Tank's for the tip but I've got the same noise with EAC3to.
I don't understand why the command line talk about Besweet when I choose EAC3to:
EAC3to:

Besweet:
http://www.ouplo.com/img/mini/lSanstitre2.jpg (http://www.ouplo.com/img/lSanstitre2.jpg)
I think it's normal that I've got the same noise if I use the same encoder. Is there a bug I the fabulous StaxRip?
Thank's for your help.

Hello,
In fact I think I have find the problem with EACto3. It's impossible to encode wav to vorbis with eac3to. It's ok for ACC, AC3, FLAC, DTS.
Does EAC3to have a de-dynamic option like besweet? If it's possible I would lik to use the commande line option like in this screen:
http://www.ouplo.com/img/mini/lSanstitre3.jpg (http://www.ouplo.com/img/lSanstitre3.jpg)
Thank's.

At first many thanks for developing this great tool. It is a great help for me.
I have a small improvement request. It might be helpful for others too.
You might add an option for the "Default track flag" (see mkvmerge) settings in the subtitle menu. So that you can include a subtitle without it showing up automatically.
At the moment I have to open the created video file with mkvmerge to change the parameter to "no". Would be great to set it right from the beginning.
In any case,
Thanks for the creation of StaxRip.

Hello,
I'm back with my noise at the end of an ogg file encoded by besweet via StaxRip.
I used to use Staxrip to create video 720p with x264 (for video) and ogg (for audio). Ogg is for me the must power full encoder for audio.
To make you understand, I upload a file, it is not an 720p file, it's a smaller one, you can find it here :
http://uploading.com/files/3655cff2/San%2Btitre.7z/
In this file youcan find:
* Sans titre.mkv => The audio + video encoded file
* Sans titre.wav => The original wav file.
* Sans titre_Output.OGG => The noisy file encoded by Besweet via Staxrip.
* Sans titre.ogg => The encoded file using Oggenc2 via xrecodeII
I read some forum and I found that this noise is a known problem.
As you can ear, the xrecode file (Sans titre.ogg) is noise less.
I just want to know how I can use Oggenc2.exe with StaxRip; if yes how can I do.
Is there a solution with this version of StaxRip?
Thank's a lot.
PS : I edit the original wav file and the besweet encoded file in SoundForge.
http://www.ouplo.com/img/mini/CopieSoundForge.jpg (http://www.ouplo.com/img/CopieSoundForge.jpg)
As you can see the noise is visible at the end of the file (on the bottom of the image).
What can you tell about this?
Thank's a lot one more time.

Have you tried updating the libvorbis.dll in the staxrip/applications/besweet folder with a newer one from rarewares.org?

Hello,
Thank you for you help but...
In first, you can only ear the noise with some software (media player classic for example). To be sure you can edit the file with some software (Audacity for example). You'll understand that the noise is here because you came see it; look at this file : http://www.ouplo.com/img/mini/CopieSoundForge.jpg (http://www.ouplo.com/img/CopieSoundForge.jpg).
In second, I try to change the "libvorbis.dll" but this is the same problem.
For the difference between the 2 file "Sans titre.ogg" and "Sans titre_Output.OGG" it's normal because I apply a dynamic compression + normalization with the file encoded by besweet.
I really appreciate your help but The problem is not solved for the moment.
Thank's a lot.

Hello to everybody.
I've been using staxrip for a very long time and recently I need to uncrop some video files (i.e. in a mkv container) to a standard size to make them blu ray compliant. I mean I have a movie whose is 1920x800 and I need to make it 1920x1080 re-encoding it and adding black bars up and down.
I tried with some options in menu but with no result: if the movie is 1920x800 Starip won't let me encode it to any other height beyond 800.
Tools like multiavchhd lets you "uncrop" any source video and it looks like it can do tha with a simple avisinth script row (i.e. addborders(x,x,x,x,) ). I tried to use in staxrip but with no result (I'm not familar with avisinth script).
Is there a way to do what I need using staxrip??
Thanks a lot.
Michele.

