Most programs on my system are able to display clear-type text. A few however are unable to. I can give two examples besides RA (included within RA): Rename4U (except menus, which are displayed correctly) and YAMB MP4 GUI. I wonder what is common to all these programs...

Hi...

I tried to run RA with x264 Rev. 413 and Windows XP gives me one of it's "x264.exe has enountered a problem and needs to close" error messages and crashes.

Is this just my computer, or is RA incompatible with 413?

EDIT: RA gives this error code #-1073741819 (x264)

Rev 413 crashed with an Access Violation. It has no link with RealAnime. Get another x264 build :)

Hi,

Great news, log implentation almost completed (it was much more easyer than i thought, but it need few test to tweak the filtering) it will add a log in the realanime folder named "RealAnime.log" ... there work to do, but it will be made soon!!! and help up to debug the application!! :D

it will be in the next release.

Just a silly note on Linux realproducer :

How would the encoding work ... Maybe uncompress one minute(part, frame I dunno what is better ) of the file, then compress it with producer and so on.... then in the end combine all those minutes in one finished file. In that way it would be possible to encode the file without having to decompress the whole file .

but is this even possible? or maybe very hard to do?

Sirber

@garbii

that would screw the bitrate curve.

I guess so... I have another program on my system which cannot output ClearType text, and guess what it says in its "About" dialog box... "From Vision to Code - Powered by Delphi"

option to set ALWAYS ON TOP on/off :)
I second that. I don't see how "always on top", other than being a nuisance, will ever come in handy, so disabling it completely shouldn't hurt either...

It's pretty usefull for drag drop...
That is redundant. This is because one could bring a RealAnime window into view for "drag and drop" by dragging those objects over RealAnime's taskbar shortcut, thereby bringing RealAnime's window on top for a "drop".

Sirber
6th February 2006, 16:32
But I love to browse my files while RA is on top for easy dropping. The window is small so it doesn't cover much. But, I will add an option to disable it.

I say, increase the window size. It looks patheticly small on 1920 x 1200 resolution
But that's just my opinion. Btw, some things, like the zones also looks retarded in that small window size.

Sirber
7th February 2006, 13:15
I don't have enough settings to fill a bigger window.
Also, 3 zones is widely enough for a 24 minute anime ;)

In next version, if AVI is not supported by RealAnime (ex: WMV3 + AAC = AVI), it will go via AVISynth and work. THe only bad side is that it makes huge temp files :(

ggab
8th February 2006, 00:23
and can u create an option to allow a temporal WAV file (from the source, whatever the audio format is).
Thus, the audio encoding part (besweet) will not fail :)

e.g. / example

Det. Conan Movie 2 Trailer.avi with xvid and a "strange" audio track, like AU, Mpeg1 layer 1 or 2, AIFF, etc

so RealAnime / Besweet can extract the audio from source file, to a WAV file
and then re-encode it without errors

Sirber
8th February 2006, 00:28
In dev version, faulty AVI will go via AVISynth. So everything work well.

P.S. Already posted somewhere last page ;)

If I don't like to customize the "B Frames" value (and also haven't a clue what B-Frames are...) but would prefer to let x264 choose a proper value by itself for me, what must I enter into the "B-Frames" field? Perhaps you should add a checkbox before the "B-Frames" field (unchecked, by default) so that users who don't want to mess with those advanced settings, don't have to.

Sirber
8th February 2006, 13:21
@anne_so78

If you don't have no clue about advanced stuff, just don't go there. It will default to 3 bframes for normal encodes, and automaticly set 1 or 0 if you use PSP/iPod/PPC profiles (in 4.0).

anne_so78
8th February 2006, 13:40
It will default to 3 bframes for normal encodes
What is "It"?. Do you mean to say that, if unspecified, x264's value for B-Frames is always 3?

