Doesn't look like anyone has reported this bug yet.
Starting with rev 2144 I have had trouble with the audio portion of WMV files using one click processing.
I get the following error:
---[Error] [5/1/2012 12:01:59 PM] Exception message: starting job failed with error 'Required file 'G:\To Process\Test - [0].WMA.unknown' is missing.'
---[Error] [5/1/2012 12:01:59 PM] Stacktrace: at MeGUI.core.gui.JobWorker.startEncoding(TaggedJob job)
---[Error] [5/1/2012 12:01:59 PM] Inner exception: null
The file is there, but it looks like the ".unknown" is being mistakenly appended to the end of the filename?
Happens with all the .WMV files I have, but not other formats (eg .mkv or .mp4)

After muxing the audio with the avi, that 'error' will disappear.
You can erase aviwriter.dll if you use xvid 1.3.2.
It is not needed.

Download MeGUI (latest stable - http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/files/latest) and extract it to a new and empty directory. Does it still not open?

Yeps i did that, and yes its still not starting
Try to watch the processes e.g. using ProcessExplorer while starting it. It happened to me once that the .NET compiler kept starting over and over.
I keep on getting an error while trying to encode Planet Terror. No other movies give me any problems. I've tried re-ripping the movie with dvd decrypter and dvdfab. Makes no difference.
This is the error portion of the log
[Error] [5/1/2012 8:22:12 PM] An error occurred: avs4x264 [info]: "C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\x264\x264_64" - --level 4.1 --tune film --pass 1 --bitrate 2510 --stats "D:\Rips To Encode\Planet Terror\MainMovie\PLANET_TERROR\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.stats" --keyint 240 --zones 143350,151848,q=40 --sar 1073:880 --output NUL --frames 151849 --fps 24000/1001 --input-res 704x464 --input-csp i420
I've tried different crop settings, nothing changes it. Same error every time. Using the latest development version of megui with all updates (this happened in older versions as well).

Try to watch the processes e.g. using ProcessExplorer while starting it. It happened to me once that the .NET compiler kept starting over and over.
I cant see anything suspicious in ProcessExplorer... is there a way to check if my .NET framework is installed correct?
Please post the full log. The error message appears to be missing.
Here's the full log, thanks!

@ Penecho:
"Nothing suspicious" means that the MeGUI process is just terminated right after starting, without spawning sub processes for a while? Explain as detailed as you can what you discover.

Here's the full log, thanks!
I do not see a specific error message in your log - and that is quite strange. Usually there is a line with the exit code or something like that.
Can you please disable the usage of the 64bit x264 in the MeGUI settings and give this a try?

That seems to have fixed it. It made it through the first pass, 2nd one is running now. Thanks!
I wonder why the 64bit doesn't work...

Hi, I'm looking for some clarification just what the film tuning preset does in MEGUI. I have been encoding source material from DVD pretty well with the tuning set to Default. I tried out the film tuning and im still on the fence as to whether to use it or not. It seems to do a good job of capturing as much detail as possible for facial features etc but I have seen it also sacrifice detail of some other scenes like backgrounds etc.
Here is command line ive been using.
program --profile main --level 3 --preset slow --tune film --pass 2 --bitrate 3000 --stats ".stats" --keyint 21 --min-keyint 11 --qpmin 10 --qpmax 51 --vbv-bufsize 2000 --vbv-maxrate 2500 --colorprim bt470bg --transfer bt470bg --colormatrix bt470bg --output "output" "input"
Any response is appreciated

I just tested it also with XP SP3 and was able to use the file indexer with a MKV file. Please try older MeGUI builds like the last stable build.

Do you have the same problem when opening the AVS file with VirtualDub? What happens when you remove the mentioned filter?

Force LC with 128 Kb/s for a 6 channels audio.
If you want LC use at least VBR quality 0.35.
If you want 128 Kb/s use HE.
Thanks a bunch Teb
sorry for replying so late , actually i got busy and just couldnt do anything at all. just this morning started to look into pending hobby work ;)
anyways , i am gonna try the HE 128kbps this time and see how this goes ,
there is one more problem that i always face whenever i try and encode any Audio file , more often than not nero HE aac profiles give me a very very low volume of the output audio,
Its annoying coz every time i encode something for my iTouch i have to increase the volume by default in the video settings ,
face the same issue all over as well.
what chaages can i do to have a decent volume level in the audio
at tyhe moment i use 64 kb/s levels for my audio
with
Directshow
downmix multi to stereo
sample rate : keep original
apply dynamic range compression
and normalize peaks to 100
HEAAC profile

Use NicAudio for DTS/AC3 input.
If you use DRC and Normalize 100% you can't have more volume without distort.