Hello! I am back with a Problem ^^
I have directories containing multiple mkv-files containing dvd-material, that i would like to compress using almost the same settings for each output file. I understand that "file batch" should be the mode to use. BUT!:
When I open the files in file-batch-mode and have "create jobs" turned on, staxrip does not do the preparations (demuxing/indexing etc.) so I get Jobs that I can not edit or start due to missing files/scripts etc.
When I disable "create jobs" staxrip does the preparations for each file, but closes the files afterwards so that I can't do anything but re-open the files in single-mode. But if I do that, the Preparations are done all over again, so the Batch did not make any sense.
What am I doing wrong? I just would like the preparations being performed and jobs created which I can edit before hitting "start" (I need to apply some manual cutting to some of the files)
Is it a bug or a feature? ^^
Thx in Advance!

I've been having a minor problem since using Staxrip for the first time, the encodes look great and the app is easy to use but...
I've noticed that all of my encodes using x264/ac3/mkv whilst cutting and resizing to 1280x720 suffer from very minor pixelation around 38 seconds in.
The source files are 1080i H264 TS rips from satellite TV via a Dreambox.
I've tried encoding on 3 different PCs and a few older releases of Staxrip and I keep getting the same problem

Hi,
I have the same issue, staxrip don't like ts with avc+aac or mpeg2+aac but i don't have issue with ts mpeg2+mp2.
I have the same bug with avc, bad decoding like your screenshot. And with aac audio, staxrip don't demux audio or it demux audio but can't cut it or it cut it but there no sound in aac...
Try to demux before with tsMuxeR GUI, don't often to apply the delay for audio.
I realy love staxrip, but that was a big problem for encoding ts files.
See ya

It's a known Haali glitch with AVC inside TS containers ....

hi, i have ripped Avatar, everything is fine, but how do i get staxrip to rip the subs,
staxrip 1.1.7.0 does not rip the subs, vsrip doesn't even run,
i click on the sub bit, it asks me where the subs are, but there are no subs anywhere because staxrip didn't rip them,
could some one offer any advice concerning the Subtitle section in staxrip, subtitles seem quite hidden in staxrip, there's no mention of it in the interface, considering the importance of Forces subs, the subtitles features in staxrip are quite hidden away for the casual user
i ran VSRip manually and ripped the subs, then told staxrip where the subs were, all was fine,
why didn't staxrip do this itself?
i have noticed that Staxrip wants me to point to the VOB files, but VSRip wants me to point to the IFO,
seems there is a missing step somewhere,
once staxrip reads the VOB files, for example VST_05_1 - 5_8, should it not then process the VST_5 IFO file, and automatically check for subtitle pointers and references, and then demux them and ask user what to do with them,
or am i missing something,
i remembered that AutoGK asked for the IFO file, then demuxed the relevant VOB files connected to that IFO file and also the Subs and did it's DGIndex thingy as well as asked what PGC to use (seamless branching)
am i doing something wrong (most likely)
all i want is the Forced subs in Avatar film to show,
i tried manually VSRip (but the forced subs are not showing, ALL Subs are on)
but i only want forced subs
also i want soft subs, as i'm doing MKV container, don't want them burnt in to output file,
hard subs is a thing of the past now right?
AVI limitations are long gone (about time)

Due to x264.nl change way to store revisions - i remake autoupdate scripts for x264 in staxrip.
You must paste it as vbscript in edit dialog of menu-items.
You need wget(for download) and winmerge(for visual control of changes) installed in applications folder.
Manual update from menu item:

