Try one of so many free webspace providers...

For german users, there is a nice list at http://www.kostenlos.de - Internet (unfortunately, I cannot tell you any recommendation of international providers, the most wellknown are quite restrictive in size and type of uploadable files).
__

And now for something completely different: Is there a complete changelog available for the MPC (at least for the last releases around 6.4.7-8.x)? I hope I didn't miss the right link at the SourceForge site; and this thread would take a few hours..days to review and collect... ;)

I've installed the latest version of Nero VisionExpress.

Although WMP9 is able to play Mpeg4/AAC .MP4 encodes by locating/using Nero's video and audio DSdec filters (and no doubt their parser too) MPC can not!

MPC is able to locate/use Nero's video DSdec filter but I keep receiving this warning: -

http://img67.exs.cx/img67/2509/SMD_MPC_warning.gif

Can anybody suggest what I have to do to make it work please?

Many thanks

@SeeMoreDigital: maybe coreaac and the 3ivx filter suite helps,..

However, I would have thought it should be able to configure MPC to use Nero's own filters!

Afterall if WMP9 can use them, so should MPC.

Yes, one would think, but I've run into this sort of problem with MPC, ocassionally. I solved the problem by going to "Options >> Overrides >> Add Filter" (add the filter you want to use). Then, in the lower Overrides window, add a subtype of "Any Type" to the appropriate Type. If that doesn't work, you might have to find the actual subtype by trial and error using the error messages from MPC or possibly Filter Manager by Radlight. Once you have the actual subtype, add it to the MPC subtype list for that media type.

It's worked for me in the past.

Also, if you wish to use the 3ivx splitter, you will no longer be able to use the Nero splitter with any player except the Nero players because the Nero splitter is integrated with the Nero "file source" filter. As shitowax explained to me, you have to pick your solution. Evertime you update Nero, you'll have to reinstall 3ivx, if you prefer the 3ivx splitter.

Just a question, I hope it doesn't hurt anyone. Did Gabest give up of his projects really?

Anyway on his page http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ I've seen that Matroska Muxer and Matroska Splitter have been updated on 16/8, so he is still with us :)

In desperation also tried the brand new version of Zoom Player (http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml) this morning and it also could not automatically detect/connect to Nero's DSdec audio filter!

So it look like it's not just an MPC thing...

Cheers  Connecting to Nero filters seems to be difficult or impossible, sometimes. Is this by design?

MPC + SP2 + WMR7/9 crash. Only Overlay Mixer works.

Tested with:

Matroska
RealVideo
RealAudio
SSA

WMR7/9 works whitout subtitles. Crash with DirectVobSub AND with MPC Subtitle renderer.

Hi,all.
I have a question.

It's "VMR7 (renderless)/(windowed)" on MPC option ([Output]>[DirectShow Video]) is grayed out and not selectable.

VMR7 is installed in system and used correctly by some player and other (Zoom Player,BSPlayer,GraphEdit,etc...).
DirectX9.0b is installed and therefore "VMR9 (renderless)/(windowed)" is selectable.

My environment is as follows.
OS:: Windows2000 SP4
DirectX:: 9.0b
MPC:: 6.4.8.2 Doesn't MPC confirm the filter exists?, check the version of OS?

Possibly you can use VBR-7 on non-XP windows too if you have DirectX 9.0b, but that is not documanted and so not officially supported (i.e. probably not very stable); you cannot blame Gabest if you prefer stable players :)

The reason for which I want to use VMR7 is because VMR7 does not have restriction and is stable from VMR9 on my environment (Maybe, Driver's functionality for VMR9 is not enough ). Also, VMR7 is faster rendering considerable than "Video Renderer" and "Overlay Mixer".

Windows2000 SP4 is changed default renderer from "Video Renderer" to VMR7. But then, a subtitle cannot be displayed with high precision unless choose "VMR7/9 (renderless)" explicitly. So, that VMR7 cannot be chosen worried me, and have reached to this question.

