- AVSMeter updated to release 2.0.6 (changed ConUseSTDOUT=1 and TimeLimit=3600 in AVSMeter.ini)
Just curious - Why a time limit of 1 hour? Doesn't AVSMeter in your program just retrieve the clip details (which would take milliseconds)?

Take a 4gb m2v file, frameserve it with DGIndex or FFMS2, on "vintage" PC (such as our friend manolito's ;) ), the reading process will be way long. Actually 1hr may be too much for the standard user patience and can be decreased.
Unfortunately there are around few m2v files which header does not contain the video time and frames count tags. MediaInfo hence cannot output them. A2D relies on AVSMeter as backup media info reader in these cases.

I still don't get it. The "TimeLimit" setting does not apply when you invoke AVSMeter with the "-i" ("-info") switch in order to read the clip properties. The setting only limits the time the program reads frames, i.e. "normal" operation without using the "-i" switch.

I assumed that the TimeLimit was meant to set a "kill" time for AVSMeter execution. If not, I will reset it. No big harm anyway, old fashioned users will wait.
Thanks for making this point clear

I don't blame you, the description I wrote for this setting was a bit ambiguous. I updated the documentation.

Here's a new version of my Wavi_Mod plugin which offers alternative methods for audio normalizing. This is a major update with the following changes:
Replaced R128Gain with BS1770Gain. It supports normalizing according to the ReplayGain 2 (-18 LUFS), EBU R128 (-23 LUFS) and the ATSC (-24 LUFS) standards.
The Bit Depth for the intermediate PCM stream (or WAV file) can be specified. Either the resolution which AviSynth spits out can be used without change, or you can force 32bit float, 24bit int or 16bit int resolutions.
Several changes to make the plugin compatible with the latest A2D Alpha version.

Hi. How to add/use it? Thanks :)
The plugin comes with a comprehensive manual. Note that you will have to patch the AVS2DVD executable using a hex editor. If you are not comfortable with this then the plugin is not for you...

Yeps. That rules me out.
Don't be so shy, using a hex editor is no different from using a text editor... :) I recommend HxD, it even comes as a portable version.
Anyways, if you want to try my plugin without patching anything, I just uploded a new version which contains already patched versions of the latest stable A2D version 2.8.2 as well as the current Alpha 2.8.3. I recommend to use the latest Alpha.
//EDIT//
Uploaded a new version which includes "patchit" by McAfee for automatic patching of the A2D executable. Works for current and future versions of AVStoDVD. Removed the already patched executables from the distribution.

Wavi_Mod plugin for AVStoDVD
Looks like my plugin did not survive the recent server crash at SourceForge. The link is there, you can download the file, but the file is way too small and cannot be opened... :scared:
Anyways, here is an updated version with the following improvements:
1. Implemented mandatory clipping protection for the EBU R128 / BS1770 normalizing mode.
2. The stereo to 6-ch upmix mode has been expanded. Now there are 3 different upmix methods which can additionally be tweaked. Thanks a lot to Tebasuna for his help.

Hi guys. Thanks for the updates/wave plugin. Going to try it out.
I got one more question. Is there any way to make AVS2DVD remember my output settings of directly burning to DVD? Thanks!

Bug Fix for the Wavi_Mod plugin
The automatic clipping prevention routine of the EBU R128 / BS1770 normalization modes had a small bug. In some cases the routine would use peak normalization instead of EBU / BS1770 normalization.
The fix has been tested on more than 30 clips, should be fool proof now... (trying to do floating point math with the good old batch language can be a littly tricky  )

I am sorry if this has been answered before.
I have tried searching this thread but couldn't find an answer.
I am using AVStoDVD 2.8.1.
I am trying to convert an avi file.
AVStoDVD lists the audio file as "MPEG-1" and also says it is "internal".
I am using LAV codecs for video and audio.
After AVStoDVD has run for about 30 seconds, I get an error message : "ERROR, Audio track contains no audio frames".
I've never had this problem before.
Can anyone please help?

I forgot to mention that I can play the file (movie) perfectly OK on my computer using VLC. Video and audio are great.
It's just that AVStoDVD doesn't seem to recognise or can't find the audio.

Hi Nordo,
to be able to help you, please post your AVStoDVD log file and make a screen shot of the filter graph and also post it here...
Using the latest AVStoDVD version is also a good idea.

Your filter graph is correct, but the log file is a little short. The whole AVStoDVD log file is needed.
You should update AVStoDVD to the latest version. Also AviSynth should be updated to version 2.60 and LAV Filters to version 0.65. And generally you cannot discuss torrent downloads at Doom9.

I was trying not to be too explicite with what I was doing.
Regarding the log file, how and where do I capture the whole file?
I tried searching through this thread and other places but could find any instructions.

After a conversion the log file will be in your output folder. If the DVD title is "DVD" (the default) then the log file will have the name "DVD.log".
This is a regular text file. Open it with Notepad, copy and paste the whole content into your post. For better readability you can "quote" the log content. Or you can upload the log file to a file hoster like SendSpace or Zippyshare and post just the link.

A little bit OT, but it should be a bit of additional motivation for folks like MrC and others who still engage in writing software to create and modify DVDs:

DVD sales are still more than twice as high as BluRay sales. The tendency on this forum to look at the DVD as an obsolete technology is not justfied... :p

FFMpegSource and HEVC (H.265) source files
ffms2 v. 2.17 which comes with AVStoDVD cannot decode HEVC source files. To handle these sources you have to update ffms2.
You can either use the official Myrsloik builds at GitHub, or the C-plugin builds by qyot27.
The official builds should work right out of the box (I could not test them because they won't run on my old CPU). The C-plugin builds can also be used transparently by AVStoDVD, but it requires a little tweaking. BTW you find the latest build here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1739037#post1739037
If anyone is interested in using a qyot27 build, let me know...

