Hi,

I'm trying to convert some .avis to .mp4. They have two different soundtracks (two languages) and I want to add these soundtracks to the .mp4. Unfortunately I did not find a way to automatically add both soundtracks in MeGui. I always had to demux the .avi per hand before the whole encoding process. Is there a way to tell MeGui to add all the possible audio tracks to the file?

Thanks a lot! Great program by the way ;)

I think I have tried everything- uninstalled MeGUI, restarted, freshly installed meGUI and updated MeGUI again- online. Reinstalled AVISynth last stable version. Checked carefully and found that TIVTC.dll is there in the AVISynth plugins directory.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5411/meguierrorhf0.png

Whenever I try to analyze the source I always get this error.

Please give me a solution for this :(

Here is my system spec:
MeGUI Version : 0.3.0.3005
OS : Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 (5.1.131072.2600)
Framework used : 2.0 (2.0.50727.42)
Hardware
CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz

Please help :(

It may be the version of TITVC.dll my avisynth plugin has version 1.0.5.0 and this version is working. You might have version 0.9.9.3 this may be causing the error.

Latest version here http://avisynth.org.ru/docs/english/externalfilters/tivtc.htm

actually it's not possible. as you have found, you have to demux the tracks manually.

Serious memory management issue with preview window.
1. After close the preview window, megui won't completely release the memory used, about 60MB would remaining in working set every time you open and close a preview window.
So after queuing several jobs, the working set of megui would reach the limit of 32bit app, thus couldn't open avs script any more.(ran out of memory warning)

2. When playing video in preview window, the working set of megui would quickly increase and reach the limit. A big X would be displayed in preview window afterwards.

Sorry, the problem is not resolved. Sharktooth could you please help us to resolve this issue? even if I hit the Abort button, the analysis continues indefinitely and I need to hit the abort button a number of times. :(

well... it works here. also why you "have" to hit the abort button several times?
one is enough... it will abort "as soon as possible" (that doesnt mean immediately).

Unfortunately it does not work here.

Secondly, if I leave it hitting the abort button once, it generally continues indefinitely showing "Analyzing" at the bottom.

Problem 2: There is one more problem I am facing while trying to encode in Xvid. MeGUI simply stops at this window:

Problem 3: As I close MeGUI, I find it to be running at the background as I check the task manager. I need to "End Task" from Task Manager to shut it down.

For problem 1: Check to see if it's an Avisynth problem. Have you tried playing the avs script with and without the call to TIVTC. Try using LoadPlugin.

For problem 2: Xvid sucks. Use x264.

For problem 3: See 1 & 2.

I have tried to reinstall AviSynth but that did not solve the problem.

For problem 2: Xvid sucks. Use x264.

Generally I do not prefer to enter in a debate, but this is not a solution, and if I remember correctly I requested for a solution. Still, let me humbly remind you XviD is still the only available MP4 codec (including DivX) which can be played in stand alone players. Where X264 being AVC (MP4 rev 10) are yet to become a de facto inclusion in stand alone players. So sometimes XviD is the only MP4 choice one has.

For problem 3: See 1 & 2.

yes..

however, from the log it seems megui couldnt stop ffmpeg so it couldnt delete the file coz it was still in use.

thanks... i've got confused because of:

xvid_encraw built at 10:22:53 on Aug 31 2007
and i guess, that only .dll is updated.. so i assume VAQ is turned On by default(as i can remember)

I'm converting some Handycam DVD's to my mediacenter using MeGui. I'm using 264 in a .mkv container.

I selected all the titles one-by-one using the oneclick encoder, and I will merge them in MKV merge.

searching the forum I only find suggestions when only a single title needs to be converted.....

Is there a way to select/queue all the titles at once?
Or do you have other suggestions to handle my DVD's? (23 DVD's still to go...)

Thanks a lot!

Would it be easier to merge your DVD's first (e.g. 1 big vob or .mpg either per disc, or in total)? e.g. videoredo, mpg2cut2, avidemux

Or did you want separate files?

Hello people. I just have a quick question and am hoping someone could answer it for me.
Since one of the newer builds of MeGUI, there is no longer a X264 IP Intermediate. I am simply wanting to know what profile is the equivalent of it that I can use instead? I have a backup of the IP intermediate profile, but MeGUI just doesn't want to load it anymore.

Thanks in advance.

(I posted this message in the other thread, but i think this one is more appropriately suited).

merging DVD's is an option, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it simple and fast in MeGui.
didnt find it so far, but MeGui is probably full of hidden shortcuts ;)

(btw when merging DVD's it would be nice if the chapters get autogenerated. dunno if there's a program that does that.)

