again with the crap audio

about video, 318kbps is too low, try something like 536kbps

Perhaps you can help with a little something...
Some of my files have this annoying "rainbow effect." I don't know how to get rid of it. Apparently RA offers nothing to remove this? Concerning avisynth, well... I don't know what filters or whatever to use. I would like to get RID of it, however, when re-encoding it with RA.

Sirber
23rd April 2006, 16:56
Sorry, I don't know. Best ask in "AVISynth usage" forum.

Eretria-chan

Any news on the audio front? Last time, 32kbps gave some small "artifacts" in the sound, so I've had to stuck with 48kbps. It's a shame, really...

Sirber
23rd April 2006, 22:15
Dunno, I use 32kbps daily and it ain't too bad. Some glitches sometimes, but something an audiophile would notice ;)

Also, using AAC HE or PS with a source that is 24Khz is a bad idea, since HE cuts to 22khz then reproduce to 44khz on playback.

Eretria-chan
23rd April 2006, 22:52
No, it was definetly noticeable, that "glitch." I must investigate into this "24 KHz bad idea" you mention.

So Sirber, can you help with the filter?
I get no picture:

# uncomment to use masktools 1
#edgemask = input.edgemask(thY1=1, thY2=255, type="sobel").inflate().yv12lut(yexpr=lutexpr).GreyScale()

No matter what strength I use (0 or 255), the result is the same! I'll try another fillter in the meantime.

EDIT: Tried Derainbow, yet the artifacts won't disappear. Odd =/

since your trouble is with the filter and not how to make it work under RealAnime, best continue to ask in AVISynth forums.

Eretria-chan
24th April 2006, 12:48
Sirber, you should concider to add to RA, that when it encounters an error (like bad sampling rate), it should flash for attention, or skip the error and notify in some other way (this is what I recommend).
Because I don't want to monitor RA all the time. Or perhaps you could try something for xAnime.

Sirber
24th April 2006, 12:58
You mean when I detect 24k sounds?

Eretria-chan
24th April 2006, 13:02
When any error occours. I had two clips that had 40k sounds, too.

Sirber
24th April 2006, 13:07
oh, you mean when an error occurs, to make the tray icon blink or any other visual thing?

Eretria-chan
24th April 2006, 13:41
Yes, some notice of a sort so I know there was an error.
But preferbly, RA should also skip the file there was an error with so that, for example, when I am not at the computer, it will continue to encode without waiting for me to fix the error.

Sirber

Eretria-chan
24th April 2006, 13:59
There is no point in trying to encode anything if RA can't encode it, is it? If all files are faulty, then so be it. I'll have to fix them, somehow, manually so that RA CAN work with them.

Sirber

Sirber, would it be desirable to select other resolutions to resize to? Perhaps like a percentage of the original resolution? I tried encoding a video made by FRAPS, which had a resolution of 1200x800. Widescreen resolution, that is. Resizing to 4:3 is not that desirable, is it?

Sirber
27th April 2006, 17:17
you can set manually the rez you want.

[width]x[height]

Eretria-chan
27th April 2006, 17:34
I see... I will do so, then.
Also RA lets you select bitrates which apprently BeSweet cannot encode (eg, 12). Should something be done about that?

Sirber
27th April 2006, 17:39
8 and 12... wierd

might remove them one day... or the day after.

Eretria-chan
27th April 2006, 20:20
I just tried to a test encode with a video taken with FRAPS from Oblivion... needless to say, even at -6 filtering, it smoothes out too many details. Perhaps it's just the low bitrate (200 kbps), or is it? It was merely a test to see if I could lower the bitrate somewhat and still keep the details in the movie.

Sirber
27th April 2006, 21:52
what is your rez?

Eretria-chan
27th April 2006, 21:54
640 x 400

Sirber
27th April 2006, 21:58
I don,t even do 200kbps for anime... try 500 or higher.

Eretria-chan
27th April 2006, 21:59
Yep, I noticed that. I tried 500 and it is... okay. With no filtering, since it removes much detail.

anne_so78
29th April 2006, 00:45
xAnime looks cool! Hey Sirber, could you remove B-Frame tweaking in xAnime and just provide great presets like Sharktooth's profiles (eg. StaxRip) ? I hope you haven't removed the "delay" function or the delay bug has been finally corrected... Have you considered including the new Winamp codec (don't know if it is better) ?

Sirber