@SuLyMaN
Please be patient... This subs autoloading feature still needs some refinements (and further testing from the side of the BatchMux middleware) before its introduction into one alpha or beta release of AVS2DVD...
I am working on this - as reported in the thread freshly created on the restart of the BatchMux development. In the next hours there will be a consolidation of the BM test cases... And some other news... Even if the subject addresses mostly MrC, I will keep all users and interested people well informed and updated on the matter...

Exactly. The version which ships with AVStoDVD is 0.26.
And before someone asks, yes you can use 0.28 with AVStoDVD as long as you have AviSynth 2.60 installed (you have to rename HCenc_028.exe to HCenc.exe).

What is the best way to handle it in AVStoDVD?
Thanks for your help.

Have you already tried it?
LAV Audio handles Opus audio right out of the box, so the conversion should work without changing any settings. If it does not work for you, please post your AVStoDVD log file...

Thanks Manolito.
I saw no reference to Opus in the log or the setup screens.
If I convert the audio of the original mkv video to MP3 using VLC, and substituting it for the Opus audio, the project works. Also, the codec graph looks OK (all LAV including LAV splitter).

Hi Adam,
thanks for the log file, I think I know what causes your problem...
Looks like you forced FFMpegSource as your video and audio source filters. This means that LAVFilters will not get used.
The ffms2 version which comes with AVStoDVD is quite old (version 2.17), and I believe that it does not support Opus. You should try to specify A2DSource (or DirectShowSource) for video and audio and see what happens.
If you want to stick with FFMpegSource you should manually replace the old version with a newer one (the necessary files reside in the "AVStoDVD\Lib" folder).
Cheers

Hi Manolito,
Once again, you are right on the money.
I selected A2DSource for Avisynth preferences both video and audio.
I ran the project with no other changes, and it finished with an excellent ISO file.
I still have a couple of questions:
1. Can I leave the preferences at A2DSource, or should I return them to FFMpeg?
2. I found ffms2.dll in the Lib folder but don't know where to update.
I would prefer to use LAV throughout if possible.
Many thanks for your help. I would be happy to post the log of the successful project if you are interested. Just let me know.

1. Yes, you probably should have A2DSource specified as your default source filter (explanation follows...). This is the AVStoDVD default setting.
2. To update FFMPEGSource to the latest version 2.22 you need to overwrite ffms2.dll in the A2D\Lib folder with the one from this download page:
https://github.com/FFMS/ffms2/releases
I think that ffms2.lib should also be extracted to the A2D\Lib folder. I could not test this version myself because it won't run on my ancient CPU, though. And you should use the X86 version, even if you are under Win-64bit.
Now a little technical stuff about source filters:
To be able to decode the source file, AviSynth needs a "source filter". AVISource and WAVSource are built into AviSynth, other common external source filters are MPEG2Source (for VOB and MPEG files), FFMPEGSource, L-SMASH and DirectShowSource. For DirectShowSource you will additionally need a splitter and a decoder package like ffdshow or LAVFilters.
All DirectShow based source filters suffer from the inability to seek precisely. FFMpegSource and L-SMASH do seek accurately, but they require that the source is indexed first (costs some time).
For AVStoDVD the ability to seek accurately is mostly not important because the source will only be accessed in a linear way (but there are some AviSynth filters which do seek forward and backward). In most cases using DirectShowSource together with LAV Filters will give you good results.
The A2DSource setting in AVStoDVD is special. A2DSource is not a source filter, it is a wrapper script which can switch between different source filters. It works like this:
For video it tries AVISource first, if this fails it tries DirectShowSource, and if this also returns an error it falls back on FFMPEGSource. It used to be that FFMPEGSource worked when everything else failed, but this is no longer true for the old version 2.17 (does not support Opus and HEVC aka H.265).
Cheers

Hi, I've been trying to use MKV subtitles and it's impossible. The .mkv contains 6 subtitle tracks, and only audio and video are detetcted by AVS2DVD. Using tools > Demux shows all the tracks, I check the subtitle I want to use, it is saved as .pgs and AVS2DVD does not recognize it. I tried MKVExtractGUI2 and it saves the subtitle as .sup. AVS2DVD now recognizes the subtitle track, but the result is the same: NO SUBS IN THE DVD.
Here's the log:

Hi herkow!
Welcome, first of all... :-)
Apparently, from the batchmux.ini options, one subs file is fed to BatchMux:
-s1 "C:\Users\herko\Videos\DVD_2_xxx_1.sup"
-s1lang es
-s1ext 1
To ensure that this single subs stream is really present in the DVD, you may want to manually launch muxman.exe and to load your mxp project file into the GUI that will open. The project file that you have to load is this one:
"C:\Users\herko\AppData\Local\Temp\DVD_2_MuxMan.mxp"
Once the project is loaded into the MuxMan GUI, no warnings should be present, if the subs asset is compliant. Otherwise it may have been discarded... To check this, if you press "start", your DVD will be produced again, and a log file regarding the muxman authoring will be created directly under C:\
The log file will be named: C:muxman.log
It would be interesting to have a look also at the content of this file...
:-)
Cheers,
SD
