Hey Sirber, I would love to use x264 but I can't because I stream my anime through XBMC (Xbox Media Center) and x264/h264 (I don't know the difference) makes it lag
but I found sharktooth's profile http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101813
and this post right here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=761466#post761466
and it doesn't lag at all
I was wondering if it's possible that you could use those settings for one of your profiles
If possible it would be really great and I'd appreciate it alot!
Keep up the good work
Thanks
Sirber

"Normal" profil has been made for med-end PC playback, not 700MHz celeron ;)
a commandline would be more usefull than some megui profiles if you want me to add a xbox profile.
Sirber

It's less "customizable" but anyway v4.0 supports AVS as input. (not RC3)Seems RC3 has AVS input.

how about an "Xbox" profile, like you do for ipod or psp :thanks: :o
EDIT just read your second line, i'll try looking for a commandline
Here's the commandline taken from megui-x264 show commandline that works for xbox
C:\Program Files\x264\x264.exe --pass 2 --bitrate 1000 --stats ".stats" --bframes 2 --b-rdo --nf --no-cabac --subme 6 --analyse p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,p4x4 --qpmin 18 --qcomp 0.3 --me umh --progress --no-psnr --output "" ""

Alright! Gonna add one. Looks like iPod but with more rez :)

In fact, that xbox profile is WAY OUT TO DATE.
The latest XBMC i used worked fine with almost all features, except CQM.
For example my latest encode x264.429.cbs_csi_hdtv.sample.624x352.mp4
x264 --progress --pass 1 --bframes 16 --me dia --ref 1 --subme 1 --no-fast-pskip --filter -3:-3 --analyse none --output NUL cap.avs
x264 --progress --pass 2 --bitrate 528 --bframes 16 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --weightb --ref 16 --mixed-refs --trellis 1 --me umh --bime --subme 6 --8x8dct --no-fast-pskip --filter -3:-3 --analyse all --output x264.mp4 cap.avs
(bitrate 1024 runs fine too)
Runs very smooth on my xbox, using: XBMC.2006.0119
Xbox mostly has problems with high resolutions (like any PC :p)
So for xbox, there is no real profile needed, well maybe disable CQM only, but thats not on by default anyway.
Sirber

@bobor
Then, Normal profile should do. Should I force a rez for xbox (like I do with iPod / PSP)? Like 640x480, with black bars if it's 16:9 (displayed 640x480)?
bob0r

@Sirber
Nop
People who want xbox encodes, just should update to latest XBMC and figure their own wanted res, just like on your PC.
Sirber

Dang I'll try updating
I always thought that if you don't have problems with a certain version, you really shouldn't update
and i also thought the xbox processor would never be able to handle h/x264

That's really good news. About newest AAC+ V2 encoder from Winamp 5.2 beta, do you plan to use that codec when Winamp 5.2 final came out?
Xicor
12th February 2006, 16:14
I tried using x264 for nth pass encoding, but the encoding is really slow (4fps! per pass)
I run on a dual core 2-Intel Pentium 4, 3201MHz. So as you can see my PC is up to date. Is this normal for x264, because this was my first time using it?
Sirber
12th February 2006, 16:49
I assume you used "High quality". I get ~2FPS on my 3000+ :)
Best use 3-pass @ Medium, and you can add trellis in the Advanced tab. You should get around 12FPS.
damrod

and 12 fps with x264 is great !!

Xicor
12th February 2006, 20:29
In total it comes around to 7 hours for a 24-minute encode. It's not that bad I guess, since the results are pretty good:cool:

Hi all.
I tested RealAnime on my material quite a bit. Simple using works well. Now I want to go further. I discovered some filters on 'Video Filtering' page along with some presets. The question is what to choose.
What filters and what presets worth most?
Sirber
13th February 2006, 13:18
Hi!
Best not filter. You filter only if your source is bad. Like blury, squary, too small, too big, etc. You can always press "Preview" and see what your filtering do. Also, filtering takes CPU and make the encode slower :)

What about the MPEG and M2V containers support? I tried to convert but MPEG files converting gives error #57 in BeSweet and M2V can not be dragged into the RealAnime?
Otherwise the GUI is cool :)
Sirber
13th February 2006, 17:01
can you post the "info" of your mpeg? It'S in the rightclick menu in the file list. About M2V, you need to use DGIndex on it like every MPEG2 source.

