The problem is SetMTMode must be in the first line, if I save as a template, load avi, load template SetMTMode is on the third line and don't work. I will use instead MT, is big difference between SetMTMode and MT ?

It's any BD backup, irrespective of codec. Funny thing is StaxRip was working fine, so i'm thinking maybe it's non-StaxRip related, like maybe a Windows update to .NET. I'm on Win7.

hi, got a box set of Star Trek TNG, DS9 & Voyager for myself this Xmas,
in the process of converting them,
PAL
DivX Plus (Slow)
ABR 80Kbps
233MB File Size,
No Resize,
croped 720x to 688
the problem is i have noticed a wobble on one or two scenes (maybe more) on the far left of the screen, "only with Voyager"
http://www.mediafire.com/?msknbtbi3oc64d8 (i have cut the section here....only 3mb)
the quality of the encodes are great, but my question is this,
has this issue ever been seen before, & is it related to the Encoder (x264) or is this related to one of the Avisynth filters that Stax is using?
i have checked the source MPEG (VOB) files and no problem, i ripped the DVD again just in case, but it keeps happening, always on this scene,
i have tried now 5 times, it keeps doing it,
i know a lot of things get ignored here....... but PLEASE, this is a strange issue, this wobble on the scene happens to the left of the image, all the way down the left side of the screen,
thanks,

windows XP, stax uses DGIndex i believe,
but in all honesty i have no idea what ffms2 is,
i use staxrip, with practically default settings,
no errors of any-kind occurred, just that weird wobble on the far left of the screen, and it is repeatable,
i have seen many de-interlace problems, telecine issues, etc,
but never a wobble like that and only on the far left of the image in question?

Okay I tend to use ffms with staxrip as I like the result. In your filters change automatic to FFvideosource and then try your encode.
I am not sure what version of ffms staxrip has by default but I am using 2.14 which is available here http://code.google.com/p/ffmpegsource/downloads/detail?name=ffmpegsource-2.14-mt.7z&can=2&q=
You can check your version in tools -> application -> Source Filters -> ffms2.
If you want to change versions you will find the ffms2 folder here in staxrip subfolders C:\Staxrip\Applications\AviSynth plugins, you might want to rename the ffms2 folder to backup_ffms2. Then create a new ffms2 folder and extract your download to that folder.
Next F11 and select ffms2.dll in your new staxrip location, then okay, then F12 and change version to 2.14. Let staxrip and let me know how result is.

I'm trying to build DGAVCDecDI (http://neuron2.net/dgavcdecdi/dgavcdecdi.html) into Staxrip.
I have it now so far that I see the program in: Tools > Settings > Demuxing and I have add it in Tools > Applications > Demuxing & Muxing and Source Filters.
But now when I load a .ts file it will demux it with ProjectX and DGIndex but after this it should go back to Staxrip, but instead of that it wants to demux it again with DGAVCDecDI.
Someone here knows how I can fix this?

If you go toTools > Settings > Demuxing you should see something like: Demux MKV, WEBM, MP4, M2TS, MOV and FLV files.
If you uncheck all except that one, it should use FFMS2

Autocrop doesn't work with FFMS2, it hangs, that is a big problem for me (TV footage definitely needs to be cropped!!!)
and to be honest i'm still not convinced that DGIndex is responsible for causing a wobble effect of the far left side of the screen,
i don't see how an index system would be responsible for that, i maybe wrong, but DGIndex doesn't touch the image itself!
i would of thought filters, or encoders would be the cause?
I've also had 2 crashes with staxrip using FFMS2, not exactly a comforting start, definitely not for me, staxrip has become so unstable since using FFMS2, also been looking at forums regarding FFMS2, there does seem to be many reports criticising it's reliability!
i will try looking at the deinterlacer, and the encoder?
i find it hard to believe it's DGIndex, it's used far to much, and widely accepted as the best and most reliable method,
can't find anything on DGIndex causing such dis-configuration of an image,

Right click automatic in your filters list select - FFvideosource
@remicade
looking at it, I can save it in profiles and template no problem but its crashing my script. If you have got it working in stax can you show me a copy of your script?
Edit remicade it isn't staxrip its me I have vanilla avisynth installed not MT.
Therefore if you righclick on the filters window and select profiles, scroll down to [Misc] category and type.
SetMTmode = SetMTMode(2,0) and click OK. Then click on the top filter in the list (usually) automatic and select insert misc SetMTmode. then save as template. you should be good to go.

Hej all!
Previously having used only kinda "dumbed down" apps like Handbrake, I now ran into problems with audio sync with one DVD backup (Black Books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_books) - great series, btw). Xmedia Recode, my second choice does not have the option to add optional subtitles to the video, which is why I came here to look for alternatives.
As far as I have read, StaxRip seems to support not only forced subtitles but optional ones as well - at least there were some subtitles encoded in my resulting MP4 in a language called "GPAC IsoMedia Handler".
Now the questions: Where can I control which subtitles to use and how to add them to the video? Where can I set what language name is used for the subtitles?
Thanks! :-)

In the Options you need to ensure subtitles are selected.
http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af10/Sayth_Renshaw/staxsub.png
Also if you click config container when viewing your project you can add subtitles directly into the container. However the default should be fine.