Sirber
8th February 2006, 13:50
What is "It"?. Do you mean to say that, if unspecified, x264's value for B-Frames is always 3?RealAnime will set 3 unless you touch it.

anne_so78
8th February 2006, 14:14
Yes, I know. But suppose RealAnime never had an option to customize B-Frame values, then what value would it be? (i.e, what value would the x264 encoder assign for B-Frames if this value isn't explicitly specified? I'm hoping you'd say 3...). I just want to be sure that 3 B-Frame's isn't a RealAnime speciality...

Sirber
8th February 2006, 14:20
Before the option was exposed I hardcoded 3 bframes ;)
I don't know what is x264 true default.

anne_so78
8th February 2006, 14:59

Well, then could you include an option to not pass any value to x264 regarding B-Frames (like a checkbox to uncheck, or a 'default' option). Because, when I don't know an encoding parameter's function, I would rather not pass a value of that function to the encoder, but would trust the encoder to select an appropriate default value for me. No offense, but do you have to leave me with no option but to rely on your experience/judgement regarding B-Frames ?

Sirber
8th February 2006, 15:17
No offense, but do you have to leave me with no option but to rely on your experience/judgement regarding B-Frames ?Yes! :D

Have a read here (http://encyclopedia.tfd.com/B-frame) and learn how to use it! Or leave the default (3). It's in advance section, if you don't feel confortable with advanced stuff, just leave it like it is and only use "basic". I already set a ton of parameters for each codec that you have no control over, which are set by the Quality menu.

Eretria-chan
9th February 2006, 09:42
I just watched one movie that I compressed using your newest version. It's been a long time since I last used your tool, but...
I must say that the quality for such low filesize is very impressive! Some blocks and a few noise here and there, but with post processing it was almost perfect!
The only grip is the audio quality... sometimes I could hear the bad quality at the default 32 kbps. Guess I need to increase it.
This was done with 2-pass high profile. I guess I also need an upgrade because the second pass went in 2-2.5 fps...

Sirber
9th February 2006, 13:05
Don't use PP with x264, it already has inloop filtering.
Defaults were made for 640c480, anime content.
IMO, best do 3 pass medium than 2 pass high.

Eretria-chan
9th February 2006, 14:31
To be specific, I used noise reduction in ffdshow.
I'll try 3-pass medium next!

Sirber
9th February 2006, 15:02
You should try C3D with anime preset. Should be better.

Eretria-chan
9th February 2006, 15:05
You forget I don't know anything about avisynth and most filters and stuff besides ffdshow :) And if it in ffdshow, then where? :p

Sirber
9th February 2006, 16:02
Go in filtering tab, go in noise reduction menu, select Convolution3D, then anime HQ or LQ. LQ remove more noise than HQ. Then click Add.

Eretria-chan
9th February 2006, 16:06
Thank you very much, but, what exactly is this? Is this some kind of post processing affect applied by x264 or pre-processing? Ahhhh, I just don't know - and that's why I use RealAnime!

Sirber
9th February 2006, 16:09
It's a filtering applied before x264, so it's pre-processing, and it's a 3D noise remover. It's better than per-frame noise remover. In next version, filtering will be easier.

Anyone got troubles encoding Naruto 171? BeSweet just dies on me saying it worked, but it produced a 1KB .AAC file :(

I might redirect all AVI source via AVISynth to prevent any problem with BeSweet and it's bugged AVI management.

ggab
10th February 2006, 06:30
"redirect all AVI source via AVISynth to prevent any problem"

i guess there is not another choise to avoid the besweet error's codes....

in the new version filtering tab (or another one), do not forget to add the preview button, that launch the avisync script to mplayer.exe :)

Eretria-chan

Well, I guess will have to test.
But unless the original is noisy, it won't work very well, will it?

Sirber

If you use filtering on a source that doesn't need it, you will kill details and make it soft.

Sirber

It's less "customizable" but anyway v4.0 supports AVS as input. (not RC3)
