StaxRip usually sets the fps value generating a DirectShowSource filter, it uses MediaInfo for this, with your sample MediaInfo don't return a fps value so StaxRip don't set it, you can try to set it manually, before opening the source choose the DirectShowSource filter profile, double-click it to edit it and enter a fps parameter manually, in the editor there is a help button for DirectShowSource where you can find help for possible parameters. If you upload a sample maybe I can do something.

Just curious in the options menu you can choose to force FFaudiosource. In the audio settings you cannot choose FFaudiosource though. Not really important more just curious.

I'm not sure where to put it best, all settings in the audio settings dialog are per track/profile while settings in the options are per project/template. I'm thinking about it since a while, it could be moved, in the audio settings there could be a link to open the audio options and it could be moved and labeled and behave per project/template.

I need a profile settings for AVCHD encoding. I tried using MediaInfo with an AVCHD encoded file but the shown settings are not compatible for importing into StaxRip.
Here's is an example:
cabac=1 / ref=3 / deblock=1:-1:-1 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=hex / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.15 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-3 / threads=6 / sliced_threads=0 / slices=4 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / weightb=1 / weightp=0 / keyint=24 / keyint_min=2 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=24 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=7385 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / vbv_maxrate=24000 / vbv_bufsize=24000 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 / nal_hrd=vbr

You can use the parameters below, I copied them from a MeGUI profile, copy the parameters to the clipboard, in the x264 dialog, right-click the command line preview and choose import or go to the Command Line tab and click the import button.

--profile high --level 4.1 --bframes 3 --ref 4 --slices 4 --aud --nal-hrd vbr --b-pyramid strict --keyint 24 --min-keyint 2 --vbv-maxrate 14000 --vbv-bufsize 14500

@flebber

It works here, next version will set fps=10 for this codec, when you right-click Filters and choose Play does it play? Is there a error message? What is the last log entry? Interesting website btw. :)

Hi Stax it does play. I have just completed an encode, I am unsure why it froze.

With the videos do you know an effective method or setting for preserving the text in the videos on conversion. I like the site but his old videos can only be watched on the PC and I am at the PC to much at home and work lately.

@all

There are a couple of things at this forum I'm not happy with, there were several issues since the beginning, it seams the time is right now to leave doom9 supporting StaxRip at another place, this place can be found in StaxRip's help menu and as well as the support section at the project website.

cheers

Greetings. would be it possible to downmix 2chn audio track to mono? either by BeSweet, or by eac3to, or by StaxRip, or by a 3rd party application (conversion must be lossless), the presumption is audio track will be in .ac3 or .mp2 format, target should be aac. But NeroAAC nor eac3to doesnot seem to support direct mono downmix ;(

If you select edit next to your audio profile(down bottom right of main window) you can then choose your desired output level in the audio editor.

That's clear. :thanks: Didnot know it was added.

Just for the record: I tried this option but output track is 2 channel anyway: excerpt from mediainfo:

I believe that it is actually a mediainfo error. If you use staxrip and ffmpeg you will get mono output. I read the docs here http://howto-pages.org/ffmpeg/and the staxrip syntax for ffmpeg mono is correct. Mediainfo reports the file as 2 channels but look at the media report from ffmpeg it shows audio in converted file to be mono.

I'm encoding some MPEG2 TV recordings to XVid. Some of them have a little noise so I tried medium and low FuxsmoothST. Both of them seem to lighten the dark areas of the video so there is no true black. Is this normal or is there a setting I can change? Thanks.

Many probably noticed that I take part in a protest movement called doom10.org, it can be understood as protest movement against neuron2's moderation which many consider often inappropriate. There were long discussions with Doom9 which I rate very positive so I hope there is no longer a need for doom10.org and everybody can get along here at doom9.org.

I would recommend everyone asking for support on this forum, to attach a screenshot of their store receipt which makes clear where AND when they bought the media they are asking support for, otherwise all treads will kept being filled with neuron's paranoid accusations instead of support and positive minded discussions.

It's the most controversial rule, after the discussion I have a better understanding about why it's handled that strict, in doubt people can contact me by email as far as StaxRip support is concerned.

Changing some AviSynth or XviD options might help, you can try asking in the related forums.

Nevermind, I discovered it's a bug with my player or setup. I was using Media Player Classic in multiple windows to compare the results. The one that's opened first is fine but every other instance of MPC will be lighter. Hope this helps someone else.

Hi,

I tried to encoding this source but i can't. thirst time i tried there few month, i have any succes.
Yesterday i retried, with the last staxrip, staxrip choose directshow and it demux audio, but at encoding it does not extract the aac to wav so i don't have audio.
I encode manualy the wav to mp3 and that's work, it mux it at the end of process.
Today i want to retry encoding a sample before put the source sample to the forum, and now staxrip don't demux audio, i don't have the aac,
but if i choose to enco in mp3, in the enco process it demux it, but at the end audio is not syncro with de vidz.

So there are many strange things with this source.

This is a PAL DVB-IPTV source.

1) change extension from .mpg to .ts
2) open .ts in Ripbot264
3) select TFF -> 25 fps under deinterlace
4) ok -> done -> start

Problem solved

We are here to talk about staxrip i think. Your tools are certainly good but i don't use it.

Thanks for the info atak (if i can't have it to work in stax i give a try to ripbot)

stax76
14th September 2010, 15:55
@Atak_Snajpera

Since RipBot handles it with DirectShow too there would be the same sync issues.

