Calmart, you really shock me ;) One frame video and flipped video... :scared:

Let me do some check with a "1 frame" video sample like yours. About flipped video, you should ask in AviSynth section, because AVStoDVD does not add any instruction like that.

:)

MrC,
perhaps I'm configuring AVStoDVD incorrectly for the audio encoding, but it seems to be choking while Aften is needed to encode the audio. The source is an m2ts of the In the Name of the King movie. I've tried three different times..using the original m2ts from the Bluray with DTS-HD audio, that m2ts remuxed with TSMuxer whilst downconverting that DTS-Master to DTS, and also a BD-Rebuilder output which was a BD-9 with 640 kbps AC3 audio. All three errored in Aften stating something about error allocating buffer? @ frame 0??
I should've saved a screenshot of the Aften command window, but thought it would show up in the AVStoDVD log, which it didn't...

Below is the latest log, not sure if you know what may be going wrong or what I may be misconfiguring.
I remember you mentioning to me how AVStoDVD is superior to ConvertXtoDVD which I normally use, and on this 2 hour 45 minute film I thought I'd give it a full encoding attempt.
The m2v produced by HCEnc does look far better than the ConvertX output... just if I can get AVStoDVD to get Aften to to worlk on the audio??

The version of Aften in BD-Rebuilder works fine on the m2ts fles regardless of which audio format as a source.

Has anyone noticed any stuttering during the first 5mins when re-encoding mkvs to dvd? Its a very slight stuttering but its really noticeable when the camera is moving.

No worries...... I just used the AVStoDVD/HCEnc generated m2v, muxed it with the AC3, and then used DVDStyler to produce a DVD manually.... turned out incredible...

thanks anyways but it appears that I won't need your help afterall to make a nice DVD version of this long BD movie 'In the Name of the King'.... ConvertXtoDVD does a fine job on shorter movies....
Would have been nice if AVStoDVD worked for me all the way thru though, because it would be a lot easier to use...;)
maybe I'll give it another try down the line, but it really sucks when it runs for 4 hours using HCEnc then chokes with aften...

MrC

@MikeyBK

Be careful when muxing the AC3 output from BD: you said that its bitrate is 640 kbps, which is not DVD-compliant (max is 448 kbps). For max compliance you should re-encode audio @ 448 kbps.

Before starting an AVStoDVD project, mainly if it could be last for a long time, it is always better to run the Preview Clip section. For example, if you have not correctly configured your directshow audio mixer (i.e. ffdshow), then an AviSynth error message will be prompted. That could be a reason of Aften crashing in AVStoDVD.

;)

Thanks for the info MrC...
I'm currently now trying it with 448 kbps AC3 in that m2ts... will let you know if that was it.
As for the audio mixer in FFDSHOW, it is set how it came as default. Do I need to configure it differently for aften to work with AVStoDVD?

Aften in BD-RB doesn't seem to have any issues with any of the audios for me?

Kudos to you MrC! You pinpointed the problem pretty well. It ran perfectly once I had the AC3 audio encoded to 448 kbps in the input m2ts file.
And the results are absolutely fantabulous.. Incredible PQ.

Thanks for a great app.... will recommend it to all...

MrC

Nice to hear you fix it! :)

About ffdshow audio mixer, best setting (I do not remember if it is the default setting) is "same as input". So you can forget to switch between 1.0, 2.0 and 5.1.

I am trying to process an m2v file and make it smaller through AVStoDVD, and I am getting an upside down image.

This is not the first time I get this upside image with this program. On other times it did show an upside image when previewing title output, but the final output was fine.

This time is the opposite: the preview looks fine, but the output is upside down.

The log file is this:

1. Download and install 2.1.4 release
2. Force DirectShowSource instead of A2DSource. Go to 'Settings'/'Encoding'/'AVS Source Filter'

Let me know

IMO there is some kind of codec misconfiguration. I suggest you to uninstall *every* video codec and splitter you have installed and try only with a stable ffdshow release.

If you get again the error, then send me (avstodvd@gmail.com) a short sample of your video file.

Did you search into Doom9 forum for a similar issue?

Before going into a deep uninstallation, it would be better to get of list of "safe" codecs and what should be installed. Is there a place we can get that?

If you get again the error, then send me (avstodvd@gmail.com) a short sample of your video file.

