Well, xonar is a nogo for now :
CMpcAudioRenderer::InitAudioClient not supported (88890008)
I guess that the format tag is different than MS offical ones.
But as bitstream can work with the xonar with TMT 3, it communicates with other media types/format tags.
I doubt asus or arcsoft will communicate this information. However we can try the arcsoft media types that rica got a while ago
Otherwise there is another technique that Madshi pointed me about
Typical - Doesn't surprise me really. I know you're getting close to getting it working on the ATI cards, so I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread anyway. If you want me to do soem more testing just let me know.

I have fixed the buffer filling issue. It should be better
I hope that AC3 passthrough is fixed : if it is, EAC3 bitstream should work too, and I hope that TrueHD will work
I have also removed some debug traces and after 2~3 seconds of play there no more debug traces
FFDShow HD bitstream beta 24 pack (http://damienbt.free.fr/FFDShow_bitstream_beta24_pack.zip)
About the 32 bits float on ffmpeg, there is a new method to be called and to implement inside FFDShow. xxl told me about that, that will let add the wma pro support and maybe this will add 32 bits support too, but I fear that this is a decoder only issue and features request must be posted on the ffmpeg mailing list as clsid pointed out
Samuri where are you????:p

Beta 24 version of the renderer does not fix AC3 bitstreaming. No sound, no bitstream detection by receiver and stopping playback hangs GraphStudio.
http://pastebin.com/m55a39cc5
Beta 20 version of renderer still working with ffdshow beta version 24, though the stream will drop in and out for a few seconds when playback is first started and then have occasional dropouts later during playback.

Also, just an FYI. This setup royally screws up my system. When I have ffdshow and the renderer installed, some of my games no longer load. What I'm finding is that it's screwing up their ability to play their opening video sequence and instead I just get a black screen and it just sits there. Once I remove ffdshow and the renderer it's all good with the games. But this is a pain.
I almost forgot that I wanted to respond to this. In the ffdshow audio configuration under the DirectShow control section there is the ability to either individually select which applications ffdshow is allowed to load with or alternately select applications which ffdshow is NOT allowed to load with (allowing all others). This should prevent the above issues.

It didn't as I tried that. It's not ffdshow that's messing it up. I was able to trace it to the audio renderer. Although I have no real idea why that's causing issues in the game. If I unregister it my games are fine so I just wrote some batch files for it.

This trial didn't go very well at all. The receiver showed no activity at all.

I'll try the eac audio next but I'm not very optimistic.

eac3 audio track. Receiver did nothing for this, as well.

Something is wrong with the sleep duration (0), and EAC3 parsing is buggy
Can you try again with this MPC renderer (http://damienbt.free.fr/MpcAudioRendererFilter.ax)
SamuriHL
17th October 2009, 14:24
Um. I can't join that renderer to the decoder in my graph. What just happened???
SamuriHL
17th October 2009, 14:26
It worked in MPC. TrueHD light comes on, no audio.

EAC3 is refused by the drive => driver issue I guess
About TrueHD, this seems well but I can't see the debug traces from the MPC renderer
Don't you have an old graphstudio process ?
Did you get the traces from the moment before you connected the pins ?

OK, this version of the renderer has some weird behavior. Receiver detects Dolby Digital stream, but is silent UNLESS I am running DebugView. When DebugView is running the receiver will playback the bitstream. I tried this a few times to make sure and both behaviors are repeatable.

That log didn't come from graphstudio as it refused to allow me to connect the renderer. It came from MPC. I don't think the renderer registered correctly myself. Windows claims it did but I can't attach it in my graph at all, even after removing it and re-adding it.
As for EAC3, yea, I was wondering that, too. Awesome. Guess we won't be bitstreaming that with this card.

I have rebuilt it, same link
very very very weird

Negative. This is what I get when I try to attach it in graphstudio to the ffdshow audio decoder.
http://pastebin.com/pastebin.php?dl=d28815f24
Maybe that helps? I don't know but it will NOT let me attach to it.
SamuriHL

P.S. I revert back to the renderer in pack 24 and it attaches fine.

Ooops ! My fault, I uploaded the release instead of debug (and different) version
...This is so slowwww... (75%)
EDIT : done

Ok, when the new release is up I'll take a look. I'm in the middle of a different test right now and will take me about 10 minutes to get back to that configuration when I'm done.

My test was to check the latest realtek driver. It is not suitable for bitstreaming with ffdshow. :( This totally blows because in order to properly use my TMT2/bit perfect audio support/ReClock, I need the realtek driver so I can set it to 32 bit when using WASAPI excl mode. Just shoot me.

No longer hangs GraphStudio, but, still no change on the receiver side. It doesn't even notice that we're sending anything to it. :(

Actually, even decoded PCM audio crashes graphstudio with this version of the renderer so it could be that mine is attempting to fall back to decoded audio after the format is refused and yours is not (since the format is accepted).

This time the log output is what I expected
but this still does not work.
What about AC3 and EAC3 ?
SamuriHL
17th October 2009, 18:22
AC3 pauses every frame so it's got this nice skipping thing going on but does bitstream, and as we determined earlier, EAC3 doesn't bitstream on my card with this driver.

Can the MPC audio renderer be used for something other than bitstreaming, like WASAPI exclusive mode with decoded LPCM? Seems not to be connecting here with MPC-HC 1300.
