Herske: Is that audio renderer using another sound card too?
Blight: I'm going to release a build from all filters, I just didn't have time yet.

Yes, I forgot to say that, is another sound card (I'm using it for tv-out only).

Isn't it a good idea that You should close or freeze this thread in this forum ? (since MPC becomes opensource, and there are forums at sourceforge too, so we had not to look up different places for info ...)
Waiting for the answer of the thread owner ... :)
It doesn't hurt to discuss things on different places simultaneously you know :). There's also XviD.org forums, but also an XviD doom9 forum. Does it matter?

The forum at sf.net cannot be compared to this, why would I use that? :)

@Gabest:
Can you add some option to make your player show more than one subtitle at a time when watching a DVD. I don´t remember well, but I think that either PowerDVD or WinDVD was able to do so.
Not an important thing, but when I watch a movie with my girlfriend she wants to have subtitles in the original languages and I want them translated to my language (Spanish:D ).

@Gabest:
I am having this problem now too:
Closing MPC (6.4.5.3) while it is still loading a (no matter what format/codec, playback with ffdshow)-file, only closes the GUI, mplayerc.exe is still running and really slowing down win(2k, sp3) and I cannot open any other movie before I killed the process.

+1 (under win xp sp1)
When this happen the files association (double click) don't work but I still can open the mplayerc.exe and drag 'n' drop a file.
Killing the process and the files association works again.

Hi Gabest!
Thanks for a great player.
I have a feature request... I would like to have a commandline switch for enabling the panscan mode: scale to 16:9 TV.

Hi Gabest,
using the latest version of mpc and WinXP PRo I am not able to use the DVDmax function of my Matrox G400 16MB. I remember that it was possible with older versions of the player, though. Just tried 6.4.02. Didn't work either. ??? The problem occurs with RealMedia and other Media. I have switched through all possible video renderer options.
On the other hand other Media Players including RealOne can still be used for output via DVDmax. So it does not seem that my system has been corrupted.
I don't know if you are familiar with DVDmax. This feature just takes the content of the Hardware overlay contining the image of a film an copies it to TV-out, well basically.
gabest
10th June 2003, 10:29
If you can make a screenshot with printscreen then the renderer is not using overlay. In this case try another one :)
kilg0r3
10th June 2003, 12:20
ok,
for xvid etc, it seems, the problem was a conflict between the internal subtitle renderer and directvobsub (simultaneous loading). For real meadia files, however, there is no solotution. When I use the advanced subtitle renderer mpc does not use overlay.

Yeap
Gabest, i just formated my hdd and opened my ghost image and installed powerdvd 4 and windvd 4 and when i tried to open a dvd with mpc, a message appears saying something like "The following filters failed to open.....", and in the next windows says DeCSS::OuT..............until now, i have played all dvd´s with your program, but now i cant......Any suggestion?

That means you don't have any registered decoder for video or audio. You can see "decss::out", because mpc tries to put a decss filter after the unconnectable pin if maybe there is another decoder installed which would only be compatible with unencrypted data. (elecard's decoders, or an old ac3 filter)

Gabest, what is the status on the 2 audio card problem? When I select the audio renderer for the second audio card, MPC still uses the default audio renderer, happens also in 6.4.5.4
Is this a bug or a feature?
Thanks,
/herske

Still unsolved... I only have one on-board sound chip in my pc now.
mmmmmm, thanks for the explanation, but as i said, i been using your program to watch dvd´s without problems until now........

> I can see mplayerc.exe in taskman, no idea why you can't.
funny... I tried it on 2 machines (both XP-SP1) and on both I can just see it under Processes (not under applications) in the taskman ... so the "problem" may be related to my kind of installation ... anyway, I got 2 new Feature-Requests (can't get enough of them ;-) ) :
1.: is it possible to include the current frame number in the "statistics" dialog (I recently needed this Feature to "grab" some hardcoded subs ...)
and more "important" nr.2: you can now slow down / fastforward through a movie. But would it be possible to specify an actual framerate (preferably 24fps)? ... I don't like these slightly pitched voices in all those PAL movies. The difference is not that big, but you still can hear it and you loose a little of the "feeling" if you watch an actor with a cool Voice e.g. Patrick Stewart or Mel Gibson ...
thanks

Hi. And thanks for the great program! It has replaced all the others for me.
Now I would also like to use it at work. In order to deploy it properly I would need a command line parameter to register all filetypes. Is that ever planned? You might get a better market-penetration that way. Or maybe create a PRO-version? and charge for site licence?

You want to make us pay for Gabest free work?!
You can register most video filetypes already in the options menu.
and ignore his "pro" request gabesT!!! :D

Well if you like it so much and are willing to have a PRO version why not just donate to gabest (link on his website www.gabest.org) and keep using the free version.

As far as site deployment goes - why not just copy all the necessary things from registry (file extension associations, mplayer.exe location and actual config) and have it run in loginscript?

