Updated to 1.1.2.3b. I like the new layout and profiles, but forcefilm appears to be broken.
Maybe I broke something since I've changed something in relating code.
Also where it used to display anamorphic its now blank. Is this intentional?
You mean the checkbox? The first two menu items in the new menu are now responsible for this but usually it's auto detected properly.

@stax76
getting StaxRip to work with eac3to and tsMuxeR would be a great start
bluray should be around for a little while so StaxRip would be futureproof for all backups for some time
home made, tv, dvd, bluray you would have it all covered
so many dont know the potential of this amazing program YET
bluray media prices are so high backing them up to x264 is very important
even though there are other programs alot of people are still looking for a easier better smarter "solution" for the task
StaxRip will be the answer!

calling AvsP to open .avs script so i can tweak filters before adding it as a job?

Your links tell me, that it's not running well with MT. SetMTMode 5 and 6 are used for such badly running filters.
maybe reverting AviSynth back down to tsp's 2.5.7 MT mod (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=94996) would help i'am using Jeremy Duncan 2.5.8 MT mod (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144852) atm
i dont remember having these memory problems with 2.5.7 any reason not to use AviSynth 2.5.7?

I don't have changed anything in this area but potentially any feature can break at any time.
.
Yeah, it's broke, but not a big deal.
By the way I have a buddy that has been looking over your shoulder. He says you are cleaning up the code and doing a damn good job of it. Thought I would pass that along.

SetMTMode 5/6 are used for plugins, which aren't working well when multithreaded, which is logical because fft3dgpu ist working on GPU.

Dear Stax,
I've been using your software for about 2 years now. And what a change it made for me! :D Thank you for all the work.
I think I came across a little bug in the latest beta. When I click something in the Filters area (let's say NOISE), the checkbox next to it dissapears. After I click on something else, that checkbox appears again, and the current one is lost.
Also, the selected encoding profile appears in the title (DivX Plus by default). Even if I change it to something else, the title remains the same.
Neither is very important, just cosmetics :)

No problem but I tried this too now and it also still worked. I don't spend much time with subtitles but please let me know if you have a idea what could cause the problem.
Hey, I think I've found the reason or the problem: unrecognised sub languages.
I've removed all languages but spanish with vobsubstrip 0.11 and now it works again.

Hi Stax
Just another suggestion
I usually rip my DVDs with DVD Decrypter and I create a chapter (ogg) file in the same dir as the vob file.
VTS_01 - Chapter Information - OGG.txt
It would be great to add an option to automatically add that chapter file into the mkv file
Thx again.:thanks:

http://www.stax76.bplaced.net/files/applications/StaxRip/StaxRip_1.1.2.4_preview_1.7z
Added option to show/hide paths in the x264 command line preview
Added new GUI for audio as foundation for Blueray/AVCHD formats
Fixed bug dga files handled with AVCSource even when created with NV tools
Fixed bug force film detection being broke
Attempt to fix filter checkbox render bug on XP machines

I'm not sure if you mean this but it's possible to start a second instance which can send created jobs to the first instance.

It's hardly possible since StaxRip don't work with scripts as whole. You can reopen the script StaxRip generates as source file, this would however force to start with a fresh template.

Maybe it's related to BeSweet output being redirected to StaxRip. IIRC something like this was reported some time ago, does this only happen with the latest built?

Hi Stax,
About v1.1.2.4 preview,
The new audio profile editor is terrible confusing,
The vbr quality switch in lame (-V) goes from 0 to 9, being -V 0 the highest VBR quality (~260+Kbps) and -V 9 the lowest.
Previous versions of Staxrip follow this logic (-V 0 = highest quality, -V9 = lowest quality), now in this new version things are upside down, the GUI shows -V1 as the lowest quality (~32kbps) while it produce ~220Kbps audio, and in the other hand shows -V10 as the highest quality (320kbps) while it produce 32kbps audio, not to mention that apparently the swicth -V 0 (~260+kbps) cannot be used, neither modify the command line in any other way :(

previous profile editor interface (good times :rolleyes:)

Otherwise, I don't know why but Staxrip crash when try to convert to any format (including recoding to xvid+mp3) the following file (a common avi, xvid+ac3), for worst it does not produce any log, just crash and close automatically.

@alexcel
Thanks for the files, I'll check it.
@Ryo94
The old interface is still there, the profiles in the advanced sub menu use it. I had to keep the old interface because some users might have setup custom profiles. It also gives flexibility being able to use any command line so I want to keep it since being able to use command lines was always supported everywhere in StaxRip.
For the new interface all codecs basically are used in the same way. AAC and Vorbis use 0 to 1 where 1 is high Quality. For Lame I could not do the same and I thought I can just multiply by 10, I did not notice it is also flipped. I'll flip it and make 0 available.
It's a bit difficult to merge all this in the same interface but on the other side having an independent interface for different codecs is probably worse both from developer and user view, firstly bloat and code duplication and secondly the user has to accustom to different interfaces instead of just one where everything is unified.
Otherwise, I don't know why but Staxrip crash when try to convert to any format (including recoding to xvid+mp3) the following file (a common avi, xvid+ac3), for worst it does not produce any log, just crash and close automatically.
Having no stack trace is very unfortunate, when exactly does it crash? Maybe you can also tell me in which version has it started?
Thanks for providing much detail and screenshots, makes it easier for me to understand problems.

In lame, -V x represents bitrate allocation, the lower the number the higher the bitrate allocation and hence quality.
HOWEVER :)
There is another setting that affects algorithm quality, again the lower the number the better.
The default is -q 5, however -q 2 (shortcutted to -h) produces better quality for the same bitrate, so would be beneficial to set as default. I don't believe there is any difference now between -q 0 and -q 2.
A good source for the latest LAME versions is here:
http://lame.bakerweb.biz/
I always use the latest build available there for my music encodes. Admittedly sometimes there isn't much changed between the automatic builds, but sometimes there can be some noticeable changes. The 3.99a1 builds with -V 4 and -q 0 produce very transparent results, the sound quality surprises people when compared to the same audio files often converted at higher bitrates.
--vbr new is the default setting now, setting that with recent builds is superfluous.

@burfadel
Thanks for the info, I've updated lame to the latest stable, added -h and fixed the switches for abr and cbr since they were broke too. I cannot remove the new switch because it's not clear which mode BeSweet will use.
@Ryo94
Does it crash while audio encoding or after (you can check length of the encoded file).

@Havokdan
At which position did it crash? What was the last file created/modified?

I went to sleep and left 10 files for conversion, when I woke up I noticed an error starting the conversion of the 3rd file. I used the Batch File for conversion.All files were similar, mkv/h264/aac/720p to avi/xvid/mp3/480p
