Works great! If you could just implement a slight - say e.g. 3-frame hysteresis when going back. Now, when one wants to go back 10 keyfames, he has to press shift+left like 20 times, because there's 50% chance that it'll go back to the frame it started at.

Works great for me, too!!!
Thanks a lot, Gabest!!
I also noticed what Yusaku says...
And now a suggestion. Could the Next Keyframe feature be associated with the << and >> buttons? As far as I have seen, those buttons are not used (by I have only tested DivX files, so maybe in other formats those buttons are used).
If those buttons canīt be used, maybe you can add an option in the Config Options to make the < and > buttons do either Decrease and Increase playback speed or Go to Previous and Next Keyframe... I never change the playback speed, and maybe other users donīt either.
Anyway, the feature is very good so far.

yes... the edit box shows up... but after i changed the name and click somewhere else (or press enter) it still shows the old name...

the << and >> buttons don't work quite well with your average divx (.avi) file. but if you use it to play an mpeg file or an mp3 it will work, as in using the >> will speed up the play and using the << will decrease the rate of play so that you can watch something in slow motion.
to gabest: thanks for the logo bypass! although i haven't seen anything to change in registry in this release of MPC, but maybe it will come out in the official release on the site. anyhow, thanks!
also, while at the registry i found the ability to add my own extensions ( like adding .mov) just by adding it to the RealMediaExts key under the setting folder of MPC in the registry. that's good.

epere4: Now what, phrentec says it is good to have the speed changing buttons on <, > Should we make a poll about this? :)
Safai: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOps :o
phrentec: Hm, did I forget to tell you where it was? I can definitly remember that I wrote this down once, but where??? :) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gabest\Media Player Classic\Settings\LogoFile = "pathtotheimgfile"
(the rm extensions already have their UI in the options.)

Well, not necessary :)
You can make MPC load a default configuration that makes buttons funtion the way the do now, and add an option (in the config menu) to change them to work as "Go One Keyframe Forward" and "Go One Keyframe Backwards". And we are all happy :) (except maybe you, because you have to implement that ;) )

Gabest : The new release doesn't work on my win98se box, it displays "can't find DLL GDIPLUS.DLL", then it exits.
I downloaded this version : mpc98me6415 .zip

Sorry about that, the class I was using to load images for the background linked my exe to some gdi+ dlls. It only works under xp now, other window version will just simply do nothing if you want to load a valid file.

Gabest : The bug is fixed now in 6416 and 6420, but there's another bug, which prevents me from displaying subtitles, here are the results :
6406 : Display subtitles OK in VMR9 mode
6411 : Doesn't display subtitles in VMR9 ode
6416 : Doesn't display subtitles in VMR9 mode (also VMR7 tested with same results)
6420 : Doesn't display subtitles in VMR9 mode (also VMR7 tested with same results)
I guess the bug was introduced between 6406 and 6411, hope you can figure this out ;)
Thanks,
Shernand

Which version of dx9 are you using? There were a few releases of mpc for rc0, but now it should only run with rc1 and rc2. It's the limitation of dx9, it will only initalize itself if the build number matches with the sdk. (vmr7 is only for xp)
installer for rc2: http://www.iexbeta.com/files/dx9.0.397.1_websetup.exe

@gabest
question, yesterday, i was playing a divx avi with ac3 audio, wmp64 uses ivi audio decoder, but your mpc uses ravisent (yes i have that installed too), and when i disable the "built-in audio switcher" hoping that i would go back to the ivi since that disables the morgan switcher, but i got no video... weird... any ideas?... i'll unreg the ravisent one tonight and see if that will put the ivi in mpc...
i'm using ffdshow for video playback if that matters...
this is using 6.4.2.0

Divx_3.11.avi file must be 218646 frames or less if MPC 6.4.02.00 is used else it freeze at open file - no limit with xvid.
MPC 6.4.00.0006 - test version from 11.15.2002 have no limit.
(every new test or normal version have)
OT- I'm very happy with "D2VSource.ax" - this is the best MPEG2 decoder in terms of quality for me for now!
it's better even than YV12 decoders - FACT!

Is that possible to disable the "audio auto load" while playing
soundless .avi ?
Suppose I have a.avi (soundless) .ac3, .ogg, .mp3, when I double
click the .avi (I asociated the .avi with MPC) all the audio will be

Just some suggestioin....
Wheni play a VCD, a few .DAT files, the player shows the MPC picture when swarpping form one >.DAT to another >DAT. Anyway to diable that picture??
And the time for it to play another .DAT is too long..... waiting for the VCD to contiunes is not a good experience.
And one last important thing....
I try Zoomplayer, MPC, WinDVD, and in the end.... i got back to WMP 6.4
Why?? Because all these player have one thing in common. When reading a stretched CD they either frozen or crash.... while WMP6.4 just report a error and i will move the side bar forward to get out of the strected part of the CDs.....
Is it possible to do that as well in MPC?? reporting error instead of reading the CD again and again??

hi Gab,
i just tryed your player for win 98, but if i play full screen it doesnt keep the movie screen ratio, the movie assumes whatever ratio has the player window,
if i check frame/dont stretch, i see only a black screen, this on win millennium,
also often a black screen playng at normal zoom.
so, its a bug of the player or of mine??