Hi Gabest,
I´m using you fabulous program (the most wonderfull 690 kb on my HD) without any problem in WinXp/athlon and, now, trying avi-mux'ed files that contain 2 audio streams and subs inside.
My question is: is there any way to select the streams played from the command line (just audio 1, just Audio 2, Audio 1 or Audio 2 + Subs...)? It is planned to implement this kind of commands?
Thanks in advance.

Reto Egeter Just make all the differences you want to make on a reference system, and use MS's sysdiff.exe (or just find the registry keys and export them to a *.reg file), and then make an MSI package, KiX, VB, WSH, or Perl script, SFX archive, or whatever deploy it with. An every day task for a sysadmin ;)

I am aware of doing a registry dump / compare. But versions change etc. (new media types) it's just way cleaner this way.

I'm missing the commandline feature of the good old mplayer2.exe from M$. I've tested the "classic" version sometimes ago, but with no success. Is this probl. meanwhile solved?
I need it because I want to put it on CD-R to get the "autorun" function, such as a line with "Open=mplayer2.exe /play /fullscreen filename.avi" in autorun.inf. I did a search with the keywords: "classic, commandline" in this forum but get only this thread as result. But this thread has 42 pages... so can someone or the author simply tell me the stand of the thing?

I don't know what all commandlines MPC uses off the top of my head. But i do know if you go to Help->Command lines or something like that then you can see what all MPC supports..

I meen, if you say it is a replacement or a improvement of mplayer2.exe, it should be able to take over(be compliant) the syntax of the old one. The autorun function of old mplayer2:
(in file autorun.inf of CD root)
open=mplayer2.exe /play /fullscreen filename.avi
does not work any more.
Schultz

well yea since mpc's command lines go something like this
mplayerc.exe filename.avi /play /fullscreen

I try to troubleshoot my problems till I run out of answers, but this one has me stumped. Basicallly, my question is this...
Why can I play an mpeg2 file in Windows Media Player fine, but in the latestof mpc, it crashes with a ligos error. Dont get me wrong, im not complaining, this player kicks ass, im just wondering which route it takes, and hopefully I can figure this out.
The information I'm asking for is this...
1. MPC runs off of the dshow filters installed, correct?
2. Standard media player runs off of which filters? The same?
3. How can I change MPC to use the same filters that the standard media player uses?
I have PowerDVD installed, although, I would not be upset if I have to unreg some of these filters to get MPC to run the way I want it to (play all formats).
Gabest, you are blowing minds with your work, your sourceforge page is full of tools that I use, and I want to say THANK YOU!

Hi,
I am using MPC 6.4.5.5 to view my files and VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a to add tags to my audio-streams. I have problems viewing my tags in MPC, in stead of English, French etc., I see xx.avi / Stream 01 xx.avi / Stream 02.
Does anyone have an idea?

I would like to know how media player classic decides which codecs to use for decompression of video/audio. recently I got a video file which was encoded in divx, I started playing it in media player classic and all of a sudden I noticed that mpc was using Realmagic mpeg4 decoder which couldn't cope with the encoded stream and so playback was bad. I tried to force mpc to use xvid or divx codecs, changed the header of the avi file to other codecs, wmp 9 reacted promptly, using either xvid or divx respectively, but mpc was stubbornly trying to use realmagic decoder, no matter what I tried to do. finally I had to unregister it to force mpc to use normal codecs. I don't think it has anything to do with codec priority, because it is set systemwide and thus it would affect wmp 9 either, but it didn't, the only player that was unwilling to read the avi header to determine the codec was mpc.
Now I got myself another file, this time the audio stream is encoded in ac3, wmp9 started to use ac3 filter from http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ , which is just what I wanted, but mpc once again stubbornly refused to follow my wishes and started using intervideo mpeg2 decoder (iviaudio.ax) from my windvr 3 installation. which sux, because the intervideo decoder doesn't allow to set sound volume in its settings and thus I was stuck with low volume and couldn't hear a goddamn thing.
Hope this prob can be solved. it's not too difficult, is it? just tell the mpc to read the avi header and then use the codec as defined in the avi header, not some other codec mpc seems to select purely by accident or by sheer caprice

Well MPC does its own Graph Rendering instead of using the Smart Connect or what its called to Automatically render it.. With this you can go to the Options and find the filters and just add the Filters you don't want Loaded and changed there merit to low or you can just select block.. Also you can add filters and select them to Perfer so they are choosen over the other filters..

mpc says something about "merit" in the filter options. guess by this the developer means the decoder priority. what happens if I change that priority? will it have an influence on the WHOLE system (i.e., also on other programmes that use these filters, like WMP) or only on MPC? because I don't want to destroy my system, if I set somthing incorrectly and then it would have negative impact on the whole system... :scared:
Schultz
23rd June 2003, 01:24
The Merit option is only for MPC's own Graph builder it won't affect your whole system.. you can also just choose block and perfer instead of messing with the merit value..