That's fine, but it might be better to upload it somewhere, or it may take days to send

Just now, only a little bit. But it's been happening now and then for some time. That's why I did spend some time lately doing things though avisynth directly.

I have installed Avisynth 2.58 and also the DirectShowSource_2587 update. A simple Version AVS script is working fine and is showing the correct version number in WMP.

I have downloaded AVStoDVD_214_NoInstall.7z and unpacked it in a dedicated folder. But when I run it it keeps on saying that Avisynth is not found.
I have reinstalled Avisynth and also the DirectShowSource update but that didn't help, AVStoDVD still can't find Avisynth. But Version.avs is still working fine.

Windows XP 32 bits
Avisynth is in C:\Program Files\Avisynth
AVStoDVD is in E:\Test\Video\AVStoDVD

Any ideas why AVStoDVD can't find Avisynth ?

@calmart

for broken codecs, follow MysticE suggestion (:thanks:)

for uploading large files, you can use mediafire.com

@Brazil2

AVStoDVD checks if in the win registry the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AviSynth" is present and if it contains the string "AviSynth". Could you please check it manually and report back?
BTW you can skip software integrity control routine by disabling AVStoDVD spash screen ('Settings'/'Misc')

I did go with Filmmerit and ordered it to repair the problematic files one by one.

There was only one I couldn't repair or find the dll of, not even looking for it on the web. It should be video compressor codec called cmiccodc.dll

But I went a different way with that film, using HCgui and avisynth.

Thanks anyway.

The key exists but it's empty. There is only a Default value which is empty as well.
Please you could tell me how this registry key is exactly supposed to be ? Export this registry key and post it as a Code part maybe ?

But that doesn't help because Avisynth still appears as not found in the software list.

On a correct AviSynth installation, key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AviSynth" should have a default value like this: "C:\Program files\AviSynth 2.5" (this is what AVStoDVD checks) and a "plugindir2_5" value like this: "C:\Program files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins"

Even if you get the warning that AviSynth is not found, you can ignore it and continue using AVStoDVD

OK, it's now working fine after adding these keys to the registry.

I don't know why they weren't there, maybe because I have changed the default installation folder from "AviSynth 2.5" to "AviSynth" ? It might be a bug in the Avisynth installer.

Anyway thanks for the info :)

Hi again, I've just tested the latest build (above) and found a few bugs and have a few feature requests/small changes. One question is imgburn allowed to be distributed/used in other software? Because if it is you could include in the installation/no install version using the portable imgburn version. Another question is how do you manually add another menu page? Is it possible to change the bitrate/resolution of the menus? Lastly, is there a way to just choose one bitrate for video encoding like the audio encoding? I'm sorry I don't understand all the low/high bitrate settings. Most dvd apps I've tried have just one setting for video bitrate. Is there a way to access the chapters by way of menu? Anyways some bugs I found would be I had a mpeg file encoded by Kiss encoder ([url]http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Kiss_DTV_2_DVD) that said I had to type in a duration time. Another bug I found was that sometimes when you try to edit the titles a second time I got an error message-runtime error '383' 'Text Property' is read-only. Another bug is when I tried using already dvd-compliant files I got this log where it failed to encode audio.

Some features/small changes I hope to see if possible would be a simple way to adjust video bitrate meaning one value like the audio bitrate is done. Also, on the resolution option show the size and profile-vcd-352-240, etc. Also, in the menu-manual bitrate adjustment, resolution size, custom menu navigation, custom highlight of button color, the ability to place text anywhere, and a way to create a new menu even though you don't have any more videos to place in, chapter menu access, etc. Oh yeah, maybe a full abort button so you don't have to go through all of the encoders and have to quit them all to end the encoding/authoring.

I know this a lot to read, but thanks in advance for how many questions you answer and features you would put in.

Oh yeah, i'm getting this error also.

Hi MrC,

Trying out the new Alpha. What's with the main page icons, The 'X' previews, the '?' adds, the '+' edits, and the 'film reel' removes??????

MrC

It is a *very* alpha release, maybe a little too anticipated. I had time to do very few debug work, but I want to share it with you. I know your patience and your will to help ;)

Hereafter the long new features list (main are in bold).