Safai:
I'm not familiar with mdvd ini files, could you show me an example with all major features?
movmasty:
I have only seen this black screen prob in virtualpc/win98 when I put the player in full screen (happened even with wmp64), but still don't know what caused it. The ratio isn't kept with the first selection under video frame/ but with all the other it should be.
iwod:
How long does it take to load those vcds? There can be some empty sectors at the beginning of each file, and the reader filter tries to skip them because the mpeg2 splitter won't connect if the data starts with zeros. What is even worse, if I don't try skip those sectors the mpeg demultiplexer (another filter made for streaming mpeg) will automatically connect BUT it won't be able to seek then.
For the fozen window during the opening there is a new feature in 6425 (on by default, selectable on the first page in the options), it will do the initial connection of the filters on a worker thread, so now you can move the window around, access the menus, exit before loading fully (this needs more testing :P), etc.
ookzDVD:
Auto-loading of audio and subs can be disabled now, see the same place in the options where the "worker thread" option is.

Don't panic I'm not dead yet ;)

the full documentation for the INI structure comes with mdvdp12.exe (check doom9's media player download section)
basically, it allows you to have dvd look alike menus, multi cd, multi subtitles, multi audio tracks, etc all defined in the INI, where it is located and stuff... your player pretty much supports everything except the menu thingy... it is this menu thing that i'm mostly interested in... you see, it is nice to just pop in a CD and the player launches a nice menu with different selections, thenn use the remote to select which episode to watch... and this is the main reason why i'm still using this old player for my anime... :)
oh... thank you for the new build, will try it out... :)

@Gabest: Sir, would it be possible to (please) add a keyboard shortcut to toggle the interface options controled by ctrl+0,1,2,5,etc. all off and on, so that 'wouldn't have to hit serveral keys to have just the video window shown. And could you please add a way to horizontal maximize the video window.
I use MPC every day now and it's just the best player ever. Thanks.

Even with new build of MPC i still getting weird problem if have an mp3 stream as primary and ac3 stream as secondary in xvid avi. The problem is slow down video framerate by ~2 times when i play avi whith primary audio stream (mp3) and video goes at full framerate if i choose secondary stream (ac3). Even if ac3 is not muxed in avi but autoloaded by mpc the problem appears again. Same problem was with MPC 6.4.2.0. BUT, everything plays fine if i use MPC 6.4.0.4. Weird...
I've tried various xvid builds, ac3 decoders (Intervideo and ac3filter), run those videos on different machines (WinXP and Win2k with DirectX 8.1). The problem always is.
I've heard that there is a possibility to watch dvd's with external subs using MPC, could someone tell me how can i do it 'cos i cant find out the way...
P.S. Thanks to gabest for the great tools: MPC & VobSub :)

This ini specification looks very complicated, it would be easier to rewrite mpc to fit them instead of modifying it...

Ok.

What mpegs are you joining, mpeg1 or mpeg2? How? (copy /b? :))

Do you use the built-in switcher or morgan?
You can watch dvd with subs if you use the vmr7/9 renderers or dvobsub.

If you know how you could even shrink the video to 32x32 and reencode it to make the file smaller :)Cant use VMR7/9 'cos playing becames choppy (100% load of my P3 800MHz)... Yea, that can be a prob. And i still cant get how to load them using DVobSub. They must be called some special way or something else? Sorry for stupid questions... Set dvobsub to "always-load" and then it will load for dvds too.

I work with a lot of DVDs. I may have several on my hard drive that I need to view. The only way I found to open a DVD is:
view->options->dvd->user defined path (enter path)
then
file->open dvd
Zoomplayer let's me drag the video_ts.ifo file on the window (or via the file open dialog) and it starts automatically. Any chance of adding this functionality or is there a technique that I don't know about?

I don't know if it's a bug, but if I play the .ogm movie with

2 problems: loading some DVD's frozes mpc- it shows film's parameters (size etc) and do nothing more with all the play buttons disabled.
But sometimes it plays the same films properly. And one more problem. 16:9 movie playing fullscreen with all the characters heads streched vertically like horses :) I couln't find any proper "Pan&Scan" and "Video frame" settings - only adjust vertical screen size by hand with
numpad 8,2.
And now one badly needed feature request - is it possible to add brightness/contrast/saturation sliders, just like in ZoomPlayer?

Disable it in the options to see if that matters. Btw, which decoder filters do you use?