yes. did you try it?
Sirber

Final version is on it's way. We are currently finishing the needed automatic fitlering for handeled devices and making tests to be sure everything is working "nikel ;)".
Final package should be 20MB as advertized. I mighe remove avisynth, ffdshow and helix codecs and make them download "from the web". We would save aound 6MB.
BoostAddict
14th February 2006, 03:34
hmm having my own ffdshow and helix codecs won't mess things up will it?
i didnt know (i didnt read, my fault) realanime came with its own ffdshow and helix codecs
maybe that's why i see 2 ffdshow icons in my system tray
but that wouldn't effect my encodes in any way will it?
Sirber

No problem having your own helix and ffdshow. I bundle them to be sure you have them. New installer is 14MB. :D

All the components that are bundled with ra, where are they stored in the cvs? The output folder? Any other components that it uses that are not in there?
I simply wish to zip each of the components individually.
Sirber
14th February 2006, 13:10
@DnA
What was your settings for MPEG? Can I have the source?
@Eretria-chan
They are all on the SVN in output folder.
Eretria-chan
14th February 2006, 13:24
So the sub-folders in the output folder is all the components that ra needs?
No, that can't be right...
I see the bin folder contains a lot of components. I also see mplayer in there.
But I don't see ffdshow nor helix codecs. Were they removed from the cvs from some time ago?
I can't pick together each of the components. Are each component in the bin folder stand-alone or part of some application? Does an application consist of two or more of those files? Confusing!
Sirber
14th February 2006, 13:31
ffdshow, avisynth and helix codec are not on the SVN.
the only "component" avalible are producer and besweet. The rest is just DLLs and EXEs in bin/ and avs/
also, update your copy ;)
Eretria-chan
14th February 2006, 13:35
Are these exes and dlls significant? Do they belong to a specific app?
Zipping and uploading all these files will result in a lot of wasted space (hence a lot more for the end user to download). Therefore, I shall try to package them in the components they belong to.
Like the files in the avs directory are probably filters. So they basically belong to the main app?
Sirber
14th February 2006, 13:46
the DLLs are needed for filtering, you can zip them together. You can make a ZIP too of the EXEs from bin/
In any case the user need all those things :)
Eretria-chan
14th February 2006, 13:55
That's 5.58 mb at max 7zip compression >_<
This is getting to be a pain...
But there is a solution, yet! Upgrade! I shall experiment with that instead...

I use
mpegsource("D:\TMP\video.mpg")
but thus the audio is not found.
Otherwise I agree that the x264 + aacPlus v2 encoder from CT in MP4 container is the best video solution ;)
Sirber
15th February 2006, 16:40
mpegsource is better than directshowsource for MPEG?
DnA
15th February 2006, 16:47
With DirectShowSource I get this "Encoder error#57 (BeSweet)" message. Hmm...:confused:
Sirber
15th February 2006, 17:13
Does it work with moegsource? Maybe you get Error 57 coz the source is 32kHz. RealAnime is supposed to upmix it to 44kHz.
DnA
15th February 2006, 17:15
With mpegsource only the video is processed, no audio output. With DirectShowSource the status bar displays the error message and no output is written at all.
Sirber
15th February 2006, 17:41
When using RealAnime on it, in the temp folder, what are the specs of the produced .wav?
DnA
16th February 2006, 09:08
This is the information about the CLOCK_3.mpg file (no AviSynth script used, the MPEG file is dragged on RA). RealAnime creates nothing when I press the "Start" button. (no.wav file, no .mp4 file) RA gives only the error message in status bar.
And if I try to make a Preview (Settings->Video Preview) the application crashes ("Access violation" error message).
Another issue - the RealAnime drops the audio tracks of .AVI files. The output file is video only. :(

RealAnime currently can't handle mono streams from MPEG or other sources that goes in via AVS.
also, RealAnime can't "don't encode audio" from AVI. What are your settings for the AVI that has output video only?
DnA
16th February 2006, 16:03
Sorry, with AVI everything works fine, my mistake. I was confiused, because in Preview mplayer.exe displays "Audio: no sound".
Sirber

@RealAnime Devs
Could we put some efforts to finish it? It'd be nice to release it ASAP :)
What is missing or incomplete:
* Automatic filtering for handled profiles
* XML (Save/Load) for filtering
* Keep audio or sub track by it's number
* Guide
* Testing ;)