- Added support to customizable DVD Chapters (new tab in 'Title Edit' section and new functions in Preview Clip section)
- Added support to multiple Audio Tracks input files (many input Audio Tracks -> one output Audio Track)
- Added last 5 recent Projects history in 'File' Menu section
- Added 'Title Edit'/'Refresh Title' option
- Changed 'Settings' section in 'Preferences' section. Warning: now all changes made in 'Preferences' section are NOT reflected in current project settings.
- Added Wave PCM Audio support
- Added 'AC3 Audio Encoder' to 'Preferences'/'Encoding' (Wavi+Aften, FFmpeg+Aften, QuEnc)
- Added 'AUTO' option to 'Preferences'/'AudioVideo'/'Video Resolution'

- Moved 'Advanced Settings' tab from 'Preferences' to main AVStoDVD window (added new button/switch in the taskbar)
- Added 'Post Process' options in main window 'Advanced Settings'
- Removed 'DVD Label' from 'Preferences'/'AuthoringBurning'
- Added 'DVD Label' option to main window 'Advanced Settings'
- Removed 'Enable Multithread Encoding' option from 'Preferences'/'Encoding'
- Added 'Enable Multithread Encoding' option to main window 'Advanced Settings'
- Removed 'DVD Menu' tab from 'Preferences' section
- Added 'DVD Menu'/'Wizard' command & new form
- Added 'DVD Menu'/'Reset' command
- Added support to multi pages DVD Menu
- Added support to 4:3 Aspect Ratio DVD Menu
- Added possibility to remove 'Play All' button from DVD Menu
- Improved 'MaxMenuTitles': from 17 to 99 titles

@Milardo

One question is imgburn allowed to be distributed/used in other software

ImgBurn is distributed only in the Installer package. Because of the new features complexity and number, I have decided to distribute only the NoInstall package.

Another question is how do you manually add another menu page?

Using the Menu Wizard, you can select the max titles number per page.

Is it possible to change the bitrate/resolution of the menus

No, it is fixed (6000 kbps for video and 192 kbps for audio).

is there a way to just choose one bitrate for video encoding like the audio encoding?

Yes. Go to 'Title Edit'/'Video'/'Auto Video Setup'/'Auto BitRate Calculation'

Is there a way to access the chapters by way of menu?

Right now it is not possible. Menu supports only titles, not chapters.

Anyways some bugs I found would be I had a mpeg file encoded by Kiss encoder ([url]http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Kiss_DTV_2_DVD) that said I had to type in a duration time.

Well, you should address your complain to Kiss encoder's author, to output mpeg files with all the corrects tags, to be read by MediaInfo library.

Another bug I found was that sometimes when you try to edit the titles a second time I got an error message-runtime error '383' 'Text Property' is read-only

You should be more precise. When does it happen? Have you seen any commonalities? Debugger's job is not easy... ;)

Another bug is when I tried using already dvd-compliant files I got this log where it failed to encode audio.

Thanks for the report. I will check.
[Edit 10/05/2009] Bug found for DVD compliant AC3/MP2 audio retaining. Will fix.

Also, on the resolution option show the size and profile-vcd-352-240

It can be added.

Also, in the menu-manual bitrate adjustment, resolution size, custom menu navigation, custom highlight of button color, the ability to place text anywhere, and a way to create a new menu even though you don't have any more videos to place in, chapter menu access, etc.

Wait, wait, I have only one life to improve AVStoDVD... and I am doing it in my little free time...

maybe a full abort button so you don't have to go through all of the encoders and have to quit them all to end the encoding/authoring.

Not possible: I do not have the full control of third part softwares. Forget it.

The last error could be caused by the AVS Source Filter used: FFMpegSource instead of A2DSource. Retry with A2DSource. And be sure you have a directshow codec to decode your asf file.

@MysticE

Really? It should not happen (of course :) ). Have you unzipped the package over a old AVStoDVD release? If yes, unzip to a fresh folder and retry.

New release looks great though I haven't tried it yet. Particularly interested in the 4:3 menu, and multi page menus.

What about HC Encoder 0.24. Not (yet) suitable for AVStoDVD?

Will it ever be possible to use .avs scripts as input files? I assume not, due to the way menus are created, but my source video files are combined and edited using Avisynth scripts, and I have to save those as .avi files to use AVStoDVD. It would be nice to skip that step, but I can live with it.

