, etc).

Guys, now that x265 is coming up, more and more files have integrated subtitles. The problem is, some of them have fixed styles, positions, size, colours etc... Can we have an option to disable all styles and play the subs as I've set it to? I'll mention Potplayer that has this option for reference.
Also, would be difficult to add "Direct3D Presentation: Flip mode"? Potplayer has it too and it brings GPU utilization down... As microsoft claims, it's more efficient way to play, but anyway.
P.S. By the way, Direct3D FullScreen gives me black screen when I try to get out of it ( win 10 x64 ). The only way to restore it is by hitting ctrl-alt-del and blindly sign out and in, again.

Olivier C., large kernels are a bit tricky indeed. They are very costly as well. Trying to split the operations into a horizontal and vertical filter is hard for Sobel, Prewitt and other signal detection filters if you want to keep the three color channels.
Raylan Givens, Flip mode isn't that special. FlipEx mode is. It does indeed bring CPU and GPU utilization down when Desktop Composition is enabled. I've implemented it and its scheduler a long time ago in my version of the renderer.
The renderer in the trunk build can't handle it though. It relies on sub-rectangle copy operations from a desktop-sized surface (after resizing), and FlipEx doesn't allow that.