@tasslehoff44

How did you record and cut this? MediaInfo says transport stream so it should have ts extension and not mpg which is used for program streams. By default StaxRip don't demux this type of file and handles it entirely with DirectShowSource, it's OK to have ts or avs as audio source file. If you have sync issues you can try to remux ts using tsmuxer or mux to mkv using ffmpeg, both might be able to fix sync issues, also DGDecNV.

tasslehoff44

I don't cut nothing, i just programed a recod of 1mn with adsltv (french player and recorder for most adsl french iptv provider) and it don't start directly, so you have a sample of 42s.

Since installing Staxrip 1.6.9 on my upgraded PC (finally a quad core) I'm getting this error:

Cannot start process because a file name has not been provided.
Arguments: -Xmx256m -jar "C:\ProgramData\StaxRip\Applications\BDSup2Sub\BDSup2Sub.jar" "D:\DVD\TEST\S01E06\VTS_01_1 temp files\VTS_01_1.idx" "D:\DVD\TEST\S01E06\VTS_01_1 temp files\VTS_01_1_Forced.idx" /fps:keep /forced+

It happens on every (DVD) source file I've tried. Never had a problem with v1.6 before. Since the sources tried don't have forced subtitles, I'm clueless what to do. Once I close the message, encoding is just fine. I'd like to get rid of it, since it makes batch encoding futile.
Anyone know what cause this & how to fix it?

@MikeTR

The current beta has a bug, if there is a idx file it tries to run BDSup2Sub even if no Java is installed.

@flebber

Please mail me the full log file.

@flebber

Your log file ends with auto crop, it don't contain audio processing and muxing.

Thanks for clearing that up. Should I install v1.6.8 (or another version) for now or install & use Java?

I suggest installing Java.

@flebber

I don't know why it's not complete but I can't do anything without log file entries or sample clip (can be created with mmg's split feature).

:thanks: works fine now.

Hi Stax. It appears eac3to may be my issue with that file. From the eac3to thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1444213#post1444213 eac3to has issues with mkv files containing vobsub. I changed staxrip to have audio encoding via besweet and encode went okay.

Sample of file that caused issue attached. http://www.mediafire.com/file/87sp8re9edx8te0/Snow%20White%20%26%20The%20Seven%20Dwarves%20%281%29-001.mkv

I don't see a problem with this sample, AC3 gets demuxed with mkvextract, AC3 gets converted to AAC with eac3to, AAC gets muxed with mkvmerge.

As soon as I use the full Snow White file I don't get any audio. I also found that the file below encoded without audio as well. Not sure why?

Hi all,

As this is my first post here I have to start with a big than you for the greatest free tool I've come accross.

now here's my problem in case any of you can help. I record a lot from my DVB antenna using mediaportal and then like to edit the ts file to compress it and get rid of all the ads. I used to run an XP machine where everything worked out correctly but since I moved into W7 am finding one persistent problem i don't know how to get rid of.

The thing is I cannot get Staxrip to recognize, and demux, the two audio tracks found in every recording. It gets only one out of the original (although there are two that i can get with tsmuxer).

Is there a problem a known problem with Staxrip in W7?
Is there a known problem with DGIndex and ts files?
Is there a workaround that would allow me to continue using Staxrip by adding the two audio track files i get out of tsmuxer?

Thnks againg for the great tool (and the help!),

ignacio

Maybe DGIndex fails to demux all tracks, you can try to enable ProjectX in the settings under Demuxing.

Is there a workaround that would allow me to continue using Staxrip by adding the two audio track files i get out of tsmuxer?

It should be no problem to open demuxed files regardless of how you demuxed them, right-click the source or audio input fields and choose 'Open' from the menu, alternatively double-click as shortcut.

Mmmm....

I'll give it a try but... how do I change DGIndex as the default demuxer? Thnx again,

ignacio

There are settings under Tools > Settings > Demuxing but it's not easy to understand, what container and codec has your source?

badgandalf

It's a .ts file captured using mediaportal from dvb...or how do i find out in order to respond to your question?

...and definitely the problem is with DGIndex as I tried using it directly and it did not demuxed the two tracks correctly whilst txmuxer did.

If it's MPEG-2 then it should be handled by DGIndex by default, if it's AVC then DGIndex cannot handle it, with AVC DirectShowSource is the default, if that causes sync issues you can try to remux or demux with tsmuxer or you can try DGDecNV.

1.1.7.0 beta (2010-09-19)

Fixed trying to create forced subtitle files without Java being installed
Fixed Java x64 not being detected
Fixed StaxRip trying to use a network directory as temp files directory, opening a source from a network directory StaxRip will now ask for a local temp files directory

Fixed bug failing to mux mono audio streams
Updated Nero to version 1.5.4
Updated x264 to r1724
Changed default audio processing back to BeSweet for input formats supported by BeSweet, apparently it's more reliable then eac3to
Changed start credits default to q=30, end credits q=35, reset preview dialog menu to force new defaults

The stack trace shows it crashed in the SaveSize method, this method was removed a long time ago, are you 100% sure you are starting 1.1.7.0 downloaded at sourceforge.net/projects/staxmedia? When you right-click the executable in explorer and go to the details tab page, does it show 1.1.7.0?

Ryo94
20th September 2010, 02:44
You're right, in details tab say 1.1.6.0, I downloaded from videohelp.com as v1.1.7.0, seems like the folks there made a mistake with the link.
Now I downloaded v1.1.7.0 from sourceforge and it works fine, thanks stax :)

stax76

I've contacted them to fix the link. I've seen this crash countless times before due to bloody warez sites, they offer files like StaxRip_1.1.6.8_Portable.rar and inside is a different/older version, I have no idea if this is a scam maybe with modified code or if they are just dumb.