Thanks for continuing to develop. There are many promising freeware projects with only one developer that die out once the developer moves on.

Silly me.

A new problem. When converting a PAL VOB to NTSC it seems 'keep compliant audio' has to be unchecked?

Another odd problem. If I don't do all my changes in the correct order, 'Preferences' 1st, then 'View/Edit' or if I come back after a conversion and go to change some settings, when I hit 'View/Edit' I get this, then it crashes:

@hlrsnd

What about HC Encoder 0.24. Not (yet) suitable for AVStoDVD?

Yes, it is. But I prefer not to include it until it is still in a beta release. BTW you can overwrite HCenc.exe (0.23) with 0.24 and everything will work. Of course, 1-pass VBR will be not available.

Will it ever be possible to use .avs scripts as input files?

It will be. The only "difficult" issue is that MediaInfo does not support them, so I have to find another way to analyse a avs file.

@MysticE

When converting a PAL VOB to NTSC it seems 'keep compliant audio' has to be unchecked?

There are some new PAL->NTSC bugs to be fixed. Within one days or two there will be another Alpha. NTSC guys have to wait a little bit.

If I don't do all my changes in the correct order, 'Preferences' 1st, then 'View/Edit' or if I come back after a conversion and go to change some settings, when I hit 'View/Edit' I get this, then it crashes

Please, exactly list all the steps that bring you to the crash. It is very important to understand where is the problem.

Hi MrC,

Nice program. Is there any plan to re-write it to be HD/blu-ray import(ing) friendly? For the heck of it I fooled around trying to have your program load a raw m2ts avc file...."you" said, "I dunno know how long the length is, please input it manually". Something like that...I cheated by copying my own ultra-basic avisynth script that I created with AVSP over yours....

2nd, how about providing a "setup-page" for HCenc instead of having me to wait till "you" do your thing...

3rd, allowing me to use my own bmp/jpg for menu-ing?

Sorry for sounding so un-technical for I am just a joe-public.

TIA

Sir, how to compress the DVD video files?

MrC
13th May 2009, 19:39
@Surf

first of all thanks for the nice words and for using AVStoDVD. Then I think that you have all the solution at your hands.

1. If you are prompted to input the time length of the raw m2ts avc file, that's because MediaInfo does not recognize it. Please input it manually and go ahead.

2. A very simple HCenc setup page is already present: go to 'Title Edit'/'Video', toggle off 'Auto Video Setup' and a HCenc options button will be available. Does that suit your request?

3. You can already: in the DVD Menu Editor form, click on 'Edit Mode' and click on the menu background. In the 'Item Graphic Properties' section you can change the background image.

@ummus

What do you exactly mean by Sir, how to compress the DVD video files? Do you want to compress the DVD folders output by AVStoDVD? If yes, you can use DVDShrink.

;)

1. Strange that Mediainfo "cannot" recognize the m2ts within your program for I can do so outside by right clicking the file and it tells me all the blah blah blah.

2. All I like to see is the ability to tell HCenc to use a desired matrix and to go nuts and max out the bitrate for I am attempting to backup with dual-layer size from the HD/Blu-Ray.

3. My bad. I missed it.

New request:

The ability to chop the beginning of the movie...dreamworks, buckenheimer...20th century, warner....blah blah..

Are you sure that using MediaInfo GUI you can read your m2ts video duration? If yes, could you post here MediaInfo text output? Or, better, could you upload (mediafire.com) a short portion of the m2ts to analyze it?

2. All I like to see is the ability to tell HCenc to use a desired matrix and to go nuts and max out the bitrate for I am attempting to backup with dual-layer size from the HD/Blu-Ray.

Have you found 'HCenc Advanced Options'? In that section you can select your desired matrix. In 'Title Edit'/'Video' you can manually increase video bitrate.

New Alpha (http://sourceforge.net/projects/avstodvd)is out.

Change log from previous Alpha:

- Some bugs fixed (included ac3 retaining and PAL->NTSC conversion)
- Added support to AviSynth scripts as input media format
- Added AviSynth function 'A2DInfo.avsi': a AviSynth Media Info function
- Added WxH pixels info in 'Edit Title'/'Video'/'Video Resolution'
- Re-added 'Avs2Avi' (AviSynth script processor)
- Improved errors handling

Take note that this Alpha will erase AVStoDVD registry key without any user warning. So, if you are planning to come back to 2.1.4 and you do not want to loose your preferences, make a backup of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVStoDVD.

