This did it. Opening up the mlps stream in the newest version of tsmuxer gave me a file that streamed to my PS3 perfectly. Thank you very much.

You're welcome.:)

Note that all movies aren't as simple as mlps 00001 being the main movie. Sometimes they can be tricky.

That's good to hear although i dont have a popcorn hour i have a tvix player i wonder if popcorn hour plays files better right now then the tvix but they should fix things with firmware updates if the problem is on there end. Have you tried other movies that have many split files?
I don't know much about the tvix but popcorn hour does its job just amazing after muxing with tsmuxer. syabas is fast in updating the firmware if bugs arise. no problems so far with any blu-ray or hddvd title (the letter after removing pulldown with vc1conv, didn't try tsmuxer yet). ok, maybe there are problems with seamless branching files, no clue :)
and furthermore I need some more testing with subs....

(err, and someone told me that 99% of the scene releases work also )

Thanks,

I attach 2 srt files.

a.srt will play perfectly in all formats ( ansi/unicode/utf8 ) even if muxed to a random mkv file.
b.srt will not play no matter what I try.

I am trying to edit b.srt to see if some special formating tag causes it to fail to play.
If Roman takes a look in the srts I am sure he will find what causes b.srt to be problematic.

PS. When the srt plays ok it does so in both PS3 and nero showtime 4.
When it does not play, it does not play in both.
PS2. The language of the srts is Greek..

I use the attached batch file to do the rename on the fly.
You need to edit the 1st line to point to your BDMV folder.

Maybe in a future version we can have a 'switch' in the GUI to direct tsmuxer to output 8.3 files..

I recently purchased a Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD camcorder. I just tried tsMuxeR Version 1.8.4(b) to join the clips from the camera. I added the first clip then appended a few more. It correctly recognizes 3 streams.

1- H.264 Profile High@4.0 Resolution 1920:1080i Frame rate: 29.97
2- AC3 Bitrate:448Kbps Sample rate: 48KHz Channels 6
3- PGS Presentation Graphic Stream #0 Resolution 1920:1080i Frame rate: 29.97

I selected the output as M2TS muxing and it completed quickly without errors.

The problem is that when I try to open the joined file in Vegas Pro 8.0b it's recognized as a 1 stream file containing only stereo audio. The video and presentation streams are missing.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

@roman76

I just try to watch a movie on the PS3, and the video wasn't working. I try to demux the stream in tsmuxer, but I got a error. Invalid stream format.. soomething like that. It was the audio track the problem.

I used ripbot the convert the mkv but I copied the audio track, not reenconde it.

Is it possible to add the same validation(popup message, for the audio track.. invalid) when muxing the video+audio tracks with the command line?

I'm reencoding everything (video+ac3) and will mux it will 1.8.4 to see if I still got the error.

Can you add an option to rename all the files back to their original names? If would help the lazy :) Thanks for script.

Edit: Just realized that it creates a backup directory for all renamed files.

I've made something for those of us who are making these AVCHD rips on FAT32 drives. I got sick of renaming all those files so I've made a little AutoIt script to do it for you. You just need to place the .exe in the same folder as your BDMV directory sits and run it.

@ Roman

U did it, just tried the latest tsmuxer on a wmv 720p video.
I created a mkv with the vc1 stream with Haalis gsdmux, converted the wma to ac3 muxed together with a dutch subtitle(srt).
Ouput (AVCHD) plays fine on my PS3 with selectable subtitles, only thing is that it doesn't recognize the language (dut /flamish) shouldn't that be (nld) for Dutch subtitles???

great work!!

I think that would take an authoring program like Scenarist. $$$

You could shrink the files down with Ripbot, try to mux 2 files with tsMuxer and create a blu-ray disc structure, then burn with Img burn.I'm not sure if tsMuxer is capable of creating a Blu-ray structure with more than 1 playlist.

I haven't tried this, but it should work.

thanks, it is very easy. doing the encoding now, pass 1 right now.

I've processed over 100 files with tsMuxeR. A big thanks to Roman for making, and continuing to improve such a wonderful tool.

Out of all of those files, I've had only a few (four so far) that caused the error, "Some tracks not recognized. This tracks was ignored." to appear when processing the AC3 track.

If I demux the MKV using mkvextract, the resulting AC3 checks fine with ac3fix, and ffmpeg has no problem combining it with the H264 video into a VOB. Even taking that VOB from ffmpeg and playing in on the PS3 is fine, and bitstream is decoded properly by my surround receiver. But tsMuxeR will still not load even that bare AC3 stream.

