When loading M2V streams without any audio DV2 Creator hangs while it reads though the entire file (a couple of minutes for 6-7GB file) looking for audio tracks. Is there any way of disabling this 'feature'?
I was just going to ask the same question as this. Tools/DGIndexer/D2V Creator (and DGM Creator) hangs for a long time when opening an elementary stream (presumably looking through the whole file for audio tracks). Open an MPG with audio and it finds them instantaneously.
Any way that this can be shortened, perhaps by limiting how much of the file it searches?
Thanks

Hi:
I've just double-checked the new feature "Keep input resolution (disable Crop & Resize)" in One Click Encoder, now with revision 1020.
The picture is not cropped nor resized, but the aspect ratio is incorrectly passed to x264 or to muxer, and in the final file aspect ratio is wrong.
Here is the log:

Hi:
With revision 1017, it seems that One Click is selecting the correct tracks ( I have to check more, but thanks kurtnoise for fixing this issue).
I usually keep 2 langs, english and spanish
usually english is the first track (80) and spanish is the second or third.
Tracks are demuxed right and muxed into the final mkv.
But the Spanish track is tagged as English and the English track is tagged as Spanish
Seems to work right now with version 1020. Great job!!!:thanks:

Hi:
I am running into several problems when I run vobsub from inside Megui using vobsubber, whereas the result when I use vobsub directly (outside megui) on an IFO file the results are ok.
Here is an example from vobsubber, only 3 sub streams are shown (one english, 2 spanish)
http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/f37060dd2a73f9c4bb99759acc22ec396g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=zytzybjdznm&thumb=4)
When I run directly vobsub, I find 6 streams (2 english, 4 spanish)
http://www3.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/b0e836d9e326e07dc71345eaea0140cf6g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=yz5imyzyykf&thumb=4)
If I run vobsubber, the final idx/sub only contains 3 streams (2 english, one spanish, the first 3 streams from file). Whereas if I run vobsub directly I end with 6 streams
I am adding the IFO file, plus the idx file generated with megui vobsubber + the idx file generated with vobsub.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ditzyubmjz2
I am guessing that the sub streams are somehow paired (maybe wide + letterbox subs), and megui vobsubber joins them as a single stream without remapping them to the correct stream id #
Here is the stream info from DVD Decrypter

Has there been any thought to adding m2ts to bitrate calculations? It would be nice to be able to select subtitles, chapter, and audio when selecting the bitrate for a target size.

it was due to the MediaInfo lib parsing...Now, it's much faster with the latest beta (used in the megui trunk version). Almost +~30% according to Zenitram.

I've been using AviSynth's trim() function to cut clips while keeping the audio synced, and I've been loading these .avs files into the audio part of MeGUI. It worked fine until a little while ago when loading an .avs script started giving me an error saying I'm not passing the correct arguments to the function Audiochannels. It works if I load an audio stream directly as opposed to through an .avs, and I didn't mess around with any of the program's files. I tried being lazy and just reinstalling both MeGUI and AviSynth but that didn't work, so I'm stumped now. The only things I had updated recently were the things in MeGUI's auto update.
Any help would be appreciated.

How do I set bitrate properly?
I was using the profiles x264 2pass HQ (tried both DXVA and unrestricted version) to transcode.
In autoencode, I chose the 2nd option (average bitrate) where usually a number is calculated for each file, so I did not modify that number.
I was sure that the predicted file size was smaller than the original. But the resultant file was far bigger than the predicted file size and it's even bigger than the original. Is there something wrong with this option?
Note: I did not wait for the encode to complete as I noticed the .264 file from 2nd pass became bigger than the original.
And about the 3rd option, I checked the profile settings is only 1000kbps, I think it's too low for HD videos. Is my concept wrong?

you have several options.
the first is to set the bitrate in the autoencode window.
you can also set a filesize if you wish.

I modified the default already.
I guess something's wrong is the 2nd option inside autoencode.
The bitrate set does not limit the file size or being ignored /?

the bitrate option in autoencode overrides what is specified in the preset.
keep in mind, the bitrate set in the auto-encode, includes audio.

Can I request that MeGUI flag a job as aborted, instead of done, when writing out the AVI stream fails due to lack of disk space? I had set something for encoding overnight, and in the morning I looked at the Queue window and it said the status was done, so I thought all was well. It wasn't until much later that I realized that the encoding had aborted due to lack of disk space on the drive, after I noticed that the file size of the encode was wrong, and checked the logs.

I don't care about the Encoding time , so what profile can give me that quality ?

if you dont care of the encoding time go with the "slowest as possible" presets (Insane presets), set your filesize and check the resulting encoding.

I find that MeGUI's automatic source detection is incredibly helpful and saves me a lot of time because it is nearly always correct. I have an NTSC DVD here that MeGUI detects as a hybrid of film and video (mostly film) with varying field order while the whole program stream is flagged as interlaced, top field first. I believe that MeGUI is correct and that there are a lot of hard telecined sections, but how do I view them? In other words, is there somewhere I can access a text list of sections (by frames or timecodes) of areas that MeGUI detects as either film or video? If not, is this planned for the new "zones" feature Kurtnoise posted about the other day? Thanks.
Kurtnoise
21st March 2009, 10:12
you cannot view them because megui uses a temp script to analyse some portions of your video...
and it's not planned to detect such things into zones...

@wolfreborn: if the .avs is not being rendered then the problem is not on the megui's side.
fix your filters chain (that means, install the appropriate decoders) until the .avs gets rendered by a directshow media player or graphedit/graphstudio.
once you manage to do that, megui will correctly work.

DirectShow and VFW are two ways in which video programs open files, to simplify things.
Is MeGUI's AVS Script Creator using AviSource? If so, then you don't have a Lagarith Video For Windows (vfw) decoder installed and you must install one.
The reason the script didn't work in MPC might be that you also don't have a DirectShow Lagarith decoder installed. The reason could also be that you haven't allowed ffdshow or an equivalent to do YV12 decoding. If the script fails in MeGUI using DirectShowSource in the AVS Script Creator, the problem is that you don't have a Directshow Lagarith decoder installed.
I have never used Lagarith so I don't know what sort of decoders are available. I would check the author's site and verify that both a VFW and Directshow decoder are available.

May I ask how the MEGui Source Analyzer works to detect Progressive/Interlaced material (Or which tool it uses for that) ?
Because, StaxRip and latest MediaInfo both state the source is interlaced, and the Megui source analyzer says it's progressive ?
I'm still using StaxRip to encode because of it's great Compressability Check.
I've filed a feature request (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2682373&group_id=156112&atid=798479).
Think it's not that hard to implement, since it's based on some special crafted avisynth filter, and some calculations.
Once this great feature is there, MeGui is my No1. :)

Could someone explain or point me in the right direction about the new DGA Project Creator in meGUI? I have an mkv with x264 video and ac3 audio I want to transcode and this seems to be the way to do that, but when I try it, it fails immediately and just says "error".
DGA Project Creator is not a tool to transcode files. It's mainly an indexer for AVC streams and a tool which is able to extract audio streams from your input.
With it, you create a dga file to use it afterward via an avisynth script for example.
