StaxRip uses VirtualDubMod to cut AC3 and this fails with your stream as there are different channels and maybe also stream errors since it's a capture. I don't know which cutter would work. You could start a dedicated thread to find out if there is a tool that can handle the job. Maybe AAC or Vorbis 5.1 would also be acceptable. In this case decoding it to 5.1 wav could be tried. This would create a rather large wav file. If here nobody knows a solution maybe people at the DVBViewer forum know more.

ye....but before when the source was 720p....i did cut it right....there was the same changes in audio at that time...i did use stax 1.1.1.0 at that time but i guess its not because its a new vdmod that causes the troubles?
ill try look into the way i record it and proceed
thx many times for taking the time to help me....i really appreciate it

What did it tell?
I tried to reproduce the error here, however, it did not happen again, but here comes one: (, though not serious, when the encode finishes, although the conversion completed successfully (I tested the file and it played usually here) StaxRip displays a message at the end of that encode saying encode failed, just do not know why, I will send the log via pm

@cbsjanten
I guess it's because it was MPEG-2 and that was processed with ProjectX and to my knowledge ProjectX don't support AVC sources.
@Havokdan
Thanks providing the log file, I'll investigate the encoding failed issue, did you notice the ffmpeg writing SBR not supported to the log file, I assume this is the reason for the downmixing, I'll try to find a newer ffmpeg versions with SBR support.
Edit: The performance issue you noticed was due to ffdshow writing a few thousand times 'SBR not implemented' to the log output. I can block it but that don't solve the problem SBR not being supported by ffdshow.

Thanks for help. Unable to decode the aac mkv home via directshowsource, or add this option? For before used the Avisinth (DirectShowSource) + Virtualdub (to encode the audio and video).

You mean you want StaxRip to decode aac using DirectShow since ffdshow can't handle SBR? I can help with this (tomorrow).

Any way to import Sharktooth's xml profiles in Staxrip? Seems to only support srp files.
This was removed and won't come back but it's not hard to create a profile from a given command line. There is a new search feature in the x264 dialog where you can enter a switch and StaxRip will show the control for the switch. x264 has built in profiles which are also useful of course.

Hi all,
I have problem with latest StaxRip. I use it to convert TV-recordings (Topfield 5100PVRc .rec's) into mkv's with AC sound. I demux files first with ProjectX (OoZooN.TV Edition) and StaxRip handles rest. The problem is that with this new temp directory feature my finished mkv files do not have audio at all.
It seems that when temp directory is created the program does not check is there separate audio file. The program does not notice anymore the original mp2 audiofile --> no sound.
So far I have used Staxrip to convert hundreds of files into mkv's so I was one happy jack before this new 'feature'. Please can you fix this? The queque is piling up :(

Hi and welcome at Doom9, please try the following: download the latest test build, I've posted the link to it a couple of posts before, convert a file, if there is no audio, go to Main Menu -> Help -> Make Bug Report, this creates some diagnostic files and tells you to mail these files to me.

So I read a lot of folks have audio syncing issues. I have found an extremely easy way to resolve this problem if you are converting directly from the source DVD. This solution works with any final codec choice as 99.9% of the time it is a problem with the source and NOT the resulting file.
Anyway, I have the video over on my site http://www.tbkhomeworld.com/staxrip/ (http://www.tbkhomeworld.com/staxrip/)

Adds parameters to command line based video encoders. (Parameters = --zones %pos_frame%,%eval:%source_frames%-1%,q=40)
Hello stax
Regarding encoding the title section in lower settings than the main movie, I found the above following your direction in one of the previous post. Now is it possible to change the command to customize the target bitrate for the title section or may be encoding it in greyscale?
Thanks again

1.)Click on filters.
2.)U will get Add Filters in that u can find Misc.
3.)Click on it and then u can find child partation as Convert to YV12.
4.)Click on it to add.
5.)Replace the following code in convert to YV12
clip=last X=50 Y=20 logo=ImageSource("C:\Users\PC Name\Desktop\image.jpg") logomask=ImageSource("C:\Users\PC Name\Desktop\image_mask.jpg") last=clip Overlay(logo, X, Y,mask=logomask, opacity=1.0)
and click ok
C:\Users\PC Name\Desktop\image.jpg
this is place where i located my water mark.In the same way u can give the destination of the image ur self, where it is located.
6.)opacity=1.0 u can choose ur own opacity from 1.0 to 0.1.
And click ok

I am looking for an alternative to Winnydows and stumbled upon this application. It looks like it has potential for my purposes but as soon as I installed it and went to convert a .mp4 I have to the IPod format it crashed. As soon as I select it as my source, and clicked okay to go back to the main program, it just crashes every single time.
I have 7zipped the folder it created. Maybe I am doing something wrong not being familiar with this application?

Hi Stax,
Just tried the new beta and really rocks, thanks a lot!
I only have 2 question:
1. If you change the output directory you have to add the extension to the file (ie, avi or mkv) is this a bug or it have a purpose?
2. There is any chance to add to the windows preview the ability to display frame n° and timestamp like in VD?

You mean changing the target file path? In any case a extension is added. What operating system do you use?

You mean displaying VirtualDub progress within StaxRip? It can be done with some ugly hacking but since XviD is a old format I hardly add relating new features.

Yes, if I change the target path I have to add the extension of the file manually otherwise I'll get a warning message saying "the current assistant or warning cannot be skipped" and the target path is marked in orange, after add the extension to the file (avi, mkv...) I can continue without problems. I'm using Windows XP SP3.

Frame number and time while you navigate the video in the preview.

It will be useful to seek and select a particular fragment of a movie for test the output quality before encode the whole movie.

As you said, I did find it in the Menu obtained by right clicking on the preview window. So if I mark the "credits section" with the in and out point marker, will it be encoded in a lower and different bit rate than the rest of the movie?

I'm not much of a guru, but I loved how Ripstax made it easier for a novice such as me to make higher quality video rips. I was using v1.1.1.0 with my WinXp box. Well, long story short, my three year-old motherboard died and I built a new quad-core pc using Win7 x64. For whatever reason the older version was not compatible so I installed the latest beta version. I have not had the chance to test it out, but upon initial inspection it seems that I no longer have the profile options I had before. Specifically, I was using the HQ-Insane mode and now there are only two profiles (under x264 options). If an update is not forthcoming providing this option, is there an easy way to add this profile to v1.1.1.4?
Thanks in advance. :)