Hi guys.. this is my first question here, please forgive my poor english as I'm not native english.

I'm having problem with my avi encoded using Megui (0.3.0.3004) which always muxing my avi as Multipart openDML, even when the file is normal size (no bigger than 2g). My standalone divx player has problem playing this kind of file - they only play 5-10 second before exiting. Mind that my player can handle most xvid / divx playback even with gmc/qpel/packed bitstream (its a sunplus sphe8202L), except multipart opeDML.

Gspot report:

File Length Correct
Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts), "rec list" style
(379 frames in first part, 8482 frames follow)
Interleave: 1242 ms (37.2 v.frames), preload=208
Audio frames: Aligned on interleaves

I'm currently using Xvid4PSP as an alternative. Please help.

Thank you jeffy for your reply. I shall surely try it and let you know.
Though I must mention that if I convert any file to X.264 then there seems to be no problem at all.

I have been using MeGui with good results for quite some time, and have just started to try BD backups to BD-5. I use the AVC-HD profile by Sharktooth, and quality turns out amazing, but the time to convert on my core-2 duo 2.5GHZ can be quite long. So rather than run the automated 2-pass, which can take 24hrs plus I tried the 2 pass, first pass and let that run overnight, and then switch to 2-pass, 2nd pass for the next night to complete the encode. Though this seems to work, I noticed the profile changes when I select the 2 pass, first pass button. Under the RC and ME tab and advanced tab, several options/values change and/or are greyed-out. Is this normal ? Total encode times are also shorter than when automated 2 pass is selected, which leads me to believe the profile changes are not providing the higher quality settings. Anyone else notice this ? Is this AVC-HD profile only meant for the automated 2 pass setting ? Any advice or input will be much appreciated. Thanks.

AviMux, which is what MeGUI uses for AVIs saves it's settings between sessions, so if you start it up manually from the tools folder and deselect any OpenDML options before encoding with MeGUI that may do the trick.

@Invy: that preset does no longer exist coz it has no sense. if yuo aim at a certain bitrate, use a 2pass preset, if you aim at a certain quality use a constant quality (CRF) preset.

@stony8: megui doesnt provide editing functions. you can however "merge" the sources using an avisynth script.

@mangkook: improving standalones compatibility is on my todo list. that include VBV parameters for xvid and compatible avi muxing.

@Capsbackup: when you switch mode from auto 2-pass to 2pass 1st pass, if Turbo is checked, some options will be disabled AND some other will be not available. after encoding the first pass, when you switch to 2pass 2nd pass, you have to re-enable all the disabled options for the 2nd pass . It's not a recommended procedure... but you can re-download the megui presets, select what one you want to use and create two new ones with a different name (mayba append "1st pass" and "2nd pass" to the name or whatever...) but with the same options. after that, modify the 1st copy and select 2pass 1st pass, modify the 2nd copy and select 2pass 2nd pass. when you run the 1st pass, select the 1st pass preset... for the 2nd pass, obviously, select the 2nd pass preset.

I've been looking for some kind of option in AviMuxGui:

settings > output > Avi file structure,

use OpenDML output=checked
standard indices per stream=auto

should I checked.. 1 per RIFF list OR 1 per xxxx frames for compatibility?

@Sharktooth. glad to hear that..!

*edit*

i just tested with several option and still getting multipart openDML

May I suggest FFDShow and Haali Media Splitter?

Install ProResDecoderSetup.exe from Apple

To specify video in avisynth

QTInput("File.mov") or DirectShowSource("File.mov")
ConverttoYV12()

The audio is sowt, so you can enable "raw" audio in ffdshow audio decoder , set to 16-bit integer , then you can use DirectShowSource() as well for the audio

Hi, thanks for help :)
(but unfortunely that's doesn't work, yet i hoop so)

So i have make this :
- dl and install apple prores decoder windows.
- in megui, try to input video .mov but no succes, try to write in script preview but unwritable if i dont load video.
- try to write in the Avs file (with notepad), like this :
QTInput("C:\Projet\Trailer_ProRes.mov")
#deinterlace
#crop
LanczosResize(768,432) # Lanczos (Sharp)
#denoise
ConvertToYV12()
- the program says to me : error in aviscript line 1, qt input line command no exist.
- so i DL qt input avisynth plugin, i put in plugin folder avisynth plugin
- i try again : the avs file is accepted but when i put "in queue" there is the message "acces violation"
- so i dl and install ffdshow mpeg4 (last version)
- i try in megui avisynth script creator and now i have :
"The file directshow source cannot be opened.