Hello friend's
i got some strange problems with megui lately. Evertime i have more than one encode in the queue, it fails after the first encode.
example: automated 2 pass encode. First pass runs through correctly. 2nd pass is extremly slow (0.0005 fps, CPU Load 1%). After i cancel this slow 2nd pass and start it again, it runs fine. ~10fps, 90% - 100% CPU Load). No PC restarts or megui reload. It just runs fine.
2nd example: 2 x automated 2pass. 1st (first movie) runs fine--> 2nd (first movie) runs extremly slow -> CANCEL -> 2nd (first movie) runs fine --> 1st (second movie) runs extremly slow -> CANCEL -> 1st (second movie) runs fine -> 2nd (second movie) runs extremely slow -> CANCEL -> 2nd (second movie) runs fine....
This goes on and on. After one pass runs fine, the following runs extremly slow, no matter if this following is first or 2nd pass. If the following is canceled it runs fine, but the pass after that runs slow.
I deactivated x264_64 but its the same Problem. Doesnt matter if the x264.exe is x86 or x64.
I got some Logs here:

Hi, I got this "Audio Decoding Error" when start indexing..
Thanks for providing a sample file. I can reproduce the problem with your source. The source file seems to be broken (or at least unsupported by ffms). I have remuxed the file with AVIMuxGui (MkvMerge is also working - both are in the tools folder of MeGUI) and the resulting file can be processed.
can i ask about running 2 jobs at once with MeGUI
for instance if i had 2 HD X264 files that i wanted to convert to smaller SD XviD files
would there be ANY quality loss running the 2 xvid.encraw.exe processes on a very fast capable PC?
i know its very capable of doing it and ive done it plenty of times but is there a chance i could get even a small loss in quality?
thanks
The fact that two jobs run in parallel will not harm their quality. The processes are separated.
There is only a risk if you have plugins in both scripts which use shared ressources, e.g. both using a GPU video decoder like DGDecNV. Even if context switching works reliable, it may be quite inefficient to have the decoder chip switch between different video sources at each frame.

Hi guy, i have an error with audio encoding since the last update.
...
---[Error] [26/05/2012 16:37:45] Exception message: FFAudioSource: ReadPacket unexpectedly failed to read a packet
...
Seems a corrupt source (maybe from a TV capture).
FFAudioSource fails if the source is not perfect.
Try with other free tools: Foobar2000, BeHappy-BassAudio or command line decoder/encoder (from http://www.rarewares.org/ )
faad -b 2 -w "input.aac" | Lame -b 128 - "output.mp3"

ok thank i try this
EDIt: i find a solution, i replace FFMS2.avsi, ffms2.dll, ffmsindex.exe by those in ffms2-r624.7z and the errior disapear so it's seems it's the update of ffms who give me the error.

Your sample is Ok for a AAC-HE 49 Kb/s.
Maybe your player don't support AAC-HE.

I had a problem with the latest FFMS as well.
After updating, and indexing the movie using ffms, I almost completely lost the ability to use the preview window for cuts and zones. Trying to go through the movies would look like it locked up because it would stop updating the frame positioning. When I closed the window, I got an error message saying something about trying to read protected memory or something about corrupt memory (can't remember the exact message). Also, when it did update to the correct frame, it was extremely sluggish.
This was happening on all movies I tried since updating.
Also, once I had my cuts in place and encoded the movies, half the movie was a single frame. The movie just could not encode right.
I went into the tools directory and restored the previous backups for all the FFMS files and got rid of the new version. Now everything is right as rain. Response is fast and updates position correctly, and no more errors. It even seems to index the movies quicker.
I think this ffms release needs to be pulled because it looks like something got broken.

I don't listen nothing special.
Put the time when you listen the popping sound.
What do you expect when convert a DTS 5.1 1509 Kb/s to a AAC-HE 49 Kb/s?
EDIT: See the differences between source, your encode and a encode to AAC VBR q=0.35 Automatic (average bitrate 81 Kb/s)

I've been using MeGUI 2112 (svn) without problems on Windows XP x64 SP2. Suddenly today I get the following error when I open a typical .avs file:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21489814/megui-error1.png
I click "OK" in that window and the video preview window comes up normally. I then dismiss that and set up an automatic encode then I get this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21489814/megui-error2.png
I click for more information and I get this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21489814/megui-error3.png
I click again for more information and I get this (I can paste some of the contents if it helps):
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21489814/megui-error4.png
I tried "re-installing" MeGUI as advised, with new downloads, but it doesn't help.
There are few references to VCOMP100.DLL on the net. There is talk of having to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package, but I didn't have that before so I don't see why I should need it now. In addition XP x64 does not appear on the list of supported operating systems for it. I do have the 2005 and 2008 versions installed.
I don't know what has caused this. The only possibility I can think of is that today my AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition did a "summer update" to version 2012.0.2178.
Any ideas?

