Thank you very helpful, the first frame did not make it actually
I think I found where and why it crashes !!
I did not respect all the iec recommandations about the buffer length.
Actually there is one different lenght for each format which defines the frame repetition for audio/video synchronization.
My buffer was equal to source length which is false because the iec encapsulation + additional length (for audio/video sync) were both missing.
This should be better now.
This length is correct for TrueHD and EAC3, I don't have it for DTS-HD (it is located into IEC doc 5 I guess). But one problem at a time
I am uploading the new build....

So, no more crashing. WOO HOO! Well done! However, I'm not getting TrueHD. I'm getting a loud buzzing noise through multi-channel PCM. If you can figure that one out and fix it we should be good. Thanks so much for your efforts!!!!!

Ok, one more bug : I used the output media type everywhere except at the last step of decoding, which explains why bitstream is refused at the very end
Here is a pack of 2 new builds : one build with reconnection, one without.
I fear that reconnection is necessary but it seems not to work after the audio rendere has been initialized once.

Please use it with the reconnect build of the last beta

This is weird because on my side it nearly works (the reconnection from AC3 compressed to true hd decoding through FFDShow, so AC3 to PCM)

Well, then you need to be patient. albain has made some TREMENDOUS progress in the past few days. If this audio renderer issues gets fixed we could have THD bitstreaming working. That's absolutely phenomenal! In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy my sweet TMT2 set up on my 5870. Bit perfect LPCM + ReClock is not a bad thing IMO. ;)

OK, the quirks have been sorted out, there are no known issues with this release.
I wrote a minimal upgrade routine, the video OSD filter will be added after the grab filter.
I also made the audio OSD filter stationary at the end for now.
Notes regarding backward compatibility:
- I made drawOSD(msg,x,y) obsolete in favour of an overloaded shortOSDmessage(msg,duration,x,y) method.
the new method is much more powerful and clean than the old one, for example, you are no longer limited to one absolutly positioned osd line per frame, and you don't have to clean up the text after drawing.
- I added the duration parameter to the external API, existing programs will default to a duration of 25 frames.
I'm pretty sure the new way the API works will make it easier and less buggy for implementors to use the OSD in the future.
- the old OSD settings and presets will be ignored during the upgrade. it would be a royal mess to try to import those, I feel that the few power user who uses the OSD will have no trouble to adjust, and I'm sure they will appreciate the modifications.

But IMO analog outputs are much more sensitive to driver issues.

LOL :) If Cyberlink and ArcSoft were smart they'd get their butt in gear and release proper bitstreaming support for the 5xxx cards ASAP. Cyberlink is dragging their feet, and ArcSoft hasn't committed yet, so, we're a ways away from "sanctioned" bitstreaming. I applaud albain's efforts here because bitstreaming + MPC + ReClock will make a VERY powerful combo.

When Cyberlink released her famous patch we will have been already watching HD audio with ffdshow or reclock even with our 4*** series cards:D :D :D

Can you take a look at this log when you get a chance? (It's up there for 1 day) I want to know if anything in there indicates that the new realtek driver won't do bitstreaming for us. If it'll work, I'm going to stick with that. If not, I'll switch back to ATI's driver whenever you need me to test something. In looking at the log it seems like it's just as good as the ATI. The renderer still gives the same error which may be preventing the reconnection from happening. Anyway, I'm just curious if this driver will work for us on this effort. Thanks!

P.S. I finally setup and saved a graph in graphstudio that I can test with rather than having to open MPC-HC every time. It should allow me to test things a bit faster. If it works in the graph, then I can test it with MPC-HC. Otherwise I can post the log from the graph which doesn't have all the video nonsense in there to make it easier to read. Yes, I'm learning. :)

thanks for your patience.
I worked on the MPCAudioRenderer and realized that the wasapi implementation is very sensitive to the.... audio driver
The PC on which I develop (laptop) does not handle wasapi correctly, unlike my HTPC, so the audio driver is faulty.
So I am trying to fix the wasapi reinitialization in case of a change of media type, which is the case if the input format is not detected correctly.
I hope to release a build shortly

Well that's a good time. I think the realtek driver is more friendly for wasapi from my experience, but, I'm not sure if it can be used for this testing. I can easily switch between the two so it's not a big deal but if the realtek can be used it'd be beneficial.

Does TotalMedia Theatre or PowerDVD or... play the channels different (the way you "feel" it should) than FFDShow or MPC-HC for you ?
I don't have Powerdvd installed, and my legit Xonar TMT version won't start. Eac3to can access the DTS-MA decoder...which is all that matters.
I think the Xonar version of TMT won't run because I haven't got the HDMI part of the drivers installed (Splendid HD)...it's bloatware, and I run 8 x analogue.
Anyway, I've got a work around, I'm letting ffdshow send "same as input" to the drivers, which then upmix 5.1 to 7.1.
For 2 channel, I use ffdshow set to 7.1 channels and then the Xonar doesn't upmix.

Ok, something is still wrong. I expected the following trace but it didn't show up :
"CMpcAudioRenderer::CheckAudioClient Format changed, reinitialize the audio client"
which means that the new format has not been applied (although it has been sent to the renderer)
It means that there is still a bug
I hope to release a fix at the end of the day (busy day at work)

Hi,
I have brought some modifications to FFDShow
Instead of :
1/ Parsing stream
2/ First frame : detect AC3
3/ Send it to renderer
4/ Second frame : detect TrueHD (oops)
5/ Change of format and send TrueHD to renderer
I now do :
1/ Parsing stream
2/ First frame : detect AC3
3/ This is AC3, maybe a TrueHD frame is after. Backup it and grab next frame (only do this for the first frame)
4/ Second frame : detect TrueHD. Drop the AC3 frame and switch to TrueHD codec
5/ Send TrueHD to renderer (no change of format toward the renderer)

I don't know : does the nvidia 9400 supports LPCM HD (7.1) through HDMI ?
The constraint is to have a HDMI 1.3 output : if the HDMI consists in a DVI link for video and SPDIF for audio this is not possible to output hd audio
