@Alex_080
sounds like your x264.exe is out of date with respect to your MeGUI version.

Little hints...

@ PzSniper:

If you press [Alt]+[PrtScr], only the content of the active window gets shot, not the whole screen; so you don't need to cut it out manually.

@ Alex_080:

MeGUI has a new updater URL while kurtnoise is more or less the only active developer (and unable to upload to the previous URLs).

Thanks to Richard Berg, I can upload files on megui.org now...I'll make an update asap. My own webpage will be probably dedicated to the MeGUI kbr builds.

Hello

Ive Questions about the new x264 Presets Options.

1. How can i fully disable 264 presets in megui?
Medium means that no prestet will be applied ?

-2 Will a x264 Preset (slower or slowest) overwrite the x264 commandline ? So far i see not ?!

Example:
program --profile high --level 4.1 --preset slower --pass 2 --bitrate 1000 --stats ".stats" --thread-input --deblock -1:-1 --bframes 3 --b-adapt 2 --direct auto --b-bias 0 --scenecut 40 --ref 4 --vbv-bufsize 50000 --vbv-maxrate 50000 --rc-lookahead 40 --no-mbtree --aq-mode 1 --aq-strength 1.0 --merange 16 --me umh --subme 8 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --trellis 2 --psy-rd 1.0:0 --output "output" "input"

The Output has 4 ref frames ,subme 8, etc and not the preset slower Adjustments/Values

When i want use a preset only i have to press "Preset Settings" in misc to reset the cmd to preset Settings ,right ?

About 1:

If you don't chose a specific preset at the command line, "the default preset" will be loaded first. All detailed options will alter only details of a previously prepared preset -- either an explicitly selected, or the default one = "medium" (so if you select the preset "medium", this doesn't need to be specified in the command line).

About 2:

If you made up a command line manually, you should first specify a preset (and a tuning), and then alter only those options you want to differ from that preset (regarding the order of command line options). Mixing them wildly might lead to unexpected results -- because you (not x264) may get confused about which options get overridden or not and when. The MeGUI should be able to simplify the command line accordingly to specify explicitly only such options which differ from a base preset (and tuning).

Thanks to Richard Berg, I can upload files on megui.org now...I'll make an update asap. My own webpage will be probably dedicated to the MeGUI kbr builds.

Should users who have added your free.fr repository alongside the megui.org repository delete the former? Might we encounter any version conflicts?

Kurtnoise

my own branch doesn't use megui.org files. So, yes you have better to remove this link to avoid conflicts...:)

So for future updates, just to make sure, which URL should we use for updating? As currently I have the free.fr added.

if you don't like to live on the edge, remove free.fr and use megui.org...

I got a mpeg2 in .ts that I want to encode in xvid (.avi) and vbr mp3. The encode goes well, but when the muxing starts, avimux gui crashes with no aparent reason.
I am using the xvid fast preset, latest megui with all the apps updated. OS win7. Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/m43b4bd7d
Any idea how to fix it? Or another muxer that I should try?

Hi folks , my megui used to work great untill last few days , its has started to give me this strange audio error.
what i have gathered is that neroAAC codec doesnt support 5 channel audio , but previously i never had any issues.
whats the solution, i have ac 3 acm codec , ac3 filter, lame acm mp3 codec installed mp2 pcm codec installed.
if i need to install that Nicplugin , then where i should put it .
here is the log

Since there is still no Calculator for M2TS (AVCHD/Blu-Ray) output.
I made my own calculator.

Itīs easy, itīs made in Excel....but as much as I tested it...it worked.
You may try it out yourself.

Here you can get it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1AETBD9D

Tell me (preferably via PM) what you think, sugguest.

But is 2008 September 17th, the Nero AAC Codec 1.3.3.0 must work without problem for 2.0 and 5.1 channels.

oops, didn't notice. Then it's simply strange.
AAC encoding does work at my work PC, but doesn't at home.

Just my latest experience: I've done a fresh Install of megui on a secondary PC and therefore downloaded the installer from the sourceforge side (not under files, but the default front-page download). Then I installed that and updated it (ie. downloaded the additional files). But thereafter encoding in x264 failed due to an unknown parameter --rc-lookahead. Ok, I think most of you know what was wrong by now.
I then reinstalled the package and actually looked at the information on the update page -> core: existing V. 0.3.1.1056 vs. latest V. 0.3.1.1051.
Ok, replacing the default server with Kurtnoise ones went fine, but without that being a topic in recent posts here I would never have figured that one out. And now I am asking me how a fresh user would deal with the situation. Shouldn't the default download be compatible with the served files from the pre-configured update sides, especially as the additional files are not placed within the installer?