@nhope:
Did you try with another source file?
An error on ntdll.dll is mostly a sign of corrupted or non standard file.

@Taurus - Thanks. Yes, I tried lots of different source files and scripts. I got hold of the zip file version of VCOMP100.DLL from here (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?vcomp100) and that got me past the first error message but it still failed at the next hurdle. Also tried uninstalling AVG. Also attempted a system restore from before the AVG update, which it wouldn't do. And now that VCOMP100.DLL has disappeared from my C:\ again. The only other thing I've changed since the last time I used MeGUI is my NVIDIA display driver. I'm very close to installing a TrueImage C:\ image from February.

@nhope:
Did you update variable blur plugin recently? If so, you need to install MSVC++ 2010 SP1 Redist (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328).

@the_weirdo - Not as far as I know. I have been playing around with the latest SEt build of AviSynth 2.6 today, and changing a few plugins around, installing the Dither package etc., but I've set them all back as they were yesterday, as far as I know, and I'm still getting the error.
The fact that two jobs run in parallel will not harm their quality. The processes are separated.
There is only a risk if you have plugins in both scripts which use shared ressources, e.g. both using a GPU video decoder like DGDecNV. Even if context switching works reliable, it may be quite inefficient to have the decoder chip switch between different video sources at each frame.
thank you very much LigH for your reply :)
just to claarify when you say "shared ressources" this would not apply to the same filter/plugin
for instance say i was using a light denoiser on all jobs like
undot/removegrain (this would be okay?)
but using different instances of fft3dGPU (not recommended)
im i right?
thanks

I tracked down the cause of my error described previously (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1576774#post1576774) to a test version of eedi3.dll. More info in this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1577242#post1577242).

9 out of 10 times i cant open the audio with nicaudio while encoding , so i am left with no option but to rencode it using DirectShow and the resultant volume is always so low.
i am using the downmix to stereo option , with dynamic range compression and normalize volume, using directshow as decoder as the rest always fail :P
is there a way out to gain a bit more volume may be

NicAudio does not support all kinds of audio input. Try to compare the audio streams with fail with the one which works, using MediaInfo.

If audio is from DVD you can use NicAudio always.
Extract first the audio tracks with DGIndex (MeGUI -> Tools -> File Indexer)

Not without distort.
You can always:
- Use MeGUI to decode with DRC, downmix to 2.0, Normalize 100% and recode to flac (lossless).
- open the flac with an Audio Editor (Audacity for instance) and modify the volume at your choice.
- recode the modified flac to AAC with MeGUI or other tool.

"Generations ago" ;) we used to handle that with BeSweet, which uses the great Azid AC3 decoder. There you had the choice between AC3 "internal" DRC applied by Azid, or the alternative "Boost" compressor I once donated to BeSweet. Unfortunately, serving AAC encoders from BeSweet was not easy, and now this project is really dead.
I wonder if AviSynth developers might be interested in the algorithms used for the Booster. It is really trivial, applying saturating functions to normalized float samples. Then you could offer Dynamic Range Compression via AviSynth (in MeGUI or BeHappy) just like BeSweet did.
A disadvantage is, of course, that it will distort sound by adding harmonics; but that makes the sound more crisp, so people may even like that.

You can still use BeLight: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1460801#post1460801
Can use NeroAacEnc to output AAC

Long time ago I make some test using the SoxFilter compand with BeHappy:

Hello, I am trying to encode a TV show using megui and x264.
I get this error after a couple of minutes the first pass starts.
"microsoft visual c++ runtime library"
The recording was made using windows media center and i cut and converted(from h264 mpeg4 .wtv to h264 mgep4 .ts) the video using videoredo.
What i ve tried:
Different sources and i had no problem(recorded from other channels) but every recording from this channel gives me that error.
To record directly to .ts using another program - same problem occurred.
Different scripts - failed
Encode the original file without editing - failed
Different x264 guis - failed
Recode to mpeg2 using videoredo and then re-encode to x264 using megui - success
Encode using finalcut - success but took almost 24hours(macbook)
Well, i dont want to recode to mpeg2 and the reencode with megui and i dont want to use my macbook for encoding.
My script:
LoadPlugin("C:\automkv\tools\dgavcindex\DGAVCDecode.dll")
AVCSource("C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\grcz.dga")
Load_Stdcall_Plugin("C:\automkv\tools\yadif\yadif.dll")
Yadif(order=1)
#crop
LanczosResize(1280,720) # Lanczos (Sharp)
LoadPlugin("C:\automkv\tools\avisynth_plugin\UnDot.dll")
Undot() # Minimal Noise
The source file is h264 mpeg4 1440x1080i anamorphic 16:9
Visual library 2005, 2008, 2010 installed. x64 and x86
Any ideas?
Thank you
