whoops, that post was a bit hasty sorry. I was encoding with RV40, and had unchecked the "dropdupe" checkbox. Playing back with the latest Real Alt. (1.49?) there were dropped frames in the output.
Here's a post I made on the problem: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=33737&page=4#69
My question can be rephrased as: is this a feature of RA, or a feature of the Real encoder?

Producer may drop frames if bitrate is too low. I don't remember if RealAnime set the "no drop frames" flag. Gonna check.

@check
Is this drop dupeframes issue you're facing makes your video play faster and made the audio async with the video? Where the still moments of the video became shorter than normal?

sorry, still haven't got the time to check in RA4 sources.

That's ok, I'll test with RA5 and newly discovered helix producer and see how I go. The dropped frames were all over, but particularly prevalent in high bitrate scenes.

no, haven't set "no drop". your bitrate is too low.

I have a problem with RealAnime, sort of... I have two PCs... One I use alot mainly, the other as a backup, which I occasionally run video processing and stuff on. I recently started using RealAnime, on my main PC, and decided to use it on my other PC... However... when I went to convert, I got a Merge Error #3! Thinking maybe RealAnime might not be able to handle OGM files, I tried on my main PC the same file, and it transcoded fine! I don't really get what is the problem... Both can play the video file, BTW.

RealAnime is unicode, works only with Windows 2000 and XP. You will need to get mkvtoolnix for windows 95/98:

http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/win32/

his site seems down though

Unicode can work on 95/98 with an update.

I have a problem with my RealAnime 4.2 software. When I attempt to encode avi files into rmvb files, the Audio begins transcoding. However, an error message appears after the audio transcoding finishes. The error message is:

Encoder error #-1073741819 (BeSweet)

How do I fix this problem?

Hi I'm New to this tool

So this is for avi re-encoding NOT dvd-ripping. Theres a big difference I guess.
And the profiles inthis tool are specific for anime am I right?

I have a friend who showed me a .mkv file (anime series) wich looked very very good.
it had absolutely nil interlacing and picture was
very sharp@
~135MB for 24 minutes of video

Ar there any tools that can help me uncover what codec and settings were used?

The series was wichtblade the anime
the name of doom9 member DSPguru.doom9.org was also mentioned.And I found no 4cc in stream 0 :(

I have some he-man original series DVDs that I would like to copy and convert & store for my personal use.
(dvds are from a friend of mine)
It has also similar motion as anime.
still pictures with only mouth talking.

What do you guys suggest I use to rip ?
I'm thinking between XVID (but do no trust xvid as much anymore),
RMVB (since I read rmvb is really good with anime since RV9E),
Or H264

Each episode is about 20 min long I guess,
and target file could be around 150-200MB ?
(other suggestions welcome ofcourse thanks and I'll give them a try)
I just need some pointers so I can get started.

BTW do any of the tools llike EasyRMProducer or this one, or AutoGK deinterlace
source material automatically before coding?
I did some reading and am just aware de-interlacing helps improve output much! :D

Thanks.

Thanks.RealAnime is ment to produce high quality small files (50 - 85MB depending on RA version). Most fansubbers make 170MB (xvid + mp3 + avi) or 235MB. RealAnime recode those into smaller files in H264 and AAC+ v2.

Size wise to get similar quality:

xvid > rv10 (rv9e) > h264

damrod
6th October 2006, 19:07
For myself, i reencode in h264 with 435ko for video and 48/64 for audio in aac+ v2
Make 80-85Mo files from 170-250Mo source... :-)

i even saw 350Mo file for 22minutes of anime...i was too scared to look at the video bitrate of this sort of source ;)

Sirber
6th October 2006, 19:09
I'm at 268kbps H264 with 32kbps AAC+ v2 (RA5's default), which gives ~52MB for 24 minutes.

@damrod

AAC+ v2 doesn't work at 64kbps ;)

thanks for the replies!

I found a utility that could tell me wich mpeg4 codec was used for that witchblade anime! :)

Its h264!!!! :D

The quality is so good I refuse to believe it was a re-encode????

Anyway I still had this question,
Do tools like realanime, autogk or easyrealmedia producer de-interlace video automatically before starting the encode?
Or do I have to invoke de-interlacing manually with some avisynth command?

(yes I;m still a noob, but I;m learning!!! :D )

Sirber
6th October 2006, 19:24
In realanime you can activate deinterlace or inverce telecine (30 FPS --> 24 FPS) from the filtering section. By default RealAnime does not pre-filter.

i know it doesn't works at 64 :-)
i use v1@64 and v2@48

how long to encode @268 the video ?
i'm still between 1h15 and 2h00 in 3passes, epending on the quality (the last pass have different parameters)

Sirber

at quality "normal" (RA5 profil), takes ~2h15 for 2 pass on my 3000+.

RealAnime 5 doesn't keep all subs and audio, and surely producer is the same as in RA4.

sirber, are realanime4 can rip the subtitle direct to the video?
I still don't know how to use it.

or anybody can give me a step to do it?

RealAnime 5 could do it, not 4.
You'd need to use AVISynth manually to achieve that with RealANime 4

Okay,... i've found out about HardSub Video..
and now i need some info about
i'm trying to get Anime to my PPC.. Xvid+Vorbis=MKV in TCPMP... on (not mine LOOX420 and mine iPAQ1910..). both 320x240, but in 4.1.2 i've found out that RA produces(when i set Resize to 320x240) MKVs with brocen AspectRatio.. (if i have 16:9 video input.. it makes 4:3 output)..
is it possible to encode with MAXRes of 320x240 with the SAME AR as in Input? (answer may be for RA4 and RA5(as fas as RA5 has HardSub option))

*i'm currently downloading 5.0.0 and 4.2, but i'll have files only tomorrow.. and i'm leaving in about 10 mins :) ...

Sirber

both RA (v4 and v5) are deprecated. You can manually feed both version with AVS script, which uses VSfilter for hardsub.

no-no-no.. ;) ... i DO know how to use AVSes.. but if i have LOTS-O-Files, that are RAW + ExtASS-Subz.. so what.. i do need to MAKE all those AVSes.. and calculate AR manually? ...

Well, bencos does hardsub and AR resize automaticly. But, it's currently limited codec-wise: x264 and AAC-HE/PS.

Can Realanime take mpx video format as input file?

OT: Where can I find a mpx sample? AOL asked me whether it would be fine for them to send me the content in mpx format instead of mpeg - which will take time to transcode.

Thanks.