Like I said, it has only happened with a small percentage of the files I've processed. I'm sure there is something not quite right with the AC3 stream, but every other tool or player I have handle the file does without complaint. I'm guessing tsMuxeR is just not as forgiving.

Roman, if you would like chunks of any of these files, let me know how much, and I will prepare them for you.

I have been trying since yesterday with all intermediate versions of tsmuxer. All the times when I turn the subs option on PS3 on, nothing happens.

My sources are mkv files of popular tv seriers at 720p with english srt files.
I create blue-ray structure and burn to udf 2.5 dvd.
The dvd plays in PS3 as AVCHD.
I also tried renaming the files to 8.3 and copying to usb stick. Again this works as AVCHD, I turn on the subs but they do not appear.

I have played with many different font sizes and bottom offsets without success.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks..

I have found the solution to my problem.
The srt does not play if the first subtitle starts at 00:00:00,000
Now all is 100% ok.

What do you mean by AVCHD, as in not Blu-ray? Did you set Blu-ray or m2ts as output? If the second I didn't know that mode supported subtitles, I thought we needed a Blu-ray structure for subtitles to work.

The only difference is what kind of disc it is burned to. If I put a BD structure on a DVD, my Panasonic BD30 reads it as an AVC-HD disc. If I put the exact same files on a BD-R, it reads it as a BD disc.

Hi,
I have tried to put several movies/episodes in TsMuxer (with the add function):
- remuxed as Blu-ray
- burnt on DVD-RW
- put it in Panasonic BD30

but this does not work (at least in the BD30); however one file "converted" to AVCHD (blu-ray structure on DVD medium) works fine.

The challenge is: fit 2 or more files (e.g. mkv h264) onto one AVCHD DVD (or SD card)
Is there a way to do that ? perhaps needs something else than Tsmuxer... Ideally, one movie/episode would correspond to one chapter...

TsMuxer does not like AC3 44100Hz
I just checked one of the AC3 files I still have on my hard drive (the other 3 are on DVD, but still accessible, if needed). While playing using AC3Filter, it reports:

Decoder:
Stream format: AC3 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000Hz
Bitstream type: byte stream
Frame size: 1536
Samples: 1536
Bitrate: 384kbps
SPDIF stream type: 0x1
Frame interval: 1536
Actual bitrate: 384kbps
AC3 speakers: 3/2.1 (5.1)
sample rate: 48000Hz
bitrate: 384kbps
stream: 8 bit
frame size: 1536 bytes
nsamples: 1536
bsid: 6
clev: -3.0dB (0.7071)
slev: -3.0dB (0.7071)
dialnorm: -22dB
bandwidth: 10kHz/18kHz

So it appears to be 48kHz. Also I just checked a few more files until I found one that presents the exact same AC3Filter Decoder info, and tsMuxeR was able to handle it fine.

Roman, finally with last version a can put the subtitles in my PS3, thx.

I have two questions, first i cant make it to accept italics, is there a way around this? Second i'm getting a final video stream much bigger then the original, this is normal? One case i passed form 6gb to 8gb after the 5.1 to 4.1 conversion.

PS: To do list; add black bars to non compliant files and a simple menu to "episodes disc" ;-)

Try adding the first, and append the rest.

If I understood you correctly, your idea would be to add one file and then append the remaining ones.
Then set the chapters so they start whenever in sync with each new file....

--> then I have trouble with sub titles... Would be a nightmare to sync them !?

--> Let alone having to tune the chapters so they're in sync...

Isn't there a easy way to have a multiple stream AVCHD that can take different videos as input (and associated subs) ?

I thought I had read somewhere that Blu-ray supports text-based subtitles using a font built into the player or a custom one included on the disc, along with the pre-rendered bitmap overlays like DVD. Any truth to that?

Yes, I have seen it mentioned in the scenarist manual, though I haven't used it myself.

The HDMV format offers two ways of providing subtitles, presentation graphics
(see Chapter9, “Presentation graphics”) and text-based subtitles. Unlike PGs,
text-based subtitles are not converted into graphics. They are stored outside of
the main audio-visual stream, and therefore don’t affect the bandwidth or quality
of the main movie at all; instead, they are added to the main AV stream when the
BD player runs the title. This division of storage locations makes it possible to
provide more subtitle languages on a movie without taking up a lot of disc space
or compromising video quality.
Although they are not converted into graphics, text-based subtitles are positioned
and sized in text regions on the presentation (graphic) plane. Within each text
region are text boxes, which use text “styles” to determine font type, size, color,
text flow, and line spacing. Text styles can be changed character by character,
and can be altered over time to create fade-in or fade-out effects.

