I have been encoding Bluray movies for the last 3 years. This never happened to me before. I have all the codecs & avisynth 2.5.8 installed in my pc. I always encoded with automated 2pass mode. now when i encode any video 1st pass starts & it goes well. suppose that video has 150000 frames. In 1st pass Megui encodes for 149900 frames then it suddenly stops & it never goes beyond 149900 frames & 2nd pass doesn't start. This happens with all the videos not just one particular Video. I have tried to Encode those videos with crf & didn't find any problem with it. So what's the solution for this problem. Can any one help plz.

Please post the log and also please try to run the x264 command line directly (without MeGUI) - do you have then the same problem?

I don't see where I can change the analyse parameter in the config of the x264 profile. So how can I tell MeGUI/x264 to use analyse = 0x3:0x113 ?

The analyse parameters are available in the advanced x264 encoder configuration; but MeGUI offers checkboxes for different "Macroblock partitions". I can't tell you which bitmask will be equal to which set of check marks. But most probably it should match one of the most usual presets related to Main or High profile (Default or All); High allows 8x8 Adaptive DCT in addition to Main.

Post your log file, please. I assume that the mediainfowrapper.dll in the root of the MeGUI folder is outdated.

I cannot try to reproduce the combination DGIndexNV + DVD in the next days on my own. Nevertheless - what kind of files are in H:\g\ELBOW_BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA\ntidihn0.ydx? Especially I would like to know if the audio file for track 160 (PCM) is available and with which name.

Also I cannot find the information at the moment if DGIndexNV is able to demux PCM tracks from VOB files.

This DVD has 3 audio tracks, and although I deleted two in the OC dialog, all three were demuxed (whenever I click to edit some template, the deleted audio tracks appeared again) - therefore I have 2 AC3s and one WAV ("VTS_01_1.dgi Ta0 48K 16bit 2ch.wav" - so DGIndexNV can demux PCMs) files in the directory, along with the AVS, DGI, QPF, 4 VOBs.

The analyse parameters are available in the advanced x264 encoder configuration; but MeGUI offers checkboxes for different "Macroblock partitions". I can't tell you which bitmask will be equal to which set of check marks. But most probably it should match one of the most usual presets related to Main or High profile (Default or All); High allows 8x8 Adaptive DCT in addition to Main.

I did a few test encodes and the Default preset(p8x8,b8x8,i8x8,i4x4 and Adaptive DCT) gives analyse = 0x3:0x113.

I've used MeGUI with a screen capture and PCM audio. The muxed output MP4 has no audio. Aften and ffmpeg will create a stereo AC3 file at 128k and 22050 which match the original PCM source. I tried to mux that audio with the MeGUI-created video using mkvmerge. End result is a muxed file but the audio does not play because it is unrecognized. MeGUI's muxer drops the audio file, writing only the video portion.

Is there a required audio sampling rate? Do I need to resample? If so, is mono supported?

Here it is. There is a statement about a decode error with the audio file but the entire source was encoded to ac3 by aften and will play. This was a webcast and there were a couple of drop outs. That shouldn't affect the structure of the source file, though.

AC3 don't support 22050 samplerate, but Aften convert a wav file with this samplerate to 44100 and create a valid AC3 file that is not recognized by MediaInfo.

Hello,

I am using MeGUI to encode 6 multiple bit rate MP4 files to use them on adaptive streaming. I am creating 150k, 300k, 500k, 800k, 1200k and 1800k variants.

150k, 300k, 500k and 800k variants use the same resolution.

1200k and 1800k will use different resolution.

My current steps:

1. Get the source .VOB file from the DVD.

2. Create AVISynth script for 500k - First pass. This stats file is used as input for 150k, 300k, 500k and 800k second pass, so that I can get same key frame settings.

3. Create AVISynth script for 1200k - First pass. This stats file is used as input for 1200k and 1800k.

4. Encode Audio into 48k and 128k.

5. Mux Audio & Video.

Is there any easy way of doing the above steps automatically? Currently, after creating 500k first pass stas, I need to copy and create new files with the same names as 150k, 300k, 800k. Similarly for 1800k.

I tried with Windows Task Scheduler to copy the files automatically. But, had few issues (some times) while copying the stats files if the video duration is very small (500k second pass finishes fast and the 150k pass will be looking for 150k stats, which is not yet created by task scheduler).