Does noone know a solution to my Problem? :(

been using Xvid4PSP, and i have noticed that it uses Xvid Encraw, it gives a cpu (3 core AMD) utilization of 70-80%, where as Staxrip (Xvidcore.dll) gives only 35-45%,
i also noticed that Xvid4PSP sets a thread of 5 not 3, maybe by setting more threads it makes up for the huge inefficiencies of Xvid multi-threading which is well known,
1 Core to 1 thread is well known not to scale well with Xvid, Xvid just doesn't have good SMP in place,
questions,
1a. Could staxrip ever use Xvd Encraw,
1b. Is Xvid Encraw more efficient than XvidCore.dll (like x264VFW and X264 CLI)
2. Is it possible to set Xvid Thread count in staxrip rip, i want to try and set the thread count to 5, and see what happens?
3. i noticed that Xvid Encraw seems to get developed still in places, minor granted, but developed none the less, question is..... is Xvid Craw superior to it's .dll cousin?
have a wonderful new year, and a well deserved break,

Is there an option in settings or via macro to use "original" audio channel detection when encoding. So by default whatever the audio source channels are detected as that's what they are encoded as?

Pulp catalyst i have xvid_encraw working with staxrip. Not sure if performance is better as I don't really use xvid very much. Anyhow.
I had an installation of Buzzqw's HDC which uses xvid encraw, so I removed the xvid file from my staxrip folder. I copied the xvid_encraw and xivdcore.dll to the staxrip folder(where the xvid encoder was).
Start staxrip go tools applications. Press F11, go to your staxrip folder(or wherever you have your xivdencraw exe) and select that file, you may need to select all files to see it and then okay. Then press F12 and remove 1.2.2 and type xvid_encraw.
now Staxrip should run xvid encraw.

If I understand you correctly you would like to have the original audio unchanged in the encoded file? Just set the audio streams to "just mux" and the audio will be unchanged. If you want to have that automatically create a template where "just mux" is already chosen.

Willscarlet thanks but no I knew that one. I am referring to audio channel detection. So that when the file is re-encoded it retains the same number of channels as the source file.

Might just be me, but when you perform Cutting (within preview), this gets added to bottom of the filters list. If you move this up in the filters list (in my case above my Fade entries), then right click on Cutting Filter and select Play, this works fine.
If however you do all that, but insterad of right click, you go back into Preview and then play with External (MPC-HC in my case), this puts Cutting back to bottom of filter list and you don't get the cut version of the video in the external preview or indeed in the final encoded file if you don't move it within filter list.
I'm probably not explaining it all that well, but basically Cutting seems to not always "stick" when encoding unless you make sure you've clicked Play so that the AVS is re-written before then going ahead with the encode.

thanks flebber,
another issue which has caused me many of headaches lately,
for Xmas, i got a Box-set Startrek TNG & DS9
been converting TNG over to x264 using Staxrip, just started DS9, but the DVD structure is different,
I.E.
VTS_02_1.VOB - VTS_02_8.VOB
in those files are 4 Episodes,
but Staxrip doesn't read the IFO files, which is causing me a headache, because after the encode i have to split (i use mkvmerge), this was ok, and a trade off i accepted,
but then came disk 6, this disk has all the extras for season one, 20 different clips all combined in the VOB files,
if there anyway of forcing Staxrip to read the IFO files, and get the relevant information needed to process the individual files on these types of disks?
if not, then can i hereby put in a request for IFO processing for the future, because i can't continue to use Staxrip now, splitting over 20 clips, is too much,
ALSO more importantly, the clips have different aspect ratio's and should be processed individually so the correct calculations can be made, if all the VOB files are treated as one, then Staxrip will only make the one AutoCrop, which has caused problems, some of the clips have different bars in different places, and Autocrop needs to be done on each Chain,
in fact been messing around with staxrip, if staxrip can't access the IFO files, then staxrip is really more tailored for Film DVD's and not EPISODE DVD's, hopefully when Stax returns, he can introduce IFO processing as an option,
EDIT
someone mentioned in another forum to use a DVDRipper that puts the files in separate VOB files, but that is a nightmare, and not really an option, i spent nearly 3 days ripping my DVD box-sets to my two Harddrives, to hell doing that all over again, LOL,

