mkv2vob: New App to Remux MKV x264/AC3 which play on PS3

well you can try to demux the dts from the mkv... then pop it in DTS to AC3. all you need to do is right click on the DTS2AC3.bat and select edit, and change the bitrate (-b) to 640 and save it.

now run it and you can remux the video and the audio with tsmuxergui and you are all set.
sorry for the newb question..but how do i do that?..is there a program to demux the dts form mkv or what?

How would I transfer the vob back to mkv or m2ts ??

I wanna do this so i can create AVCHD, because some of them need to be converted to 720p\1080p (add bars).
If there's any
program that can add bars to the converted vob??

well first of all who is that IKA..... try downloading Sin City 2005 BluRay 1080p DTS x264 dxva-EuReKA anything by Eureka or that says dxva(DirectX Video Acceleration) is going to work 100%. try to stick to proper groups.

hm i installed the program on a diff laptop and they work great now..audio is better and out of sync is no more..only thing now is there are bars..like widescreen..before there wasnt...but thats alright

Is there a quicker program to re-encode as mkv2vob & Gotsent are taking far too long and the resulting files are showing a smaller video bitrate and they are noticably smaller in size.

Thanks a lot for this nifty program.. I was a Mediacenter user but switched to PS3 recently, so glad I did.. It's a fantastic machine. Your program makes streaming a piece of cake.

Some things on my short wishlist:
- possibilty to set subtitle font size (right now I think, default subs are a little too small and the 'use large subtitles' is too big)
- I've noticed the option Boost AC3/DTS volume seem to distort the output most of the time.. Probably because input volume is too high already. I'd like to see some kind of normalizer function so output has same volume, so it will increase/decrease volume whenever neccesary.

I have always used boost audio with no distortion. The last 2 movies I did had distorted audio a little. I unchecked boost audio and it was MUCH better and more full. On another note I posted this on the main forums but I guess I will post here... can anyone help?

I have done over 100 movies with mkv2vob and it's one of the best programs I have ever used. In minutes I'm watching my 1080p mkv's on my ps3 in amazing quality and surround sound glory.

Unfortunately I have 1 SINGLE video that when I convert, has out of sync audio by about 5 seconds. The source video is perfect and I have tried every single option in mkv2vob in all formats about 10 total conversions and it still is out of sync. The original plays perfect in VLC.


Anyone experience anything like this or know how to help? Thanks!

Most of my mkv movies I have I was downloading for a long time. Lately I picked up a blu-ray player (finally they came down in price) and Have been ripping my own backups to mkv myself. But since it takes so darn long too encode them I usually just download my backups from usenet. I also like to keep my movies in perfect condition so some of the classics I haven't even opened and just download the backup.

Usenet is the most efficient way to grab quality backups. They usually have all the releases pre-encoded with dts or ac3 in both 720 and 1080p. The quality difference between the actual blu-ray and the 1080p rips are almost completely unnoticeable. If I ask 10 people not one can tell the difference.

Torrents are another way but with the size of the files it means a ton of uploading back. I'm also not trying to share releases, and dont encourage torrenting because most of the people are just pirating the movies and If I torrent I'm helping spread them.


I'm not encouraging downloading movies you do not own. This is strictly for BACKUPS. There are tons of reasons to have digital copies of movies. I can stream it to any tv in my house without ever putting in the disc. That reason alone is amazing.


Which is why I'm not too bummed because I have the original I just cant understand what the heck is going wrong on this encode.

you need to be more specific, you start off by saying that you encode the files to avi and you end up saying that files you remux work fine....

are you remuxing to avi or are you encodeing to avi?
does the same problem apear when you encode to other codecs?

I remuxed .mkv with another audio and used audio delay to sync audio, however, mkv2vob lost sync information when i muxed mkvto mpg? Any workaround on this ?

first thing you need to do is make sure that the file you are encoding actually needs to be encoded, mkv2vob has a tendency to give false negatives and encode files it doesnt need to.

try selecting to only remux and see what results you get.

if it works, good. try keeping it in mpg extension when encoding and remuxing. you dont have to, but i kind of like it, and i think the ps3 does too...

99% of 720p videos dont need to be re-encoded.
60% of 1080p files dont need to be re-encoded.

Only downsides are still some problems with DTS ending up as stuttering and juddering audio on some conversions...

There hasn't been an update for a while - does the author still work on this cool utility?

So I'm having a bit of trouble. All the mkv files I remux with this well the resultant files lose audio sync after a certain point in the video.

Hi board. I tried to solve this issue of the video being ahead of the sound on my own. I've download mkvExtrack, hexedit, mkvtoolnix, tsMuxer, Matroska splitter, eac3to, etc. Nothing worked and I've come to the conclusion that the issue lies in mkv2vob changing the frame rate. Now from everything i see there's no option to adjust this in mkv2vob. Is there a way to address this issue?

It's by far the weirdest file. Any reason why it plays without any problems if left along?

When you've used this tool to get an x264 mkv into a vob, how do you get it to play then on media player classic w/ sound. For .mkvs i have ac3filter, ffdshow, and haali and they play fine...but the same file made into a vob w/ mkv2vob has no sound on mpc...

Hey guys, sorry for the noob question but I'm pretty clueless about video stuff - I have a 1080p mkv file with DTS audio that I want to convert to be playable on PS3. mkv2vob has been pretty reliable for me but for some reason my computer blue-screens when I try to convert this file with it. If I wanted to get my hands a little dirtier and try to manually convert the video and audio streams separately before re-muxing them and hopefully not crash my PC in the process, how can I do that?

Edit: I seem to have figured out how to isolate the DTS and convert it to AC3 (is that the preferred format?), so now I have that and the .264 track which I suppose I need to transcode into the MPEG-2 format like mkv2vob does, and then remux into the mpg container that mkv2vob uses. Which programs do I use to do that?

Tsmuxer will do the job for you. Add the .264 track and the .ac3 track and then mux to m2ts. It's a great tool for PS3 owners.

full install package is clean from my antivirus fprot ( up to date ). virus is found on memcoder and mkv2vob when i try to update from "auto-update" web site.

Thats stange because the files on the auto update are exactly the same.
You should probably report it to fprot as a bug and have them check it.

sorry mate, i didn't see your inquiry actually. the mkv is a trailor converted from apple mac a long time ago... for a party reason i need to put it into ps3 to share with a bunch of friends.

and the picture that violated rules has been deleted. hope i did the right thing?