P.S.: Is that outdated profiles and from scratch should be used discussion also valid for the 0.3.1.1051 Version, or just for the leading-edge branch?

So, if anyone interested, I've found the source of my problem ("Could not open AAC encoder" message in log): ffdshow was configured to mix audio into 5.0 and that what confused neroAacEnc. I turned mizer off and all went well.

Downloaded the latest MeGUI 1056, as the previous 1052 seemed to have stopped autoupdating.

I want to use the AVCHD preset, but there's something confusing about the encoding options. If Advanced Settings is not selected, it's this:

program --profile high --level 4.1 --preset fast --pass 2 --bitrate 8000 --stats ".stats" --thread-input --output "output" "input"

However, if I do select Advanced, it's this:

program --profile high --level 4.1 --preset fast --pass 2 --bitrate 8000 --stats ".stats" --thread-input --deblock 0:0
--keyint 24 --min-keyint 2 --bframes 3 --b-adapt 2 --direct auto --b-bias 0 --scenecut 40 --ref 3 --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1
--vbv-bufsize 16500 --vbv-maxrate 16500 --qcomp 0.5 --rc-lookahead 40 --no-mbtree --aq-mode 1 --aq-strength 1.0
--merange 16 --me umh --subme 7 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --trellis 1 --psy-rd 1.0:0 --mvrange 511
--nal-hrd --sar 1:1 --output "output" "input"

Which one is the true AVCHD preset?

florinandrei
4th October 2009, 08:10
Well, 1056 crashes x264-build1183 anyway with the AVCHD preset.

Standard error stream: C:\Program Files\megui\tools\x264\x264.exe: unrecognised option `--rc-lookahead'

Uninstall, back to 1052.

Look 6-7 posts before yours ... that's have been discussed lots of times in this thread ;)

Re: AVCHD, I'd go with the one you get by ticking "advanced settings"; you could also try encoding a small clip in both ways ("advanced" selected or not) and checking the actual encoding options used, they'll be written in the files themselves and you can check them out with (for instance) AVInaptic.

@rockstar283: it may be that some of the tools are not up to date; check if the autoupdate servers are set link in here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1330536#post1330536).

Got a general question about the MeGui x264-profiles: (background: want to import them in sx264)
the x264-profiles got two relatively new nodes:
<x264Preset></x264Preset>
and
<x264Tuning></x264Tuning>
and I'm wondering if I need to react to these. ;)
So my question is:
Does MeGui keep the profile consistent in such a way that when importing the two nodes are not really needed?

talen9: But switching from the "stable" branch from megui.org to kurtnoise ones.... (yes, I myself am wondering why there where so many questions/posts after my described experience on last page....) would that really be a recommendation?

As far as I have understood it, you either stick to one side or the other, but having both in your update list could provoke some problems, or am I wrong on this one? Besides, *.1051 looks pretty stable and robust to me, and if it wouldn't be for me installing the default download *.1056 -> I would not have asked why *no updates* so far.... they are there in their own time... So I am working on 2 PCs right now with both, and for my concerns... I am not perceiving any differences in my encodes and so I guess the difference lies in the parameters that are used by those who are experimental and testing, and not by any 08/15 user like me. If I would care about such differences I would have to encode my old lame -r3mix again to get them in the same preset extreme range I used later, or the Nero AAC q 0.5 range I am using now. And thats always puzzling me about those update questions, they often sound like all old encodes have become worthless..

Maybe I shouldn't have to be asking myself only about fresh users but also about used to procedure users as well?

But maybe this situation arose the question if by chance the update procedure could be updated? Something like a update and version txt that is displayed via the server? I was always missing something like a *changelog* for that, so maybe just a reminder or some announcement wich files become obsolete via an update (profiles in particular) and what may have changed?

Bad encode on Thinner DVD, with huge black bars around the image, so I'm cropping & encoding to h264.

I'm using Kurtnoise branch, up to date as of today: core, data & libs 0.3.1.1056, avswrapper 0.3.1.1006, updates from his server. I'm on Windows 7 x64 RTM.

When I enable MPEG2 deblocking, I get yellow & blue dots, greet lines going diagonally across the image.

In this case, the most important thing is to post a logfile...with this, I can check what did you use.

Moreover, megui is coded in C# not C++. So, your problem is maybe related to an external application used by megui (an encoder/muxer compiled through visual studio) or not...