Any ideas ?^^
Thanks for help :thanks:

I'm using MeGui to convert Avi movies to MP4 for my PSP. So I configure the AVS script, here it is:

AVISource("D:\movie.avi", audio=false)
#deinterlace
#crop
LanczosResize(480,272) # Lanczos (Sharp)
#denoise

I use the x264: PSP-180 as the Encoder setting (profile) it looks like this:

program --pass 2 --bitrate 320 --stats ".stats" --level 2.1 --bframes 1 --weightb --direct auto --filter -1:-2 --subme 2
--partitions none --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --output "output" "input"

then I select the same avi file as my audio input, I'm using Nero AAC as my audio encoder. I sent the video & audio to the Queue, once it's finished I Mux the two files, the problem is that it's always out of Sync.

How can I solve this?

@seb37_2 - I just tried it with 0.3.0.3006, all updates, xp32 and QTInput() works for me. Perhaps there is something peculiar with your source? Can you upload a sample to a free hosting site? Are you on Vista?

@MovieDude - is it a progressive sync issue or constant sync issue (same audio & video lengths - check with mediainfo) ? Enter the delay in the muxer if it is a constant sync issue (you can figure out the +/- ms delay in a media player, usually by using +/- keys)

It's a constant sync issue

Video Duration: 6848.263333 s
Audio Duration: 6848.432344 s

what do I do now?

MovieDude - figure out the exact delay in a media player; press play and sync it (usually it's the +/- keys to shift the audio) Write down that number. If you are using .mkv, enter that number in mkvmergegui for the delay. If you are using .mp4 enter that number for the delay in YAMB.

I used the +/- on Media Player Classic. I think the delay is about -1030ms. Going to try and mux it up now ;)

Thanks again for the help Poison :)
Iam not on vista, i think the file have no problem (appleprores perfectly works).
I have all unstall and re unstall all. The strange thing is now :
My avs in c:, file are in c:
QTInput("C:\Res.mov")
#deinterlace
#crop
LanczosResize(768,432) # Lanczos (Sharp)
#denoise
ConvertToYV12()

I could in megui take AVS file (with qt input).
I could encode the mov in X264 (raw) and i have a .264

BUT when i try "auto encode fonction" (with a avi for sound and nero acc) after put "in queue", megui block and i have this :
Your AviSynth clip has the following problem:
Error in AviSynth script:
Evaluate: System exception - Access Violation
(C:\Res.avs, line 1)
Continue anyway?
So i try to make manuelly with mp4box, i hope thats works but its strange i couldn't "auto-encode" with 2 files different, Mov for video, and avi for audio... Any idea with the message of Megui ?

I Muxed up the file in meGUI with the -1030 delay. But it's still out of sync! I don't know what to do :S

@seb37_2 - "autoencode" has almost never worked properly for me in MeGUI, I just mux the streams manually. I don't know what the current status of "autoencode" is in MeGUI

@MovieDude - I don't think the delay works with MeGUI's built in muxer, try using mkvmergegui or YAMB. Also make sure if it's a positive (shifts audio later) or negative delay (shifts audio earlier)

I muxed it with YAMB this time using a delay of -800, I found that value using the +/-, it was 100% in sync, but after the mux it continued out of sync :/

Sorry for the hassle i'm causing

MovieDude, did you get the signs right?

Another method is use avidemux (I'm assuming you are using .mp4 container)

1) Open your .mp4 video
2) Set Video and Audio sidebars to "copy"
3) Checkmark shift under the audio, enter "800" (since a negative delay is a positive shift), press enter
4) Set Format to "mp4"
5) Press save with extension (e.g. "myfile.mp4")

I did this and on the program I had to use a delay of -673, I saved it but still out of sync. Damn this is getting real hard. Many thanks for your help though, I really appreciate it

@seb37_2:
Give us the link to the trailer and we will see what we can do.
Is there something special in this *.mov's?
All mov and hdmov files got decoded and encoded well on my side.
Just using this simple avs script:

DirectShowSource("F:\Test\Test.mov")

Yes of course, ffdshow as decoder and haali as splitter...

How do I tell MeGUI to copy subtitle streams from a Vob when converting to MP4/MKV?

I would prefer if I could choose more than one set of subtitles (e.g forced & full or English & French) and be able to select which subtitle stream to view when playing the movie. The goal is to archieve my old DVDs to a Home Media Server.

Thanks!

you cant. you must extract the subtitles and covert them in a suitable format for the container you're going to use, for example, TTXT (or srt since they will be automatically converted to TTXT) for MP4, srt, ass, etc for MKV, or keep them as an external file.