Also, I created different X264 profiles to add the above bit rate encoding to the Queue manually.

AC3 don't support 22050 samplerate, but Aften convert a wav file with this samplerate to 44100 and create a valid AC3 file that is not recognized by MediaInfo.

A sample:
I tried ffmpeg to make the AC3 and had the same issue. So...what to do? Resample to 44100 then encode to AC3 with BeSweet?

update: BeSweet failed so I resampled to 44100 in VirtualDub and saved as a WAV then encoded with MeGUI and muxed. Final result works.

Perhaps MeGUI should be modified to only allow supported bitrates.

Hi,

Replace current MediaInfo library by the one available from this package (http://www.mediafire.com/?d8ibcz67kr49l3h). Choose the one for your platform (x86 or x64)...and retry an encoding. That should be ok now.

Can someone please help me understand why the log is now warning that Haali Matroska Muxer and Haali DSS2 are not installed? I'm not aware of them ever being installed in the past, and I assume they're not required or they'd be included in the MeGUI updates. Would like to know if I can safely ignore the warning, or need to get them onboard. Thanks.

They are only required for people who prefer processing media formats not well supported by FFMS2 (like M2TS directly, instead of remuxing that to MKV first). Therefore it is just a "Warning", nothing which keeps you from continuing.

P.S.: Haali Matroska ... "Muxer"? Not "Splitter"?

Yes, it says "Haali Matroska Muxer". I initially though "Haali Media Splitter" too, which I don't have installed currently.

So my usual format of IFO/VOB's from DVD Decrypter is not affected by and/or wouldn't benefit from these missing components?

No, they are "nice to have" for specific cases, but DVD Video can be processed with PGCDemux and DGMPGDec/FFMS2 only.

No, it is the splitter. Will be renamed in one of the next builds. Without the splitter some functions in FFMS or eac3to may not work - also DSS2 will not be supported.
It is not possible to add it to the updater as it must be installed.

I just installed Haali Media Splitter / Matroska Splitter from http://haali.su/mkv/ and MeGUI is no longer showing a warning for the 2 items in the log.

Does that sound correct Zathor?

Though I'm really wondering about eac3to using Haali for demuxing. I think it's only for mkv muxing.

There seems to be a bug regarding mod16 option in AviSynth script creator.
The option only affects vertical resolution and not horizontal one.
For example, source with 1284x544 downsized to SD resolution gives 724x304.
304 is mod16 but 724 is not.
I need to adjust it manually to 720.

I don't remember if XviD can decompress using MeGUI x64. Because I have this error:

Usualy when we have this it's because we don't have the correct splitter and/or codec to decode. but I have both ffdshow + haali installed. I use also megui x86 and of course there is no problem to decompress xvid only with megui x64.
What to think ? Thx

Your AviSynth script uses the filter AVISource. This filter opens AVI files with the "Video for Windows" API. To decompress Xvid video, it requires a VfW codec installed for decompressing video with the FourCC 'xvid'; a DirectShow decoder filter will not help here.

You may a) enable Xvid decompression in your ffdshow VFW Configuration (yellow icon); b) install the Xvid codec; c) use FFmpegSource2 instead of AviSource in your script.

Because you are using MeGUI 64bit, you may have issues accessing VfW as it is a 16/32 bit API; support in 64 bit address mode may have been deprecated. Therefore, solutions a) and b) may not be available for you.

Hi just did the upgrade and now MeGui is not muxing mkv(encoding is fine)
Worked just fine before.

1.mkv + 2.mkv + 3.mkv doesn't work, I used mkvmerge gui 5.9.0

Warning: The track number 0 from the file 'H:\HD3.mkv' can probably not be appended correctly to the track number 0 from the file
'H:\HD1.mkv': The codec's private data does not match (lengths: 41 and 41). Please make sure that the resulting file plays correctly the
whole time. The author of this program will probably not give support for playback issues with the resulting file.

It happens when i use the pre-rendering job: it doesn't show any error but when i open the muxed video file (mkv), the file is incompleted and the audio is out of synch. However i solved renaming the backup of ffindex in the folder of megui :)

I am not able to reproduce this. Please post the "Versions" part of your log file. If you can reproduce it with a small file < ~200 MB then please also upload this file. And it may be required that you file a bug report at https://code.google.com/p/ffmpegsource/issues/list