Hi, thanks for the new version.

I found a few cosmetic issues:
- help icon at the top only shows about half of the icon with vista
- the only thing that works in help menu is donate

Also I was wondering if there was any plans to add bluray to dvd conversion I've seen this requested a few times and I could use a much easier method of doing it too. If so I see some of the functionality is already there but a few things that I notice are missing and possibile ways to add support are:
- HD audio input, tsmuxer or eac3to can extract AC3/DTS core, aften to encode to compliant AC3 bitrate
- subtitles, tsmuxer can resize bd sup to dvd sup
- chapters, eac3to can extract mkv like files that can be translated into celltimes format

Also it's probably been asked many times before but are there any plans to support CCE encoding?

Hi MrC,

Tying the new alpha, my previous problem 'Text Property is Read only' appears fixed.

Tried converting a PAL 4:3LB VOB (music vid) to 16:9 NTSC all went well except for the 'Trim' function (to cut a logo off the end).

It looked right in the Preview but the final conversion, although shorter than the original, 3mn 29s-> 3mn 25s, was not short enough.

Hi Everyone,

When I use AVSTODVD to encode a AVI (XviD) file to a VOB file , the settings are to change the 23.976 fps of the AVI into a frame rate of 29.970 fps for the VOB files.
And when I checked the completed VOB files , with MediaInfo , it says the VOB files do have a 29.970 fps .
But when I playback the DVD movie with Media Player Classic or Nero Showtime , either player will say that FPS playback rate is 23.8 , not 29.970 .
The movie looked great , but I was curious about the discrepancy between what my AVSTODVD log file (and MediaInfo) says the frame rate is , and what the media players say the frame rate is .
Any feedback on this will be appreciated.

While it's on DVD as 29.97 it really contains 23.976 material and the framerate was never really changed. This is known as pulldown.

Although that sounds correct MediInfo should report it as 29.970 fps.

@leoliver

I don't see any settings anymore for pulldown (there were in the past). It should be automatic.

What does the log say?

Thanks for the cosmetic bugs report! I will fix them. ;)

I really would like to do that. The main barrier is that I do not have a BD reader nor bluray discs... But I believe that some good HD clips could be enough. Could you point me where to download them on the web (yes, I'm a very lazy guy...)?

Also it's probably been asked many times before but are there any plans to support CCE encoding?

CCE 2.5 and 2.6x (thru EclCCE) were supported in the early AVStoDVD releases (till 1.1.3). Then I removed the support because I wanted to use/push only 100% free software

Mmmh, you trimmed @ frame 5130 that is exactly 3m25s (PAL) while full clip has 5236 frames or 3m29s, so I cannot see what AVStoDVD did wrong.

Could you check again? Have you already used the Trim function in AVStoDVD with/without problems?

Your welcome.

I uploaded 2 samples here (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?aoz2kn0mmz1) bluray.zip contains a typical bluray with different types of audio, a sub stream and chapters. seamless.zip contains a not so typical seamless branching bluray that has 1 mpls (playlist) that points to many m2ts. The mpls contains the chapter info so I'd imagine you'd need to add support for mpls input and actually MPC-HC gets the longest playlist from the bdmv files somehow so maybe you could add support for BD input in the same way. Both methods should allow for seamless branching BD's. Demuxing all streams with eac3to to an mkv then using mkv input is the best way I can think of handling seamless branched titles currently.

Oh ok, do you have any plans of adding functionality for 2.7 and SP2 in the future?

I currently have converted a few BD to DVD but it's fairly long and tedious doing it all manually as you can see but I also only use CCE as I paid $50 for it and figure I may as well use it. Also I do often get noticably better results, albeit mostly small, then I do with free encoders that's not to take anything away from free encoders which also do a really good job.

MysticE: you mean mediainfo should report it as 23.976? I agree as that pulldown could be any framerate at or below 29.97 but it should also mention that it has pulldown to be most accurate. Best place to mention it is on the mediainfo tracker at SF (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=86862&atid=581184)

Hi Mr.C,

The new version does not ask for time anymore....does ask for which audio track to use out of sooo many, thanks!