I'm not going to blame gabest and prefer stable player.
I am satisfied with the question answer having been obtained and uneasiness having been dispelled.

Thank you Liisachan (and for your articles at faireal.net (http://www.faireal.net/) too:D ).

:: P.S. ::

@gabest, I'm using MPC very conveniently.
@I do say gratitude and praise to you by borrow this post reply.
@Thank you.

I have a problem the answer to which is probably somewhere in those 94 pages of posts, I just don't have the patience to read through all of them...
When subtitles are displayed, video playback is not smooth, there are little "jumps" around the time each subtitle (line) is first displayed.
When I turn them off, everything is fine... Other players, such as bsplayer do not have this problem... How do I fix it?
If an answer has already been posted, please direct me...

Thanx.

Would be possible to have brightness/contrast change on the fly in mpc and possibly easy accessible from the main panel?

Hi,

A nice user of MPC (Michael Cronenworth - vegetto34) has compliled the last cvs. You can find the new version here :
MPC 6.4.8.3 CVS 10-14-2004 (http://s87769002.onlinehome.us/mpc_10-14-2004_cvs.rar)

That CVS version supports MKV muxed with mkvmerge 0.9.5, but on the other hand, its VMR9 Renderless mode is broken for me, on Windows XP SP2--VMR9 is now like Overlay Mixer and the internal sub renderer doesnt work. (VMR-7 does work tho)

Subs in mkv files working for anyone?

Anyone interested in a 9x/me build?

Not really sure if this is the place for feature requests, but here goes...

The frame advance feature is really useful, but a frame reverse feature would be a useful addition.

SSA/ASS, S_VOBSUB and font embedding work in VMR-9.

I used this mplayerc.exe on my Windows XP Pro sp2

There were some changes in the cvs, effecting subtitles, so I compiled a new version. Subs in mkv's work fine for me, however I tried the last version and they worked fine there to. No idea what was up before.

Reverse frame is already there, just press the <-- arrow, how well it works I guess depends on the decoder/codec used.

celtic_druid, would you mind release one without upx compressed?

I found the when the original file was compressed then decompressed with upx, the decompressed one is not accurately same as the original one...

Nice to see that MPC (the best media player :) ) isn't dead !!!

Keep up the good work !!!

celtic_druid

@timeismoney, I used upx because Gabest did. I however used the most recent stable version, not a dev version.

Guess that is something to speak with the upx people about, but presumably the uncompressed EXE perfroms that same as the original? After all it is supposed to be lossless.

I will put up a non upx'ed version. It will actually be a smaller download anyway. Should be no real difference in performance between the two anyway other than a slightly lower ram usage.

celtic_druid, could you make a new compile, pretty please? There have been some changes in the CVS lately.

This thread is truly massive!

Given that Gabest has taken a back seat and new compiles (after 6.4.8.2) are being created by other people, can a new thread be started?

It's just a thought. But I think it proved quite useful when the same was recently done with FFdshow development thread.

Cheers

EDIT: It might help if we had some Moderators in this area of the forum too!

I wouldn't say he has taken a back seat (maybe two months ago, but not now). He commits new code to CVS, but doesn't want to compile until all work is finished, or so it seems to me.
I just want to play around with new MPC, have a peek at what Gabest has in store for us, that's why I ask for new compiles, but on the other hand maybe we should just let him finish.

Still, a new thread would be welcome. This one is monstrous in size.

Gabest's MPEG Splitter is wonderful, it can parse HDTV TS with aac audio track (No other common splitter can), someone complied it to external filter but not friendly to WMP & some MPEG-2 decoder (I test it only connected to cyberlink mpeg-2 decoder), would you mind to try to complie one? In fact sometimes to play HDTV in WMP is familiar...:p

I tested the new one on my Win XP for OGM MKV RMVB with /without subs, and everything seems fine. I'd like to have the changelog too, even if its a very simple one.

ps. i mirrored the files here (http://m17n.cool.ne.jp/freeware/mpc/) mainly for users in asia, as your server is sometimes not too fast from here