The only way to get data on the PS3 HD is to copy it from one of its interfaces (flash media, USB, or optical), using its XMB GUI. I don't believe the GUI gives a Copy option for AVCHD.

If you were thinking of removing the PS3's HD and placing it in a computer to copy the data that way, it isn't going to work. The PS3's disk format is undocumented (and probably encrypted).

No.

In fact the "level" is just a tag to indicate to the player how large the decode buffer should be and what maximum bitrate to expect, along with other things for compatibly. That is the reason some players refuse to decode Level 5.1 tagged steams because no consumer gear is able to handle the requirements of Level 5.1 at this point. 5.1 will be used in things like 4K cinema.

So in fact what the level conversion is doing is really correcting the tag to match what the data really is. While a video steam conforming to Level 4.1 will also conform to 5.1. It is just the lazy way out for an encoder to tag everything as 5.1 because everything available today will fit into 5.1.

Thanks for that i imagined something would not be that easy, And i also realise that just copying over the .m2ts file for playback works but only with DD5.1 and PCM does nayone know if this now works with DTS-HD MA also if not then an external hard drive is probably the only option.

The XMB player (which is different than the Blu-ray player) of the PS3 only supports: PCM, AC3, and AAC audio. The Blu-ray player which is triggered by a Blu-ray or AVCHD disc additionally supports DTS and other HD audio formats.

If you just give the PS3 separate M2TS files you'll have to return to the XMB to pick the next part. But if the files are part of an AVCHD/Blu-ray structure with a proper playlist it will seamlessly move from one file to the next.

I just got a 250 GB HD for my PS3, and took the old 60 GB and placed it in an external FireWire/USB2.0 enclosure. This make for a very nice setup.

Big Q.: Why infront of demuxed LPCM (WAV) tracks I have 240 samples of garbadge which would make a loud crack when you try to play a file? I'm testing this on the infamouse Ratatouillie BlueRay and it really doesn't matter if I demuxe the very first m2ts or the one in the middle, they all have this, everything's fine on the joints. I have not had much luck with motion menus, they play in Nero Showtime fine but are “skippy” on the player.

At the end select write to hard drive folder d:\BluRay\menu, it takes about a minute to complete.

With tsMuxer load 1st pre-prepaired title and select create BluRay and set destination d:\BluRay\1
For the 2nd title write to d:\BluRay\2, 3rd to d:\BluRay\3 etc.

Then manually copy or run a batch

ECHO
rename D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts 00000.m2ts
rename D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi 00000.clpi

COPY D:\BluRay\2\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts
copy D:\BluRay\2\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi
copy D:\BluRay\2\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls D:\Bluray\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00001.mpls

COPY D:\BluRay\3\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\STREAM\00002.m2ts
copy D:\BluRay\3\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\00002.clpi
copy D:\BluRay\3\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls D:\Bluray\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00002.mpls

COPY D:\BluRay\4\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\STREAM\00003.m2ts
copy D:\BluRay\4\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\00003.clpi
copy D:\BluRay\4\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls D:\Bluray\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00003.mpls

COPY D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\STREAM\00004.m2ts D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\STREAM\00004.m2ts
copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\CLIPINF\00004.clpi D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\00004.clpi
copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00004.mpls D:\Bluray\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00004.mpls

copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\index.bdmv D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\index.bdmv
copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\MovieObject.bdmv D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\MovieObject.bdmv
copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\index.bdmv D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\BACKUP\index.bdmv
copy D:\BluRay\menu\BDMV\MovieObject.bdmv D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\BACKUP\MovieObject.bdmv

Now you have the files in place at d:\BluRay\1 for your 4 title with menu BD-5/9 disk
Now using a hexeditor open d:\BluRay\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST 00000.mpls and change the reference from P00001M2TS to P00000M2TS. Then open 00002.mpls and change it to 2, open 3 and change it to 3, 4 is the menu and is already correct.

After that is done populate the backup directory or use a batch

xcopy /R D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\PLAYLIST\*.mpls d:\Bluray\1\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST\
xcopy /R D:\BluRay\1\BDMV\CLIPINF\*.clpi d:\Bluray\1\BDMV\BACKUP\CLIPINF\

Then Burn d:\BluRay\1

Plays fine on a Sony-300.

Thanks Roman and Pelican your programs are great.

Will this work to create a blu-ray disc with 2 movies?