I 'accidentally' also discovered that I could cut in preview mode and that SR also understands DVB MPEG2 rips. Very powerful programme indeed, just might need interface clarifications... :-)

Hi
I'm having a minor issue with my aspect ratio for wide screen dvd backups, when I first open a video with Stax in the Resize window it gives me a DAR of 1.823 and a SAR of 1.250, the SAR is okay I think but the DAR is to wide so I change the PAR in the Source Window to DAR 16:9, and that gives me a DAR of 1.778 in the Resize window which I think is what it should be, but then after I encode the video with Stax and check the aspect ratio of the encoded video its 1025:576 when it should be 1024:576.
I know thats not off by much but I would still like to know whats going wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated and let me know if you need any more info. Thanks

hi, i have ripped Avatar, everything is fine, but how do i get staxrip to rip the subs,
staxrip 1.1.7.0 does not rip the subs, vsrip doesn't even run,
i click on the sub bit, it asks me where the subs are, but there are no subs anywhere because staxrip didn't rip them,
I've found that Staxrip 1.1.7.0 won't automatically rip the subtitles if you change the default Temp Files Directory.

I have a great mystery going on here. I am seeing jagged edges on a 720 x 400 Xvid encode but I can't figure out why. I've used 2 sources, one of them progressive so its not a deinterlacing issue. I can encode a small clip of the file or the whole movie without audio and the problem isn't there. It consistently shows up when I try to encode the whole movie with audio. It almost looks like the resolution is way lower than it should be. I only see this on my Phillips DVP-3140 player, not on the PC. This means the player is seeing something different between the files but what? If I'm allowed to post pictures here, I could take one with my camera. I tried vidcaps in Media Player Classic and there is no difference.

Do you have Avisynth installed?
And can you open the ts file in windows media player?
And can you open the ts file in VLC?
Try both!
And I have a question for the coders here.
If you open the x264.vb file and go to the line: Sub ApplyDefaults(ByVal profileTunePreset As x264Params)
You see all kinds of presets for x264, now I want to make my own preset but I don't know what I need to put in it and what not.
Right now I'm using this command line:
"""%application:x264%"" --pass 1 --bitrate %video_bitrate% --stats ""%working_dir%%target_name%.stats"" --threads auto --keyint 240 --min-keyint 24 --bframes 3 --me dia --subme 1 --partitions none --output NUL ""%avs_file%""" + CrLf + """%application:x264%"" --pass 2 --bitrate %video_bitrate% --stats ""%working_dir%%target_name%.stats"" --threads auto --keyint 240 --min-keyint 24 --ref 3 --bframes 3 --weightb --subme 6 --trellis 1 --8x8dct --output ""%encoder_out_file%"" ""%avs_file%"""

Ok try this, I do this based on VLC 1.1.8
Start VLC
Media > Advanced Open File
Add > Search for your file, in your case 2011_3_25_3_25_29.TS > Open
Right to the Plat button you have a pulldown menu, select Stream
Next
Add > Browse > put a filename here for your new .ts file > Save
Deselect Activate transcoding
Now we need to select the right profile.
If it is a AVC file select Video - H.264 + AAC (TS)
If it is a MPEG2 file select Video - MPEG-2 + MPGA (TS)
Next
Activate Stream all elementary streams
Stream
Now try to open this new .ts file with Staxrip.

I've moved over to Staxrip from the excellent HDConverttoX(project appears to be finished?) and must say I am very impressed. There was an Avisynth filter I used in HDC and got marvellous results with every avi encoding: SoftSharpen(preset="film") I tried to isolate it, but could not find it in the filter folder(maybe part of a package of scripts?), as I would really like to use it with Staxrip.
The results using this filter combined with hq3dn_denoise filter with Xvid encodings were quite startling and deserve to be in the options of Staxrip.

You can add as many filters as you like in Staxrip. Perhaps an easy way is to copy the HDC filters folder(from the application folder you installed HDC to) and paste them into your c:\programs\avisynth\plugins folder.
You can then simply edit your profiles in staxrip to add as many filters in as many configurations as you like.

Excellent idea! I'm really glad I posted here, as people give superb practical tips which at the time you never seem to think of yourself when struggling for a solution. I originally wrongly thought you would have to place the filters directly into the Staxrip avisynth plugin folder rather than AviSynth's own program folder installed in the system.
You wouldn't have any additional user friendly tutorial handy on editing avisynth profiles specifically in Staxrip would you as I am newish to it? I found one below and it mentions plugins:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/staxmedia/index.php?title=A_guide_to_StaxRip#Copying_the_plugin_to_the_plugin_auto_loading_directory
I found the script for SoftSharpen 7.8(after opening in notepad) and apparently it is a list of tools, so it will be a bit trickier to make the profile. Incidentally I see Fluxsmooth is in Staxrip. I could never get that one to work in HDC as it kept crashing, but it works fine in Staxrip. I used to use Fairusewizard 2.11b after AutoGK. FUW produces good quality, but could do with additional filters built in like the avisynth denoise ones and AutoGK is dated now. Thankyou very much for your help flebber.:)

any solution on the SUB issue "I've found that Staxrip 1.1.7.0 won't automatically rip the subtitles if you change the default Temp Files Directory. "
i have changed my temp directory, had no choice, my C drive is only 12GB, i have other drives for my video, films, music, pictures and games etc.