The very first time I used the program, I was prompted about ffdshow and overlay mixer....please clarify for I probably chose a wrong choice. When previewing, the audio went scratchy...

I tried a VC1 m2ts....the preview said something about line 8 of the avisynth. Yet you allow us to choose a2dsource, directshowsource, avisource....It is theDDS that I was successful in making my own manual backup not thru avs2dvd. Maybe prompting the user to inform the prog whether it is a avc or vc1 is a good idea? Maybe not, for Mediainfo should tell you that...

How about adding Spline32resize based on other posts...

TIA

P.S. how about using your preview screen to choose the specific point for chapters instead of just specific time...5min...?

Lol @meself with P.S.

I tried out the May 15 alpha-beta today. It worked fine on my very complex Avisynth script.

For me, the ability to use Avisynth scripts is huge. No longer do I need to make intermediate .avi files. Thank you so much. For me, AVStoDVD now lives up to its name; you can go directly from .avs files to DVD.

Some time ago, I tried several other (paid) programs which supposedly went directly from .avs to DVD, namely ConvertXtoDVD and TMPGEnc's Authoring Works. They both crashed. I also tried DVD Flick. It was very slow and didn't work right. For me AVStoDVD is better than any of these.

Now, a hopefully easy request. Make Options->Preferences->Save current Preferences as default apply for future projects. I believe that's the intent but for me it doesn't work. For every project, I have to change from PAL to NTSC, Chapter Interval from 5 to 999 minutes, etc., etc.

Thanks! I hope to have them analyzed ASAP.

Well, I must admit that my ToDo list is long enough to add also new CCE releases support... BTW, AVStoDVD is open source, so any contribution is absolutely welcome!

I think that best ffdshow output mixer setup is 'same as input', because it is the more generic one. The prompt is to change default ffdshow setting in this way. You can accept, skip or tell AVStoDVD to not disturb anymore.

I really cannot understand what is the problem. Start by posting the full AviSynth error message.

Yes, I can, but what are really the advantages vs Spline16?

Do you mean put 'Save current preferences as default' toggled on by default? No, I do prefer the user to be aware that he is making new "standards".
About not working, please check again because it should work (are you sure you have toggle on the option?).

Guys, what about the new multipage menu support? Have you tried it? Any issues/suggestions?

OK thanks, let me know if you need anything else and I'll try to provide it.

I'll take a look at the source code however I must admit that outside of batch and basic bash scripts I haven't had any success with programming except for following tutorials.

Multipage menu support is nice however I don't know about the left and right arrow placements, for some reason I think I might like them on the left and right side of the screen but some overscan might cut them off. This works though and it's probably the most typical spot for them on retail DVD's.

Speaking of menus, while current menus are really nice for multi-clip projects like tv series however when it's a single movie I don't find it very beneficial currently. This could all change though with a scene selection type menu that has instead of a play all button a play button that's default. The captions could read something like 'chapter 10 (1:05:31)' where chapter 10 starts at 1:05:31 into the movie. Would something like this be possible?

Maybe eventually could add a language selection type sub menu that lets you select which audio/subs to use?

Regarding my comment about "Save current Preferences as default," it doesn't make those current preferences the default for future projects. I would like it to do so.

AVStoDVD is currently set up for PAL. I use NTSC settings. Every time I start a new project, I have to change all settings to NTSC. "Save current Preferences as default" makes no difference for future projects, currently. I would like to make an NTSC project, save its preferences as the default, and have future projects open with those (NTSC in my case) settings.

I think the multipage menus are great. It looked like maybe the bottom parts of some text were cut off when using 6 columns with 2 lines of text. I switched to 5 columns and it looked better.

I have not found that to be the case. Mine stays on NTSC, along with the other settings I've changed.

Interesting. I'm running XP SP3 as a limited user. Could that make a difference? Haven't tried it as administrator.

To answer my own question, I tried running AVStoDVD as Administrator. I was able to set new Default Preferences, close the program, and reopen it with the same Preferences. That's what I wanted.

Then I ran AVStoDVD as a limited user, as I usually do. The new Preferences were now the default. As before, I could change them temporarily, but when I closed the program and restarted, my changes were gone. All settings were back to what I set as Admin.

So, Feature Request: Allow per-user Preference settings, including non-admin users.
