When playing original MKV using VLC I can select the right subtitle track and I know which number it is

If you know what track it is, you just need to re-create a mkv with the correct track. To do that simply use mkvextract to extract h264, ac3/dts and the correct subtitle track. Then just use mkvmerge to recreate those 3 tracks into a new mkv. Then feed it to mkv2vob as normally. The better would be that mkv2vob supported it nativelly, but since it doesn't...

Still having problem with a 1080p and DTS video file, it comes out with no audio when done. it says it's transcoding the DTS each time but doesn't seem to work (the embedded AC3 is only stereo)

i'm having problems with one of the 1080p files too. mkv3vob goes through the whole process of transcoding and at then end it say "error transcoding" and no output file is generated.

3r1c, with the above mentioned DTS issues, have you ever thought about trying to incorporate another program to do the audio transcoding?

As I've said a few times in this topic, some 720p stuff with DTS will refuse to work on the PS3/in MKV2VOB, unless I manually convert DTS to AC3 myself, and rebuild the MKV.

Now I believe you use the same programs I use to extract the .dts file, and then extract it to 6 mono wav files (mkvextract and Tranzcode 0.4).

However to do the transcoding I think you use BeSweet?

I've used WAV to AC3 Encoder - http://www.thefrontend.net/EncWAVtoAC3/ on any problematic MKVs ive had, then rebuilt and ran through MKV2VOB and they ALWAYS work.

Could you try using WAV to AC3 encoder instead of BeSweet?

Maybe it would fix any issues people have with DTS?

Just a suggestion, not that I know anything about how complicated it is to write/program MKV2VOB :P

Great, thanks, I've tried this once and it works great! Didn't take long either. 2nd time didn't work so well as mkvmerge crashes but that's not mkv2vob problem.

3r1c, the last file i used with DTS i transcoded to xvid/avi, the final file has no audio... but has a audio stream acording to mediainfo. But in my PC i dont get audio but have video, and the PS3 refuses to play the file.

Ahhh fair point.

I'll try taking the problematic MKVs, extracting the video and audio, and then remuxing the MKV.

I'll run it through MKV2VOB afterwards.

Must just be remuxing the MKV that solves something... dunno what though?

I'm getting the same error on every file that need to be transcoded. I think something is broken in the latest version.

Does'nt matter what I throw at it but it fails everytime. DOES anyone have any suggestions or the same problem at all?

You should never Transcode, Loses quality, but one of my Blu-Ray Movies. Rattatouile, ALWAYS wants to transcode and in the end creates a file that's about 300MB?

I have read the above posts and I don't understand exactly what programs I need and how to go about it. Thank you and the program has been awesome!

I also have problems when trancoding DTS to AC3 trough the program, the prblem beign, some weird glitchs in the final AC3 file. To solve the problem I've used "EAC3to" wich is the best program to transcode DTS to AC3.

Anothe thing that is happening latelly is in middle of the movies, the image presents an horizontal glitch that last from 1/2 second to let's say 3 seconds, various times in the movies. This happening since version 2.1.2 (i didn't do any transcode in the 2.1.1 version so I don't know if the problem wa present or not). By that I've reinstaled my Windows and so the codecs, and that may be the problem. Is this happening to anyone else?

hi great app used it for a while now this new verison has the mpeg setting been changed as any new encode hads at lest 2gbs to the space even a 6.5gb comes out at nearly 9.5gb is there a way to change that
i used the very first verison of the app and it made the same file 6.81gb however as you know with the early verison you couldnt fast forward the file on the ps3 without errors sound etc,unlike the lastest verison which worked great fastward and rewind

Most recent update yes. If I attempt to bypass the transcode then the MUXING FAILS so thats a no go. Any particular codecs I should have installed to make it run more efficently?

dont know what is the cause. I dont have any problems, xp sp3 5508 isntalled + klite codec pack + vlc + mk2vob. working fine on my 720p movies till now. yesterdey done JUNO 720p, DTS to ac3 worked fine, but i will take a better look.

seen the file, seems ok. good DTS to AC3 transcode here

I get audio but no video since its just a black screen on every conversion with the new version(2.04? anywho its the latest version that I tried last night).

And I have an older version that was working on my laptop but the newest version is busted?

When I have an .mkv file with AC3 audio I need an option to just re-containerize to an .mt2ts container since my file all ready has AC3 audio and video I do not want to transcode.

If you file does not need transcoding mkv2vob won't transcode it. It will just change the container.

Damnit. couldn't you people have posted all this 24 hours ago ? :p I eventually managed to use the audio part of MeGui to do the job but it was not pretty. I had a very high bitrate DTS that was making MKV2VOB and everything else choke. I still love this program, but there are the 10-15% of files that don't work properly, and which require more manual intervention - I'm learning to do those faster.

I had problems when manually setting the various tools together, but with that package it run flawless in 4 ou 5 films by now...

Hi,

Just want to share a strange experience with mkv2vob. I converted a mkv movie with audio in DTS and video in AVC. I chose transcoding always to avi using XVID method. The reason for transcoding is because I want to add switchable subtitle using AVIADDXSUB.

When the transcoding finished, I tried to play it on PS3 before adding the subtitle, and PS3 was not able to play it. It did play the file (no corrupted or unrecognized file message), but it was just blank screen and no audio. I hit "select" on the remote, and it shows no video and audio bitrate.

Ignoring the problem, I then proceed to add the subtitle file using AVIADDXSUB anyway, since it took me a long time to transcode it on my slow computer. The AVIADDXSUB created a divx file within minutes, and then I try and play it on PS3. This time the file is playable with video, audio and subtitle, and everything worked! It is strange how AVIADDXSUB repackaged (I assume) the transcoded file, and it suddenly plays fine. Anyway, just want to share this with those people who had problem with XVID transcoding using mkv2vob.

The ps3 doesnt seem to like the avi created by mencoder, but remuxing it makes it work. this will be done in the next version.

When installing mkv2vob installation is stopped due to "an unexpected fatal error". Because there is no error log I have no idea what is wrong with the install. I run a pretty stripped down version of Windows XP, so I think the issue might come from there, but I have no idea what I am missing that this program needs. I thought the issue might be stemming from my services, so I have provided a screen capture of my services currently running, and the services.msc, as well as the error screen.

I was finally able to convert the problematic file using mpeg2 transcoding but the output file is not usuable. It is filled with blockiness, noise and compression artifacts. All these things do not exist in the original file, which is 1080p rip.