Hi Stax,
Any idea if (and perhaps when) we could see some kind of life in StaxRip development please ?
Please don't take this as a negative comment, I just start to miss the regular bugfixes and improvements, and kind of start to prefer MeGUI lately for just that reason.:)

i dug out DVD Shrink earlier, scanned through my SOFTWARE\VIDEO\ folders, looked at some old tools, there it was, DVD Shrink, dusted of the dust (b)ites, and got it in,
totally forgot DVD Shrink had re-authoring mode, and because of it's maturity, bug free, and no hidden issues, i turned off All decryption capabilities, the ISO's are already decrypted, everything is going like a treat,
it's not all lost, I've removed foreign audio and subtitles in there entirety, approx. 1.2GB shaved off each disk, Staxrip (DGIndex) will obviously process each disk that little faster, and there's something about DVD Shrink which is a real pleasure seeing again, DVD Shrink really was an amazing program for it's time, such a clean interface, modern even by today standards,
I'm just over the moon that I don't have to re-rip the DVD's again, granted I still have to process the current ISO's i have (HD1 to HD2, then back to HD1)
but next time I'll know, don't assume the 2nd boxset "DS9" will be the same as the 1st "TNG"
thanks for your response,
although i still think it would be a good idea for Staxrip to have the ability to identify each chain itself, and do these 3-6 extra step itself,
FUW, AutoGK, Handbrake too name a few,
but Stax is great, and is my number one, produces such great quality ASP & H264,
the one downside it has for me is the subtitle section, the way it's hidden away, and quite often i can't get it too handle forced subs automatically, and the GUI is very reluctant to share any hints regarding Subs, in fact no mention of Subs on the main screen at all, weird why that is,
the startrek films i had to do on "FUW", because i couldn't get Stax to do the forced subs only, (tried before aswell couple of months ago, "Avatar", but like then still couldn't get it too work)

The combined vob files aren't uncommon, you just have to use the previes and cut feature for each ep. Basically do the first one, click next, add it to the job queue, then simply change the filename to reflect the new name (say from 'c:\ds9 1x01.mkv', only replacing the 1 to 2, to read 'c:\ds9 1x02.mkv', then use preview again. The cursor position will be where you left it, at the end of the first ep, simply press x to delete that edit, use the buttons to move a few frames forward to just at the beginning of the next ep, and select the next ep. Repeat this process for the 4 eps. Don't use dgindex etc to cut the files, as sometimes you can run into issues with that way, and also make sure you end and especially start the ep and the beginning of the ep, as you may end up with sync issues if you select from the end of the previous ep and there's a couple of seconds of blank screen where the timecodes and ep changes...
Anyways, it is a little bit of hassle, but really doesn't take much time to do it once you are used to it. It would be nice to have an IFO reader though!

Another option is to try HDConvertToX. It reads the .ifo and allows to select the PGCs individually.
But yes, DVDShrink's re-authoring mode is incredibly convenient and helpful for may purposes still.

Hi.
I have problems to change the framerate in staxrip.
I want to convert files from my camcorder (H.264/1080p50) with staxrip. The target video should be H.264 7020p25 (drop every second frame with x264) for vimeo.
Staxrip dont have switches to do this, so i add "--fps 25" to commanline, but the target video is still 50p.
Can anyone help me? Do I have to add more switches?
Sorry for my bad english :)

staxrip does have "Assume 25 FPS" or "Assume 23.976 FPS"
http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/AssumeFPS
you can add - misc - assume
i have no idea if this is what your looking for, but changing FPS to half is a considerable amount, the audio will also have to be adjusted, the effect that will have on the audio will be staggering.
another way i found with google,
Right-click the Field filter and choose: Advanced > SelectEven
http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Select
and
I figured it out myself
add the avisynth script command:-
ChangeFPS(25)
to the script and the output now is 25fps
I am so clever Smiley
these were quotes i found from other websites with the exception of the 1st,

Start up staxrip, setup stax the way you want filters setmode whatever and then choose save as template.
